[Q] Canadian Hybrid Modem - AT&T LG Optimus G

To us canadian users stuck on the JB modem's.... pretty much the only problem I have noticed by installing the hybrid modem made my morislee is that the autorotation is inverted...
I was wondering if there was a way to make some other xposed module or patch of sort to invert the inversion ....
Not having autofocus while taking a video really blows ...
So if anyone got ideas... do brainstorm please...

I would hit up @morrislee and ask what he needs from you to make your own hybrid variant, he cranked out the ones for us after the mako versions extremely fast, seems like a nice enough dude, and this way you wont need any wacky workarounds.

Ya I did message him... Unfortunately I believe he is busy

A hybrid modem will most likely not fix the rotation issues. The issue is with the dsps.* image files in the modem. They are the firmware that is sent to the Hexagon DSP processor, and they are signed, so they most likely cannot be modified. They control sensor function, which includes both rotation and camera autofocus. A userspace patch would be needed to fix autorotation if those firmware files are used.

Stuff like this keeps schooling me every day, brain starting to hurt
That being said, I setup an Ubuntu environment earlier today, from one of the guides in chef central, using 12.04 64bit, got all the packages, but i'm terrified to sync a potential 10 gigs of stuff, what exactly should i be syncing to on github for our device, and say for illusion rom to try building from source?
and as I side project today, I nearly got a zte x500 to take a custom rom and recovery from the stock recovery, after noticing ZTE signed their packages with the test keys, just needed to figure out the mmcblk for recovery for the cricket score <edit> I know the syntax that particular updater script needs now, but dont have access to the phone til monday. the person is getting a new phone anyway but it's my pet project to flash a custom rom and recovery from the stock recovery and good practice doing updater-scripts from scratch </edit>
Been a fun day.

Just checking, would it be possible for you to make an inversion patch for your hybrid modem?

Come at me bro!
j/k..
Seriously guys.. No fooling around!
Fenny maybe I missed it but do you have a thread to discuss this tw kernel. So far so good. I had already converted OmegaRom 5.1 with everything and was just waiting on a kernel. So far so good. I am gonna look through my notes on how/where to fix the home haptic feedback but other than that all 4 buttons seem to working perfectly. I have sent a pm to the des of OmegaRom to see if they wanted it ported (help porting it to our phones) but i have heard back from them so far. Will continue playing with it with your kernel and test it out. I have run the OmegaRom for about three days already and have had any issues so testing with your kernel is now upon me. Thanks for your work on this. Rich
Fixed: All keys and home haptic working now, though home haptic seems lighter than the other keys.

Until things are cleaned up better, there aren't going to be threads. There's enough to be done and enough things are still not working right that new threads aren't justified yet.

used to build the attached zImage. If you don't know what to do with a raw zImage, this isn't ready for you yet. Simple as that - there is a lot of things missing (like, don't set any profiles in SetCPU with reduced clock frequencies, bad things will happen) - I still haven't tested flashing zips in CWM. nandroid backup/restore seems to work but no guarantees.
You still need to disable Samsung Noise Reduction or use a hacked Phone.apk along with a hacked /system/usr/keylayout/sec_touchkey.kl (see Hellraiser on github) for it to work in a reasonable way. There's probably a large pile of **** still broken. Don't pester me with bug reports - there's a pile of stuff I KNOW I still need to address.
When I tried the attached patch yesterday, it made the screen wake problem significantly worse. Progress in the wrong direction is still progress, as it gives you an idea where to look. I'm going to investigate this further tonight.
It was an attempt to add the missing GPIO definitions that are in the Gingerbread source tree into the ICS kernel.
Entropy, not stating a fact and you KNOW a heck a lot more than I so take this with a grain of salt. I have been playing with lots of different files on a ported/converted i9100 ICS Rom (Omega Rom 5.1) and used these for the usr files and have seen the screen wake issue. http://db.tt/DUe4afdh Maybe it has nothing to do with these though. I have changed many other things like csc folder, csc other files, many other things also. Also I am using the kernel posted by Fenny if that matters or is much different than yours a I have tested it out yet. I only replied here because one of the files I removed was the gpio file completely as other files inside seemed to have the same configurations. Maybe I am WAY off base here. If you want to try the Rom i converted already to see if anything helps let me know and I will send a link to you. Thanks for all your hard work.

AT&T does not share its network with anyone - unless you're thinking of the MVNOs that use their network, which are almost exclusively using low-end prepaid devices.
The I777 is AT&T-unique - no other carrier uses it. Everyone else uses I9100 variants. (Except the Korean carriers, which have the M250S/K/L, and NTT DoCoMo, which has an I9100 variant branded as SC-02 I believe.)

I'll catch up on your PMs soon.
I think I've found the screen wake bug: I misread the #ifdefs in the Gingerbread kernel, and realized they unmap the HOME key GPIO.
There was no such unmapping in the ICS kernel - so the GPIO was left mapped to HOME but left floating, which explains both random wakes and spurious HOME presses. It's also why the patch I posted this morning caused guaranteed screen wakes on resume - GPX3(5) is the HOME GPIO and was set to pulldown by that patch - it's an active-low GPIO.
Attached is a test kernel zImage and two patches - if these solve screen wake for those experiencing it, I'll push the patches to github and probably release the first Daily Driver ICS tonight even though I still haven't fixed SetCPU hangs.
This kernel is for Touchwizz firmwares only - if it solves the problem for everyone I'll work with the CM9 maintainers on integrating the attached patches, which apply to the current state of my github repo.
Let me know when you get to test point. Shoot it over if you want.
I have started writing a new program that will enable you to do parcing of 2 total diff Kernals, full factory and custom ROMs., yank out APK's and cook me dinner. What It will prob be 2gig in size..will streamline it. But when done--- WE WILL RULE THE WORLD!.. yea ok.

capacitive buttons stopped working today :/

Out of nowhere, the bottom buttons stopped working today. I was on a Sense ROM (ICS Business) and I figured it was just software related. I tried 5 or 6 different ROMs, even went back to stock. Has anybody else had this issue before? If so, is it hardware or is there a way to get this working again?
For the interim, I just installed an AOKP Rom (Neo 1.5 Linaro) because it offers the software replacement navbar. Out of curiousity, does anybody know what other ROMs may offer the same software replacement?
I was going to look at Neo Rage (1.6 Linaro), but it's listed as AOSP and I'm not sure it offers them or not. I assume there are no Sense based ROMs that offer this?
Thanks!
-J
In any AOSP rom you can enable the soft keys. Some roms you have to manually edit XML files to get them though. In sense, you can't add them
Thanks. I'll poke around some other AOSP ROMs as well. I never really paid attention to them mainly cause I had no use for them heh. Now I really don't have much of a choice.

Did you run any of the mods to dim the lights? I know I run a mod that scripts this change and I wonder if that's sticking and not playing nice with the other roms. Do you have anything for dimming the lights in:

Ok, looks like I am not the only one, sorry to dig up this old thread, but my Capacitive Buttons stop working today.
I did not install any app, or made any changes and had been using the same (Niles Business 3.6) ROM since Jan.
I never have that dim Capacitive Buttons script.
I did not drop the phone recently either.
I am going to try INFECTION and see if it can tie me over until I get a new phone.
Oj, my guess here is something happened to the digitizer or digitizer ribbon cable. Have either of you had your phone disassembled anytime? If it's not the digitizer and software related, a hard reset or new ROM install should have fixed it no questions asked......
unless some other piece of hardware in this phone has taken a dump. .?
No, the phone had never been taken apart. The only thing that happens to the Rezound, was that I dropped in about 3 ft on asphalt, and it only had a few minor rash on the frame (the shiny part), and that happened many months before the capacitive buttons died.
I am added the info below to hopefully help others that have this issue.
Installed INFECTION, followed Neo's direction (below), and it has a usable phone again.

Here's a bit of info you may want on this project for how we do things differently:
CLICK HERE to find out more about the new team working on this project since our TeamEOS merger.
No features you don't need which slow the device down, or put your data at risk of being stolen. If you want to give it away, it should be your decision.
A fast and clean install with no UX decisions made for you. You make the ROM whatever you would like.
A team constantly exploring totally new feature sets and optimizations geared toward you, the user
We utilize a plethora of optimizations in a build system unlike any other:
Each build has a toolchain built for your device at the time of build. No more generic toolchain android builds.
Consistently updated upstream toolchain module source with our custom backports, fixes, and optimizations applied in a patch at build time.
Fully built utilizing Link Time Optimization (another custom ROM first). Feel free to google this one a bit to get an idea of the performance gain.
Many repositories have code fixes, cleanups, and many minor optimizations which are too generous to even speak of here.
Optimizations are toggled on and off based on device for the best experience we can acheive for your device without sacrificing any stability
Many Qcom optimizations and AOSP master (upstream) optimizations and fixes using device specifications to determine usage.
Fully built utilizing strict aliasing and isognu++11 mode.
Full "-O3" build. To those who don't know, this is the highest "optimization level" available in gcc that sets many other flags.

Ya we compile the project with twrp recovery. I'll confer with my associates about tweaking or killing device assert in release tools. Also, I gotta drop a global device build too. First aosp build with IR Blaster and this board gets hardly any traffic! I personally run the build on my m7tmo so any derp gets my attention. There's little minor issues here and there but nothing major. Bluetooth OBEX is derped project wide but should be fixed soon.

Enable [dynamic] cpu control

Hello all, I am looking for a way to enable all cores on the Honor 5x. If you use Kernel Adiutor (and I'm sure you do) you'll notice that 99% of the time (save for a reboot) your little cluster is offline when using any AOSP ROM, now the only way I've found to enable them is to edit the value in the active file located in /sys/module/cluster_plug directory. The issue with this method is that it just enables them, 95% of the workload is still handled by the big cluster, even when it's straining itself the little cluster fails to pick up any of the workload. I have done clean installs of the Blaze kernel and the issue is still not resolved. Any incite into this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You'll need to mess with:
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/core_ctl/min_cpus
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/core_ctl/max_cpus
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu4/core_ctl/min_cpus
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu4/core_ctl/max_cpus
It takes integer value ranging from 0-4. 0-4 meaning how many cores you want online per cluster.
The only issue is that I don't have /core_ctl directory that you've specified, I don't recall ever having it on this ROM, though I could be wrong. I'm using the krexus ROM in case I hadn't specified before.
I know, reading the stock ROM forums I got very excited to see the before mentioned information that was posted only to see that said (/core_ctl) directory was missing from any AOSP ROM I had used. This is the one thing that is holding me up from giving up my Windows phone as my business phone (the lag as a result of only being able to use 4 cores is intolerable in my line of work) even giving a link to what all these directory files mean would be very helpful. Thanks.
You could google what those directory means and that would give you that answer.

I can't recall if I mentioned it or not but I'm using the blaze kernel at the moment (as far as I know it's the only custom one available for this phone?) Also the CPU control I desire is available inside the stock KIWI ROM, just wish I knew of a way to "port" that hotplug to a AOSP ROM.... thinking SELinux policy is prohibiting me from achieving the CPU control I'm after, but not sure if it's the only thing at play when it comes to this issue.

It's been that story for many developers man. A great project paused because life hit hard again. I believe he'll come back to it soon.

Thanks.

I had thought of doing this, though I don't see any cm 12.1 links in the Honor 5x thread, just 13, (though I'm at work at the moment and have to be stealthy about my research...errgghh Damn kids and their Snapchat) and I have to admit I've kind of fallen in love with the Krexus ROM and am apprehensive to flash another. Just need that hotplug support (and OTA updates would be nice as well

Tweaked out j727perx stockish rom. More to come!

BIG UPDATE, POSSIBLE FINAL BUILD!!!
Code:
I shouldn't have to say it, but when you hit/swipe the install button,
everythings on you. This was made for a J727perx/POPLTESPR, using a boost
mobile phone for testing. If your phone isn't from the suppliers listed in this
post, or you're not using something labeled perx, or are unfamiliar with the
term popltespr, don't try to use it. I won't be crying for anyone. That said, this
should be about as stable a ROM as you get when dealing with ROMs.
The new
J727PVPU3ARC2_MULTI_CERT_LIBERATE_X7s
New Video demonstration below
I wasn't able to make the YouTube link embed, but I hid the video like a good dude.
The video is of the actual zip that I uploaded for the download, you will start with a blue/purpleish light theme, changeable/disable in the theme center. No need to worry, but I always keep an backup of my EFS on the card, just in case.
Zero bloat, fully intact/tweaked system, with no knox.
If you discover some earth shattering problem, let me know, if not, I don't have anymore plans on taking this further. I'm flashing my personal build as of this post, if you want anything faster...I don't even know where to point you. With the right launcher(see my video of my personal build), and system setup, its scary fast.
Enjoy

Multi_Cert
This ROM should be ready for multiple service providers. It covers Sprint, Boost Mobil, and Virgin Mobil customers, and has built in boot animations for all 3 stock to prove it, along with vendor options. This is what I made the original ROMs with, ARA1 and ARC2. Until I recently reset my PC, and got a bunk Boost AP. All should be as good as everything was in the past builds, before the .3/.4 gen.
Hope you guys enjoy.
Love and Peace, and all that junk.
If you want to make use of my project, then read my sig, I got you covered.
Just downloaded ty bro. I'll let you know how it works out. Heading home now.
Nice, hope you enjoy, I'm posting one more, and have a 4 that goes further that I could send you. All features are working, service should be stable down to the 4th build...eh, I'll post them both.

We have a gathering of our phones most active members here, lol. Glad you liked it, I was super proud of how these came out.
Updates in the OP. Not that it's that far away from this post.
Man it's phenominal. Flashed this morning, and it's kicking ass and taking names. I can really tell a difference on internet too. Thanks man.
Pc isn't picking up my phone with usb. Do you know what would be the cause? I know adb tether wasn't working already but I need to connect my phone so I can transfer music, pictures ect. I don't have micro/sd slot in pc or I'd just do that.
Also Xposed says it's incompatible and won't let me install. Says it's not compatible with processor ect. This one isn't a deal breaker, just wondering if something might be corrupt on my end somehow..
Turn off USB debugging when you want to use the usb with another device, should link instantly when you turn it off, and break when on. Not that it should, but does lol. I'm going to try something differen't with the xposed, if I make it work, I'll do my planned update with it fixed.
Was going to post an update with my android boot animation, and game over shutdown....could mix a few others, but didn't know if you guys were interested.
Peter had xposed working on our old firmware, so I had it working of course. On the new frimware, for whatever reason, it really hates anything starting with the letter X, I've been on this all day. My solution would be to completely pull xposed, keep the build quality/speed up, and offer custom qmp boot images out of the box. Let me know what you think, or, if you nail xposed, let know about that. I currently have the Android ULHD boot animation, swirling dots into flashing android, and pacman gameover shutdown on mine. I have a bit of a collection I could share, or you can find them on the forms I'm sure, but most don't flash right. Mine work lol. Let me know what you would like.
Probably have to pull xposed from the project, but I can at least add some flare to the roms. I was adding boot animations, and a built in EQ presets built for small speakers. Currently in testing.
Bootanimations are always nice
How about?

I could preinstall them, or I might be able to provide animations, and shutdown as seperate flashables, and let you guys do your own? I've been preping all of them for a go, just want to take a look at what I have. I don't have them in zips yet, but I don't thing it'll be too hard. So far I have Android_L_UHD(A/S), Amiga (A/S), Badman (S), PacMan game over(S), NexusBeam(A/S), Matrix(A/S), SamDisco(A), and a few others. There's a post on the forms with them, but they don't work on our phone in there current format.
I might find some videos, or make a little montage, or just get zips together.
In the meantime, I need to update 2.2, at the very least, and my op.
Looks like someone made a video on the thread, and also has the link there. If you flash them, it only affects the shundown, if anything.
UPDATE
Despite my best efforts, xposed did not work out. I pulled it, added more speed(everywhere), and a musicplayer/system FX EQ that work together, but don't like the phone speaker. It's a combination chosen after much testing, and with a decent pair of headphones, makes a very noticeable difference from preset, to bass, reverb, and virtualization. Like most additions, totally free, no adds, and worth adding.
2.2 is the only update, the rest will happen over the next few days, and all will be getting custom boot animations, along with the other mentioned changes.

Ok use this apk an the ZIP you are using an it will work !!!!!
https://mega.nz/#!TEcxmAgQ!bCkqQBVxahScyk_jdWDirL9eRPOmBna787td3pOQClc
On the install of you Rom the framework is in it is the apk you are using !!!
all download links down for full updating. I'll post when they're back. if it's not a link for X#.3, it wont work. really good stuff coming.
All ROMs have new working boot/shutdown animations, new speed tweaks for almost everything, tested music player/system EQ(not working with system speaker, great with headphones), and, of course thank you peter couniaz for informing me of the importance of the installer, and linking it.
2.3 is up, the rest are syncing, and will be up in the morning, when I get up again.
All ROMs updated to the latest versions. Idon't believe I have anything more for quality or speed, everything is close to perfect while keeping the ROM technically stock. Lineage is still faster, but not by much, for our phone at least, and this looks so much better. Anyway, everyone enjoy the updated ROM, let me know what you think, and if you find any problems.

I will check it out tonight, ty for your hard work. You and Peter are awesome for working on the J7Perx. Much appreciated
Finally a dev who knows his works?good work bruh...will try it today
I flashed the X2.3 rom. Nice work, but there are a couple problems. The first thing I noticed was that the Xposed framework was installed during rom installation. The app is removed, but the framework is still installed. The next problem that I ran into was that a secured lockscreen takes a really long time to unlock (approximately 10 seconds).

I'm uploading 2.3 with the proper installer, I don't know how 2.3 was the only one to not get it. All others are fine, probably because 2.3 was the first updated. I'm working on figuring out the lock screen issue. I've checked so much that I'm running out of ideas. I'll update the download in the op with the new link once it's synced. Which will be like 10 minutes lol. Sorry about the lock screen, it permeates through to my final build it seems.

I just installed the latest version of 2.3. This one had the framework and the installer. However I have no data because it is recognizing it as a Sprint device instead of a virgin mobile device.
now that's interesting. I'm going to make another 2.3, in like 30ish minutes, and pm you a link to see if its fixed, sorry. The rom backs up efs at least. Brb
