I always look at it like this, especially with phones that get a lot of dev support.... Buy whichever non-nexus phone that you like the most based on specs, screen size/quality, hardware, camera, etc.
Then like I said, if there is a lot of dev support, just flash an aosp based rom of your choice if you want the nexus experience.
I personally always like to have the option of going back to a manufacturer ui if I want to. But I understand if you only like stock android. And I understand your hesitation since this phone isn't guaranteed any sort of dev support.

That's one reason I like the s4 is because at least I have the Google edition Roms. But then I have the same concerns you had for leaving the s4. I had the optimus g last year and Dev support picked up after I had left and gone to the note 2.

I'm rocking both the HTC DNA and G2. So far w/o root\unlock on G2, IMO, DNA w/ CM 10.2 > G2. But I'll have patience. The dev's will get it. I trust them

i'll have the one and g2 come tomorrow (as well as a lumia 1020) if i find some time i'll put together a comparison. personally i'm curious as to the hand feel of the g2 vs the one as i've been hesitant to get above 5" screen phones for a while due to them seeming too big for a phone. the g2 on paper seems like it might hit that sweet spot in size for me.
i'm curious to see how the camera stacks up to the one and 1020, as the 1020 has the best camera i've seen on any phone ever.

yeahh... G2 Roockkk.... i prefer G2 feature than every S4 air feature,

I'd love your opinion on further comparisons between the phones. I have a DNA ATM but have that incurable upgrade itch, though paying around with software has gotten me by this far. My ego is telling me to wait until next July when I have another upgrade but my id is telling me to get in the car and go to verizon ASAP,

BLUF: I'd wait until unlock and ROM'd and purchase a matte finished cover with it.

It was not tough to justify spending $140+tax on the G2 knowing I could sell it ASAP and exit my verizon plan with the ETF paid by anyone wanting to pick the phone up today.
Continuing on the comparison, I've put Nova on, added the double click to sleep from sleep lock and the G2 is solid. The battery and fast charging are great. Fast charging my phone yesterday from 50% to 100% was under 1.5 hrs. Only down side would be picking up another fast charging plug. I have two DT-900s for wireless charging, home and work, and love that Verizon included the wireless charging feature as well. If you do not already own one, pick it up ASAP from AT&T for $25/ea, rumored to be available at 3 for 60. On the G2, Automatic dimming is "different". I'm not a fan of LGs auto dim feature. You set a baseline % for auto dimming, but the function seems lacking adaquate rapid adjustments from dark to light conditions in comparison to the DNA's.
I picked up the G2 for the clean bezel w/ on screen buttons, wider screen, included wireless charging capabilities and huge battery. Two out of four are found on the DNA. My dislikes on the G2 non-matte finish\fingerprint magnet back, LGs implementation of auto diming on this device (could be me, could be their design), and the locked bootloader\rom.

The HTC one has been out since May I think or maybe April and of course a newer phone will outperform it but that doesn't mean it's still not a nicer phone overall. The HTC one max will be a better comparison.

Trade Galaxy S3 for Optimus G?

I'm thinking about trading my Galaxy S3 and cash if need be for an Optimus G. Someone I know just got one and after playing with it I can tell it's noticeably faster than my phone, not by much, but the Quadcore S4 Pro is faster than the Dual-core S4 Plus in the S3 =(. If it were just an even trade I'd do it but I assume people will want cash since this phone is a bit newer and technically a tad bit more powerful. However, I feel as if the S3 has a better design (not boring square) and having Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and a ton of ROMS both touchwiz and AOSP to choose from is important to me. So I'd be losing out big time on that since I'd be running only ICS and virtually the only one ROM available. What should I do, I want the latest and greatest hardware but maybe I should wait for more ROMs and developer support?

I can see where you are coming from. Right now this phone is brand new. I came most recently from the Skyrocket and was thinking the same thing you were. This phone is expected to get a port or aosp soon from what the forums say. For right now you can add most of the Jelly Bean things to this platform using the software in the forum. My personal opinion is this phone will have a better life. The S3 is contending with its new big brother the Note 2. Samsung phones have been easier to play around with the most. The dev teams are working hard to get Jelly Bean to us, but you have to think it is the holidays still. I have no doubt that if you get this phone you will be happy with it. Never hurts to try something new you might be suprised.
hold on to the S3 until JB for the Optimus G comes out. then sell the S3 for cash and renew ATT contract to get the Optimus G for $99 at Amazon or Best Buy.
First post and you've been a member for over six years. That's impressive.
However, by the time JB comes out for the E970 AT&T will have something better for sale.

I just went from an S3 to the Optimus G. I absolutely loved my S3. Unfortunately, it broke so long story short, I went to the OG.
I love both phones. I feel the OG is a little faster (but not by much) and the picture is without a doubt more crisp. You can definitely see more when you're out in the daylight. However, the camera is better on the S3 in my opinion and the speaker blows on the OG. So it does have its downsides. Not to mention, development is incredibly slow compared to the S3 so if you're into flashing roms and all that good stuff, you might want to keep your S3. They're all saying just wait a bit but as it stands right now, the devs are loving the S3 apparently.
Either way, you can't go wrong
Personally, I love the LGOG. My roommate got the SG3 just a couple weeks before I upgraded from a HTC Inspire 4g. It's what kinda swayed me into getting the LGOG. (Was never going to get another HTC after what they did to Inspire.) Anyway, I play with my roommate's phone and she plays with mine. She's wishing she had gotten the LGOG while I'm saying "here, take your piece of plastic back." It really is a matter of preference. Good luck!
It was between a S3 and the OG of me coming from an inspire 4g as well. I just ended up not wanting an "oversized Fischer Price toy" Lol. But once again it entirely comes down to personal preference. All I know is I love my OG and can't wait for the development to really take off.

i sold my red SG3, and bought the LOG and love it, only I miss from the SG3 is led notification on the front other than that way better in every aspect
I prefer the OG notification LED on the side more because I always place my cell phone face down on surface to protect the screen. My wife is using a galaxy note 2 and I don't like where Samsung placed the notification LED on hers either.

S3's notification was HUGE which is a plus, but it looks really tacky on the white s3 since it bleeds through the white color.
I have them both and they are very good phones. I'm split between them and I think I'll keep both. S3 feels lite and sleek, OG feels heavy and more scared I'll brake it. They are very fast, the screens s3 has beautiful blacks and color and the OG has sharp and bright. The s3 screen is more like a Pioneer Plasma Tv and the OG screen looks like Sony

I have both (except I have the unlocked quad core S3) as well as a few other devices. The Optimus G is suffering from the original Epic syndrome where it seemed to be behind development and software wise but after two years the OG Epic slide out keyboard phone has the current JellyBam available for it. If you can deal with being a little patient, the LGOG is raw power waiting to be unlocked. Being new to AT&T, I don't know where development is compared to the international S3 which has multi window and other Note 2 features ported. Even with all of that, my S3 is tied for 3rd place with LGOG and Note 2 1 and 1a.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317
I appreciate all the replies I have decided to stick with the S3 for now as Jelly Bean and ROM availability is something I just cannot give up. But the Optimus G is no doubt a great phone with the best hardware available. However I am going to just wait it out, maybe until more development or for a 1080p Optimus G2 or S4 maybe?

I was also thinking about that too, because I know if I unlocked my S3 I could get a pretty penny on eBay for it probably. My upgrade isn't until October though so by then I'm sure a new generation of the Optimus G and the S4 will be out.

Yea like it's really Apple's and Orange's, playing with the Optimus G I can notice right away how nice and crisp the screen is. Outdoor visibility on the Optimus G is better, but it's a trade off to me for no Jelly Bean and virtually no development support.

The deciding factor for me was the SoC. You have the S4 Pro and the new Adreno GPU (assuming you compare both AT&T versions). The G will get it's development soon, I mean I doubt the S3 had amazing development during it's first two months. They are both great phones however, and I have soft spot for Samsung after my indestructible Captivate.

You're kidding, right? Rooted before release, roms the first day of release, AOSP in both CM10 and AOKP within a week or two of release... And that was just for the AT&T & T-Mo versions. Plus you had Cyanogen himself doing the CM builds, along with Task doing the AOKP build for AT&T. I believe Roman and Nighthawk (two of the people in charge of AOKP) were doing the builds for the T-Mo variant.
The ONLY thing that's making me consider the OG (and an LG in general) is because of the Nexus and the dev work that MIGHT be able to be ported over. I got burned with the Thrill (literally, got so hot it burned my hand), and I followed the lack of development on the Nitro as well.

It's almost march...

Feels like another stinker to me... maybe.

Got the G2 on launch day from a Verizon store here in town. Phone is great, no doubt about that. What worries me is that this appears to be a hero phone without much demand. HTC has done a great job of marketing the One, and everyone knows Moto. The G2 on display at the Verizon store is jammed between an iPhone and an older model Samsung something-or-other with no signage other than a huge "Samsung Galaxy" poster on the wall behind it.
If I keep this, it will be the third device in a row that I've bought as a "flagship" which wound up getting the cold shoulder in many ways.
First I had the HTC Incredible, probably the most popular of the bunch. While it did have ROM development, it was quickly forgotten when the HTC EVO came out seemingly a week later. Accessories were few and far between.
Second was the Galaxy Nexus, heralded as a "Google experience" device on Verizon. After endless launch delays, it came out and was quickly forgotten by Verizon and Google both. Accessories were few and far between.
Now I have the LG G2, a great device with awesome specs! I actually don't mind the Verizon/LG "skin" on this so much. But again, Verizon had to **** it up with changing the buttons and making the thing thicker. Accessories will be practically nil for this device other than the three cases from Verizon at launch. There will be countless Chinese imports that will claim to fit but will not, because the back-alley factories making this crap don't give a damn about doing anything per spec. Just make it look vaguely correct and slap a knock off hello-kitty design on the back and call 'er done! "Your Happy Plastic Partner" indeed!
I am also afraid that development will completely stall on this device because everyone will head to the Nexus 5...
Sigh... I should just go trade for an HTC One, I think... I don't know. I am torn.
The moto x isn't selling well (att rep who owns a moto x said he hasn't been able sell a single one) HTC marketing well, are you kidding? They are losing money head over heels even with the one. They only thing with LG is, they have a very small market share they are not Apple or Samsung.

Specs or no specs, anyone I know that has or has tried a MotoX loved it. I think whats killing them is the $199 for a 16GB non-expandable phone, sitting right next to a 32GB Galaxy S4 and HTC One for 149, the LG G2 for 199, etc.
And their goal with that phone WASNT balls to the wall specs....it was supposed to reliable and economical (but again the high price question still applies)
I have used the moto x and can tell you the 720 display and processor really are fine. The software enhancements kick total ass. That being said this phone Absolutely destroys it on every front. I absolutely hate amoled. Way too dim.

This. Everything is fine with the moto x, and I'd still be using it if the battery was decent but lately I've been getting idle drain that I can't figure out. As for amoled, it's great indoors, terrible outside. If LG steps their game up with update frequency I have no problem keeping this phone for a long time. Same goes for the moto x if I was somehow getting the 5+ hours of screen on time per day some people are reporting. Oh, and one grip with lg. Why is there not an option to make the buttons on the bottom like aosp to have the recent apps button and not just the menu...

No, you do NOT want an HTC One. I just sold my One for the G2...the G2 completely destroys the One in every way except for speakers and construction material, which are two minor things IMO since I prefer using headphones and the G2 feels solid/premium even though it's not metal. The One IS a great phone, but not as great as the G2. I really don't care if the G2 isn't bought in mass by the masses because I know I have a great phone and that's all that matters. I will be a little disappointed if there aren't many custom roms, but I'm OK with that because the stock rom is super smooth and customizable, plus I will be less tempted to constantly swap roms if there aren't many available

Actually I think the blame for locked bootloaders falls on the carriers, not the manufacturer. S4 is unlocked but not on VZW, etc.
LG will do whatever VZW tells them (or lets them). But VZW may not care if they really dont think this phone will sell well, or if they arent marketing it very much (which, as we can tell, they are NOT)

LG G2 scene compared to Samsung

Hey there!
So I recently lost my Galaxy S4 (no questions asked, please) which I was very happy with. I played a lot around with different roms, kernels and stuff.
Now I'm thinking about getting the LG G2 because it seems like the cool new thing on the market. I notice, though, that there aren't really that big scene around for it - I really base that in the forum activity here on XDA. So I would like to know what people's experience is with this thing, especially if you've played around with the SGS4 as well.
A bit off topic in here - I would like to know how it is to root and mod, is it easily bricked? That's one thing I really liked on the Samsung phones in general.
Do you think there will be a bigger scene once it gets out to more people? And roms as well? I know it's hard to live up to the Samsung hype but still...
L8r!
Don't know what to tell you. This phone rocks. The battery the screen the form factor. Couple it with the latest cpu and Graphic ram (what ever that is). This phone packs the best spec right now. The camera is no slouch either with OIS it is up there with the best.
As for developments, this device is so ready. Right now there is root and twrp and CWM. Read it somewhere about kernel source is released (need to fact check on that). This device is more than ready for development.
But still people are waiting one the fence until the released of nexus 5 to make their choices.
But for me I have already made my mine with 3000mah vs 2300mah battery there is nothing nexus 5 can do to beat this.

I've had the S4 (twice), and it doesn't even compare to this phone. The S4 was an un-optimized piece of trash imo. This phone is the opposite where everything is quick and the features actually make sense.
The screen is better, performance is better and battery life is much better. Just grab this phone, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome phone, just got it, camera and vid are awesome, cam software could be improved a bit but really it's the best phone I've used, def like it better than s4.. and the nex5 battery is a deal breaker, coupled with an 8mp camera I read it's supposed to have... definitely G2.

You're going to love it! Now that I think about it, I haven't had a phone where just about everyone who I've asked is in love with it and raves about it this much (check the other forums S4, HTC One, Note 3, 5s etc)
The G2 is that good. I had the HTC One for a week & took it back to get the G2 once I saw it at the store & don't miss the One @ all. I even waited 2 extra weeks to get the white version.
I'm very particular about the phones I get & how I use them. Trust me, this one will also get put through its paces. In the short time I've had it, I can tell you, its no slouch, the battery is insane, it just won't die no matter what I try to do & this is on the stock ROM!!!!
All I've done it turn off Carrier IQ which you can do without Root! Whoa. You'll see in a few days when you get it.
P.S
There's a Dev on the forums who mentioned they're making ROMs for our phone. In a few weeks this place is going to be buzzing & you'll be amazed @ what your new phone can do

ha good one... the screen CAN'T compare! I have had the HTC One, S4 and S4 active and this screen is SO much better. Plus everything else it better too. So go play with one and you will see what we mean
I don't normally jump into these types of threads but I have to voice my opinion. I've always been a Samsung fan and love their phones. I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus and have had plenty of hands on experience with the S3. This phone easily trumps both, hands down. The speed of this phone is amazing, the screen is beautiful and not over saturated like the AMOLED displays, the features are endless (I've had the phone since Thursday and I'm still finding little things out) and development is sure to pick up soon. The rear button placement does take a day or so to get used to but with the Knock On feature I hardly ever press the power button. Go through the 30 Day Challenge videos on PhoneDog about the phone. Their biggest gripe is they claim the phone is TOO FAST!

niceto see the note cheats on all but one, LG only on 2.
Anyway whos to say these are cheats, if you run your mobile optimally by changing characteristics, it can hardly be called a cheat, its more optimalization.
also as its been debunked a thousand times over, benchmarks say nothing, its all about your percieved performance.
What is wrong with maxing out to phone setting before benchmark? It is not like they faked the score or anything. I remember my PC days when we used to freeze the cpu and overclock the **** out of it. That may be the extreme example but it is what your hardware is capable off.
-LG G2
Lets just say I'm surprised how good this phone is. The best smart phone I've every owned. My last phone was a GNex with stock 4.3.
Coming from the s4, the screen ALONE makes the G2 a winner to me. The outdoor performance of the g2 KILLS amoled.
Battery life is amazing. I average about 15 hours a charge. Heck, today I'm going on 13 hours since I unplugged it and got 47% battery left. (Location service turned off. I use an app called "smart shortcuts to give me a shortcut to location services for when I need Maps)
Performance wise, this is as smooth as 4.3 gpe ROM I was running on my s4. And that's STOCK.
those factors alone actually made rethink about rooting. But I needed to root to hide those dang on soft keys

LG G2
I too must confess, (like anyone really cares), I have been a fan of the Galaxy line since they started making them, and I was impressed with both the S4 and N3; was even contemplating picking that up, since my wife and I were due for an upgrade in a few days, she is bent on going for the N3 so that was out of the question, (can't have us both walking around with the same phone), but then I came across the LG G2 on one of those comparison videos and immediately fell in love. After that I went searching for information all over, which brought me back here, because I knew that if this phone was really as hot as I thought it was then it was sure to be buzzing on this forum. And I'm glad to see you guys don't disappoint. You've helped me make my choice that much easier. And can't wait to get my hands on this phone in a few days.
I do have a few questions though:
Is the LG OS on top of the Android OS easy to deal with or is it cumbersome and superfluous?
Would I truly miss not having an micro SD card slot, or is the phone so much ****s and giggles that I won't even notice?
What was the longest time someone has gone without charging their battery, with a full assortment of apps running?

Thinking about getting the G2 !

So I'm trying to decide between the G2 , the One , and the S4. I was about to order the One until I saw the G2 on sale , so I kind of want the G2 now. But I'm worried about 2 things. One is I've read up on a lot of people who have dropped the G2 from a low height and the screen cracked. And on top of that most of the stories I've read the digitizer doesn't function properly or the phone just wont turn on. Is this a big problem with the G2? I don't mind the screen cracking , but if it cracks AND doesn't work that worries me. Also , will development pick up for this device? I know it came out not too long ago , but will there be more Roms ported from the Nexus 5 since its the same hardware ( Mostly ) ? Also what are the advantages over the S4 and the One? I know the G2 has better specs but is it really that noticeable ? And since I root my phones and install just stock CM etc will there really be a noticeable difference in speed for me ?
And if I root the device as soon as I get it , and install a custom Rom , theres a way to flash it back to stock to where they'll take it back right? ( The Verizon version )
Yes it is noticeable and the phone has amazing battery comparable to the note 2 which was amazing btw I came from the s4 and the camera is much better less chance of blurring

Here is another tid bit even on a wind mobile version of s4 which comes with no carrier bloatware and lone behold Samsung put it's on bloatware apps on it...then you have to remember to turn off their 50 useless features that you will never use and kill your battery quicker then quick.

It's truly an awesome phone. I'm also coming from Note 2 and yeah this thing blows that out of the water. Honestly the G2 launcher is pretty incredible. As someone else mentioned, it's like LG mimicked CM a bit. So many options and customizations and features. I sometimes help a coworker out with his Note 3 and after getting the G2 it really shows how stale/outdated TouchWiz feels these days.
I've mostly had Samsung devices (Epic Touch, Epic Touch 4G, Note 2 and GS3 a bit (wife's), now on G2 and couldn't be happier. Really a beautiful phone with amazing battery life.
For the first time in a long time I am not running a home launcher. LG did a fine job putting this OS together for the G2. There are so many small things LG has done right with this phone that I am not regretting the switch from Samsung. As others have mentioned the battery life is just amazing!

This phone is great, it looks good and has a beautiful 5.2" screen. I bought one, but unfortunately I returned it and kept my S4 (octocore) for a few reasons.
G2 PROS:
- Big and bright screen.
- Good looking phone.
- Excelent battery life.
- SnapDragon 800.
G2 CONS:
- Underperforming GPU. Adreno 330 on G2 perform as much as Adreno 320. Z1, Z Ultra and N3 Adreno 330 are much better.
- Screen can't keep constant 60 FPS on games, probably has some synch issues. Even when the GPU is capable. It just fluctuates all the sime between 55 and 60 FPS.
- Some color banding.
- Some physical vertical lines on screen, once you notice it is a little annoying.
- No SDCARD, the 32GB model is mandatory.
Since I mostly use my phones for gaming, the GPU problems is what make me hold my S4 and ditch my G2, otherwise I would have keep it.
PS. If LG fixes GPU problems with update, I would happily take this phone again
But has anybody dropped their phone a few times without it breaking ?
I haven't heard of any screen cracking when dropped, but I would assume whoever didn't have a case look their phone. It's easy to crack a phone when our has no case. I have a Tech21 case and was throwing the phone around the mobile store and nothing broke on the phone so I'm happy. As far as development is concerned, I hope it does pick up, but the stock is ok for me right now because I'm rooted and I don't need to tether. I actually sold my S4 for this. It had too much lag with tw for me. And last, yeah you can flash it back to stock. Imo this is one of the nicest phones on the market

If you're worried about durability then cross out the S4. I haven't dropped the G2 but my old S4 easily got its screen cracked when I dropped it while it had a case on. Overall, I prefer the G2 over the S4. Can't speak for the One though since I never used it but supposedly the One's successor is going to be released in Q1 of next year so you may want to take that into consideration.
Just pulled trigger & upgraded from the og razr to the g2 while their free on vzw.

I wrote this in a different thread. I bought a g2 to compare it to my Droid Maxx. The nicer bigger screen is all that I am liking more as of now. Everything else especially the operating system and battery life are better on the Maxx, by alot. I got the soak test update on the Maxx before that the pictures were better on my G2. Now they are about the same. IMHO the maxx is a better phone.

Because its part of the phone. A feature.... Something that makes it better

I in the same boat. I'm about to switch carriers (Sprint) And the only phones i'm interested is the G2 and the HTC ONE. I have a S4 as we speak...
I'm tired of TW since I used to have it in S2 days. And it is no different than the S3.. Comes to find out my S3 takes better pictures than my S4 weird.. In any case I have had bad experience with LG when I had the G2X (OPTIMUS 2X) LG completely forgot about that phone and was not giving support for it neither releasing source code.. And that phone had an NVIDIA Tegra processor witch they wont release their source code either.... So I've seen before the Optimus G after a while of it being released and still had a lock bootloader. What I care much is development support.. Because if the manufacture not supporting it we will be the only ones that do and for that to happen this phone have to have support of maufactoring for releasing source code and enabling unlocking bootloader. I see that the G2 is doing pretty good and that Is why I would like to give it another chance. I know they said that they want to turn things around the company when they released this device and I hope they do for the best. The HTC one is the other phone i'm interested in but the lack of the camera comparation between this phone and the One I seen online Makes me want to slap HTC.
It wont be long before i make the switch to sprint and till then I will be looking more into the G2 to see if development picks up... Another cool thing is if I could flash International roms on the Sprint G2. That should be good more developers working together.

What's better with G2, and are you happy?

What device were you using before G2, and what made you go for the G2?
What's the best single upgrade on your G2 from your old device? Speed? Camera? Sound?
I'll go first:
I came from Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, which was a great phone. I just grew tired of having to charge at least twice a day no matter what. The G2 has amazing battery life, also it's faster (obviously) and that eases up on being annoyed by the constant lags of N7000. However, the speaker placement was kinda better on N7000 (back side), at least for when holding the G2 in landscape. My finger tends to block the speaker on the G2, never happened on the N7000. Also, ROM development is awesome on the N7000 (still), which is something I miss on the G2. Luckily Flex 1.5 is fast and stable, never had any problems. Knock on feature: Awesome! Button placement: Awesome! Also, camera on the G2 is an amazing upgrade from the N7000, and that what I think is best about upgrading from N7000.
I'll never look back.
I came from an iPhone 4 and the reason I changed was to get out of Apple's ecosystem.
What opened my eyes for Android was that I bought a Chinese Android tabled and I was overwhelmed with the things I could do with it. Nobody forced you to run one specific software and you could overclock, underclock etc.
Then I realized which kind of prison Apple has put their customers in, and since it was time for a new phone (had my i4 since Q2 2011 and it was becoming laggy) I wanted something awesome.
When I first purchased my iPhone, it could handle virtually EVERY game, but as it grew older it started to lag even with simple games and the whole user experience wasn't as pleasant as before.
So when I was looking for a new phone, I had some requirements:
- Good battery life
- Display Density same as or over my old iPhone
- Good hardware
I really don't use my camera that much, so that wasn't a problem for me at all but it was nice to know it had a 13MP shooter with OIS.
My choices were boiled down to either the Note 3, LG G2 or Nexus 5. I disliked the XPERIA Z1 - no idea why.
I wanted the Note mainly because of the stylus and the split-screen, but it's size and price were a huge turnoff. The Note 3 was about $200 more than G2.
The LG had a nice screen, good size (albeit a tad too big since my fingers are relatively small), great battery life and a smooth UI - and it was cheap too!
The Nexus 5 was the phone I was wanting the very most prior to it's release - Stock android, timely updates and blazing fast. In Denmark, however, you can only get the 16 gb version and many reviews claimed that the battery wasn't really big enough. The Nexus 5 was priced equally to the LG G2.
I was quite unsure about the hardware buttons being placed on the back and the fragility of the phone, but I still purchased it. I haven't regret it (and I won't be doing that anytime soon) and it continues to amaze me.
I was uncertain about the "future-proof"-ment of the Snapdragon 800, but when I saw the announcement of the Snapdragon 805, I figured it wouldn't be that much of an upgrade to the Snapdragon 800 and that the next-gen 64-bit processors wouldn't come before late '14. I plan on keeping my G2 for another two or three years and despite the "slow" updates, I am seriously considering LG as my next phone as well.
I came from nexus 5.
Main reason was battery and storage. I had 16 gb nexus 5 abs was able to sell it and get a 32 gb g2 for the same price.
Battery also lasts twice as long. On nexus 5 I averaged 4 hours sot on the g2 I get 4 ande still 50 percent left. Its Awesome. I also like the extra features. Stock on nexus 5 got kinda boring. If I want aosp I'll just flash a custom Rom

You left out the "I like peanut butter" option in the poll.
I came from the GS3. I was a previous crack flasher on the GS3, because there was always a feature I wanted that was only available in custom ROMS. After having the G2 since launch, I've flashed a good number or ROMS, but ALWAYS go back to stock rooted. It has all the features, battery life and reliability I could ever want. I've never been content with any phone I've had stock, but I can honestly say this phone is perfect for me. For once I haven't even looked at what phones are going to be released, I could care less. I've found the phone that does everything I need and it has freed me from the constant wanting of a new phone.
Came from a HTC One X.
Loved this phone, but w/ only 1 gig of ram, the experience wasn't as smooth as I would've liked. I'm a Sense fan and it was a little tough to give that up (I think i'm the only person who loves blinkfeed). When looking for an upgrade, I wanted the best processor I could find for the cheapest money (off contract). This phone was it. Best attribute of this phone has to be the battery. This thing is a beast and very innovative in the way it was designed. I'm also very impressed with the remote app. Very solid app if I say so myself. After spending a few days with this device, it makes my One X feel small in every way. I feel like I have found the device that I can truly stick with for long time.
Scrib'd on my OG2
I have had a journey with cell phones and now I have ended up with the G2 and This device is a straight beast!
I got the iPhone 5S on launch day and then decided I wanted to go back to Android and I traded it for a Note 3. Note 3 really didn't live up to the hype and decided to go back with the 5S. Shortly I just realized how limited ios is and decided the only thing left to try up to the standard of those previous phones is the G2.
I feel this device is better than the N3 by a long shot. The way LG interface handles the OS is phenomenal! Battery life is a beast and I have experienced no lag at all. I haven't got involved with the camera too much but I snapped a few pictures and they have come out great. Installed Nova launcher and SwiftKey and I'm good to go!!!

Well i came from an s4 and have to say the g2 is way bettery, brighter screen faster and way better battery life, only thing i a little annoyed with right now is my screen is cracked again.. i got my g2 from my father he had it dropped it and cracked the screen so i traded him my s4 and replaced the screen on it, well what do you know... it dropped off my night stand on the floor from 2 feet and cracked again... :crying: i like the little to no Bessie on the side but lg definitional needs to do something about its display, now it does not recognize touch on the lower half. i had a screen protector on and at 1st did not notice it was cracked, i would rather be able to use it with the cracked screen...
I had a Lumia 920 earlier. It was a beautiful phone but that's about it. Lack of apps was a big pain. I was looking for a phone with a good camera and a big screen. S4 fitted my bill but it's so common that everyone who doesn't have an iPhone has it. Then I came across G2. Read the reviews etc and realized that this was a phone that was just made for me (I can vouch on that!).
I understand techie things well but I'm still learning about custom ROMs and Mods. The choices available in terms of apps and ROMs are mind boggling and then I'm still looking for answers on rooting and flashing. I read horror stories on how rooted phones get "bricked" when they get OTAs but there is no clear answer on how to stop OTAs or how to retain the root in spite of OTAs. Anyways, it's an interesting world out here on flashing and customization and I like it!
I came from an iPhone 4s. Probably the most compelling reason why I switched is the awesome display of the G2 (and the specs as well). I just got tired of the small screen size of the iPhone, although I somewhat miss the better selection of apps in the App Store and the overall simplicity of iOS. On the other hand, the ability to customize Android to my liking kind of evens it out for me. It just take more work than usual, but nothing too complicated.
i am pretty disappointed by the camera...i expected so much from a 13mp shooter with OIS...eveythng else is superv
I've got a VS980 with the latest Mahdi ROM & furnace kernel and I'm very happy. Camera doesn't matter that much to me, and I'm sure the software will improve. I've had excellent battery life, very little SODs and no call echo. Not going to change ROMs any time soon.

Have you tried the z1? That beast is as smooth as a nexus And smoother than the g2 for sure when it comes down to hi. It's not anywhere near as bloated as touchwiz and lg ui but it's nit as bare as stock either. Perfect in between. I was going to get a z1s but it was locked to tmobile so I traded for the g2 instead. And I'm happy with it though the verizon version buttons are annoying to try and press
