Bootloop after flashing SJB 6.0 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hey Guys,
yesterday I took my sisters Neo V to root it and flash Super Jelly Bean 6.0 after that. Getting root with Eroot 1.3.4 was very easy. After that I flashed CWM-Recovery with an App called x-Parts I downloaded from PlayStore. Before rebooting to recovery I did a backup of all her apps with Titanium Backup. In CWM itself I did a Nandroid Backup and after that wiped data and formatted system and cache manually. Then I flashed Super Jelly Bean 6.0 and Gapps package provided SJB's thread. When I tried to reboot the device it got a bootloop. I can see the Sony logo and after that the phone shuts down and boots again showing the Sony logo and again, and again, and again.
As I read in some posts here on XDA I downloaded flashtool and the newest firmware (4.1.B.0.587) from this link right after that. All I got was an error on flashtool, with no further description (look here). I also tried using PC Companion and SUS to repair the phone, but both do not even recognize it.
I really hope that you guys can help me with my problem. Thanks and sorry for bad English
Sanguinus

Hey, what you did is essentially wrong.
JB roms > unlocked bootloader. Therefore, you should flash first the required kernel of the rom ( usually provided in the zip of the rom ). Then, after a full wipe ( format data, cache, system... ) in CWM, you should install from there the ROM and Gapss that you've downloaded in your sd card of the phone.
I don't think that your phone is dead, you should try again flashing the ics stock in flashtool. Your pc may not recognize the drivers yet, happened to me in the past, and at the 3rd try it flashed again succesfully.
If it really doesn't work, try again and again with SUS in case that it's a drivers recognition problem.
Tell us how it goes

Hm, on my Desire S that's the way it goes :crying: Think, I have to read instructions more carefully
I tried flashing the ftf-File for about 100 times yesterday, and several times today, getting above error every time. When I connect the device in flashmode and tap devices->check drivers in flashtool, I get the output
Code:
26/019/2013 12:19:17 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
26/019/2013 12:19:20 - INFO - List of connected devices (Device Id) :

26/019/2013 12:19:20 - INFO - List of fastboot devices :

In my opinion it means that everything is OK with drivers, doesn't it?
Also tried using SUS some more times today, but it still stays at "Connecting your Phone" screen, although it is in flashmode already (flashtool output tells me).

Hi,
Super Jelly Bean is a CM10 ( JB ) based rom.To use a JB rom, you need JB kernel. To flash a JB kernel, you have to unlock bootloader.
If you got bootloop, flash latest firmware with Flashtool. To flash you need drivers. If you haven't installed drivers yet, your device can't be detected. It's in flashtool\drivers-> flash mode + fastboot mode + Xperia Neo V drivers. Its enough I think.
And if you want to use Super Jelly Bean 6.0 rom;
-First Root (After flashing, you have to root again.)
-Unlock bootloader (Unlock your bootloader.Testpoint recommended.)
-See installation instructions for SJB 6.0.If I remember correctly;
-Connect your phone in fastboot mode (Hold menu button and connect phone to pc via USB).Flash -> Fastboot -> Select kernel to flash -> Select JB kernel you want to flash ( Rename kernel boot.img ).Check format .img if you can't find file -> Flash JB kernel (Ex: Lupus (Flash JB..not ICS.) via fastboot.
-Get in to recovery mode. These kernels have full CWM.Press volume down few times when you see kernel logo.
-Wipe everything.Wipe data/Factory Reset.Format data, system and cache.Wipe dalvik cache and battery stats.
-Flash SJB 6.0.Your phone is Neo V.So no need patch.
-Flash gapps.
-If you kernel have modules (Like fusion), you need to flash modules too.Flash it.But few kernel modules built in (Like lupus).
-And it is done.
First boot may be longer , so just wait.Don't touch battery

My problem is, that I'm not able to flash the latest firmware with flashtool, because I get an error (see my first post).
As I posted some minutes ago, all drivers seem to be installed correctly, but when I try to install the drivers provided by flashtool I get some other error by Windows Device Manager which say that four drivers (three Sony Ericsson, one Google) could not be installed correctly. Don't know why

I solved your problem.Okay disconnect your phone and check;
enable "USB DEBUGGING" from Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Development
enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES" from Menu -> Settings -> Applications
set Connectivity mode to MSC from Menu -> Sony Ericsson -> Connectivity -> USB Connection Mode
I think you forget to enable USB Debugging :victory:
Hit thanks if I helped you.

I'm very happy that you're trying to help me, but please read my other posts as carefully as I have to read the instructions of how to flash Roms on other phones then my Desire S
I stuck in a bootloop, that's why I try to flash stock firmware. So there is no possibility to enable USB-Debugging. But I think adb is not need in flashmode anyway, is it?

But this is weird as I already installed all drivers in \Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers
Thanks so much for the help!.

Ok found the problem. Was missing this first step:
enable "USB DEBUGGING" from Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Development
enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES" from Menu -> Settings -> Applications
set Connectivity mode to MSC from Menu -> Sony Ericsson -> Connectivity -> USB Connection Mode
Added the other two steps so can be helpful for anyone else having issues, make sure all of above is set prior to trying this tool to root the phone.
Thanks so much for the help!

True :silly: . Hmm I can't understand.Two thing left.
1-)Can you tell me which drivers you installed?
2-)Do you have PC Companion installed? Or any other program use ADB.exe.Close PC Companion.Check ADB.exe.If it is working, close it.Then open flashtool.Try again.

I solved the goddamn problem :victory:
Just used my PC with Win 7 instead of my Win 8 Notebook. But don't know if the OS was the problem or the flashtool drivers I successfully installed on Win 7. Anyway, problem solved, next try flashing SJB

Possibly bricked Xperia Sola (help please)

I just flashed this through CWM in an unlocked-bootloader sola (as the thread suggested) and then after i pressed reboot from the CWM menu the phone stopped responding to anything!
screen, adb, fastboot, nothing working...
The only responses i can get from it are:
phone vibrates once when i press power+vol up
red led turns on when i plug in the usb cable
It won't even enter adb or fastboot, so i cant think of a way to fix this
Flash mode seems to appear working but when i try to flash anything through FlashTool it wont flash anything with an empty error message.

My friend sorry to say but you should read that post clearly before installing that rom this rom is for unlocked bootloader only.
May you have not checked bl status whether it is properly unlocked or not.
Or try to unlock bl again from flash tool and try to flash from again.

i was able to get in flash mode yesterday (even though the driver name was odd) but today i can't get it to work.
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.

[Q] Problem with flashtool (first time happening to me)

I always use flashtool and I never had any problems before. But today I installed flashtool on my newly formatted pc (Windows 7 x64) and I always install flashtool on it and it works perfectly. But today i wanted to flash something with fastboot mode. so i installed all of the required drivers and my pc recognized the phone and showed me its connected in fastboot mode and even my flashtool recognized it, but here is the catch.. whenever i press on the "Bolt" i con and select fastboot mode , when i press "Ok" it doesn't do nothing and it doesn't take me to fastboot mode at all. It just stays that way and nothing happens, I've tried the x32Bit flashtool and the x64Bit flashtool and still having the same problem..so what can i do ? did i forget anything or is there anything wrong ?
Please tell me what should i do to get into fastboot mode on the flashtool ?

[ROOT] Xperia SP root most resent firmware version 12.0.A.2.254 (Updated)

Hello i made this post so everyone can follow the instructions.
THIS GUIDE IS OUTDATED NOW .0.266 IS OUT WHICH MEANS THAT IF YOU FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL YOUR PHONE FIRMWARE WILL BE OUTDATED YOU CAN USE THIS METHOD FOR .0.266 BUT IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE IT WILL BE NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY
If you want to try to root your phone using this method ill leave a kernel link for .0.266 below in the download section
For a tested root method for 0.266 try my guide here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2656772
Doomlord gives some pretty clear instructions but a noob like my self some things does not make sence.
So i will post every step from the original thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933
And i will just add some details to every step.
So the steps to root your phone are.
1)Download the three files from the download section below (the 3 files in the original thread or in this thread i will put the same excact files)
2)open FlashTool and flash the XperiaSP_C530X_12.0.A.1.257_KernelOnly.ftf - 6.78 MB file, this is JUST the kernel of an older firmware which was rootable
2.1)open FlashTool and press the Lightning button
2.2)Select flashmode and then press ok
2.3)Select the kernel (ftf file) you want to flash .(for the first flasing as said above is the XperiaSP_C530X_12.0.A.1.257_KernelOnly.ftf file)
2.4)Unlpug and Power down the device
2.5)Wait 5 Seconds and the Plug it HOLDING the Volume Down button (this will put the device into flashmode)
2.6)When it says that the flashing is done unplug and power up the phone to make sure everything went as planned.
3)After the device booted up enable debugging mode (Settings->Developer Options -> Debugging Mode)
4)CLOSE FLASHTOOL <<< VVVIMP STEP
5)Extract the files from the DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip in the root directory (anywhere you want basically Doomlord suggested the C directory but any will work just fine)
!!! ATTENTION AS DOOMLORD REFFERED IN THE ORIGINAL TUTORIAL THIS STEP IS CRUCIAL BECAUSE THE PHONE WONT BE ROOTED WITH A PREVIOUS VERSION DOWNLOAD THE FILE FROM THIS DESCRIPTION OR THE ORIGINAL THREAD
6.0) FOR THIS STEPP your phone needs to be in Debugging Mode AND have Unknown Sources Checked (if not go to Settings->Security -> Unknown sources)
6.1) execute runme_ file corresponding to your OS on desktop PC, this will execute a SPECIAL version of my easy rooting toolkit <<< VVVIMP STEP
6.1a) If you run windows on your PC run the "runme_win.bat" file
6.1b) If you run Linux on your PC run the "runme_linux.sh" file
6.1c) If you run Macintoish (Mac) on your PC run the "runme_mac.sh" file
6.2) Just double click the file to excecute
6.3) A window will pop up.Follow the instructions to root your phone (your phone must be in debugging mode (as said above) AND have unknown sources checked (if not watch step 6.0)
6.4)When the phone is rooted it will restart
7) Check if your phone is rooted.
7.1)Open App Drawer and search for an App called SuperSU (it will be the latest version)
7.2)Open The App and check that everything is ok.If a window pops up saying that the Super SU binary was not found something in the root proccess went wrong)
8) Once you checked the root state of your device reopen FlashTool.
8.1)once in FlashTool press the Lightning button
8.2)Select flashmode and then press ok
8.3)Select the kernel (ftf file) you want to flash .(for the second flashing you will use the XperiaSP_C530X_12.0.A.2.254_KernelOnly.ftf file)
8.4)Unlpug and Power down the device
8.5)Wait 5 Seconds and the Plug it HOLDING the Volume Down button (this will put the device into flashmode)
8.6)When it says that the flashing is done unplug and power up the phone to make sure everything went as planned.
9) Once the phone boots enjoy your newly rooted phone
The 3 Files you need:

2.1)open FlashTool and press the Lightning button
2.2)Select flashmode and then press ok
2.3)Select the kernel (ftf file) you want to flash .(for the first flasing as said above is the XperiaSP_C530X_12.0.A.1.257_KernelOnly.ftf file)
2.4)Unlpug and Power down the device
2.5)Wait 5 Seconds and the Plug it HOLDING the Volume Down button (this will put the device into flashmode)

After the step 2.5, the device shows the green light (indicating the flashmode)
but in the Flashtool it says :
31/039/2013 18:39:55 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
31/039/2013 18:39:55 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.

Apparently, the device goes into flashmode but flashtool doesn't detect it in there maybe because of some missing drivers, and the device turns off again. (If I'm getting it right)
I then tried to install drivers via C:/Flashtool/drivers/Flashtool-drivers.exe >> Xperia Z and SO-02E drivers + Flashmode Drivers + Flashboot Drivers
Repeating the process, gives the same results as mentioned above.
Please help.

By Sellecting the Xperia Z you install the drivers for the Xperia Z NOT the SP.Shut your phone without opening flashtool then plug the cable while holding down the Volume Down button (so it boots in flashmode).
Your PC will install the Flashmode drivers
Then To be sure open flashtool click devices and then check drivers
It should show some items in the list
( I got this from mine
Code:
31/021/2013 17:21:08 - INFO - List of connected devices (Device Id) :

)
If you dont see anything a trick that i did and worked for me is that i go to Devices --> Manage --> Import --> Sony Xperia SP
If you dont get anything in "Import" you must go to Devices --> Manage --> Export --> Xperia SP --> Devices --> Manage --> Import --> Sony Xperia SP
I hope this will fix your driver problem.

2 u root it
3 u flash 245 to get up to date
Simple as that
Edit : also download the original files from this post.
Ps: when i did the procedure it showed that my firmware version after flashing was 257 anyway try to root it and then flash 245 it may be just a display bug

hello, sorry to interrupt but i guess this is a very noob question. i can't flash the kernel only (files provided by doomlord). after opening the flashtool, i select flashmode and after that, in selecting the firmware, there's no .257 kernel only, and flashtool doesn't recognize the files because its not in the ftf format because its in the .zip format. please help me on what to do, cause i'm not getting it. and can someone give me a clear instruction on how to flash the kernel only. thank you in advance.
edit: problem solved! just a little google will help

i just realize that the file extensions of each file is hidden that's why i cannot change it at all. for example, the file provided by doomlord, it is in the .zip format, if i don't delete the .zip extension, it will not change at all even though i put .ftf extension on the last part of the file. so what i did is i go to control panel > folder options > under the View tab, i uncheck the hide extensions for known file type. after that, you can remove the .zip extension and change it to .ftf. i just realized this after searching at google. i hope this can help other members out there who has experienced the same difficulty as me.

[HELP] [XSola] Can't get rooted

Hey, I have a problem
I just can't get my phone rooted. I did everything like in the instructions for .54 but it still won't install CWM or gives me Root access :/
Sometimes if I install root with restore after the reboot I get to the sim lock and it's broken. I mean like i can't type anything or i get a black screen with the SystemUI :/ But after flashing the MT27i_6.1.1.B.1.54_KERNEL.ftf then, everything works again except that it'S rooted ???
Could you help me please ? I have a Sola .54
Man, that's weird, I followed a video that makes you root the phone with the Bin4ry's restore method.
Did you hear about the pre-rooted ROM?

Can we have the link to rooting method you have followed?
First downgrade to the previous ics rom as .54 can't be rooted directly then use bin4ry's root with restore. Then your phone will be rooted.

"For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings" and i guarantee that i've set those two settings
what i'm doing wrong??

USB debugging isn't needed for flashing.
Have you installed the drivers, for the fone + flash and fasboot?
What windows version you have?
Open flashtool, don't flash anything, just connect the phone in flash mode and post the log here.

To enter flash mode first switch off your phone, then hold the vol- button while connecting it to your pc via usb you should be able to see a green light. What is the usb mode you are using? MTP or MSC? To check that go to settings/xperia/USB connectivity.

No this isn't flashmode, shutdown your phone, and connect to the USB cable while holding volumedown button.
Did you install the drivers after installing flashtool (glashmode and fastboot at the bottom of the list of drivers installer)?

[Help] Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) BOOTLOOP problem!

Some info:
- device is Sony Ericson Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i)
- phone has Locked Bootloader & Rooted 2.3.4 Stock ROM
- PC runs Windows 8.1 x64
Today I tried installing V6 Supercharger and apply many of its tweaks.
I'm not really sure if this tweak caused the problem, but one of the Supercharger options was to wipe the dalvik-cache, after which a reboot was required. I did this and since then my phone is stuck in a Bootloop!
When I press the power button the screen lights up, the Sony Ericsson logo appears and disappears as it should, but then the process repeats itself, until I remove the battery from the phone (no Sony animation is played). After this I tried using FlashTool to reflash a clean Stock ROM, but I CAN'T get the device into flashmode since it's bootlooping!
Flashtool's log keeps alternating between:
- Device connected with USB debugging off
- For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
- Device disconnected
and
- Device connected with USB debugging on
- Connected device : SonyEricson Xperia Mini Pro
- Installed version of busybox : BusyBox v1.21.1-Stericson (2013-09-26 14:33:26 BST) multi-call binary.
- Android version : 2.3.4 / kernel version : 2.6.32.9-perf / Build number : 4.0.2.A.0.62
- Checking root access
- Root Access Allowed
- Device disconnected
I DON'T have CWM Recovery installed (my device is not officially supported), BUT I installed x-Parts v7 and used the "Install CWM" button, which supposedly creates a recovery TAR into the system. The problem here is that when I selected "Install CWM" in x-Parts there wasn't any indication that it worked (or so I think) and the option "Reboot to Recovery" didn' t seem to enter a recovery menu after rebooting (it was like a normal reboot of the device).
So:
1) Is my device bricked beyond any repair?
2) Is there a way to force flash a new ROM into the device? (Are Flashtool's fastboot Mode or x-Parts' Recovery of any help here?)
3) What other options do i have (if any)?
I suppose Sony's service would repair my phone if nothing else works, am I right?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Try this

Try to use another USB port, or another Windows version. Windows 8.1 has problems with some developer drivers because Microsoft included a new security.( I tried Windows XP SP3, Windows 8 RTM and Windows 7 and all work very well).
1.Your device is in a continous bootloop.
2. Try to flash a kernel, (Note Windows 8.1 is not compatible with fasboot drivers) mount storage in recovery, and flash the ROM. To enter flashmode simply remove the battery, wait around 15 minutes and take it back, then try to connect in flashmode. It works for me when I was in the same problem.
3. If nothing works, you may to rewrite your S1 bootsect. For this, you may use Setool 2 service (paid) or S1Tool (Rarely works, but it´s free).
Have a nice day.
