[Q] Reguarding Updates - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I was wondering how Carrier and Country affect getting updates? I have a Z Ultra 6802 (HK - came with Chinese apps) and haven't seen the 501 update on my phone yet and I really don't want to unlock the bootloader.
So I guess my ultimate question is: Will I get the update in the US while on AT&T? (I'm ok waiting, just want to know)
Thanks,
toonhead

Eventually. Or you can do what I did and flash a generic 510. Then use PC companion to repair if it doesn't work properly. When repaired, a new version of 510 is installed by Sony that works.

Does this require unlocking the bootloader or root? I don't want to so that quite yet...

Look at the opening posts for both these threads. The first shows you how to flash the firmware that will need repair and the second will show you how to repair.

[Q] xperia u cant update to ICS after getting phone fixed

Hi,
i had an issue with the touchscreen of my xperia u, so i gave it in to be fixed. When i got it back, they had replaced my ICS with a gingerbread rom. Weirdly, there were some french bloatware apps on the phone, which werent there before, even when i had gingerbread. After getting the phone i tried to update back to ICS, but both pc companion and sony update says, i have the latest software. It's ridiculous becuase i was apble to update the same phone to ICS 6 months ago. I'm running out of options, i dont want to root my phone, so has anyone got any ideas.
i looked everywhere but i couldnt find someone who was experiencing quite the same problem. I live in SRI LANKA. is the issue with the french rom. Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] Rooting Question.

Is it possible to root the ultra without unlocking the bootloader? I'm not familiar with Sony, I haven't used a Sony phone since Xperia play. Or do I need to do the unlock method first?
Thanks in advance.

Read my friend read. There are multiple threads with the instructions on getting root with a locked bootloader. but life is so much easier with it unlocked.
[NUT]'s posts are a good place to start, and the guides at the top od this section

I'll come over to your house and we'll get it rooted. Just joking and I must say there is a lot of outdated info even in the stickies. It took me a lot longer than it should to figure out what was currently correct.

[Q] pretty amateur question

Forgive me if this is stupid, its the only solution I have been able to come up with to my original issue (here if anyone has a better solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798335)
Because I cant access my recovery I need to flash a stock firmware to basically wipe the slate and start again. The only issue I have is that the only ftf file I can find for the UK is unbranded whilst my phone is locked on EE, if I was to flash the unbranded file will it play nicely or are things going to go from bad to worse? I would guess that it probably wouldn't work, but it there's no harm in checking.
so nobody knows the answer to this?

It should work but I think the SIM won't work. Then again, I don't know anything about locked carriers (Never had one).
If your bootloader is unlocked, try the EMMA service by Sony. It finds your phone's stock firmware if you're on a custom ROM with unlocked bootloader.

Try the Sony Update Service.
It should automatically find the latest firmware for your device and flash it.

Can I get stock Marshmallow on Moto E UK?

As title really, can't really find a definitive answer.
It was a UK Tesco handset but unlocked to all, and still running the standard Moto stock firmware.
Any help would be appreciated.
