Samsung keyboard voice input without Google Now (search) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I noticed that the mic button of Samsung keyboard on any v4.1.2 rom is only available when Google search (The one with the annoying Google Now, aka velvet.apk) is installed. I've tried older Google Voice search instead of Google now but it did not work for the Sammy keyboard. Is there an alternative voice input/search to google now? Can velvet.apk be patched so it will only provide voice search/input functionality but not appear as a search app that runs in the background?
Any tip will be welcomed
Thanks

[Q] Google voice search on Beasty/clemsyn Ultimate froyo rom

I installed google voice version 2.1.4 from the market but everytime i long press the search soft button and start google voice search, it says that it has closed unexpectedly. Howver i am able to run it from youtube application and using voice input from the android keyboard. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advanced.

Iris voice assistant can also use Vlingo instead of google voice search!!!

Iris requires Google voice search for its voice recognition. Based on some code i went through written by Dexetra, i think Google voice API is used and hence, it is hard coded... But somehow through the TP voice io settings, i enabled Vlingo instead of google voice search and ran Iris...and it was able to answer some questions...thing is, Vlingo is better than Google voice when it comes to voice recognition...but it can respond correctly only to some questions and is quite unstable...I wish iris was compatible with Vlingo as much as it is with Google voice search...

[Q] Speech Recognition HTC Wildfire

I have installed the vlingo app which works with no problem (so far). However, when I download and run the app Talk to Me, and click the microphone, it says that "Speech Recognition Tool is not currently installed". I have searched all over Google to try and find what exactly it is that I need to install on my Wildfire to enable this app, and a couple of others, to recognise my speech. I would be grateful if someone can explain exactly what I need to do to enable speech recognition. Many thanks

[Q] Google search via bluetooth

Looking to find a way to have google search fully integrated into bluetooth.
we have two issues
1 ) getting google search to open when pressing the bluetooth key instead of voice dialler
2) getting google search to use the bluetooth mic instead of the built in one.
Having problems with both of these issues but apparently converting google search into a user app in titanium backup will fix 1.
Currently running cm10

Anyway to convince Android that Voice Search is a Voice Control App?

Hello,
I just got the new Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS which has the App Radio functions built in. I have bought ArLiberator and now have full control over my android device. Awesome. One great feature of the AVH-X8500BHS is if you hold down the "home" button on the radio it launches voice control. What this does is open a screen on the radio and then activate the default voice control app on the smartphone.
However, Android is only listing three options to take voice commands: One is Google Search which doesnt even show up in my app list. Instead I want to be able to open Voice Search which opens a Google Now app that actively waits for input.
Is there anyway to tell google to classify Google Voice Search as one of the apps that can be opened?
Anyone have any idea?
