[Q] Stuck in Roaming, can't activate - HTC Droid DNA

So I haven't really found anyone with as specific a situation I'm in so I figured I'd make a new thread.
I was running a CM10.1 build from late July, which still had some bugs but was bearable. I upgraded to CM10.2 to try it out, but it was buggier than the CM10.1 build. I saw that the bugs were fixed in the latest build of CM10.1 so I flashed that. Since then I've been stuck in Roaming and can't activate my phone.
Each time I flashed I restored my 100% stock backup (I have a nandroid from the day I got the phone). Every flash was a clean install wiping data/cache/dalvik. Was first roaming when I reverted back to CM10.1, but restoring my backup and even flashing CM10.2 again I'm roaming still.
Basically, once I was roaming, I haven't stopped regardless of ROM.
And I'm sure someone will ask, I have S-off.
How do I go about fixing this?
EDIT: I've tried a clean flash of the same ROM with the sim card removed and tried changing the subscription type after like I've seen in another thread, but this did not work.

This happened to me randomly. Only thing that works is RUU back to stock and go through the motions. You won't lose S-OFF, so you can then come back.

If you are S-OFF, then yes- RUU back down to 1.15. You won't need to moonshine again.

It might take a little while for it to change from roaming back to normal. Just give it time after you RUU.

I tried running the RUU from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017525
I ignored the first part about relocking since I assumed since I have s-off I don't need to, and I immediately tried to run the .exe as admin and it crashed.
UPDATE: I've relocked it now but the RUU still crashes before doing anything.

Downloading the RUU now. I've also tried flashing the 1.15 hboot and recovery, but they don't seem to have done anything. I'm still on 2.06... I unlocked my phone originally with moonshine, so my bootloader used to say moonshine s-off. now it says tampered/locked so I think hboot worked, but the recovery doesn't seem to have done anything.
UPDATE: The RUU ran it's course. Seems like the file for the other link was just bad (I had downloaded it twice). The phone is attempting to activate now, but it still can't get a signal. I know the signal at my house is usually pretty bad, but leaving it on the window sill usually does the trick. If worse comes to worse, could I at this point return it to Verizon without them knowing what's up?

the point of the 1.15 hboot is so the RUU works... if you want to return to stock to take to vzw I would follow the restore guide, i believe its posted in the regular dev section and not the original dev section

Yeah the RUU seemed to work, I just still can't get a signal. Phone says no service and I can't get past the activation screen. I say "seemed" to work because I can't check in settings because I can't get past the activation... but the bootloader looks like stock again, whereas it said tampered before the RUU.
Thank you for the help by the way, I appreciate it.

RUU worked, I'm on 1.15. However, it didn't solve my no service problem. Could this be as trivial as a SIM problem? Is there anything else it might be?

In order to recovery or restore the original phone factory setting you have to do RUU and Reset Phone*** is the way to get back
Stock recovery(= reset phone) to work properly. Even if you are on a Stock Rom it has a custom recovery so doing factory reset wont
work to restore the original phone setting.
after RUU you must do a phone reset either from setting>back up & reset or from the bootloader factory reset is the same Stock Recovery.
I read somewhere that flashing this Rom Stock rooted fix a roaming thing so you can give it a shot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471836

CM10 Install guide?

I've been (at least trying to) patiently wait for Deck to post full install instructions for CM10 but the CM10 op is still bare as bones. Has anyone else posted an install guide or instructions yet?
I'm currently rooted with RegawMod and running MeanRom 2.1 and it's really terribly laggy and frustrating, I can't wait any longer for CM10. Do I need S-off to install CM10 or do I just wipe, flash, and go?
Thanks for any help or links!
If you are on hboot 1.15 or higher you have to fast boot flash the kernel.
Other than that its just like a normal aosp install. Wipe flash rom flash gapps.
Its been my daily for 3 weeks.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
You don't need s-off. You will however have to flash the boot IMG separately by using fastboot or the app flash image GUI and a full wipe is definitely required. There is a helpful thread in Q&A called "don't panic" that will answer all your questions
Good luck

Dont use flash image gui unless you know how to do it manually through fastboot. You are just asking for issues

I'm on hboot 1.12, so does that mean I can just flash normally?
edit - From what I can tell from reading, hboot 1.12 doesn't have the same restrictions that 1.15+ do, so I think I'm OK but I would like verification.
Thanks for the help everyone.
Yes hboot 1.12 allows for access to the boot partition

If you are on Hboot 1.12 I'd strongly suggest looking into getting S-OFF. Theres really no reason not to.
Up to you though, its not required
Bit off topic, anyone check to see if you can push a new splash, right now I'm too lazy to start my PC just to fastboot one measly splash

The S-OFF guide was way over my head so I just let it be. If there's not a real good reason for doing it, and I can still run CM10, then I'd rather not.
It allows you to directly flash new firmware like radios to fix any problems a device might be having. If you have Son and want the latest firmware you have to revert back to stock and accept ota, then unlock reflash recovery and reflash custom ROM or rooted stock, you could also just flash root installer if you want to just root stock

No, S-ON people with 1.12 H-boot can flash radios and firmware from recovery. They can do whatever they please in recovery just like S-OFF. S-OFF users can flash things from bootloader and even change the appearance of their h-boot to read S-ON and **locked** even though they are S-OFF
To the OP, this is the best rooting guide I've seen. It really explains everything step by step. http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...panda-s-htc-dev-ltevo-root-dummies-guide.html Its recommended to have Linux at least bootable, because in the small chance the phone gets bricked... the unbricker program requires linux.
I ran it in windows before the unbricker was available, no issues here
You basically just hook the phone up to it and run the program like you do for most other root programs. All 1-click
Ah yeah forgot to mention that, most everyone is on 1.15 or 1.19 sorry

Alright, I got S-Off using Lazy Panda and it went better than expected!
Do I need to flash updated firmware / radios separately from CM10, or does CM10 include latest firmware?
Sorry to ask dumb questions, but I do hope this thread will also be a good resource for others like me.
You don't have to flash any firmware updates. There are a few users with issues although they may be related to the ROM update and not necessarily the firmware included. I haven't really checked since I'm s on. If you want to update the radios there's an update zip here somewhere, be sure to read through everything carefully. Radios are more risky then every day flashing
Alright everyone now I need some help!
I flashed CM10 after s-off, was on stocked 1.13 rooted rom.
Now when CM10 boots up I am faced with a phone activation screen. It says something like "you will not be able to place calls or access the mobile network until the device is activated". I am unable to make calls or receive calls or access the internet. I have tried reflashing cm10 and the problem persists.
In the mean time, I will try flashing a nand backup and see where that gets me. I appreciate any and all help, and I have found no posts in the CM10 thread with a similar issue.
Update: I wiped and restored a back-up, MeanRom 2.1. Upon boot, hands-free activation ran and activated the phone and downloaded a PRL update. Everything is working fine now. Not sure if I should try CM10 again or what? Any advice?

Yes, you should be flashing the upgraded firmware. You'll see the full firmware as the very first downloadable link. Flash that
http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...dio-Collection&p=220556&viewfull=1#post220556
Rename the file to "PJ75IMG.zip", place on root of SD card, and boot into HBOOT to flash. Check the md5 to make sure its right. With radios you want to make sure its the correct file.

[Q] Can someone help me with rooted phone not getting service please?

Hello,
I purchased a used Evo 3D for my wife and while I am familiar with rooting and modding on the Galaxy S3 (my phone) I am not familiar with the Evo 3D. My wife has not been able to get data services on her phone without being on WiFi since buying the phone. She took it to Sprint to get looked at and apparently they said the guy that owned it prior flashed it and flashed something wrong on the device so the radio is messed up. What is the best process to take this phone back to stock modem, firmware, etc.? Or is there a radio I can flash on her phone to make it work? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

That depends on what he flashed. Do you get a Virgin Mobile logo when you boot the phone?
You can try my root and S-OFF guide and stop after Step1 if you don't care about root and S-OFF, but if the Virgin Mobile firmware was flashed by the previous owner you will need to go through a separate process to clean that up before the phone will be back to Sprint stock.

If you can flash the RUU to get it back to 100% stock and data still doesn't work, then call Sprint and have them do manual provisioning of the data services. Based on what you've said so far, it sounds like voice calls are working OK?

Yea her voice calls and text messages work. Just apps (and the internet itself) that require data will not work. Is there a certain requirement for going back to stock? From what I am reading, hBoot comes into play and what not. I don't have to deal with hBoot on my phone so I am not familiar with it.

Is the phone rooted now? If so you will need to relock the bootloader, otherwise you can just flash the RUU.exe from Windows. You can check the current status by holding the VolumeDown+Power buttons until the bootloader appears.
It might be worth a call to Sprint to see if they have provisioned the data services properly before doing that. You could even go to the "Settings/System updates" from the main menu and try updating profile and prl from there before calling. The reason I recommended flashing the RUU is because Sprint told you the prior owner had flashed incorrect firmware, but that could be bad information.

I am flashing the RUU now. Will this put the radio/firmware/etc back to how the phone came? She was never able to update PRL or Profile and that is where the problem originated. We purchased the phone, activated it, and in order to provision it Sprint had us attempt the profile and PRL updates which would both fail. Sprint tech (that physically looked at it) said it had been flashed with a bad radio and that is why the phone would not accept the profile and PRL updates. I am hoping this RUU file will fix everything. I did check and the phone was not rooted (via root checker app) and when I went into the bootloader, it said the phone was s-on.
I just finished flashing the RUU. The kernel, baseband, and build all stayed the same and it still gives me an error when attempting to update the profile or PRL saying that the phone cannot access data services. Do I need to try flashing another radio at this point?
I am completely at a loss here because I found a list of all radios for this phone and she has the only one that has been released for ICS. The baseband on her phone matches the listing for the ICS radio. So I don't see how she has a bad radio. Would the kernel affect it any? Just trying to get this phone working.

If you flashed the current RUU she has the correct radio and other firmware, and Sprint can verify that. As I said in my previous post, they may have given you incorrect information, but now that you flashed the RUU and are 100% stock you can all Sprint (*2) and ask them to make sure your data services are provisioned correctly.

She doesn't even have a standard recovery for me to try a radio fix I saw in another post. When I go into recovery there is an error on the bottom of the screen (relating to some sort of file) and it won't let me click on anything. And I can't try to flash the PG86IMG.zip because from what I understand you have to be s-off. When I boot up into the bootloader it is looking for the PG86IMG.zip but says it isn't present. does that matter? How can I get the recovery back if she isn't rooted and she is s-on?
EDIT: The error is "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"

If you flashed the RUU.exe you should have the stock recovery installed and not get errors when you boot into recovery. I honestly can't remember what the stock recovery looks like when you boot into it, but I think it has a triangle or some other graphic in the midde of the screen.
Also, if the RUU.exe completed successfully you should have the correct radio and firmware so there would be no need to flash anything else. Firmware, including radio, can only be updated by flashing an RUU if you are S-ON, since updating it from the bootloader requires S-OFF.
It sounds like your RUU flash may not have been complete if you are getting errors booting into recovery. Can you take a picture using your other phone of the bootloader screen and what you get when you try to boot recovery and post it here as attachments?

Your best bet might be to go to the htcdev.com website and get the unlock token and flash it, then flash a custom recovery and see if you can boot from the bootloader into that. That's all included in step 2 of my guide. You don't need to flash SuperSU if you don't want root, but at least you can see if 4EXT recovery will boot without errors.
Here's a thread in the Android Q&A section where someone had the same error on another HTC phone and solved it by flashing a custom recovery. It sounds to me like there might be something wrong with the physical partitions on your phone.
Can you boot into the stock ICS ROM successfully? If so, it might still be worth a call to Sprint to see if they can activate your wife's data services manually.

[Q] Trying to RUU to update my firmware not working.

So I'm currently on Flyhalf's CM10.1 (S-ON), and I checked the recommended firmware/radios for the ROM and realized I'm outdated. It calls for Hboot 2.26 and radio 2.23.10.0123r, 2.23.10.0124r. but I'm on 2.25 and 1.22.10.0421r/1.22.10.0424r. I just updated to the latest version of the rom and I keep getting random bootlooping as well as the rom being way more unstable than the previous build I was on for about 4 months.
So, I'm trying to use Wildhorse's guide to updating firmware through RUU in hopes that it will solve my problems and it just plain isn't working. I've put the RUU in my external SD as PH98IMG, waited for my battery to charge to 90%, shut off the phone, pulled the battery, then gone into Hboot to flash it but I keep getting "No Image or Wrong Image" and it just goes back to the main Hboot screen every single time. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening even though I'm following everybody's directions exactly? I've been searching through the forums for about 2 hours now and I can't get an answer.
I'm still kind of new to HTC devices and how they work, so if anyone could help me figure this out I'd be very thankful.

You are on a leaked firmware, the currently available RUUs are all older than that, and you can't go back when you are S-ON. You need to S-OFF then you can RUU back to 3.14.605.12 and then OTA back up to the current 4.5.605.14

Okay, I was really hoping that wasn't the case. I hate to ask for more help, but I don't really understand how I'm supposed to get S-Off when I need to be on the stock RUU to do it, and I can't get on the stock RUU because I need to be S-Off to do so...
I hope I'm not stuck this way. Technically I'm on all the same software as I was yesterday, but now I'm getting random reboots all the time as well as bootloops that either go on for ten minutes or never end. I was on a build of CM10.1 from may with Amon Ra recovery, then tried to flash the newest TWRP that requires the new firmware (didn't realize I was on older firmware) and it bricked my phone. So I put on an older CWM recovery, tried to backup and it froze in the middle of every backup it tried to make. Put on an old TWRP, backups worked, so I flashed the newest version of CM10.1 (again not knowing I didn't have newest firmware) and that's when the bootlooping/rebooting started. I recovered to the old version of CM10.1 and the issue didn't go away, so now I'm just trying to figure out what I can do to get my phone in a usable state again.

Hey, wait a sec...
My bad, I just double checked, and with that Hboot/radio combination you are on stock ICS firmware already! Just RUU version 3.14.605.12, that should work without issues if done correctly and you should be back to pure ICS and can then allow the OTA to upgrade you in a few steps to 4.5.605.14

Oh, thank god. Hahah. I didn't remember ever flashing any leaked firmware before, so I was kind of confused there. I figured I may have done it somewhere in the unlocking/rooting process and just couldnt remember. Okay, thanks again for the help. RUU's have always confused me with the way they work. I should be stable in no time hopefully.
And now I'm having more issues... I can't use the Rom Updater because somethings wrong with my usb connection. I can plug it in and transfer files and such, but trying to use any ADB commands results in "Device not found" and the Rom Updater says it can't connect to my device either. My HTC Drivers are up to date, so I'm not sure why this is happening. Is there any way I can just get the PH98IMG.zip for 3.14.605.12 instead of having to use the RUU?
Not really sure what you are trying to run, I didn't think there was a 3.14.605.12 executable RUU, but use this page and instructions and grab the file: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...cream-sandwich-ruu-for-final-ota-3-14-605-12/
Remember you will need to RELOCK the bootloader if I am not mistaken it is possible to hard brick if you don't!
Then copy to external SD card, name the file PH98IMG.zip (beware of the Windows "double zip" issue), verify MD5 on the SDcard, then reboot into hboot and go. Do it twice!!! Let it boot up and sit for about 10 minutes to calm down, then remove the PH98IMG.zip file from the SD card. Everything should be smooth sailing from there...
You should then be S-ON, completely stock. You will need to unlock again to do anything more

Strange, re-locking the bootloader was all I needed to get the RUU to update in my bootloader. No one else said to do that in any of the instructions, but I did it and immediately it started updating with the PH98IMG that I was originally trying to flash (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38527788&postcount=745&nocache=1&z=1965375486761331).
I'm back to stock now, but firmware is 4.03.605.2, not 4.03.605.14. Is that going to be an issue or can I go right ahead with re-unlocking the bootloader and flashing recovery/roms?

Well, I have some good news and bad news...
Bad news is you are now on a leaked firmware and will have to S-OFF to go up or down in versions unless a full RUU is released for the current OTA of 4.5.605.14...
Good news is you are the global leak, and you can use the JuopunutBear S-OFF exploit from http://unlimited.io/index.htm just as if you were on the original ICS release. Also, you can S-OFF and use most ROMs and recoveries as you are now on a global mode firmware.

Lol, all right, I would have tried to get the right firmware on there but my phone got so buggy that it wouldn't even boot into the rom anymore. So I couldn't get it on the SD card and I had to make do with what I had on there. At this point, I'm just glad the phone is usable again and I might leave it stock for a while. Thank you so much for all your help, I couldn't have figured this out without you!

Cool, glad you got it working.
That firmware is actually pretty decent and rock solid stable, you shouldn't have any more software related issues... Plus you can root/ROM like normal from that version, the radios may be slightler lower than most recommended versions, but they should work fine. If you do decide to go the ROM route again, I would suggest going S-OFF before starting, it will just make it easier in the long run.
Hey, just wanted to ask some questions as a follow-up since this seems to be the most relevant (and active) thread to my issue:
Long story short, got a new (to me) Rezound. It was running CM10, from the forthnightly thread. New SIM card from Verizon and I was getting data, but the no mobile network found error. After reading the threads I could find on the error, went with the suggestion of a wipe and so I did. A few too many beers while reading thru the forums, and I did the wipe a bit too thoroughly. Now I have a no OS found, and instead of thinking I know what I'm doing I'd like to ask to make sure I understand this correctly.
Currently, the phone is S-OFF, with TWRP 2.5.0.0. It's saying I'm not rooted, but then again no OS to be rooted. The dump from my bootloader is as follows:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** LOCKED ***
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.28.0000
RADIO-2.23.10.0123r/2.23.10.0124r

After checking this thread and this one here it looks like the following applies:
* I can just run the regular RUU (executable) to load a stock image without having to revert back to S-ON first.
* I will have to re-unlock the bootloader thru htcdev after RUUing
* I'll need to reinstall TWRP
Is this right? Am I missing anything?

Okay, that's good to know. For now though, if I just wanted to get my phone working, make sure there's not a SIM issue and such I could go back to a stock image without worrying? I just would rather do a lot more reading and make sure I understand what I'm doing before I try to put a rom on and screw things up further.

No doubt its good to be cautious when you are s-off. If you are just wanting plain jane stock then you could just flash a ruu from boot loader.

S-off is S-off... installing a RUU wont change that, it may set you back to 'Locked", but you are S-off so it doesn't matter, you can stay locked&s-off and its no different than unlocked/S-off.
If you are going back to stock and are S-off I would use the Global Mode Leak (4.3.605.2) available on AndroidPolice and flash in Hboot... rename file to PH98IMG.zip and place in root of SD card (how it gets there is a irrelevant) then reboot into Hboot, confirm and wait.

Lost 4G, Can't RUU

Ok, I give up. I've tried everything I can think of, but I can't get 4G to stick on, and trying to run the 3.06 RUU gives me error 170.
Here's what happened. Yesterday I flashed Kickdroid 2.0 with the CDMA patch from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634126
- Everything seemed to install fine, and initially 4G was up. But within about a minute 4G disconnected and I no longer had any mobile data.
- So then I did a full complete wipe via TWRP - doing the factory reset, then using the advanced wipe on everything except internal storage - then restored my backup of BadSeed's Tranquil rom. It came up fine initially but then within about a minute 4G disconnected and I was put back at 3G.
- Re-wiped everything same as before, then flashed the Tranquil Rom from scratch. - Same problem. 4G connects initially then drops to 3G.
- Updated TWRP to the beta .6 version as suggested by the Kickdroid dev and re-flashed and did all those same steps again and still having same problem
- At one point last night I left the phone alone and after a long time with the kickdroid Rom re-flashed it asked me which carrier I had. I chose Verizon and then 4G stuck on for a while. Then, it lost it's connection again to 4G. This Rom never gave me any 'Service'. The lockscreen always said 'no service'
- This morning, I flashed the latest Viper and it too initially gives me 4G then about a minute later that drops and I'm stuck on 3G.
- I thought maybe it was my SIM card, so I put it in my rezound and it works just fine in that phone.
- I've been trying to RUU using the 3.06.605.4 RUU from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612740 but I keep getting error 170 saying that the device wasn't found and to plug in my usb cable.
I suspect that there is something in the CDMA patch that has done this. I say that in hopes to help narrow the problem down not to blame anyone, as I do accept the responsibility to what I have flashed on my phone, so please don't take it that way. I don't know what could remain after wiping and re-flashing but it seems as thought something has.
Anyhoo, I'm getting a little desperate at this point and hoping someone can help me out. Much appreciated...
Try flashing the recovery flashable radio?
Something could have borked the radio partition.

Lol, of course the one thing I forgot to mention that I did. I flashed the radio from .torrented's thread as well.
I think at this point I'd like to just RUU it anyway. Could it be that my bootloader is still unlocked and I have TWPR as my recovery?
Thanks a lot guys...

I would expect a problem later on if it were the bootloader being locked still, not int he beginning and then saying that the device isn't found. Or am I totally wrong and should just re-lock the bootloader and try again?

Well you mention error 170, usually its HTC Driver outdated, thats the reason that I suggest Driver update.
thought first have a working ADB/fastboot to see your phone. usb 2
you need to lock the Bootloader in order to run Ruu 3.06.exe (no problem because after RUU is done, Rumrunner unlock and S-Off Thanks to beaups
you need to update the Stock Hboot version to 3.06. thanks to Torrented

Any other android devices hooked up to that PC? I had 170 error when having both Rezound and DNA plugged in. The program may be trying to look at the other device port instead of the DNA port.
Try with locked boot loader and stock recovery. After I got rid of error 170 I got an error in the 150's (not the one mentioned in the ruu thread). It was because of custom splash image and custom recovery.

Interesting, I don't have anything connected, but I'm sure I have drivers loaded for my nexus 7
Which drivers for HTC are you using? The ones from HTC sync or the ones from pdanet? I found the pdanet ones work better for everything but HTC sync (which, who honestly uses? Lol)

Well, I let htcsync update the usb drivers and now the RUU is updating the image now.
Ok, this persisted through the RUU. Rom booted up, got 4G initially, then went to 3G.

after Ruu you most do a factory reset* from stock recovery
All that is usually needed is to restore the NV partitions on the device.
To do this, flash a stock rom and stock recovery.
Perform a factory reset in stock recovery.
Your radio should then function normally again.
No need to RUU or any of that, just a stock rooted rom and stock recovery are sufficient.
The key factor is the factory reset in stock recovery.
So if you did the RUU already, and did not do the factory reset in stock recovery, then that's why you still have an issue.

glad :good: you got it !
@santod040 which stock rom do I need to flash and what is stock recovery? Do I have to do this with adb comands or use twarp like normal flash so I can get my radio working correctly again and 4g back? Any one that can point me to what I need to do here is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My full odex stock Rom in the dev section is sufficient.
If there isn't a stock recovery posted anywhere I'll locate one for you.
Then you flash the Rom in your current recovery.
After you boot, reboot to hboot.
Then fastboot flash recovery nameoffile.img.
Then either factory reset from Recovery or from the roms settings option.

Pls locate stock recovery as I am not sure which one to use. I am downloading your odexed stock rom as we speak. I appreciate this very much! @santod040

I've tried running the RUU from htc website. Tried to flash backups from here, nothing.... Also tried flashing the 0p6bimg.zip and it tells me Hboot Version is older! Update fail! Device halted due to Large Image fail!..... I just want my phone to work at this point lol

I am S-ON, this is the rom I tried to flash. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743574 which in the comments towards the end it stated that I didn't needed to be S-OFF... but then again its the internet... I got too excited and forgot to nandroid backup, I don't mind going S-off but what's happening is in my about device, I have no imei and such. So sunshine tells me about the kernel.

So the problem is the new firmware and the way apns are now controlled. You can try flashing a lower version 100% stock sense Rom (not ruu since you cannot downgrade firmware). Once on lower stock Rom try sunshine. If you can get s-off you can then downgrade your firmware and try cm again.

Could you pin point me towards the required rom, if it's not too much to ask.
Edit: I flashed a ATT_1.58_STOCKED_DEODEXED, and everything is back and running! About to go get S-OFF then MAKE an nandroid, and then upgrade to lollipop! Yay!

No problem, I actually was like.... Oh yeah left lol but hey sometimes you got the hard way. Let me get your opinion, I love cyanogenmod UI, I currently have the skydragon lollipop rom with htc sense... Hate the UI of sense. I had flash CM12 nightly but sd card weren't mounting when connected to pc, could I get the skydragon rom GPE from the regular htc one m8 development section?

RUU will work as long as you relock bootloader, right RUU for your CID, and you are not trying to "downgrade" (run lower RUU with hboot number lower than what is currently on the phone).

I got it fixed after I flashed a deoxed stock rom. Finally made backup. S-OFF and currently on Eragon ROM.

Sounds great. My previous post was as much for general information, as much as it was for this "specific case". And in fact, now that you have s-off you don't need to relock the bootloader to run RUU in the future, nor does the version check apply.
