Please help 5 day old 4g lte evo - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Ok lets see. Last night I spent a few hours and got my evo 4g lte to load (twrp) so not only do I have bootloader(fastboot) I have twrp... I try to post the specs that I do know...{s-on, hboot- 2.09.0000, radio- 1.12.11.1210, and twrp 2.5.0.0..... But I have nothing on my internal sd at all so there was nothing to flash or revert to... When I booted into twrp and mounted to my computer internal was empy so I tried to put a ruu zip file there unmounted and tried to flash it in twrp...Nothing happened... So after hours of looking for what to do the only thin I see is to go S-OFF with PANDA? Im hopeing you guys can tell me if that's the right thing to do or should I try to get some type of rom or stockrom on the phone first? Also what is UBUNTU and do I need to use it...THANKS GUYS ALOT,ROB

Download meanBean and move it to your phone
In twrp select mount/mount usb storage copy the rom to your phone
Unmount
Choose Advanced wipe and choose cache/dalvik cache/system/data
Go back to twrp home page and choose install/find the rom and flash
It will have to be flashed twice

Follow the directions posted above. As far as gaining S-off, you can use Dirty Racun or Moonshine. Moonshine is Windows friendly if you're not into Linux & Ubuntu

Will Do
Thanks a lot guys... I will try The meanbean way first and if that don't work can I go right to gaining s-off even tho my phone has no operating system(internal is blank)??? Thanks again in advance bigdaddy619 and finZ28
Im sorry I forgot to say that I'm unlocked dev style and rooted of course....

You have to be able to boot into the OS in order to use Moonshine. Having said that, you shouldn't have any problems if you follow Bigdaddy's instructions.

Ok..I will post 2nite when I get out of work and go to work on phone...Thanks again, Rob :good:

Thanks soo much!!!!!!!
So I went home and mounted via twrp and put meanbean on, then unmounted and flashed meanbean and "WAMMO" I'm back up n running... Thank you soo much for responding... It may seem simple but I was soo lost when I erased my o.s. I almost tried to return it... I'm kinda worried about doing s-off after not having a phone for 2 days but if it will make flashing stuff easier and less problems I just might take the plunge.... I got another ? For ya guys... I have WiFi teather that comes with meanbean and got it working but the dl speed is bearly working...its like 90kb when on my old EVO 4g I got 700kb or more depending on connection... Do you genius people have a fix for this? Thanks again and again...

juopunutbear s-off failed

Ok guys, I didnt think I would end up in this boat but I did So I am still on GB Firmware (.11), nandroided back to stock rom with SU installed. Downloaded 3.14 RUU to flash after s-off, downloaded controlbear for GB (windows), downloaded latest amon ra recovery and whatever else was needed. So phone is on, in usb debug, then I start controlbear, runs through its thing, reboots the phone to the juopunutbear screen and asks for the wire trick, I tried for about half an hour and it would reboot when i got the timing right but the went to the "taking another sip" or whatever it says and then error, still sober. I just want to make sure I have everything correct and if not, what i'm doing wrong. I have been reading all the guides for the last month over and over preparing for this so I was comfortable. I got back to fastboot, flashed amon ra and nandroid back to nils business ICS so my phone is back in working condition. Any help would be appreciated. I looked around some, but I was hoping some direct help would make it easier.
Thanks in advance
Cameron
Honestly I would try a different computer if you have one.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Only my laptop has adb working at the moment. Does everything else seem to be fine?
usually the issue is with the computer and not the phone.
Another question. If it fails, and leaves the phone on the juopunutbear screen, I can still restart control bear with the phone on that screen right? When i do, it gets back to wire trick and reboots and fails again.
I switched computers and that worked second try. Thanks so much Con!!!!
Edit: Everything is running great. Updated to latest leak, amon ra recovery, and flashing Ineffabilis Deus right now. Was really hoping for Joel to have Charmander uploaded tonight, but oh well. I've asked for enough already lol. Thanks again Con

If the Htc amaze is like the Rezound you should be able to fastboot flash the stock boot.img from the rom you are on and it should get you back booting.

[Q] Serious problems switching ROMs

I've got an Amaze 4G on Wind Mobile. My brother and I recently tried upgrading it to ICS. We followed numerous sets of instructions, flashing a recovery, a new version of hboot, s-offing the phone, changing the SuperCID and flashing an ICS ROM. We originally tried Android Revolution HD, but the phone always got stuck at the HTC logo and wouldn't boot up.
After a few hours of searching the forums and trying various things, we finally got the Energy ROM version 5/1 installed, after changing the SuperCID back to the Wind default (globa001 I think). We figured it was an issue with the Revolution ROM, but when I tried upgrading to Energy 5/6, I ran into the same issue.
I have searched the forums and found numerous people with the same problem, but I have not found a solution. I spent all night flashing ROMs and trying various things and I finally got it to go to the Energy boot animation, but it would just sit there and do nothing (I left it a good half hour). The next morning I tried installing Speed Rom with the SuperCID 11111111 and it worked. However, I had tried the same thing the night before, so I'm not sure what changed.
I'm not happy with Speed and would like to go back to Energy, but I'm worried it will brick my phone again.
I am currently using the TWRP recovery, but I used 4ext before with the same result. My firmware versions are as follows:
RUBY PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.93.0002
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0202
eMMC-boot
Any help would be very much appreciated.

ok, well if your on wind mobile you want to use super cid.
but heres what i think the problem is, you didnt mention anything about wiping. try flashing the superwipe.zip before flashing roms. and always have a nandroid of a working rom. or else you may get stuck....
if you need anymore help, i will be watching this thread
Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I used superwipe and tried the various wipe options in the recovery, with the same result.
I'll definitely look into nandroid before I try installing another rom ;-)
I'd advise switching back to 4EXT recovery, makes flashing easier, trust me. Now update your phone to stock ICS, install 4EXT recovery then format all partitions except sd then install the ROM of your choice.
Before installing ICS you'll need to flash GB stock from WIND, then update to ICS via either OTA or directly on the phone via OTA. Then do what I said above, let us know what happens.
yeah like dark said above me, use 4ext. it makes flashing easier.

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm a little confused about how to proceed though. I downloaded the stock Wind ruu.exe file from the forums, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm running Linux, so I can't execute the file. Is there any way to flash it without a Windows machine?
Also, do I need to relock my bootloader and go through the whole s-off procedure again, or can I simply downgrade to GB and upgrade back to ICS again without going through all those steps?

Once you're s-off once, you'll always be s-off unless you s-on again, to use the windows file your best option would be to use WINE. Which I figure you should be know how to use.

Thanks again for your help. I followed your instructions: Downgraded to GB, flashed the Wind ICS OTA, install 4ext recover, ran superwipe and formatted everything except the SD card, and then flashed Energy 6/6. It got past the HTC screen, but got stuck on the Energy boot animation.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Right now I don't se any S-On instructions for Energy rom, though I do see one for Android Revolution HD. I need to get CWM re-installed as that was lost. Do I need S-Off to get Energy Rom?
How do I get the latest Energry rom installed?

How to root 1.53.0007?

hey i've never rooted a phone before and i'm having a hard time finding out how to do this,,
i have the shooter_u, s-on, hboot 1.53.0007, eMMC-boot, RADIO-11.25.3504.06_M.
is there a way to root it, if not when will it be possible and is there anything else i can do with it like flash custom ROM etc? :fingers-crossed:
htcdev
go to htcdev(dot)com/bootloader/ and click on the right "Begin Unlock Bootloader"
u will need to register.. imput some random information all will be ok
and just follow the steps its easy..
I found this in the GSM development stickies:

Now you only unlocked the bootloader, which is not rooting.
OP.
After you did the above, you have to flash a custom recovery and flash superuser 3.x.x for ICS.
Look around, plenty of topics that answer your question.

The only issue with s-on is that the ICS ROMs tend to bootloop for most people. I recommend you get s-off. See the stickies in the Evo3d GSM development thread for more help with that.

Hey, i've got a major problem with the mwakious3Drom® rom, i followed the wrong steps and installed the newest version straight away through recovery, and now when i turn on the evo 3d it stays on the white screen with green letters 'HTC' forever, it never goes off.
i've tried factory reset but it's of no use; also tried restoring it through a nandroid backup i think, through recovery from jus tafter i rooted but it takes long on the 'restoring boot image' part and once that part's done the other things take place except for 'ext-sdcard' or something, ]it still dosen't work and stays on htc logo when turned on.
I thought i may be able to install a different ROM so i downloaded evolver3D2.3, however when conencted through usb cable from evo 3d to the pc, the 'removable disk (j' shows up but when clicked on it replies ' please insert a disk into removable disk(j', it dosen't let me go onto my sdcard so i cant copy the files.
When i go onto fastboot and have the usb connected the 'fastboot usb' does show up on the 3d so there's still hope i can do something from there but i really don't know where to start and i'm afraid if i've bricked it; have i or is it fixable?
Please, please help me, i would be so grateful
edit : btw, i have the anryl kernel 30.09 if this could be helpful.
First dont worry everything is fixable at xda second i will try to help u as much as i can if ur memory card isnt readable anymore , put mwakious 3D rom 11 the base one on another sd card and boot into recovery and do a full wipe and flash it and to flash thr patches make a full boot then reboot to recovery wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash the update i rly dont know what happened to that sd card and if that didnt work search for OTA ics ruu and flash it in bootloader and then s-off that hboot 1.53.007 trust me its easy and its way easier to flash roms and to avoid bootloops
Hit the thanks button if i helped

If you can remove the sd card and plug it in to your computer directly, you can check to make sure it is working properly (and copy the ROM over at the same time). If you can boot into recovery from fastboot, then you can flash the ROM. If not, you'll have to push a new recovery through your computer.

hey guys, i fixed the problem by popping the sdcard in a blackberry and connecting it, afer a while it started to work so i installed the evolver32 rom. anyways it was workng perfectly BUT wifi dosen't work. so i thought wifi may not work only on that rom, however i installed the mwakious3Drom® rom and when i click wifi it says error and theres no wifi connection.. could this be due to me not getting s-off or do they just do that on 1.53.007 ?
I think no wifi is a symptom of a bad kernel flash due to being s-on. So I think being s-off and flashing again might help.

[Q] Unrooted, unlocked S-on but can't get custom ROM

So, I have gone through the whole process of rooting my phone, unlocking it. I have TWRP on it, Titanium backup (thankfully), Goo Manager. It is S-on. I have 2.09 Hboot. My TWRP-jewel is 2.5.0.0. Ok, now onto my question, I am trying to get CM-10 to load but it doesn't go any further than the load screen. No matter what I try. I have even tried switching to JellyBAM but all to no avail. Can someone offer me tips as to what I may have done or be doing wrong? Thanks in advance
[Q] trying to put CM10 on my rooted phone
Forgive me if I put this in the wrong group, but I feel this is probably the right one for it. I have Hboot 2.09. I have TWRP. I have S-on. I want to put CM10 with Gapps onto my phone but every way I have tried, CM10 just sits there and loops around, the longest being an hour. I figured some time was possible, but come on. Over on Google+, people are telling me to flash this and flash that, fastboot this or that. I have no idea what they are trying to say to me. I am loving learning all of this but I need a little more explanation than just flash something. I realize that flash has something to do with commands. I am running windows 8 if that helps on my laptop. My TWRP version is 2.5.0.0. I don't know if my phone has gone through the latest update or not. Thanks for any help you can give me!
You have to install the kernel separately from the ROM since you're S-on. Click the link in my sig for more info.
You most likely have the newest touch panel driver, so you can only use ROM's based off the latest OTA, software version 3.16. Your touchscreen won't work otherwise. You can gain S-off and downgrade your touch panel driver, at which point you can run AOSP ROM's like CM.

First of all you might be on the newest touch panel driver, and that's the first thing that gets you in trouble because aosp roms don't work with that, as of now, it might work later... Who knows... Secondly you need to flash the boot.img separately thru fastboot because your are s-on and on 2.09... To make your life easier try to get s-off either thru facepalm or dirty racun... That way you can flash any rom and also downgrade your touch panel driver to get aosp working on your phone... If you flash viper rom it has a senseless option so you can use nova and get stability and some sort of aosp look... Good luck!

Yes, S-off is the way to go if you want to run CM. Otherwise, try meanbean or viper or sharkie or any other sense based Rom. They should work fine.

ADB commands must be issued when the phone is mounted as media share not as fastboot. Connect your phone as if you were transferring files between it and your pc.

I do have it connected to the computer like that. Do you mean I have to go into TWRP and mount it that way? I tried it that way too. I downloaded and whole new android SDK to see if that is the problem. If not, I am going to factory reset my phone and start over. I can't imagine why I was able to root the phone, get it unlocked, but now I can't do anything else with it. Not even get adb commands to recognize it.

This is for tabidee hey I was reading ur stuff on xda developers and I have a question. If u can help if not its cool. Ok so i got my sprint evo and I went to try to root it. I went thru a process that with the steps combined with htcdev site got me to say unlock my bootloader. I used hoot 2.09 and I was supposed to flash this pimg175 zip to i guess install a recovery. Well that won't work at all... I cant get my s on switched to s off and so i am stuck with according to the hoot screen a tampered, unlocked with s on, unrooted phone. I am so confused with all the steps and files I had to download, rename and save to various folders that I gave up. With my phone at its current state what do I do next? I deleted all the files from the day I unlocked it but if you can explain to me... And explain like if I was a five year old cuz I'm that dumbfounded on this subject... But if u can maybe walk me thru the rest of the process or walk me thru a undoing of what I done so far. I'm lisa. My email is [email protected]
Check out the link below. It's a GUI for rooting and has everything you need to get your phone rooted. You'll need to install the recovery first then superuser, which will give you root.

I had to do moonshine with wubi lunbuntu linux terminal. Rooting is easy u do it from google play look for 4.2.2 roms that are ok with s-on. mean is easy.
so I still have to connect my sh*t to da pc and go thru some more steps with this lunbuntu thing before though rite? BTW... the HTC software update won't complete itself so I'm still 4.1 I think

which version of TWRP did you use? 2.6.0.0 has issues. 2.6.1.0 is ok or PhilZ touch CWM works fine.
Never mind

All devices have different needs. Flashing an HTC one recovery on a 4glte could lead to many issues.
wth

Wrong forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1590 You're likely to get into more trouble reading responses in this thread from people not reading the title and assuming you mean a HTC One.

Yes to this.
robburns20 please be careful what device section you are posting in. You could end up with a brick if you do not post in the correct section.
