Yeah, we know but GB is not so much customizable. Also, you don't need to suggest everyone in this way because developers are currently modding the ICS fw so it us disrespectful. Everyone has their choices.

So what's ur.point?
Sent from my ST25i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

point is to show 'clear' kernels (only root ,no addictional options or fixes) which are made for 3.184 from this sorry word word ' mess ' - try to find something in search bar " xperia u root " "st25 kernel" "3.184 root" or other possibilities.
i found to two this day - one which they say you have to use on 3.184 but really kernel represents 1.564
second broken also represents 1.564
so none actually kernel represents 3.184
loaded "ST25i_6.0.B.3.184_Generic_World.ftf" and in orginal shows Phone Software Version: 1254-3522_6.0.B.3.184
and i want to save new people from getting streessed why their phone loosing signal

Hope this is not April Fool ---Finally Bootloader is bypassed !!

I really hope this is not a joke ..Please check this post. Looks like bootloader of X10 (so it should be similar for mini / mini pro / X8) is finally bypassed.

For X10: Yes. For X10 mini/mini pro: Not Yet, maybe not at all.
So I can use a custom OS but I must use an SE kernel
the basics are the same , its based on kexec ...so if it works for X10 it will work for mini / mini pro as well (but might needs some modifications). And with this you can have a CUSTOM kernel (this is what was lacking so far - you did have a custom OS but due to kernel limitations of SE - not all the features were available to us - like no native teethering or FPS cap ) with CUSTOM OS.
But on X10 it needs a crash without reboot in an specific basebandversion to work. So its more complex then just trying the same on X10 mini pro, but not impossible, because it is now know how to go on after the crash.
currently its alpha state , so crash is not something to be bothered with. The way is known , so it wont be specific to big X10
Good luck hope you guys do manage to pull it off
Why cant they just make it simple
Do they realize easy to hack products are a huge bonus?
Because they fear easy to hack = easy to bypass sim locks etc etc, they fear for their relationship with the carriers as they are their "Business Partners".
Sent from my X10minipro using XDA App
Easy similar unlock didn't hurt the sgs and Samsung too much either. The sgs is still selling well and it was unlocked few weeks after release...
Again, their have been numerous time myself and others have not bought a phone because of the sim lock feature.
Sadly SE does not see it that way. They said that on their blog release anyway. ( my last post, though not the same wording but similar meaning )

[Q] Help would be appreciated!

Hi there, and let me introduce myself. My nickname is Phantoome and i'm new to Android.
I'm coming from an iPhone 3Gs and wanted to try something different.
I ended up buying the Sony Ericsson Xperience Mini Pro SK17i!
It had everything i needed untill i unboxed the phone lol
No seriously, i dig the Android os. Pretty neat tbh.
But i wanted to start modding some stuff about it!
Like first of all removing the factory crap, maybe try a decent theme..
But i've seen all those terms and all for example:
- ROMs (Custom firmware?)
- Flashing (Don't know this one for sure.)
I read i should be rooting the phone to be able to get root access,
or getting a different Android version (ROM?) to make it speed up and look nicer.
I recently figured out that MiniCM7Pro should do the trick for me.
I just don't want anything usefull to be having issues (like the camera, flash, gps, reception, etc..)
So i was wondering if anyone could be having some tips for me here?
Like good tutorials or something, because i noticed there are 100s of them and i don't know where to start really..
I ended up here, which made me end up here to root it first,
Now i'm not sure what to do next as i don't want to brick the phone.
He states:
- Root
- CWM
- Only 2.1.1.A.0.6 SE firmware
- Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Click to collapse
If you not 2.1.1.A.0.6, you need to flash FTF file via FlashTool.
Click to collapse
Should i flash the .ftf file he gives, or the stock firmware which i downloaded here (Also from this board somewhere)?
And i'm not sure which baseband i got either, don't think we use that alot here, never had issues with that on my iPhone either.
Update: I have successfully rooted the phone.
Now i think i have to downgrade (Flash?) the sucker.
ROM is the Android itself, in common words (anyone correct me if any mistakes).
Flashing: I think I won't be able to explain that.
And you are in the wrong forum. This is Xperia X10 Mini Pro, and you bought Xperia Mini Pro (without X10, they are different models in almost everything). So ask there and you maybe get a better answer.
Holy crap, how did i not notice? I'd move this thread if i was able to..
But if a mod spots this, move it if you can. I'll await reaction untill then.
Update:
I managed to get CyanogenMod 7 to work on the phone, guess Android wasn't that hard, thanks for all the nice people to help me xD
Only thing that's not working at the moment is my hardware keyboard after i've been in a 4 hour bootloop...
Maybe in a few more hours i get the keyboard to work and i'm at where i want it to be
Update:
Got the hardware keyboard to work! Aren't i a good self learning Android Student! ^^
Now one small thing left.. Getting the hardware keyboard to work azerty style instead of qwerty.
It's only partially now, as my numbers and symbols don't match the layout yet, AZQ&W do.
Update: Works!! And it only took me an hour and a half to figure out thanks to this topic.
Any moderator seeing this, this thread can be closed forgood. I've been succeeding on my own in one day.
Guess Android isn't that hard after all. You just gotta be patient and accept to learn new things.
In 24 hours, more or less.. Coming from an iPhone and haven't even used an Android in my entire life, i:
- Rooted my SE Mini Pro.
- Unlocked my Bootlock.
- Flashed to Cyanogenmod with the help of the FreeXperia tutorial and ROM.
- Fixed my Hardware keyboard input.
- Fixed the language settings of my hardware keyboard.
- Got proud of myself.

Yet i could've made over 20 posts in this topic only if i didn't kept updating my last post lol
Thanks for reading this silly and yet informative thread on how a total noob took the selftraining course in Android.

Hi, if you searched for it on Google and XDA (as I just did to check), it likely has not been rooted yet. Sorry! The best thing you could do is to google search and search XDA every week or so, maybe something will turn up soon!
I might get one of these, as they're $100 on Target's website for Cyber Monday.
Not enough people have them for someone to invest the time into rooting, but a common root method might work...

Got mines at walmart for $79. I have the same kernel as him except my firmware version is 4.0.3.
Still can't find anything on this damn tablet. Almost wish I didn't buy it heheh.
Supposedly root is available on M-270 but I still can't install Superuser. su is present in xbin too. I tried to use superoneclick and it said it was rooted then I tried to continue with root anyway and it froze. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution yet?

I successfully rooted my Maylong M270 by using the software in the linked thread. I was able to install Google Play, and from there I updated SuperUser and BusyBox. Titanium Backup works properly. Without a custom kernel, overclocking is impossible for the moment, and I'm not too sure on how a kernel (or custom recovery and ROM for that matter) can be ported, but the root is here and working.

I call bogus on this post. I tried both means to root the Maylong M270 using this method and it does not work. Instead of just posting "I DID IT", why not help out the users and post HOW you did it... simply following the links and downloads on the post you've referenced doesn't do it.

I know it's been way long since the OP, but a tool called "ICS root" (can be found on SourceForge) will unlock this tablet. The device is a bit temperamental so once you run the .bat in terminal, you will have to manually restart and log back into the tablet before continuing each prompt at the terminal. Eventually after 2 -3 prompts, the .bat will be finished and the tablet will "update Android", a sign that you have successfully rooted.
Good luck all.

However, I'm not allowed to post links, since I have not posted before. So I'm going to post this info in a series of posts, hoping that by the end, links will be allowed.
To find more info on your tablet there is an app in the Play store called CPU Identifier that will tell you what type of board you have in the tablet. Search for that board name on XDA to find rooting advice.

Custom ROM and ROOT for Maylong M-270
But the short story is, there is a way to root this tablet, but even better there is a custom ROM available. HardcoreHacker over at "techknow dot me" has been working hard on this. The key to figuring this out was realizing the WM8950 SOC chip set used in this tablet is the same as the WM8850. They are interchangeable. The rom is called Uberoid and is Jellybean 4.1.1, and it works great. My tablet runs very well now, and doesn't lock up all the time like it used to. I also have a link where you can download the original firmware from Maylong. So I'm trying to get some posts here so I can do a proper link, however here are some ugly links to try.
Original Firmware:
maylonggroup dot com forward slash Tablet_downloads.htm
and Uberoid Link
3w's "dot" techknow "dot" me "forward slash" forum "forward slash" index.php?topic=5356.0
Again, I apologize for the very cryptic links - I will work on getting them posted properly. I have two of these tablets and both are running Uberoid. I'm very satisfied with it. The only issue I have (on both tablets) is the battery monitoring is very poor. But this is in the kernel I think because it is the same as it was before the custom ROM.
NOTE! - as you will see on the Maylong Site, there are two different models of this tablet - You can tell which you have based on your serial number, but I think this is a pretty important distinction. If you have the same model as I do, you are going to need JingHan_MID7_V715_8228_FT5206.fwc from the Uberoid List. My model's serial number is M2701204 which is in the same group as M2701202, M2701203, and M2701205)

Rooting desire x

First off newbie alert,
i actually did root my xperia mini last year but its been a year and i have forgotten completely about it.
I am facing continuous restarts so i am looking to root my phone. I also want to get rid of sense (but thats after rooting, right?)
Please refer me to some easy guide( guides on xda are mind boggling) or tell me manually about it..
i came across this one click root method too but i am suspicious as i WOULDN'T want to BRICK my device.
My software versions are,
ICS OPERATING SYSTEM
CID- HTC_038 (INDIA)
SOFTWARE NUM. - 1.18.720.3
SDK API LEVEL - 4.24
HTC EXTENSION VERSION - HTCEXTENSION_403_1_GA_24
KERNEL - [email protected]#1 SMP PREEMPT
baseband version - 10.21.40.06U_1.12.40.03
Again i don't know much about these numbers except for software version..
Thank you

First update to latest software. If there are still continuous restarts, then I woultd teke the phone to htc service.
after you fix your phone, you can start rooting your phone. there is no one click root method for desire x.
I used this guide for my first root
Before you update have a look at any apps you've installed lately because that could be causing it or any files you've changed on your phone, if you have then consider restoring the original file or returning to factory, i had a similar issue when i used a rooting method from Youtube which turned out to be for a much older device.

Development in 2017

This is a message to the remaining users of the former Xperia flagship, in particular mini and mini pro. I know that you are still out there and using this magnificent piece of device. I have a question for you.
What rom combination are you guys using in 2017 which provides the phone to be most stable. Development has ceased and most of the rom links are broken or dead. But there still is some shimmering light, like cm 13 legacy rom. Also a few threads still cover mirror links.
Can you please share your experience in this thread.
I use my xperia mini as a mp3 player and alarm clock now.If you want a stable rom use official cm 11 kit kat rom.I know there are android 5 and 6 roms out there but they are heavier and not so stable in my opinion.Cm 11 works absolutely bugfree, or at least i didn't encounter any bug.Keep in mind though that you can't use it as a smart phone nowdays, a single heavy app running will fill the entire ram and make the phone lag.But still is a great phone for ordinary usage.

That sounds nice, will see if I'll try cm11. Currently I'm on radium v4 rom from karandpr. This basically is a heavily stripped stock rom, with speed and battery enhancements. Its really fast and covers all basic needs. Although it is true that apps from nowadays are to heavy. Bright side is that we can still find light weight apps on playstore for almost all needs

There are lots of ways, it depends on your preference. For example do you want to modify system partition (flashing kernel), you need to unlock your bootloader. If you want to flash rom only, you can maintain your locked bootloader. Basically this are the steps:
1 backup necessary data
2 root (one click or comprehensive)
3 unlock bootloader (optional)
4 fastboot flash cwm recovery/kernel of rom choice
5 wipe
6 flash rom through cwm recovery
Like I said there are many ways. There is an index thread in the development section, which contains tutorials for al the steps I just mentioned.
Hi again,
I finally found the way to make things work with the SK17i!! At the moment I'm trying to install ROMs and see whats working or not. This Radium ROM you are using, do you have the links to download? Does it works with nAa JB kernel? Thanks!!

Radium is based on ics. Rom was working perfectly. I only had problems with a few app compatibility. That is why i switched to los 14.1.
