Got it.

If there is a C6802 (the purple one shown in OP) with 493 firmware already in existence and is on sale (and I am assuming this), why is there a delay of nearly 3 weeks before the updates roll out?
EDIT
Just read this//http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/08/22/new-xperia-z-ultra-firmware-certified-14-1-b-1-510/#more-16974
So even though the 493 firmware is available on released/releasing C6802 purple version and that it has XR, we need to wait till 14.1.B.1.510?

X-Reality on sept next update?

So far we can see our device only show up the BR2 and without the X-Reality. Or it already combine together? I search from the china blog and saw the massage, will be update for next month. It is true?
Anyone knew that please advise. Thanks.

Im 99.99% that X-Reality and Bravia Eng 2 are not the same thing. I remember reading that X-Reality was not ready for the release of the C6802 ver. but it will come eventually. There is no release day that i am aware of but i do know that it was "promised"
Yes. ETA is September. Read the official whitepaper for more

Minor Xperia Z Ultra firmware certified (14.1.B.1.532) Xperia Z Ultra_14.1.B.1.532

VIA Mobile Xperia
A small firmware update has been certified by the PTCRB for the Xperia Z Ultra (C6802, C6833 and C6806). The new build number 14.1.B.1.532 is a minor revision over the previous update (14.1.B.1.526), which recently started rolling out.
Interestingly, it is the first firmware to be certified for the C6843 model of the Xperia Z Ultra. This may suggest a release soon, although we are unsure exactly which region this SKU will be targeted to.

Sent from my C6802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The SOD only kicked for me on the last 2 firms if I disable the Backlight Optimizations.
I flashed back to the .475...Easy and without anything to loose on a locked bootloader with Flashtools.
Best solution so far until Sony finds out what is wrong...
I guess we all have different hardware manufacturers.
Because not everyone have sods.
If you guys will report SOD issues on sony web site they will take this problem more seriously.
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z-Ultra/bd-p/22069
Max reports more chance they will fix that fast.
Also after any software update you need to repair your phone with Sony Update Service. (That will help you "fully" clean your device. We all know what's happening when you installing new base on top of old. (Please remember dirty installation will result to many bags and old sod's even after latest update)
Stay tuned
Best Regards.
I just installed 532... from New Zealand and un-changed build.prop.
Never had the SOD and still don't have it. I like the different UI (opposed to my last firmware)
- Battery still the same
- Home screen transitions seem a little hesitant for me.. (anyone else?)
- Bluetooth 212 kb/s transfer speed... (used to cap at 202 kb/s on previous FW. Although that may just be coincidence)
- Nothing else noticeable here.

Judging by the version, it'll be bug fixes. However, just because a firmware has been certified, doesn't guarantee release.

Is it possible to turn unlocked Z Ultra (from Sony store) to Google Play Edition?

Is it possible to turn unlocked Z Ultra (bought from US Sony store) to Google Play Edition?
just flash a gpe rom
I mean replace Sony ROM with Google play edition rom and get OTA updates. It is possible for HTC one, so I was wondering if anyone ventured in this direction.
I'm more curious if you can revert to stock Sony rom after flashing GPe?
AFAIK GPe Z Ultra's cannot be flashed with stock roms?
A quick search will show that many users are both "converting" their ZU to GPe via flashing the GPe rom AND are returning to stock 4.3 afterwards (I've done it numerous times).

Im traveling at the moment and I can confirm with you all that the best model to buy us C6833. If you want to flash google play edition rom on to the device, that's on your risk due to the supported LTE bands current on the device with firmware. You may not have the supported LTE Bands after rooted yo Google Play Edition

- Thread topic: Is it possible to turn unlocked Z Ultra (from Sony store) to Google Play Edition?
- gprefix writes: "Is OTA updates from Google working? Or is OTA disabled. If OTA is disabled you have to flash every time you want updates right?"
He's talking about the only GPe ROM we've got: Bigxie's GPe ROM.
- I write: "Yes, OTAs are disabled, and yes you'll have to manually update, but i can't see a problem with that."
MEANING: You won't get OTA updates directly from Sony/Google when you're running GPe on an Xperia device.
Then you wrote:
"Are you sure about that. Just receive an OTA update.few days ago for my model c6833"
Well yes you did, but you're running the stock ROM, correct? And not a GPe ROM. I didn't know that since i'm not a psychic, so i asked if you're running the GPe ROM. You then proceed to make loud noises and act like i'm the stupid one.
SUMMARY: We are discussing the GPe ROM, and if we'll still receive GPe OTA UPDATES if we flash it. The answer is a big fat NO. Got it?

Wow, clearly I've in the past explain to someone or few people here about stock C6833 Unlocked device about flashing over to GPE and what will happen if it does come to that. There user will not receive any OTA from Sony , why because it part of the warranty and you will void it.
Look back when you have a change. No one here before or now was behaving loudly as you stated, you made a reply switch was quite loud itself. Well then again , I've been adding my opinions to this topic off and on but if people were reading then you will know that I dont have a GPE and have being warning Z Ultra owners what Sony has apply to the terms of purchasing model.C6833 factory unlocked Z Ultra.

Hi all! I am using the GPe ROM on my bootloader unlocked XZU C6833 without any issues but have not had any OTAs appear and I doubt unless the developers found a way to do it. It appears to be a complete conversion since my phone even appears as a C6806 under file manager but SONY Companion still recognises as XZU C6833 and does offer to update the stock ROM but who would when the GPe ROM already serves me perfectly. I hope further GPe ROM updates will be made available. Thanks to Devs for bringing this conversion to us. As my network recently switched on the LTE, I am able to use the LTE data bands too without any issues.

GOOD NEWS,
So apparently Sony is scheduling some testing on kit kat for the Xperia z link and pic for proof lol. HoHopefully this update release soon. meaning ultra is right behind it. Should be no difference in kit kat update really.
BAD NEWS,

Yeah, KK has been in the testing phase for some time now, but we don't know where in the process they are. I really wish Sony had an awesome site like HTC when it comes to updates. It doesn't say when it will get released, but it gives its users some hints (imaged bellow).
HTC also made an infographic about their update procedures, and i guess most Android OEMs have to go through all of this, so my guess is that Sony is pretty far down the list, and it's only a matter of days/week until we get KK.
Edit: Just remembered that Sony is unveiling some new stuff at MWC later today/tomorrow, and i guess we'll see the Sony "Sirius" (Z2) with Kit Kat, so again, we'll get it very soon.
Hope they release it with different ui so I will not feel bored with my bored phone?

There's a 12 minute long video of the Z2 out there which goes through pretty much everything, and there is a fair bit of change there. I can't remember everything, or anything at all, but do expect "tap to wake", new launcher(s), other new or changed UI elements, and let's not forget that KitKat runs much better than 4.3, since it's minimum requirement is down at 512MB RAM.
It's not the biggest OS update ever, but there are some nice little details there that makes it awesome.
Here's the 12 minute video I'm talking about. I know it's kind of weird to watch a video of a leaked device that has been publicly announced now, but it's a nice video for us to see what we can expect to see in our own KitKat build.

Ultra is to recieve KitKat treatment in April 2014, which us about 2 months more as I was hoping. http://www.gsmarena.com/carrier_sfr...e_plans_for_lg_g2_xperia_phones-news-7939.php
Hopefully this means only our french comrades have to hold on to JB that long and rest of us will get munchin on stock "KitKat bar" in march.

Yup, you're probably right. Doesn't O2 and T-Mobile do the same?

So wait I though Xperia z Ultra was already unlocked so we wouldn't have to wait on carrier for latest update. If SFR getting it April ,we might get it mid March into April. Wonder if SFR had some deal with Sony to have Xperia z ultra under there brand.....
Update: so apparently SFR( Which is a France mobile company)has there own version of the ultra so yes guys you are correct on putting there own touch on the kit kat update
So Yea we might start seeing the update roll out mid March into April.
link is just to show that they do have there own version of ultra.

I find this interesting cause I though this phone was straight factory unlocked for all.
But also this company just gave us the deadline of release for kit kat. Which is Kool.

Yeah, i believe SFR and some other carriers add their apps and **** to firmwares, but most of us around here have the unlocked international version (without carrier bloat), and i guess we'll get it a little earlier than the ones with carrier locked devices.
