Sunlight legibility - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Hi, how this huge phone performs at direct sunlight?

It's brighter than my Note 1 under direct sunlight, very readable.

Yes, in direct sunlight+sun glasses it's still very good

Better than note 2
i9205 Tmobile USA

The SC LCD is known to be brighter and has more accurate colors than AMOLED.

What type of lcd it has ? PLS OR ANY OTHER?:what:

It's Super Clear LCD. It has more accurate colors and brighter than AMOLED without any of the AMOLED problems (yellowish/bluish whites, black clipping/crush, short life span, etc.).

I think it's more expensive than PLS as it's what Samsung uses for their low end devices and they usually have low PPI.

Yeah , I think that's right coz no pls screens have resolution more than 720p (correct me if i am wrong) .But it have better color reproduction and vividness and comparatively better sunlight legiblity than the flagship AMOLED (I THINK SO *)

If you're asking about what type of glass, we don't know. It's not listed on the Gorilla Glass lists, HTC says says about a proprietary type of high strength glass.

Lol at Retina Display. That is actually IPS.
I can't say since I haven't seen it first hand. SLCD should provide sharper colors than what an LCD display does.
Edit: in all honesty I really don't like AMOLED or even SAMOLED. The colors are way too oversaturated

IPS is just a type of LCD screen. In fact they're almost all just variants of TFT LCD's, except the OLED screens.

Yeah i guess it just irks me when people do IPS vs TFT when IPS is a form of TFT. What would be more correct is saying IPS vs TN (which is the cheapest and worst looking LCD).

That's cool. People can totally have preferences. I love both, i've seen both. To say one is factually better is ridiculous though. I hate blanket statements like "betters it," especially when on paper, it doesn't.

Apparently, "HD" - yes... Although thanks to the upgraded RES/DPI, they had to downgrade from the Plus' "Real Stripe" RGB display back to Pentile.
The next generation phones, after the Galaxy Nexus will then have a true upgrade to Super AMOLED HD Plus which will maintain the high RES/DPI as well a have RGB support again.

I think we need a list of things that we can make factual comparisons.. you know, take the opinions out. you cant debate facts, they are what they are.
does the screen have banding - yes - fact
is the screen pixelated - yes - fact
s there a grainy look - I think this is an opinion
Whites look yellow - yes - Fact
We need more True/False things to use for comparisons

Some pixels not as dark as others

Just noticed the other day when I pulled down my notification bar. In the lower left quadrant I can see a small circle of pixels that are darker than the rest of the screen. I can only see it in a dark room with a black background. Anyone else with this issue?

It's called "black crush" and last I heard, Supercurio was trying to develop something to alleviate it. Google search it and you should see some results

Those are the "blotches" that you will hear people talk about. They are common on the Samsung SAM-OLED screens and have been a problem since the Galaxy S. If it really bothers you your best bet is return it and try another one, but that is hit or miss you might get one thats worse. Its a problem with manufacturing process of the screen (no software fix).
I guess it's kinda relieving to know it's common but not at the same time

It doesn't have to do with the retina displays...just the type of material. Apple and HTC use LCD variants and the manufacturing process doesn't introduce these black ink marks.

I personally prefer LCD over amoled, just feels better to touch and premium.

After having an iPhone 7 + and the Note 7, I personally prefer the AMOLED, but I prefer my backgrounds black, and to use minimal colors for the power savings of the AMOLED. But the 7+ display is really really good for an LCD, so much so that the black really looks black compared to what I am use to LCD displays looking like. The 1080 actually doesn't bother me one bit. iOS more so. Miss a few things from Android. Colors on the AMOLED always look a bit more vibrant, but the iPhone is no slouch either. And yes, the iPhone feels fast as h3ll. Actually even the 150 Moto G 4th Gen that I got from Amazon feels faster than the Note 7 in day to day use.

Clarity/resolution

The Honor 8 Pro has a crazy crisp display. Just kidding, this is automated text so who knows if this screen is any good. So, you be the judge! A higher rating indicates that it's extremely sharp and clear, and that you cannot see pixels with your naked eye.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I'm one of those who feels 1080p is good enough on smartphones. So 2K is overkill. To me, it's just a bonus and nice to have.
I haven't found huge differences between this and a 1080p screen but having a 2k screen feels nice.
The colors are punchy.
Sent from my Honor 8 pro using Tapatalk
At this size FHD or 2k, well there is a difference and this screen is very sharp (and surprisingly power efficient), but FHD would be enough. This however doesn't remove the fact that this screen is excellent.
Screen is the direct point of contact with the device. If there is a better screen at this price, why would i not take it?
True FHD is the best balance between all that a typical user needs and power efficiency, this LTPS panel does a fantastic job. Everything has been put together so well.
Outdoor brightness is quite sufficient as well.
