[ROM] [JEWEL] [AOSP] [4.3] [cfX-Toolchain 4.8.y+] codefireXperiment Official Nightly - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Introducing codefireXperiment for your device! This OP is going to stay slim and bloat free, just like codefireXperiment. No marketing buzzwords either. We take such confidence in the speed and performance of this distribution, we challenge you to find a faster and more stable one!
Warning: we only support anykernel methods of custom kernel installation.
Here's a bit of info you may want on this project for how we do things differently:
CLICK HERE to find out more about the new team working on this project since our TeamEOS merger.
No features you don't need which slow the device down, or put your data at risk of being stolen. If you want to give it away, it should be your decision.
A fast and clean install with no UX decisions made for you. You make the ROM whatever you would like.
A team constantly exploring totally new feature sets and optimizations geared toward you, the user
We utilize a plethora of optimizations in a build system unlike any other:
Each build has a toolchain built for your device at the time of build. No more generic toolchain android builds.
Consistently updated upstream toolchain module source with our custom backports, fixes, and optimizations applied in a patch at build time.
Fully built utilizing Link Time Optimization (another custom ROM first). Feel free to google this one a bit to get an idea of the performance gain.
Many repositories have code fixes, cleanups, and many minor optimizations which are too generous to even speak of here.
Optimizations are toggled on and off based on device for the best experience we can acheive for your device without sacrificing any stability
Many Qcom optimizations and AOSP master (upstream) optimizations and fixes using device specifications to determine usage.
Fully built utilizing strict aliasing and isognu++11 mode.
Full "-O3" build. To those who don't know, this is the highest "optimization level" available in gcc that sets many other flags.

Thanks to the CM team for all thier work on this family of devices, especiallly h8rift for his work on evita for all of us to enjoy.
Also thanks to my beta testers for experimenting with me.
DISCLAIMER: I will not be held responsible for any damages caused to your device by flashing this ROM. Your warranty is now void.
By proceeding you accept the risks involved with flashing ROMS. While I test everything on my own device, I cannot garauntee yours will not explode into kittens and rainbows.

KNOWN ISSUES:
ROOT ACCESS : On-going disscusion within the team but as of right now root is not available to userspace. Root currently works over adb only. Flash the superSU.zip and carry on if you need root access for apps like TiBu or root file explorers. Otherwise you really don't need it
BOOT ANIMATION : i'ts just full of struggle, it's an old animation made for smaller screens. It freezes and goes blank screen on first boot. Don't be alarmed, it'll be OK. New custom boot ani is being designed now by a fellow team member
BROWSER : Ocassional FC on embedded browser streaming video. You tube and links that open a video player are fine, just embedded video.
ROM is still under construction so i'm sure more will surface but this should be more than ready to be a daily driver.

mine too

Sounds sweet man. Another aosp ROM to check out.

Something like that...I've been building rootbox for a while now and if you've ever tried that ROM u know it has everything and the kitchen sink. This is totally opposite of that. Minimal, fast, and clean.

Changlog:
Bluetooth- fixes for 48hz audio & issues with some car connections
Fixes for some issues with games crashing in 4.3
Updated camera proprietaries/kernel code from sense 5 Evita leak.
synergy is on vacay for a week so it will be a few days before we get added to the nightly builds. In the mean time I'll try to kick a few out to hold us over.

They've got a set of stock aosp bootani's that were supposed to get added in last week as temp but I'll defiantly check it out. Are you sure it writes to the correct location. I'm not positive cfx uses the same structure as others for that.

It should... I had this made last year when Synerge was working on the previous CodeFireX project and there are multiple base options in the Aroma installer. I will check it out this evening when I check out your ROM and let you know.

I did just grab the ani from the installer and replace built in @ /system/media/ and wow! Very nice!!
Edit: ran installer, chose non-cm option and installer failed.
Edit2: ran it again, cm option and installer shows errors still but new bootani works on reboot.

Features? Its more of concept than anything. Most ROM came from CMs base or AOKP's base and modify/customize into something else. This ROM is based/kept current directly off of googles AOSP master branch. There are some things pulled from CM/aokp for hardware compatibility and what not but the soul of the ROM is strict AOSP. After that its tweaked and optimized to make it as smooth, fast, and efficient as possible.
Simply put this is closest thing to pure AOSP brought to other devices besides the Nexus line.
You won't find all the built in mods and custom colors and what not. This is clean simple fast AOSP. As vanilla as possible.

Hardware keys are set up exactly the way I like them right from the jump. And this is actually the most stable 4.3 ROM that has been on my phone. All the others just kept crashing.

[KERNEL]Silverneedle 1.0 (16-Aug-2011)

You didn't think I was going to hide away and leave everyone else to all the fun did you?
That's right, It's time for some more sense kernel lovin', only this time our platform has changed to the Evo 3D.
Now that HTC have been kind enough to get off their asses and release kernel sources (which I might add were partially incomplete, but thanks to toastcfh a buildable source tree was managed),
I bring to you a preview build of things to come from myself.
Current things of interest:
- CIFS
- TUN
- Overclock up to 1.7ghz (this will likely be expanded in future builds)
- JHash3
- The usual assortment of build tweaks that those familiar with my previous work have come to expect
- Base updated to 2.6.35.14
As always, all source code can be found at the github link in my signature.
Disclaimer:
You are responsible for taking on all risks inherent with the use of any custom kernel, overclocking, etc. Oh yes, and if this kernel should impregnate your daughter, also not my fault. ;D
Currently these are only tested against stock. Your mileage may vary on custom roms.
Downloads:
Flash these via a recovery.
I highly recommend (albeit I'm admittedly biased) using the Team Win Recovery Project recovery for the Evo 3D.
Silverneedle 1.0
Code:
Changelog:
Revision 1.0:
- Update base to 2.6.35.14
- Modifications to clock table to make clocks behave better
- Assorted tweaks
- Migrated to Anykernel for installation, this should prove to be more compatible with various roms
*Special thanks to cayniarb who saved me some time with some of his work done while I was on vacation, so I didn't have to reinvent the wheel.

FYI The only changes that need to be made for aosp are a few things for the touchscreen and to use the aosp WiFi module instead of htcs. Theres nothing that that should have prevented someone from booting aosp with the stock kernel... They just wouldn't have touch initially, which as a five minute fix. I also wouldn't use this kernel as the base for an aosp build since its highly modified and it will be difficult to separate kernel issues from ROM issues. I'll build a completely stock kernel with just the aosp changes later, if that's what's been holding everyone up.

From the changes I made, it looked to me as if it was completely stock with AOSP changes. Tiamat hasn't made this official so there is very few or no modifications. But man I wish I would of asked! This thing was a pain!

Where did you pull the source from? You said Tiamat so I assumed you used their 8x60 Tiamat source as the base.
http://git.tiamat-dev.com/8x60/htc-kernel-msm8x60/
If you used the vigor branch it looks like they haven't done anything at all to it yet so it may just be fine. But in that case I would remove Tiamat kang from the title since you didn't kang anything from them if you made all the changes yourself... Haha.
Edit, I see where you pulled from, it looks like they started a new branch:
http://git.tiamat-dev.com/8x60/tiamat-kernel
It may or may not work, it doesn't look like they've made too many changes to it but its using the ruby kernel as the base with vigor files added to it, I still say it would be best to use the kernel straight from htc with just the changes for AOSP added.

[ROM][ICS][5/6][4.0.4] Glitchy CM9 Kangs nightlies

Ok here's the scoop. These are not official CM9 nighties. Please consider Sbrissens' builds the official CM9 builds. This is his kernel and THSs device tree only modified to build directly from CM9 and not from THS. I am only building these to take some of his load off. Think of his builds as the stable builds and these for what they are Kanged nighties. Now that that's out of the way. I WILL NOT BE TRYING TO ADD THE FASCINATE TO CM9 SOURCE. That is a call that will be made by THS when they decide it is ready. Also remember that I'm building 4 different ROMs now if a nightly isn't out overnight bare with me.
Thanks to Sbrissen, JT1134, THS, Cyanogenmod, Sixstringsg, TKglitch, Efpophis, and bytemark for the server that is doing all the work for all the ROMs I'm building. Efpophis for his tweaks and fixes that we all love.
Bugs…. let me know and I will talk with Sbrissen about adding fixes as he is still the official CM9 maintainer.

yes, m4 is aokp which has mods and features and things... this will be pretty much the same as sbrissen's current THS 6.5, just a little newer if there have been changes in cm9 itself in the last couple of weeks.

I've been switching back and forth between NOS's GPE and a few different aosp Roms (running Vanir ATM). The customization of aosp Roms is awesome, but the performance and screen-on time just isn't up to par with sense based Roms so I go back and forth a lot. Too bad we can't have the best of both worlds, but GPE+xposed modules is about as close as it gets.

Carbon has been my daily driver until just recently as pio isn't actively developing it anymore. Hopefully he will come back to it when the time is right, but in the meantime I've been bouncing around all over between Sense and AOSP...flashed Viper 2.0 and ran it all day yesterday and it's pretty close to the customization I was used to with Carbon and PAC, and it was nice to have full speaker volume for a change. But right now I'm flashing crDroid and will probably spend a little time playing with Beanstalk today too.
When picking a ROM, my main concern is whether or not it will still be supported a week from now. With a lot of the AOSP roms for the DNA, it looks like each developer is building and supporting three or four roms, and in some cases stop building/supporting an older rom when they have three or four new ones to compile.
Because of this I stick to CM (or really any other rom with a full team behind it who releases regular builds).
I just switched back to AOSP from ViperDNA and had a good run with that.

None of the roms which i build has been abandoned. If they have been abandoned its due to the fact that their main team has stopped developing like jellybeer, uXylon etc.

Thanks for the tip. I've been using Carbon for months but the low speaker volume of CM-based roms started to bug me. Now I'm using GPE + xposed.

I'm on stock still, ya I know. Anyway, what is active display?

None of the roms which i build has been abandoned. If they have been abandoned its due to the fact that their main team has stopped developing like jellybeer, uXylon etc.

Oh I wasn't referring to anyone in particular! I've just had a bad history on other devices of independent devs losing interest over time. I'm actually on Gummy right now and thoroughly enjoying it. I just tend to stick to "official" roms since they get updated daily, lol.
Now I flashed the 4.3.1 [ROM][4.3.1][16-Oct]**crDroid AOSP**|CM10.2|HALO 2.0|SLIMPIE|APPBAR and it's simply the best I tried so far... Awesome battery life, and perfect customization options!

Do you elaborating on GPE + xposed...I love the carbon rom and would love to increase the volume and I am getting frustrated.
I know AOSP roms have bugs. But why is it that I cannot use my voip apps on my phone whenever I have anything AOSP on it?? Is there something I'm missing?? Like changing settings somewhere?? My main complain with AOSP are the constant crashes, and that it renders my voip apps useless. Also, in my experience battery life was poor in AOSP and most of the feature rich sense based roms. I'm currently running DNA-Super-Digital rom on my phone. It's not fancy but at least it is very stable and offers a good battery life. I wish there were more stable roms with good battery life like it.

Xposed frameworks basically lets you modify apk's on the fly as if the functionality was built into the ROM, I think that's the best way to explain it. Right now I'm using xposed framework with gravitybox (various mods similar to what you find in aosp Roms), xblast tools (same type of thing), xposed statusbar mods (self-explanatory), xposed app settings (per-app DPI/permissions), and xtheme engine (let's you use cm10 themes, although they have to be pre-modified to work with xtheme). Here is the thread for xposed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 installation instructions are in the thread, and all of the modules I mentioned are available through the app.

Jammiethemorris answered the question about xposed framework. Regarding the volume, xposed framework doesn't fix that. All CM-based roms have low speaker volume because the amplifier is not working correctly. So I switched to the GE rom which is Sense-based and therefore doesn't have the low volume problem. The GE rom looks very much like AOSP but doesn't have options to tweak it, hence the need for xposed framework which allows you to tweak he look and feel of the rom.

Nice ROM title! And its aosp based!
I like Roms with layers support. Will give it a try when I left the hospital, thanks.

Looks like it's just getting started...the OP is rather threadbare, and the links, as you've noted, resolve to OptiPop.
I assume things will be completed in short order.
Looking forward to this as well.

I'm all about Despair.. Can't wait to try it!
Here is the beta build. Don't freak out on the name, this was before we changed it. I will have my build up shortly
EDIT: We need to clean up our source a little bit, we will do that first and release a newer build later today.

Actually what's the difference between this and opti pop?
^was going to ask this myself
Not certain, but one would assume once it's uploaded and the original post is edited, those questions will be answered.

As you know, recently optipop has been buggy. This is basically a slimmed down ROM that will be more stable and I will have a bit more control over what goes into it.
The idea here is to optimize, retain stability and add only useful features, it seems optipop is now being filled with every feature that exists.

I'll give it a run when the new one is posted, it's always bugged me when features have been added to ROMs simply to have another feature. Often less truly is more. Bizarre how certain ROMs get so bloated and over worked that they become unstable, slow and unreliable yet has everything in the kitchen tossed in for good measure.

Agree, I look for only the basics....well basic for me.
-nav bar stuff
-volume button controls
-LED notifications
-layers
-dt2w
I either stay with Elemental or a stock kernel if it has volume controls.

Sorry for the delay guys, I am trying to clean up our source still, we have a few compiler issues going on currently so I am rebasing a couple repos tonight. For now use the previous build I linked.
Bumping to bump so I don't have to scroll.... ?
