have you tried it buddy? The cwm?

Doesn't work or is the same CWM we already have.
I flashed it over the exiting CWM and it looks the same, certainly is not touch activated.

Does this method still show the 2 red lines of code at the top when booting?

I'm having an absurd issue with my phone and really would like some expert advice.
I just bought my phone (GT-I9205). Is still all stock. I am trying to install CWM Recovery with ODIN but seems nothing gets flashed into the phone except that I am stuck with the stock Recovery.
USB Drivers correctly installed on my laptop and the flash process seems successful under ODIN (..tar file upload to phone goes smooth and and then phone successfully resets). But when I go back to Recovery mode, actually, nothing was flashed. Same old stock recovery screen. What the hell? Am I doing something wrong in ODIN settings (CWM tar file flashed as PDA and everything else as default), or is my phone crazy?.. I really have no idea whats going on. In fact Ive tried flashing other versions of CWM and same thing happens.
And my stock recovery screen itself has issues problems.. when entering the recovery mode it briefly displays the word ERROR and I get a sad Android guy with a RED explanation mark with the wording NO COMMAND. Totally stuck. I have positively no idea whats going on. Years flashing phones and doing all sorts of things, nothing like this before..
My phone was an open box.. maybe someone did something to it and totally messed it up.. no clue..

please is this valid for the 9205 lte? thankes

pleas delete

I tried this and it worked on the bell version model I527M

The red line when booting will gone if you flash back your kernel. ..stock kernal...
The rooting kernal is to provide su update...

I... seem to have an issue. I can't seem to find the USB Debugging mode on my GT-i9200... I literally don't have the option. Or... I'm going crazy.

1. Goto Settings -> About Phone.
2. Goto “Build Number” at the end of the Scroll list.
3. Tap on “Build Number” repeatedly (7 times). On your third tap you should see message indicating that you only have 4 more taps to go to ‘become a developer’.
4. Continue: 4 more taps.
5. Hooray, you are now a ‘Developer’, go back to the Setting page.
6. You should see Developer Option menu item in your setting list now.
7. Open Developer Options and check USB debugging > Ok

On my first firmware I9200 XSE XXUMAEE, I have rooted the device using latest i9200-cwm-recovery(201362118259).tar and superSU 1.51 and works fine, then I reinstall ( flash ) the firmware using the original firmware from sammobile XSE XXUMAEE to restore back everything to receive OTA into XSE XXUBMJ4, when UBMJ4 successfully updated my I9200 I tried to install i9200-cwm-recovery(201362118259).tar and flashed successfully via odin, and I used the usual way to boot into CWM but cannot run and the device run the stock recovery. I've tried last TWRP 2.0.3 and still the same. There is no other way and I flash original I9200 XSE XXUMAEE ( Downgrade ) and clean the device using CWM ( format /system ) then flash again I9200 XXUMAEE. Now I'm still using XXUMAEE and rooted, waiting for the new CWM. This is all my experience. at CWM last log all my i9200 system back to XXUMAEE except bootloader still remain XXUBMJ4.
By the way what is kingoroot??? never heard that.

Guys, When I tried XXUBMJ4 on my I9200, it run like android 4.3 have move to sd feature and everything new and consume less RAM. Can't hardly wait for new CWM.
Thanks for the experts who create this CWM.
Love CWM more than TWRP.

Noob help for flashing ClockWorkMod Recovery

First i want to ask if i the phone must be rooted before installing ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.5"
I have installed the samsung usb drivers and ADB drivers and enabled usb debugging on phone. I tried to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.5" following the instructions on the forum but when all was finished in odin and the icon went green (PASS) and the phone rebooted i powered it off and then powered it on with vol up + power + home but the phone went to the Android system recovery and not to the ClockWorkMod Recovery
If you flash with odin correctly HOLDING home + vol up + power should get you to CWM recovery , where you can install SU access (root)
If not, try first to turn off device , take out battery , insert it again and then reboot with buttons hold. if STILL nothing try to flash with odin again
I managed to install the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.0 with odin v3.04 and tested it works fine but still no ClockWorkMod Recovery. I tried to flash agian the CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5 with odin v3.04 and same problem. when all the process is finished and i go to recovery menu it shows the Android system recovery
weird , have you tried popping out the battery for a couple of secs ?
yes
Try the toolkit.
can you tell me step by step instruction for the toolkit because it's a little bit confusing? Which option should i choose if i want to install ClockworkMod Recovery?

tried option 4 and still the same problem. Is there a possibility that the problem happens because i don't have sim card installed to the phone yet?
Is it possible to flash the ClockWorkMod Recovery from mobile odin pro?
problem solved i flashed the recovery using mobile odin pro
i had a similar issue when i rooted using CF Root. i ended up updating Odin to 3.04 and using CF Root 6.3, worked a treat.
I'm having the same issue. I've tried the toolkit on my windows machine (option 4). Then tried Heimdall on my mac and got the same results - No CWM and only stock recovery. Oddly enough, my Odin mode says "custom" for binary (count 6) and system status.
Coming from an HTC phone with fastboot I'm used to ./fastboot and ./adb'ing :O

S3 cannot boot into recovery mode

Hi All
First of I would like to thank you all for having me on your forum.
Second, I live in South Africa, I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and my service provider is Vodacom.
I am trying to root my device.
I did manage to get into the "Downloading" Mode and using Odin I managed to install the "clockworkmod"
The next step is to boot into recovery mode (Press and hold Volume Up, Home Button & Power Button) but my S3 does not want to go into recovery mode. When I follow the steps it freezes on The Galaxy Logo.
I really want to root my device to use ALL of the awesome stuff you guys develop.
Thank You in advance.
Only hold vol up + home + power until you see the white galaxy s3 writing then release
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Hi
Thank You for the Reply.
I did only hold it down until the logo pops up and then I released.
It still freezes. I have tried holding it in for longer.
I have checked the net and came across different methods and that did not work.
Could it be that Vodacom changed how it goes into recovery mode?
I would say flash an open fw through Odin. *2767*3855# to clean phone from obsolete data. Make sure to backup what you need. Flash CF through Odin.
Boot to recovery through cwm app.

I am very sorry if I appear stupid, but is there somewhere where I can get Step by Step instructions?
Thank You
go here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9300&r=1#regiona
given that you have international i9300 downlolad on from the link above. extract it and it will be in tar or tar.md5 extension.
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238 and download ODIN, put extracted tar that you downloaded from sammobile at PDA section of Odin do not check anything else in Odin.
put device in download mode by pressing vol down+home+ power on, press vol up to acknowlede the warning.
connect device. before pressing Start make sure nothing from Kies program is running.
press start.
wait till it is over and phone reboots.
then *2767*3855#
wait till reboot.
go again at the second link i gave you and download latest CF root.
put it in Odin again at PDA section. put device in download mode connect. press start. wait till reboot. you are rooted. to boot in recovery select cwm app that is in appdrawer and select to boot in cwm.
flash yhe roms that you want.
Try "tool kit" from mskip. Step by step guide.very easy.
u just Dl. From links above and use tool kit to backup and flash.
all root and recovery tools are included.only full firmware is not included

To install the custom recovery ClockworkMod, the process simple and immediate that in recent periods seems to be has become a fashion. The method is to insert the file CMW.zip (containing the recovery ClockWorkMod) in SD, then launch it from original recovery. In this way, we have temporarily installed the recovery Clockworkmod without flasharla with Odin or the like and we can easily install root permissions or other without changing the recovery stocks. ( recovery temporary )...This process, however, seems to be not recommended for all terminals Samsung because it is quite harmful in most cases: temporarily installing the recovery (contained in this file CMW.ZIP ) on particular types of kernel Ice Cream Sandwich, you may incur in a total block of the device.

Thanks a lot! Didn't find it for the sgs3 international. I did it on my sgs2 and it's a great way to root your device and make nandroid backups without flashing the cf kernel But how do you make an cwm.zip out of the IMG or tar file? As far as I know you can't open tar files in stock recovery but only in Odin? :/

How to Install ClockworkMod Touch
1. Download the attached tar file at the bottom of this post. DO NOT EXTRACT THIS FILE! If you end up with a recovery.img file then smack yourself and start again.
2. Download Odin (windows only) at the bottom if you don't already have it and unzip it to a folder on your PC
3. Reboot into Download Mode: Power off your device, Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.
4. Plug your usb cable in
5. Start Odin (double click Odin3_v3.04.exe).
NOTE: When Odin opens you should see that the first box at the top under ID:COM should turn blue and 'Added' should appear in the message box in Odin.
6. Make sure 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' are ticked in Odin and nothing else.
7. Click on the 'PDA' button in Odin and browse to the recovery-cwm-touch-6.0.1.2-i9300.tar file that you downloaded.

What you require is the Holy Grail of flashing repair that would allow many with no USB or borked phone to root from sd card and install stock firmware from sd card .

Sadly there are differences in partition layouts between S2 and S3. S2 allows you to flash temporary (fake) recovery because recovery is on the same partition with kernel. Thats why on S2 you must flash kernel with implemented cwm to have 'static' clockworkmod after reboot. Flashing only cwm is temporary until reboot.
S3 have separate space dedicated for recovery (kernel independent).

Maybe partition layout is similar.

You could try the zip in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-2-6-3-0-touch-recovery-t1943592/post50943534
Then you could just flash that using CWM. And yes it does affect things when you flash it as it changes your recovery from CWM to TWRP which is more touch screen based, easier to use as well as being a lot more powerful than a basic CWM. Having changed you may find TWRP doesn't find your previous backups. This is usually as both of those recoveries tend to save them in different places and it's just looking in the wrong place for the files. You can either change the settings to a CWM style restore or just run a new backup through TWRP and delete the old CWM one.

Guys, everytime I flash twrp using ODIN it goes down as a success. And it reboots the phone. But then I shut down the phone and reboot to recovery its once again the default Samsung Recovery. The phone is not rooted. How do I prevent the original recovery from overwriting the TWRP recovery?

Just use the TWRP Manager from the Play Store. Root the phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33305792&postcount=3 and install the manager.
@lurker316: forget TWRP-manager. The only extra step, you need, is a factory reset. So backup all your data before. To avoid reboot after flashing TWRP, either uncheck reboot in Odin or pull out battery after succeeded flash.

Need help Samsung galaxy y stuck on CWM 6.0.5.3

I was trying to root my galaxy y but after I flashed cwm 6.0.5.3, when I tried to flash the root package, it failed so when I tried to reboot but it says I'm missing root permission and boots back into cwm. What do I do?!

If you don't have a nandroid backup, then you will need to reflash the stock firmware via Odin and start over.
I didn't make a nandroid backup but it doesn't bother me much about losing data. I tried using Odin but I can't seem to understand how to use it.

There are a zillion guides around here, YouTube, etc on how it works. It's basically the same for almost any Samsung.
Download the appropriate firmware for your phone / carrier / region
Install drivers, if needed
Open Odin as Admin
Plug phone in Download Mode to PC
Odin should register phone as COM:XX where XX could be any numbers
Load the firmware in the PDA or AP slot, depending on which Odin version being used
After file is checked, hit Start
Wait patiently
Phone should reboot on it's own
If phone bootloops after successful flash, then reboot to the stock recovery and perform a factory data reset
