What the heck was that flashlight app that was SUPER bright - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Ok, I've had 2 ROMs on my phone. Hyperdrive and Barebones and there was a flashlight app that came with one of those ROM's that was super bright. It seemed to have 3 or 4 dimming methods. I just put it on my home sceen and used when needed, but now I do not see it. Does anyone have any idea what that was called or where I can get an .apk for it? Thanks everyone!
P.S. Or was it on stock ROM, can't remeber. I know it wasn't the torch that is activated by pressing the up on the volume button. It was an actual flashlight app in the app drawer.

Magnifying Glass app?

Does anyone know of an app that will Use the HD2 camera, and possibly the led flash, to display a live magnified image on screen? Essentially turning the HD2 into a magnifying glass (possibly with light)?
Ive got a friend who is partially sighted and often uses a magnifying glass with a built in 'torch' light, to read print/text while out and about.... having an app that would do the same thing could prove very handy at times.
Anyone know of such a thing? Everytime I try searching I just get apps that magnify whatever is on the screen and cant magnify a live image from the camera.
Thanks in advance.
iam sorry for asking, but could using the zoom feature of camera with flash on...doesnot serve the purpose ?
Thanks for the suggestion... However I had already thought of this... The main problem being that my flash will not light until I take a picture.
Previously my flash would stay lit during preview if the flash ON option was selected.... but this is no longer the case (possibly since flashing to EnergyRom).
Plus having a dedicated app would be more convenient.
Cheers for the suggestion though

Put it in video mode and you can force the flash on or use torch button and leave it running when you start the camera up.
yes, you can use the torch application and keep it on while you use your camera
The LED turns off if the Torch app (Flashlight) is not the active application.
You can do what optiknervz suggested which is use the Video mode and then turn on the flash, unless of course you want a still photograph of whatever it is that you are trying to zoom into.

no lock (AOD) and nexus one flashlight?

Does anybody use these applications?
I ordered MT4 and I plan to install these:
no lock can wake up the phone by pressing ANY hard button
nexus one flashlight can use the phone's light.

the phone comes stock with htc's flashlight that give you 3 modes of brightness, blinking and sos... also you can change the buttons in the key layout to wake without an app theres more on that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836702
he is correct and i was using no lock but be very careful because the genius button can place calls on its own if you have no lock enabled that gets kinda funny when you "butt dial" friends lol and i find the stock HTC flashlight app to work flawlessly already so no need for 3rd party apps.

Widget Locker - Problem with EASY WAKE UP mode

Hi everybody.
I've just installed WIDGET LOCKER and I find it a very cool app.
But I've a problem: I've enabled the EASY WAKE UP mode, but it doesn't work......in fact I've always to use the button on the top of the cell, while the volume buttons or the trackball don't do the same (wake up the screen): why? It's a very helpful feature and I'd like to use it. I've a Htc Wildfire Buzz.
Hope someone can help me.
Thanks in advance.
I seem to have the same problem aswell (just tried it but I dont really like using volume buttons to unlock, although I can and like to use trackball to wake (Menu > Settings > Buttons & Inputs > 'Tick' Trackball Unlock). What version do you have?

The trackball works to unlock, but not to wake up the screen.
Anyway it's a problem of our phone, as told me by the developer of the app.
Ciauz.
Perhaps there is not (hardware) support for that. i had the same wish to do the same. there is a cool app called Tap Tap and it's using proximity sensor to on screen and off.

This version of Widget works well on Android 2.1 but it can't with android 2.2 or 2.2.1. It used to be very good on my wildfire 2.1 but I have the same problem with my 2.2.1 OTA. I think Widgetlocker still doesn't fully support android 2.2.1
In cyanogenmod 7 the trackball wake function works good. But there is another nice app. It wake and unlock the wildfire by the proximity sensor. Just hold your finger on the right side of the HTC logo to turn off and on the device. I am testing it now and it works very good. The app is called proximity screen off

Ok, I know this was from an old post, but I hadn't seen any mention of this functionality and thought I'd share.
I've found great success in running with widgetlocker completely disabled, then using tasker to lock the screen when power off via power button (but only when not on a phone call to avoid interference from prox sensor screen off in call) and unlocking widgetlocker only when the prox sensor is not engaged, after a 100ms pause.
It saves cpu cycles, as WL is not polling for screen off trigger (tasker is already running after all) and is extremely snappy in unlocking on my Note 2. Its also very good about detecting my pocket, as the prox sensor on the note 2 can be set to poll when the screen is off, something not available on my older phone. I had it pretty dialed in on my previous phone, a 1st generation sgs epic 4g running cm10, despite some sluggishness due to lack of system resources, especially onboard storage space.
Obviously, everyone will have their own take on lockscreens. I'm the type of user who just wants the lockscreen out of my way. Aside from the phantom media widget which appears/disappears when the music starts/stops, I am not much for widgets on my lockscreen. When I first purchased, I really just wanted a method of avoiding having to slide to unlock, as that seems like a wasted gesture. I originally set out to solve the prox sensor unlock solution on android with the old windows mobile app pocketshield in mind as my paragon. If you are like me and just want the lockscreen gone without having to reach for it, but don't want to worry about pocket unlocks, then you'll be happy to hear that this setup with widgetlocker and tasker is an infinitely better and cleaner solution than pocketshield ever was.
Just my 2 cents.

[Q] Disable backlit keys on CM7

I moved from Stock 2.3.4 samsung rom to Cyanogenmod 7 (stable).
I have one problem though, I cant seem to disable the keylights of the two buttons, one on either side of the home button. It is annoying as hell when I use my phone in a dark room.
Can anyone help me?
No one knows?
PS.
I think I am gonna move to MIUI ROM, this still has many bugs ... Get a lot of FC on random apps.
Is there not an option in CM7? On stock its in Settings>Display>Touch key light duration.

Nope, I looked for it 1st. Could not find it.

there is an app called "Screen filter" it's ad free and free - it is exactly what you are looking for, and it operates via a widget... you can put a dark filter on your screen to make the screen very dark, and you have the option to disable the button back lights too... you can create several widgets with whatever level of darkness you desire... I couldn't use my phone at night without it!!
You glorious bastard! I've been searching all over for a solution to this problem!
Accept my deepest thanks.

[Q] Notification lights?

Is there a way to turn the hardware buttons into the notification light instead of the Power button led? I have a case that covers the power button and miss the notification blink that I had on the Atrix HD. Thanks in advance.
There's an older app for that on the play store. Called LG notification lights or something like that. Doesn't officially support OG, but might be worth a try. I don't recall any talk of the feature... Probably because we have a notification light. It was popular on the i777 though.

Thanks. I'll have to check that out. The only reason I want it is because of the case I have. :good:
I have confirmed that LG Touch LED Notifications by Martin Börjesson works on my E970 with KitKat AOSP 4.4.2. I have the Diztronic TPU case that covers the notification light. When I get a notification it will vibrate first (can be adjusted), then light the capacitive buttons. Perfect!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.martinborjesson.o2xtouchlednotifications
I used to have a Samsung Moment that did not have a dedicated notification light, the Devs used to do kernel edits that allowed for the BLN app by Neldar to work.
Also, just in case there is anyone like me who keeps their phone on vibrate but still wants notification lights for Gmail without the vibrate notification, do the following within the Gmail app:
Press hardware menu button or three squares menu button in top right of Gmail app to access Settings;
Select your connected Gmail account;
Leave Notifications box checked, press Inbox sound & vibrate;
Press Sound, select Silent;
Make sure Vibrate is unchecked.
What I would love to see is the ability to assign up to three types of notifications to the three capacitive buttons that we have.
Example:
Missed call = Back button
SMS message = Home button
Gmail message = Menu button
Missed call + SMS + Gmail = All three buttons lit. Hmm... maybe I will email this suggestion to the Developer of Trigger - location profiles to see if they could add this sort of functionality to their already awesome app.
Does anyone know if the E970 has one LED light to illuminate all three capacitive buttons, or are they three separate LEDs? Edit: Boo! Only has two... http://imgur.com/a/ydoJb
I've been using an app called ButtonLED I found on XDA since ICS days and still works with KitKat roms. The GUI is pretty basic and not the prettiest but the app is functional. When you turn the logs on, it will track what app or keywords appear in the status bar. You can then go in and add that app or keyword to be excluded and not trigger the notification. I'm going to check out the LG app and see if that performs better (battery drain, etc). Here's the link for the info on ButtonLED... http://www.xda-developers.com/android/buttonled-turns-your-hardware-buttons-into-a-notification-led/ Even though the app is not being updated, I've been running 1.6 with no issues.

didn't work on mine unfortunately. I'd tried it a couple of weeks ago while looking for solutions on this issue (along with many other apps). I'm on SnowJB. So far the only one that has worked is using Xposed+GravityBox... the problem with that one is that it seems to link the side notification LED red light to the front softkeys LEDs, so when the phone is charging and the red LED is flashing on/off the front LEDs flash as well. This bothers me because once I go to sleep and charge the phone the white front LEDs do seem very bright... plus I don't like the fact of having them flashing every night for 8 hours straight, gives me the impression that it'll cause them to get damaged much sooner than normal since they weren't really desinged to flash like that. There is an option on GravityBox that says DISABLE LED FLASHING WHILE CHARGING... which I thought could've helped to prevent that charging flashing but at least in my case that option did nothing,
It would be awesome if someone could come up with a mod for this. Even better if someone knew what file could be edited through root browser to make the red light flash faster on notifications.

Thx....
didn't work either... which version did you install? (I saw there were several on the dropbox download link).
The problem I have with these apps is that they interrupt the normal function of the softkey lights... for example I like to have these lights always ON while my screen is ON as well, I don't like them to time out... and there is an option withing stock Android to set them up like that.... but when I use an app to use the LEDS for notifications for some reason it disables the stock preset and shutts them off entirely while the screen is on... I kinda gave up on this. I'd just be so happy if I could modify the frequency of the RED LED on the power button on notifications.

I use the same setup with cap keys always on. That's the downside all apps/mods have regarding the keys getting disabled when the screen is turned on after a notification. Simply turn the screen off and back on to reset the keys and they will turn back on/reset. I'm using 1.6.
