L9 P769 No Space for Any Applications - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hey everyone,
Very recently, my rooted P769 on Jellybean (20f) isn't letting me install any applications because there is no free space. But that isn't true - I have 560 MB free on my internal SD! At first I was down to about 150 MB free, but I couldn't install any applications then, so I deleted some applications and cleared some data so now I have about 560 MB free, but I still can't install one small 5 MB application! I haven't done any app2sd (I only have 2 GB free on my external SD so there would be no point anyways). I also have CWM recovery 6 by artas but I haven't installed anything with it recently. Any help? Maybe there is a way to modify build.prop to allocate more space for application data?
Any help would be really appreciated, because I can't install any application on my phone right now.

Try checking your clockworkmod/backup folder on your internal sd card. if you have one or two in there it will make a difference. Transfer those files to your SD card. Sounds like you need a new sd card as well. Get a 16gb one from Wal-Mart for like $15! Once you get your new SD Card then follow this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44683922#post44683922
Good Luck!

I don't think you understand my problem. I have 560 MB of free space on my internal SD, but I can't install any applications because every time I try I get an error that I don't have enough space, regardless of the size of the application. I should be able to install a 5 MB application if I have more than 5 MB of free space. I have a 32 GB class 10 external SD card (and I have a couple CWM backups on it) but it's almost full so doing Link2SD isn't realistic, not to mention the many problems that Link2SD has been known to cause. If somebody has had this problem before, where they definitely have enough free space to install applications but their phone tells them they do not, I'd appreciate some assistance.

I had this problem once, I've read that that the system could not remove an app or something, sorry but the only way I fixed was by restoring a cwm backup. I spent a good while trying to solve it, but nothing I found worked.

I had this problem with a different phone once, when I believe I tried to install and uninstall the same app for a lot of times, it finally refused to do so. End up flash the whole ROM.

You could try uninstalling the last few apps you installed or fix permissions before you dump the rom

I hope that your 5mb application is not TitanBackup and you are not having LuckyAbcxyz in your phone! If you do, that's the source of your problem, and you can see if all the time and troubles you got worth the pirated stuffs...

If u are using remount SD to switch ur ext sd with ur internal SD then u need to make a folder called external_SD in ur sdcard0 folder after u use remountsd to switch storage.. if not, then I say u need to use remountsd and use jb settings to change ur storage.. if u want I can link u to the instructions post of remount SD
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Download remountsd and OPEN it.. (must have root) click on the wrench settings icon and input these mounts to their respected places
JB Settings:
Interne SD - /storage/Sdcard0
External SD - /storage/Sdcard0/external_sd
Target external SD card - /storage/sdcard0
Reboot ur phone and when finished media scanning go to ur storage and see the changes. I've experienced if problem before and I had to not only hard reset the phone I also had to flash a cwm backup stock of my current Rom
IF remountsd doesn't work right away u need a fresh install of Rom THEN try remountsd. Remountsd is a Definite for switching storages

[Q] internal memory becoming short even after moving all the apps to sd card

internal memory becoming short even after moving all the downloaded apps to sd card..... do any body have any solution....????
Did you clean the cache from the browser and other apps ?
Even if you move apps to the sdcard through Apps2SD, Android still installs stuff to the phone's internal storage for the dalvik cache and Using something like Link2SD with a partitioned memory card will solve this.
If you use Link2SD, DO NOT use Apps2SD of anykind. they are counterproductive.
The LG509P Optimus T only has 200MB internal storage.
I use an 8GB card partitioned with a 512MB ext2 partition for Link2SD. With all the apps I have installed (about 35-40), my internal phone storage is only using 55mb or so, with everything else going to the card automatically through Link2SD.
Clean browser & facebook or other apps cache and data.
create an partition on your device and download a2sd gui from market and flash darktremor a2sd script via recovery...then reboot and open a2sd gui app and select app on sd...in the dalvik cache tab select move cache to sd-ext.
links are here:
for a2sd gui:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12069632#post12069632
and for the script: kindly search google.
hit the thanks button if I have helped you.
here is the script which is working on my phone
please check if your rom supports it...I dunno which ones do..but the forum and some google search might help..
hit the thanks button if i have helped you.
Link2Sd requires no special script or custom recovery for install or rom checking. All you need is a partitioned sd card, and to download the app from the market.
Guys which one is better installing apps2sd script of link2sd?

With link2sd you have a GUI and a choice what to move to SD. With apps2sd, everything is moved, no choice, no GUI. Decide for yourself.
how much of memory does links2sd free ??? with data2sd my internal memory is 140 mb free...yeah its a little cumbersome but once done no worries...

Uhm... Depends on how many apps you move, surprisingly You can move the app, dalvik cache and libs (manually or automatically, all configurable).

thats because your dalvik-cache is on phone..
NOTE: SOme ppl report that phone gets a little slower with dalvik-cache on sd..
try this
open terminal
type "su"
then u get a # prompt
execute this "a2sd cachesdreset"
Phone wil reboot and it might TAKE a while in rebuilind dalvik-cache
..you have a lot of free space in phone now..Check it
maximum free memory
well but whats the maximum memory free..
I dont see any harm in moving everything at one to the extention...i am too lazy and prefer shifting everything at once
Dude just follow the steps everything is automated..You will get arnd 150~160mb free after its done..
I've got about 35-40 apps on my phone, using a Class 4 8GB sd card, and my phone has 155mb free. there are some things you don't want to move through Link2SD (such as desktop widgets) or they dont work.
im a newbie.... can you tell me how to partition the sd card......
Dude install custom recovery(I m using AMonra2.2.1) ..Then boot into the recovery and select Partition Sd card ..Select all upgrade options one by one and settle for ext4..And
these options will partition
swap=0
ext=512
fat=rest
using rom manager is another alternative...use the values as given above by sarfaraz

[Q] Problem downloading Google Maps

I have a rooted HTC Aria running CM 7. I tried downloading Google Maps, but get this error: "There is insufficient space on the device". There is only 139 MB on the phone, even after I moved several apps to the sd card, but the card has over 6 GB free, and isn't that where downloads go?

that would be a no they go to the phone first then you can move it to the sd, so how much free memory do you have on the phone?
Google Maps only takes about 11MB, so if you have more than that free, I don't know why you'd get that message.

This is a memory problem related to the app download cache allocated with CM7. A good remedy and a good way to dramatically increase your phone's storage memory:
- download and use Rom Manager to create a partition on the sd card. (This erases the sd card so back it up first.)
- download and run S2S to move cache and program files to the sd card partition. This program tricks the phone to use the sd card as additional memory. It also creates a larger application download cache so you will have no problem downloading Google Maps. It only works with CM7.

What is S2S? How different is it from the DT app2sd??
S2E is what he meant. It is the same thing as DT's apps2sd, but it only works with CM7. It's much easier to use S2E than DT's.
Sent from my Aria using XDA Premium App
yeah, s2e is awesome, its running great, with no lag. I have been using it for about 3 months now with no problems. even with around 130 apps I still have the available storage of 160mb. I have moved all my apps and dalvik cache to sd. it was so easy to set up. I used rom manager and CWR to partition my sd to 512mb with swap disable, re-flash cm7 and restore my backup, done. I did try mounting my sd with ext4 but it was a little buggy so I re formatted and went back.

You can't just move files/dirs like that. You have to set up symlinks too.
If you don't know how to do that, it might be best if you don't mess around anymore.

isnt there a way i can get the data to automatically save on to my internal storage space?
which rom you use?
In CM (and CM based) roms you can change the storages so that you will be able to use the internal storage as the app storage. notice that it will change the storage settings for all the other apps (For example, the camera storage location will be in the internal instead of the SD card)

I got same phone and same ROM and you can't choose default installation place, because S3 has internal storage for apps.
Maybe some notes from my experience will helps to you:
1. Not enough space error - this error causing not only when you have few storage space, this error may cause when not enough space in cache, where play store downloading updates/new apps before install. So in such situation any cleaner will helps to you, i'm using SD Maid Pro, but free Clean Master on any other cleaner will be useful
2. If you will install lot of heavy apps (Like i do) - you will always suffer from a lack of free space, so you need something to move heavy data from phone storage to SD-card - my choice was Folder Mount, that moved android\data and android\obb to sd-card but you can link absolutely any folders in internal card to SD.
3. Abut updates it is not clearely, can you provide more info about your phone, what update you trying to install and some logs/screenshots/description about error in installation?

[Q] App Storage

Hi there,
I was wondering if somebody could answer, why the App Storage for the Desire X is limited to 2.9 GB. Apparently some apps can no lobger be Moved and I currently seem to have only 18 MB free. An installation of an update of Facebook (19 MB) or Chrome (36 MB) often fail unless I have cleared all the cahces.
Can somebody tell me how to increase this space? I have used cache Cleaner to Move all apps to sd card that were possible to move.
Maybe sb. has some ideas.
Thanks
Andy
You can install a micro SD card and move a few apps to SD if possible. If that's not enough, root your phone, partition your sd card so it has an ext4 partition and install Link2SD from Google Play. Then, you can move any apps to your sd card.

How can i install a micro SD card???:good:
i can insert one though
I think I moved all the Apps I can and I don't think rooting will do the trick.
Under AppStorage in Settings I used up 2.73 GB / 2.90 GB
Apps 0.91 GB
Other 1.81 GB
I am stumbling over the Other category.
I recently found out that my camera actually saved to phone memory and not to my sd card. I changed it now and actually moved the files.
But why is other so high here? If Apps only take up 0.91 GB that would be fine.
Did your clear the apps caches? Maybe it helps.

Thanks for the advice. I installed it, but I don't really now what I'm looking at, or what I should be looking for.
I'll try wiping my phone completely soon, and reinstalling everything. Right now it has errors often stating I don't have enough space.
