Hi all
New to the forum and new to Android! Just changed from iPad to a Kindle Fire HD. I've been trying to get the Holo Launcher to install on it. I managed to do the root thing following the instruction on this site but I get the impression its not needed to install Holo. I downloaded a couple of versions of Holo Launcher from the Google app store, I downloaded Holo HD, the app is on the device but if I try to launch it it says it cant open, Its in the folder with the rest of the apps. As I said I'm a complete newbie to Android, I searched the site but cant find anything really relevant to this subject. Can anyone help?

hey sorry im new here, I just successfully rooted my x10. However, during the end when i used cleanup.cmd to remove some apps I by mistake removed the stock Launcher app. I have adw and timescape but id rather have the stock one to play with first.
Does anyone know how to reinstall the stock Launcher app? pls help!

I recently Rooted my X10a and put "X10a_2_0_2_A_0_24_GLOBAL" on my phone.
I am extremely new to this and learning as I go.
I would like to take lots of apps off the phone that came with this OS version but I am struggling with trying to figure out how to do so. When I go into "manage applications" the applications that came with this pack I cannot uninstall.

I have been searching threads and other forums but not having much success with figuring out how to do these things with all the different phones and OS's.

EDIT: I solved this by installing ROOT EXPLORER from the app store. it was about 4$ but I could delete any of my files and set the values to R/W instead of R/O. Awesome app, just watch what you uninstall.

if you want to download free games, just look for the game's "apk" file in google, download, go to settings, tick "unknown source" (either in security or applications), and install the apk file.. don't need to root, especially if you are unsure about it.. it also works for apps (e.g. Google maps apk download)
usually, a google query will look something like "angry birds seasons apk download"..
and don't think that custom rom will allow you to download free games.. it will not.. because you can sideload it using the method i described above to get free games/apps, though it is most of the times illegal to do so..

as for "looks", you can always install launchers..
here are some launchers that you can find in Google Play (most of them free to download)
- Go Launcher EX
- ADW
- Apex
- Nova
- FTL
- LauncherEx
- Holo
and there are still many more.. Go to Google Play and search for "launcher".. There are many skins and themes to choose from, making the combinations practically endless.. without even rooting your phone..
When you search online and such, always make sure you are referring to guides for the right model!
Remember. Yours is GT N7000; the International model.

hey guys, i tired installing the google now launcher but on s3 it says " Placeholder text: google search not found" i have also installed the google search. anybody have any ideas?
I have used the apk from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jx0ya50t6pwd6kz/com.google.android.launcher-0.10.1.920880.apk before the latest Google Search update. After it updated, got back on the home screen and got this: http://boygeniusreport.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/google-now-launcher-1.jpg?w=625 So it updated. I saw on other site another method. Let me know if this does not work !

Hi guys,
I deleted my basic android internet browser 1.5.28 because after the root installing the custom rom of echoe(s5 theme) it didn't played videos no more like on dailymotion. I want to install it back but i just can't. Here and there i found the apk but after the install none works. Now i installed opera but i want the basic one back. Can someone help me? I have a rooted S4 GT-I9505.
