S4 service connection and warranty. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Two days ago, I bought the SGS4 Device from my mobile operator in my country.
I have rooted the device successfully.
Then I decided to put the phone on the German and newer stock rom and then root again.
The problem that I can not longer connect to the mobile services. The EMEIs are different from the box and the OS.
My two options Were find an answer on the web(spent the whole day and no answer) or bring it to original, my operator's stock, erase the flashes number and give the phone back so they will change me it to a new one.
If not one of those, Bring the phone to a privet service and fix my problem.
The problem with erasing the number of flashes is that the Triangle Away program gives me an error message:"Could not locate hidden partition"
And asking if I have ICS installed..
Thanks for the help,
Thomas.

Hello there,
Seems like you should return to the original firmware to connect it.
This might help:

Hit the thanks button if it helps.

I have already flashed my original..
Also I have problem that there is no lock screen and there is a black window on my home screen that tells me different info like memory, pda and more... on the start of the phone I have factory mode message or something like that.

[Q] Why has my menu key given up the ghost?

Hello all,
To keep it concise:
Received my SII from Vodafone yestersday - all is well.
Proceeded to flash the phone with XWK37 firmware and rooted the phone by flashing chainfire's insecure kernel, applying root and then flashing the stock XWK37 kernel - have used Odin before and all is well.
By the time I finish playing with the phone it's 3.00am so I put the SII on charge (battery at around 30%) - all is still suspiciously well.
Get up at 7am to take my kid to school and when I get back I discover that the menu key no longer does anything when pressed (home key and return key still work fine) - it doesn't light up nor does it bring up a menu - all is not well.
So far I've tried:
Reflashing both the firmware and kernal - no effect.
Removing sim card, sd card and battery - no effect.
Hard resetting (both via button method and android privacy menu) / formatting sd card - no effect.
Dialling *#*#2663#*#* and updating the touch firmware - no effect.
Accused my wife of breaking my phone before she went to work - no effect.
Now If it's a hardware problem (which would be disappointing since I've only had the phone for 1 day) then I'm stuck since there is no stock UK Vodafone firmware available yet to flash back to before handing in for repair - plus I don't want to go back to using my N97 in the meantime.
Yes I preordered the N97 before it was released and got myself stuck in an 18 year contract - words can't describe how much I hate that worthless piece of Nokia - I kept it to teach myself a lesson, early adoptions don't pay off.
The only other relevant thing I can think of is that I was trying to install ADW launcher (previously used it a lot) before I went to sleep last night however although the phone claimed that it downloaded and installed - no icon appeared and I was unable to launch it although it's wallpapers showed up when I was switching my live wallpaper.
Can anyone help with any idea's of what it might be aside from a hardware issue?
If it is a hardware issue, anyone know when the Vodafone UK firmware might shown up?
Tell you what, I'll throw in a free N97 for anyone who solves the problem
Thanks guys.
K37 firmware ????
I would flash old firmware like WKDD .
Possible with pit and repartition checked if that failed . Not used either yet on SGS2 but always cleared SGS1 by that method .
jje
Thanks for the reply jje,
The XWKE7 is the latest generic XEU firmware available from this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
I flashed it exactly as the guide stipulated.
However I didn't even think to try flashing it to a earlier version to see if the problem might be with the actual firmware.
Should be finishing work in a couple of hours so will try flashing the older XWKDD
firmware and see if that relocates the menu key.
Will update as soon as I know.
Damn.
No luck - tried flashing KDD (and also KE1/KE2 for good measure) accompanied by full memory wipes - still no luck. All these firmware files come in one .tar package which i place into the PDA section of Odin.
Even tried one where the pda, modem and csc were split into seperate files from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278&page=11
Still no return of the menu key.
When I am flashing - I leave the pit section of Odin completely alone and leave re-partition unticked - I take it this is correct?
It's strange because apart from the menu key - the S2 is working perfectly.
The only other thing I can think of is that the Vodafone branded version of the S2 in won't work with any other generic firmware which is pretty unlikely methinks.
jje - "...possible with pit and repartition checked if that failed.." - I didn't quite understand what you were recommending there mate - should I be using a pit file and checking repartition?
Any other ideas guys?
Off to go glare at my wife's dumbed down yet fully working iphone - it's laughing at me...
I've got the same problem. The menu button works just when it wants. Sometimes it doesn't react at all, sometimes it works perfectly.
I have KE1 firmware, I have rooted it and unrooted (for sim unlocking), then installed original kernel via Odin. Everything was wonderful and I was the happiest guy in the world! One day later the button began behaving like a goast! as chronicpoetic mentioned.
I would like to try installing the new firmware via Odin, but I am afraid that if it's hardware problem, then it won't be taken by service.
Any suggestions?
sounds like hardware faults guys :/
Thank you for reply! I thougt it was too, but... read below
I found out something else.
The menu button works, but with an extreme long delay - 15-30 seconds! More often just right after screen unlock. It just appears and disappers 30 times if I pushed it 30 times before.
And still it can work just perfectly. Sometimes after connecting it to PC or charging it. That dosn't work like a rule.
I am trying to find the reason of such unusual behaviour, but I am lack of expirience.
Any help?

Horridly softbricked SII, need help

Hello everyone,
As this is my first post, i'd like to apologise in advance if this issue i'm about to detail has been posted before, but after about a month's worth of trial and inevitable error, reading everything i could find and following every walkthrough i've come across to the t...i'm at wit's end here.
So, i've got a Galaxy SII GT i9100, standard euro version i suppose, my provider is Vodafone Romania (wretched buggers the lot of 'em).
My troubles had started ever since the update from 2.3 with which the phone had arrived, to 4.0.3. I made the update through my home wifi, and i'm guessing the software was provided by either Google, Samsung or Vodafone Ro.
In any case, 4.0.3 was a lot more sluggish and badly calibrated in terms of touch responses and video lag while streaming.
About a month ago i got another notification to update to 4.0.4. This update worked fine for about 20 minutes till the thing decided to freeze up completely, and not turn off from the power button held down a while.
After i had removed the battery and turned it back on, i simply got the following message: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
Naturally Kies is a steaming pile and recovery fails every time with a message composed only of empty squares instead of text, i'm guessing it's because i lack a certain language pack, but the only option is "OK".
So i turned to Odin, when that failed, instead of wiping the counter before sending it into the warranty, i did not. so they voided my warranty because it seems Odin is "unauthorized".
Multiple tries and failures later, quite a few attempts by other people that know more about this than myself...some have said i've got corrupt flash memory while other say "NAND rw corruption".
I'm a rather experienced pc builder...but this seriously stumps me.
I've also tried the walkthrough here on XDA with the same results.
So any new input would be much appreciated...be it through skype or another medium.
can you enter the download mode, if yes then try flashing stock firmware which comes with .PIT file (using odin)......may be that will help
try this thread as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458

sorry i forgot to mention that i can enter Download mode using Vol. down + home + power, BUT...i can't enter recovery mode or whatever it's called with Vol. up + home + power...that button combo only starts the phone with the same old error message.
also, i've tried this walkthrough
as far as i know if you can enter into download mode, your phone is not dead...........................i don't know much about android development but i am sure that your phone can be revived...........keep searching the forum and try contacting some of the sgs2 developers they might be able to help you
cheers

pretty much what i'm thinking as well, there should be a way to restore it without resorting to cannibalism and taking a broken phone's mobo.
but i have been searching and being new to these forums i've no clue who to contact, but anyways, thanks for the reply sir. my thanks
bumpdonkey.
Come on,are you trying different things like disabling kies/USB cables/ports/different PC.
Have you tired flashing the stock Rom through Odin? You can find it at sammobile.com.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
as i've stated in the first post, i've tried almost everything. this includes flashing a series of different roms, kernels, pits etc.
as well as trying it with kies uninstalled, and since it's been attempted by other people, i'm guessing it's superfluous to try it on another PC than my own because others have already done so with it. and the cable is just a cable.
i have the same problem and i still searching
when i try to mount the data partition it fail
i tried all things but still no solution
come on guys help us to revive our sgs2
so far, the most i've accomplished was bringing it from the error message to the boot screen where it remains forever...by flashing the bootroom.
but if i tick "nand erase all" it fails to do anything.
No bumping
Do not bump this thread. The answer will come because someone knows it, not because it's bumped every few hours.
which reatmne
sorry about that, i'll cut the bumping then...i'm just...beyond frustrated at this point...it's been a brick for about a month now...nobody seems to know how to fix the blasted thing
Maybe...
I had once got stuck.
If you could get to the recovery, i think you can try wipe data, wipe data, wipe data....................
Then flash stock rom, or those you think is reliable.
wipe and flash. wipe and flash.
If you can't, use ODIN....... the only way
flash and flash the stock rom or any others.............
if it works, there you are.
Hope it works!!
you may wanna read the whole topic before replying, just saying
Your phone's obviously stuffed and only one of two (but 95% likely only one) things is going to fix it (nothing anyone here can suggest will).
I think you know what they both are. Continuing to post to this thread is simply delaying getting your phone fixed or getting another phone.

Google Odin 3, use the 1.85 version. Get the stock Rom from sammobile.com for your device. Unzip Odin and then run it. In PDA browes to the stock Rom. Make sure only auto re boot and F. Reset are checked in odin. Then hit start. Check the stickies for more details. See vincom's in the development forum.

[Q] S3 won't boot past the Samsung splash screen after firmware upgrade,NO Rcovry mod

Hi
I read many threads in many forums but still hope to get my data back as it represents bits of my life and more important than the phone itself, though some cases were similar but none exactly same plus i care much about my data and I never rooted, messed up with or even tried to do anything like that with my phone
here's what happened in details on my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 maybe someone can help me
phone's SSN: -I9300GSMH
Made in Vietnam by Samsung
bought from Egypt where i live, SIM-free, not carrier locked, though i bought it from the carrier's (Orange subsidary in Egypt called mobinil) official store with warranty 1 year that now expired
the old firmware was 4.1.2, i got its build number from colleagues with similar phone bought same time as me I9300XXEMF6
here's what happened:
1- OTA firmware upgrade notification, downloaded package, options were cancel , install and install all package(somthing like that)
2- unfortunately chose install all package(yes i didn't read so i donno which version this was installing) and scheduled to start 5:20am
3- at 10:30am phone screen showing "starting apps"
4- after more than an hour still the same so i rebooted
5- stuck at samsung blue splash screen logo
6-removing battery and back in didn't help even for more than an hour, Samsung Kies won't recognize the device
7- Recovery mode give strange behaviour, didn't find similar in any forum, it brings the green droid man with a counter (like installing or loading somthing) reaches 27% exactly then this droid man flips on its back, red exclamation sign triangle on its belly and it dies, here's the ling to small video showing my mobile doing this
"https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0RJAWx6Ec-MUUlncVdjWFp0c1k/edit?usp=sharing" (there's no spam in the link, so plz just copy paste in browser to view, this is important to help show my problem)
yes that's RECOVERY MODE-->phone reboots itself coming back to stuck at samsung logo
there are no options, no menu on recovery mode just the after pressing the (Vol Up+home+power) combination it starts by itself this loading something till it dies and restarts, it doesn't give me any options or any control or allow me to interfere
yes download mode is working but i really hope there is another option than flashing the mobile and loosing everything, my whole life history that was on the mobile
praying God someone can help find me something to make it continue past the 27% or even go back to normal without loosing any of my stuff
really looking forward to your support..i'll be waiting for it b4 i do anything
many many thanks
Flash firmware with Odin and next time back up you're data.
Thanks andrewwright
if you just could be more specific..is this the only solution?
if yes, then which firmware version to flash that won't risk loosing my data? 4.1.2? or a newer version?
please if anyone else with less risky suggestions,,please your help is highly welcome
Flash a custom recovery like philz, use aroma file manager to save your data to external sd card.
Go read and learn how to do this from philz thread in original development.
This won't enable your phone to boot, but might save your data -if it is still there.

Solved:good:
Hi all
Odin 3.09
and latest Egypt firmware 4.3 for the GT-I9300 from samfirmware .com solved everything... i guess 4.3 is the version that this OTA firmware upgrade was eventually taking my phone to but got stuck somewhere during the process
not a single bit of Data lost, everything is there pictures, sms, even the settings
Thank God
thanks everyone for trying to help
cheers
Wasn't sure if it would wipe you're data or not. Some do some don't. Can't tell the outcome till its done. Glad you solved you're problem.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 Soft Brick

Hi,
NEED HELP!!! I purchased a samsung galaxy s2 phone from an outlet in India and has been using it since last 2 years without any issues except that its memory used to fill after some time even without installation of applications and I used to reset phone whenever that happened. I suspected it was because of some application and I removed all the applications I suspected for that and from many days it was working fine without memory filling issue. Few days back phone gallery was not opening with error of low memory. I ignored that and then one day, it restarted suddenly when I was browsing the web and then a screen came in some foreign language asking for some input. Since, I could not understand that language, I switched off the phone and started it back and then it hanged at the Samsung boot logo. I checked xda dvelopers forum for flashing rom and then used odin to flash Indian version gingerbread firmware on to my phone. It seemed working as in download mode, a blue color progress bar started to move on the phone screen. But it suddenly failed in odin with message 'write operation failed'.
After that, I have tried many times but in vain. Even the blue coloured progress bar which I have seen during first try never appeared. Finally, I went to Samsung service center and asked them to fix my software. They checked the phone and told me that it is not an India mobile and is out country and if they try, my motherboard can be dead and fixing motherboard will cost me 7200 Indian Rupees.
I was surprised to know that my phone is not Indian. I took the phone and tried to find the firmware using the language shown on the booklet/manuals came with phone and Google translate identified the booklet language as France. So, I tried flashing the French gingerbread firmware on my phone which I downloaded from sammobile but that also failed. As a last resort, I tried with PIT method but it also failed but phone is still not dead and can enter in download mode but nothing is working for me to fix the problem,
I have tried:
1. Odin 3.07
2. French Firmware - I9100XWLSW_I9100XXMS3_I9100VGFLS2_HOME.tar.md5
3. Samsung Galaxy SII Stock 2 GB PIT File.
4. Different USB Ports and Computers.
5. Run as administrator with AntiVirus turned off and Kies disabled as well as removed.
I need help of experts in this forum. is there any way I can identify correct firmware for my phone as I am not able to check it in System Information as phone is soft bricked or is there any firmware which can work on my phone irrespective of its region and how can I make my phone working. Please help. Many thanks in advance.
My perception for this group went wrong and I think no one in this group is answering my question and its a wastage of my time here so I am giving my phone to service center today for board replacement. Thumbs down to this group. Signing off.

[SORRY FOR TITLE BUT IT DIDNT WORK FOR ME LIKE 10 TIMES]
Hi guys, quick information:
Yesterday tried to autoroot my s7 edge with chain fires autoroot. Unfortunately I heard that it wont work on latest firmware after I tried to root it.
So I just wanted to reset my whole Phone. (Accidently) Downloaded wrong Firmware, tried to install it with odin. didnt work. writing failure. Boot loop.
Left it over night (kept it loading over night). Woke up. Phone is VERY hot. Couldnt touch it. ok. removed cable. cool down.
Ok. Noticed I picked wrong one. Downloaded correct one tried again. Didn't work.
Phone wont let me hard reset (wipe cache/ Home Button + Volume Up + Power Button doesnt work)-
Can't even get to Boot Logo-
Can only get into download mode but screen goes black after a while.
Everytime I try to install the stock firmware , progress bars in odin and on phone goes to a third and then phone screen goes black and the bar doesnt move at all. if i normally try to boot it this text shows up: an error has occurred while updating the device software. use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software. Cant use it because it want me to use a serial number i dont have / people on internet said its iemi number but it wont work. on videos on yt i saw people with iemi number AND serial number. in my buying papers no information about this serial number. not on my backcover of my phone.
Don't know what to do.. please anyone help
Information about Phone: SM-G935F
First remove your imei. Never post that openly on a forum or you could end up getting your device cloned.
The serial number is on the box.
You might have very well full bricked your device. Flashing the wrong firmware is a short road to a brick.
The buttons won't work due to partially written software. The wrong software at that.
Your only hope is finding the box and flashing the right software or you will have to send it in for repairs which might cost you a bit.
