Yes we got the h update, but don't waste your time, nothing special about it. The u-boot still recognizes an unlocked device, so that's good.

any good changes in 20H better battery etc?

What's this h about? I'm not going to flash until I get the ota. That reminds me. I have a flashable zip for system apps that I need to run and voidoo ota to keep root. Also delete custom recovery. . Undo my overclocking. . Under volting. .Damn, is this thing worth it?!

20H that's what I meant by h, in my opinion it's not worth it. I was on it for a little while, not long enough to do any testing.

I'm curious about it since the f update was mostly all bootloader related.

Yes, it will fail (if artas182x locked Bootloader cwm) you will need to remove it properly.
And you will get a boot loop with a custom recovery you will need to flash the stock the stock recovery first.

Yes, that is all that I do as well. I have had this phone since v10e and with every update I never did reflash any recovery but it's better to be safe than sorry. Also, don't forget to put all of the apps back that you may have deleted. And get rid of link2sd (unlink before you uninstall the program). And get rid of busybox. . .look it's just better if you flash a new ROM. Oh yeah and download and install voodoo rootkeeper then hit the save root button at the bottom before you do the OTA. Good luck everyone!

Has anyone actually got the update or manually did the ota and have gotten v20h?

Well I have checked my version for my phone personally and it has changed from V20F to V20H but I still have not received the OTA. I'm not going to force it I'm going to see if they are testing and I actually just got lucky with being at the right place, right time type of thing.

Yeah, I'm pretty confused myself about it. I have seen some complaints about 20f with the random rebooting issue and whatnot but nothing big. From what Kuma said it's nothing big at all. He said he was on it for a bit but not long enough to test it. So I"m assuming its still 4.1.2 but can't confirm just yet. I don't want to flash the ROM just yet but if I get bored tonight then I just might do so. . .

Whatever it is, t-mobile has the optimus l9 now listed as having 4.2.

but the good news is that it can be rooted with the lgpwn method. So let's recount here. I found this earlier this afternoon on my web cruise. I decided to download it and share with you guys. Now I installed the update and it's still 4.1.2. If it is true that T-Mobile is going to upgrade to 4.2 then this ROM is probably just a test until they are ready to give the OTA. So for whatever reason we just happened onto it. Don't fret my friends. . .once you get the OTA then we will know for sure. Hope is a good thing. Good night XDA.

I believe T-Mobile made an error. They have had it posted for like at least a month on their website that the L9 has 4.2, and nobody has confirmed getting 4.2. At one point, the listing even said the T-Mobile L9 had NFC as well as 4.2.

It still says that actually. Checked it today.

Yeah i tried it, works fine. The version I tried wasn't scaled for the DNA screen but the regular CWR wasn't at that point either. Regular CWM is now scaled correctly, not sure about touch version.

Need help with update after unlocking the bootloader.

I have rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader. I am on 4.1.1. I am trying to update but eveytime it takes me to custom recovery.
Can anyone clarify, where to find the downloaded update file? I would like to just flash it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Once you are rooted and unlocked you do not want to ever take an OTA update. If you manage to take the VRALL4 update you will lose root and re-lock your bootloader. For now Adam Outler and his crew were able to adapt to this update but there is no guarantee that will happen with the next update. Below is a link that has the verizon modems if you want to manually flash the VRALL4 modem.

Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
The only way to get 4.1.2 on a verizon phone is to flash a ROM based on that version (Verizon hasn't done an official update to 4.1.2). I would suggest reading up on the 4.1.2 ROM threads and you can google the 4.1.2 changelog to see what changed. The update is pretty minor in my opinion but there are definitely people who will disagree and are on the new builds.

What baseband are you on? If you are on VRALJB then the update is for VRALL4 and you definitely do not want to take it as it is going to reload your bootloader and you are going to have to unlock again. As for what the VRALL4 update contains apart from the relocked bootloader, it was a very minor update to the radio. I didn't notice anything different but you can google the changelog for the specifics. It did not contain an update to 4.1.2. The link I provided above will get you to the VRALL4 radio if you want to flash it.

Thinking about bootloader unlocking

I found that post on 4pda (Russian forum about mobile devices). Payback uploaded there hacked x-loader and u-boot. But it isn't work.
Month later after payback's post Ricardo Cerqueira found way to unlock their smartphones (link). It works, but not at all. Many people (especially with T-Mobiled L9, if my memory serves me) can't do it.
So, I thought: how about getting x-loader, u-boot and other loaders from unlocked device? Is this possible and usable?
Glad to see people actually attacking this. Sadly, I don't know. I mod, but I don't develop/crack on my own. @Lelus should look into this if he hadn't already.
I read somewhere that LG made it near impossible on most Optimus phones. You need not only unlockable firmware, but also the correct driver to enter the bootloader, wait from 30 minutes to an hour, sacrifice a goat, get the whisker of a tiger....lol. :sly:

@thasilenthacker...are you tmobile branded p769? I'm confused whether to call it p769 BK if someone could straighten that out for me. And if anyone has anything I can do to contribute to a concise and orderly bootloader unlock method I'm willing to sacrifice my tmob p769. Where are we at exactly, besides a dead end, I mean what are some/the reasons why we are unable to do what we want to do.

but i think a key detail was that it came with v10b and i restored a v10d backup and on the kdz flasher it still showed my bin was 10b so i think a key point in flashing is still to have the original firmware on the phone without flashing a new one accept for the v20b kdz then it should work.

Hmmm. Good advice! So I may need to flash my phone with the ROM that it came with originally? But mine came with Jelly Bean.....and the tutorial says that it must have ICS first installed for it to work.
Is there a way to switch the bin I have with an ICS one? This is such a hot mess...lol.
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i have no idea how it works really but for lgms769 v10b is 4.1.2 so its jellybean, you can make a nandroidbackup with recovery and then flash back the original firmware then root and install cwm and restore that latest firmware and when you go to flash the 20b kdz it should say android bin version:v10b in example for me it did, on the console of the lg flash tool.
you can try its worth a shot but that was the 2nd time i tried the v20b kdz flash cause like you might know from villans thread thanks to his villan pack crap i permanetely damaged my old phone so this was the replacement same exact phone but it unlocked so i was happy and i say kudos to villan.co
So you had 4.1.2 then flashed to euro 20b? If that's the case, then it's not necessary to flash ICS. OMG.....:banghead:
We need a new tutorial? Maybe?

To change init.lge.early.rc(is part of the ram-disk)...must disassemble boot.img in the kitchen

Samsung and Verizon are intentionally screwing over Dev owners and Development in general, this needs to get out to the public!

I know Samsung is ridiculous.

I'm already on mj7 with the retail s4 on safestrap. Isn't that what you're talking about?

This is directed toward dev owners but its important retail owners are aware because currently there is no backup of the OYUEMJ7 modem, who knows how well it might've worked?

So where are these build for us Dev owners? What can we do? Or with the script you are waiting for someone to come forth with them?

Ive talked to some other devs, im pretty sure that I can maje you an odin tar for mj7 using the dev mj7 kernel, not sure if a mk2 tar would completely work or not

Cool am on the original Dev build. But I don't want to lock the boot loader like I did the first time around but luckily then was still in return window which is not the case 5 months later.

No one said anything about updating the bootloaders just the kernel (to a newer kernel, plus its 4.3) , system and cache. Wouldnt touch aboot, sbls, or recovey

This would help to run safestrap on the device for mj7 and mk2.

Wait...why not?? What do you mean there's no backup of the MJ7 modem? Do I need to come create a signed modem ODIN package for you guys?

Both the MJ7 and MK2 modems from the Consumer Edition have been posted. The Developer Edition has never seen its Images come up anywhere.
My 2 cents.

Yea, I read too quickly. There's no OTA for this MJ7 build. It seems to be shipping on new DE's. Come on, Samsung! Get with the damn program here. At least with an OTA I can make the signed modems and recovery. Although, what's the point of recovery if there's no OTA?!?! The DE's really got screwed here.

It's all part of the plan guys, Verizon is trying to get rid of developers and Samsung has become their lap dog. Lack of support for dev devices will eventually drive people like us to other carriers and brands. So Samsung will get what's coming to them in the end if they keep going down this road. Motorola learned the hard way and they did a 180 because they realized they NEED devs. Who does samsung think recommends their devices? People like us lol.
This came with the new S4 Verizon DE I ordered last week from Samsung and I provided the details to Surge. Unfortunately I had stupidly already tried to flash the OYUAMDK .tar originally compiled by him, and it overwrote the baseband version shown in that screenshot originally to I545OYUAMDK from the original I545OYUEMJ7 that it came with. This attempt, while succeeding for the baseband version, did not actually update other details of the phone to OYUAMDK, so it appears as of right now from what I know, it isn't possible to downgrade even a developer edition phones firmware from 4.3 OYUEMJ7 to 4.2 OYUAMDK...
The device came with 4.3 / Knox installed, as well as the flags seen on consumer versions when you do actually get into Download/Odin mode with KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 flagging now too after I originally flashed CWM via Odin.
Was unable to install any AOSP ROMs on it too, which was interesting and something I know Surge is looking into after I provided the remainder of the OYUAEMJ7 files with his script listed on post #1. This was even with trying to install a new kernel (tried KT) after flashing, and additionally trying to flash the original dev_modules.zip that is listed in that 60-70 page thread for all things related to the S4 Dev edition.
Because of that, I've since initiated a return to Samsung, as I thought with the DE I would have no issues getting an AOSP ROM installed and running with the unlocked bootloader. As that is now shown to not be the case, at least as of right now, I'm just sticking with the consumer Verizon S4 for right now. Am contemplating returning that too as I'm still within my 14 day return window and going with something easier to work with like the HTC One or LG G2.

Report says NC3 is now rootable!

Few people confirming root access with new towelroot method from S5.

Anyone successfully install safestrap after using Towelroot? I tried 3.72. It states it installs successfully...but I can't boot into recovery. :/

Do you still have root? I believe safe strap also needs busy box.

You're correct.
I myself just used towel root ..successfully.
Can someone explain why this is important we already have root. Other than making it easier to root without a custom kernel what have we gained? Sorry I want to be excited like everyone us. Please be kind

People that took the Official OTA , had lost root. So this huge for a number of people. [emoji106]

I was stuck on NC4 and had lost root. It's good to get it back so I can do things again like Tasker, Titanium Backup and Ad-away. Not show stoppers but definitely conveniences I had missed a lot.

And yes, I can confirm that Towelroot worked successfully for a Note 3 running stock NC4 firmware and ROM. Easiest root ever.

I can't believe how easy and fast it was. I lost root yesterday when I soft bricked my phone. That silly Chinese root crap had popped up a bunch of unreadable prompts and in haste I accepted the official NC4 ota when I went back to MJE.
Well worth the donation once I get to a computer. So freaking easy I did not need a computer.

Removing all the bull**** bloatware, customizing your phone both aesthetically and functionally, using stuff like Xposed, custom roms built for speed/lean-ness, etc
The list goes on.
so i was stupid and isstalled clockwork after doing towel since i thought out bootloader was unlocked and now i have the bring to verizion store thing. so im downloading the ota for odin and im going to flash it, my question is once i do it can i then install towel, busybox, then safestrap and be okay?

I could be wrong but according to Hash instructions if the rom doesn't have busy box it says to install busy box so if it's a stock rom you'd need to install busy box then safestrap.
