Native Tether on Stock Rooted? - HTC Droid DNA

I see patches for other phone that enable the native tethering within the stock phone. I am Rooted with S-Off and TWRP but I just prefer the stability of the stock build. Only complaint is that I prefer the Android stock tethering instead of an App.
Anyone know of or able to help with that?

I've tried a few different ROMs on the DNA, and so far only some of them have the stock tethering enabled. I think that the "provisioning check" on the DNA is done differently than other phones I've had, as I could enable tethering by using a SQL editor and changing a single value to make the phone think tethering had been activated by Verizon.
That being said, I tried the same thing and couldn't find the correct value to change, and I don't wanna mess up my phone, so I've resorted to FoxFi when it's not enabled in the ROM. FoxFi is nice because it sets up a VPN to trick your phone into thinking it's just connecting to a VPS instead of tethering through Verizon's data plan. Works great for me!

If I can only get help with getting Open Garden to work or perhaps reconfigure the adhoc or wifi settings, I will be so glad. I am sort of kind of used to the gps issue and working from all the posts and things I can search for but the Open garden is critical cause I have a galaxy tab 10.1 and rely heavily on the ability to tether my phone to the tablet. It did work on CM 7 but this ROM Is NICE and I would just love to have this work on ICS Passion, please help , much appreciated

ICS Passion has a built-in mobile hotspot feature. You can access it at System Settings > Wireless & Networks (More...) > Tethering & portable hotspot

Is that feature free?
If you are looking for a 3rd party wifi tethering solution that requires root access to run, you can give Barnacle a try Here

I have barnacle and Open Garden and Wifi tether. I was able to only get wifi tether working versus the other two because the other two operate in adhoc mode and they (the other two) do not have the ability for an end user to change the phone profile. Even though I am using a Vibrant, I had to change the profile in "Wifi tether" to Samsung Nexus and the problems went away
Thanks for you input

Free Mobile Hotspot...Or not!

So I came across this:
http://droidbionicroot.com/droid-bi...i-tether-mobile-hotspot-on-your-droid-bionic/
Tried to do the same thing while running Scott's CleanROM GBE 1.7...the closest match is com.android.providers.settings (Settings Storage), which while it does contain settings.db, the file does not have a Settings entry. The closest I have come are lines in "secure" and "system"...there are multiple hotspot related items but nothing that seems as though it would have the same effect as the value edited in the tutorial.
Disclaimer: I am posting this in the interest of simple hacking, not necessarily bypassing a carrier's policy or business model. I am grandfathered in to unlimited data and I will, as long as I am able, exploit that fact on my LTE device, be it through "legitimate" means like Tether by ClockworkMod, Wireless Tether for Root Users (which I have as yet not been able to get to work properly), or by using some exploit in a Verizon-provided app. Anyone using any means to tether without paying for the service is solely responsible for any possible repercussions or consequences.
With that aside...anyone got any ideas?
Edit: I encourage whoever happens to come across this to try it on whatever ROM you're running. Post your results...maybe we'll come across something.
Just use WiFi Tether, it works the same and it's free.
I came from the Droid Bionic. When you use the Mobile Hotspot hack, the data you use from Mobile Hotspot app is recorded in a special category that is separate from your normal data.
Did I note that Wireless Tether isn't working properly? Perhaps it's because I'm on a Gingerbread ROM...I've read that Wireless Tether only works in infrastructure mode on ICS ROMs.

Works for me. Use the newest beta.
It works on GB with the latest beta. Works perfectly on ICS and all my devices pick up the signal no problem.
wifi tether does not work in infrastructure mode on gingerbread. The kernel only allows ad-hoc network with wifi tether. On the ICS roms it works in infrastructure.

I used to have a Bionic and used this hack successfully. However, I don't see this being possible on the Rezound. I believe the hack was possible because of the way Motorola designed their software. HTC is completely different.

[Q] WiFi tether on stock ICS ROM

Greetings from other sections of XDA...
Got a quick question... already searched and I believe I've found what I needed but would rather ask to be sure, since it's the lead developer's phone at work I'll be messing with... He's on stock ICS and want's to stay that way, except enable WiFi tethering... root is an option if it's needed...
So far I've found these solutions:
Root the phone, and load the Google tether app:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
FoxFi:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ch_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5mb3hmaSJd
He wants the software to stay EXACTLY as it is, but with tethering added, and doesn't mind root if it's required...
Any comments or suggestions?
I hve the Razr 912 and FoxFi works great without needing to be rooted.
I am using FoxFi as well and it is very reliable.

[Q] wireless tether issues?

I just got my new s4 yesterday and finally got it tired today.my biggest thing I want root so bad is to tether.I still have my unlimited data with no internet at my house.I have tried numerous apps that have worked for me before and nothing seems to be working on this phone now. Haven't done any thing besides root on build me7..any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I got bluetooth tethering working with no issues at all using the EasyTether app. That's on the Google Edition ROM, though.
Try treve's mod. I entered verizon with the limited data plan so I cant tell you if it works on the s4 but it worked on my old sprint note 2 and sprint is even tougher on wireless tether than verizon

Yeah I tried that one...they all start and say it started with errors and won't let me connect in any way.
I believe when it prompts you, you can hit home instead of backing out and it will work. Try foxfi. There are numerous threads about it, just search.
I used SQLite Editor I had edited before I updated and changed and entitlement check. Now I tether using the stock application. Works great and no problems here, starting to get the itch to flash roms again but, since the bootloader is locked that is not gonna happen.

How do you use the sq lite? Ive never done that..just heard about it.
so i finally got it to work..i found another thread talking about the latest beta version of wireless tether, which for me was 3.3. changed to native frmework and it still opens the mobile hotspot and runs from there. what i dont understand is that i cant change the SSID and secure the network. if anybody might have an idea that would be awesome..i dont like having an open network. thanks

Must be rooted. Then edit a couple lines. At this moment off the top of my head i cant think think which where modified. I also used sq lite to add wifi hotspot quick toggle for the pull down screen.
I have unlimited data and what worked for me was "paying" for the unlimited tether package. Seriously it works. Whenever the subscription check pops up my hotspot turns on no problem...

Hacked Sprint Hotspot No Internet Connection

I'm on the newest sense rom from Captain Throwback but this has been happening to me since I was back on MeanBean. I can turn my Hotpot on and I get no errors and I can connect with my laptop, tablet, and desktop. On each of these devices, they connect just fine, but there is no Internet Connection. I have tried absolutely everything, Changing security settings, changing SSID, changing password, changing advanced settings, and trying the hacks below.
I've even tried the fix here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2509613&page=2
I've even tried removing and adding all the build prop edits from MeanBean
This used to work no problem and I cannot pinpoint when it stopped working. I'm guessing it has something to do in my MSID settings or something on the cellular level. I don't think it is a hardware issue because I got WifiTether for root users to work.
Please any help would be awesome. I've literally tried everything
Please don't recommend me to use WIFI Tether. I'm not a fan of that app and my stock app should be working.
There is an updated hack recently posted in my thread - did you try that?
And technically, unless you have a tethering plan, it shouldn't be working, so you may want to think about that statement a bit.

I understand all that but I figured it you didn't have it on your plan, the error 69 would come up when trying to start it. I thought when is was hacked, Sprint wouldn't be able to see how your data was being used. On second hand, I do use a great deal of data so maybe I was flagged. Yes I did try the latest hotspot hack but I will flash again.
Ya nothing happened when I flashed the hotspot hack. This is just so weird. Any other suggestions would be awesome. I think this all started when I flashed the 3.17 firmware. I almost want to try flashing it again but I will have to unlock my bootloader again.
Ok so I've been doing a lot of testing and I've figured something out. When I drop the Network Mode to CDMA only, the hotspot works just fine. Does anybody else have problems with the hotspot when you are in LTE/CDMA mode with the stock app? I remember this being a problem way way back but I thought it was fixed or at least the app would only use CDMA data.
Yes. I had this same issue. Iptables isn't playing nice. I recommend JB Wifi Tether, it's been working flawlessly.

Have you found anything around the web to fix this? I can't call into Sprint and complain obviously.
What does the JB Wifi Tether app do? It seems to replace some things within the IPtables. Is there some way to create a script to do this automatically on a reboot so i can delete the app? Can I delete jtether once a run it once?
I personally want to try this script.
http://albertomilone.com/?p=581
I'll give it a shot and let you know.
This guy here also has something going. Basically I want to be able to select it from my quick setting and not have to open the app every time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/4-4-1-4-4-2-nexus-4-lte-lte-tethering-t2416822
So JB Wifi Tether works great. Just kinda suck you have to open an app to get tethering working. Anybody know of any scripts for the iptables that work at bootup?
