[GUIDE][ROOT]Tablet Launcher on Kindle Fire HD - 7" Kindle Fire HD Themes and Apps

Do you have a rooted KFHD and want the stock tablet launcher? Follow this guide.
Download Apex Launcher from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en
Download /system/app mover from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover&hl=en
Make sure you have full root access and busybox.
Then open the app and move Apex Launcher to system app.
After prompted reboot, do NOT select set as default until you are 100% sure it works or you could be stuck in a loop.
Select Apex without checking the default box.
Go to menu by double tapping on the homescreen.
Select Apex Settings. Then select Homescreen.
Scroll down to UI and check the "tablet UI" box.
Now press home.
You can also use ICS Statusbar app from the play store for an added stock ICS effect.
Thanks for reading!!
If this helped you out, please see if you can help me out with a bit of MB525 rom installations.
I need a rom for the Moto MB525 that is JB and is stable for everyday use. Right now I am running ICS 4.0.4 Super Stable and I would like to go to JB. Thanks

This isn't the tablet launcher... just a guide on how to install apex... which runs as a phablet

Well, it's for all those people who don't want to flash a rom, and yet get a tablet-like experience and not a phone launcher styled one.
Thanks for reading though!

Nah, the dock has been removed, and the app drawer has been moved to the top right like tablets. It's the best you can get to without flashing a custom rom.. Just asking but do you know any other way to achieve tablet UI w/o flashing? Thanks

Just did a factory reset, and I don't seem to be able to write to the system.
The /system/app mover tells me that it's full.

Dunno, must be a system glitch or something. Get root browser, place apex launcher apk in /system/app/ and reboot

7.4.9 update shrunk the /system partition to only make room for amazon apps, if that is the firmware version you are on, you can't.

Oh crap, never mind then. I'll write a tutorial about installing kitkat on this thing.

it is possible to take it out if you have root but you would advise against it if you do not know what you are doing
also if you do make sure you have another launcher installed first

I have uploaded the Dell Venue stage apk here @ multiupload.com. In your browser go to multiupload.com/(below suffix goes here) to get the file:

One thing to note is: It looks like all the independent stage widgets are their own individual apk's. Hope this helps enjoy.

I have Stage Ui 1.6 any 1 know how to install it.... I was not able to find it... can u link me please..... The file is in .zip format...
I just got rid of all the bloatware last night, I am using ADW launcher, and my venue has never been so fast, even with live wallpaper running. I was not very happy with the venue up until this point. Now just need custom roms......
In order to develop custom roms there must be at least one source... I am sure that we will get custom roms after an update from Dell...

[Request] Gingerbread launcher with seven home screens

I'm running the latest CM7 nightly on my Droid Incredible. I have the paid versions of both ADW and Launcher Pro, but at the end of the day I always go back to the stock Gingerbread launcher. It's fast, minimal, and it just works. My only complaint is that that launcher2 only has five home screens, and I would like seven. A Google search brought me to a launcher2 mod over on XDA that has seven home screens, but whenever I press the phone shortcut I get a message telling me that "this application is not installed on your phone" (the mod is from the Samsung Epic 4G, I believe it's looking for the Touchwiz dialer and not the stock Gingerbread dialer). Would it be possible to mod the stock Gingerbread launcher to have seven screens and a working phone shortcut?

Did you try to push the file using root explorer or just install the apk the normal way... the instructions say to push it via root explorer.

I've been using my new launcher since yesterday and it's great, though I've found one small problem. starts, like when I power my phone back on in the morning, the widgets on the two home screens on the far right disappear. Again, this is a small problem and other then than that the launcher works perfectly.

Oops meant to press quote, but you could try using the stock HC launcher. I like that the best out of all the ones I've tried
I basically have 3 issues with it #1 wasted screen real estate, #2 no folder support, and and #3, can't delete unused home screens

I think he meant the stock honeycomb launcher, not the stock htc launcher. The stock honeycomb launcher does not have wasted space, the other two I'm not sure about.
Ah yeah I saw a "t" in there that wasn't there lol. Yeah I saw the team syndicate one and I tried it out, only problem is it was kinda designed for gb and froyo so it has a virtual notification bar that can't be disabled... However that was the free version it might be able to be disabled on the paid I dunno. Anywhere on XDA I could just grab the apk for the actual stock launcher and install it?

Yeah I might eventually go custom rom, I've had plenty of experience with my captivate , but for now I think I'm just going to stay stock for the time being with the flyer, so if you want to link it thats cool. Thanks!

GO Launcher EX is good. Has lots of features that most Launchers don't
But I always miss the glorious sense widgets that you cannot get any where else.
Honestly I've warmed up to the sense launcher a bit. Its basic and bare but the cool animations and awesome sense widgets make it worth using. As far as real estate, Go launcher HD had the issue too, just seems to be a honeycomb thing so whatever really. Think I'll just stick with Sense for now!
yea go launcher HD (beta) is a nice alternative to the stock or htc launchers for sure. just started using it today and really like the folder support
it's not on the market u'll have to search around for it
Yeah I found it from a google search, had a download link, and thats how I got it
Yeah I tried Go Launcher HD and it certainly a beta. Need lots of work.

Rom Challenge

Does anyone know of an rooted S2 ROM that is pretty much stock Samsung ICS 4.03 that gives me 5 horizontal icons on home screen and 5 x 5 in the apps drawer.
Alternatively any way to achieve this this with an existing rooted ROM?
Don't want to do it through an alternative launcher as I am happy with TW.
Thanks in advance.

TW wont do that out of the box.
Look into TW 4.5 - not sure if it'll work on ICS, but I used it on GB and it allowed you to change the grid size IIRC.
Oh and it's a launcher thing, not a ROM thing.
Otherwise, find other launcher i guess...
Use apex launcher
On home screen touch the menu key
Go apex settings > home screen settings > portrait grid
Change to 5x5 or whatever u want

Thanks for that I have TW4.5 on my current ROM which is running 4.0.3 and have had on previous ROM's but this is the first time I have seen 5 horizontal icons on the home page, had never seen it as an option either.
I will investigate some more as I don't really want to use another launcher.
It's not even funny to post "Rom Challenge " in android development section.
That's my mistake I will withdraw the post. Thanks.

Hello kite, what you need to do is install apex or nova, then adb pull /data/app
In your adb folder, you'll see either an app folder or the apps themselves.
Nova would be "com.teslacoil.launcher" or something. You should be able to tell which is which.
Any app pulled is usually "com" then the developer account, then whatever.
Just rename it to Nova.apk or Apex.apk.
Put it in your system/app folder.
To remove the Sense launcher, delete Rosie.apk.
Don't forget to press my thanks button if I helped you!
