Until youtube provides a setting to allow playback with screen off...ill be sticking ti this youtube modded app which also allows real 720p/1080p playback although 1080 is buggy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715

There is a similar application which can do the same thing like the floating thumbnail video. It's called " super video" download it from play store... Best part its Free !!!
