I think I might be Going to back to the G Pro - G2 General

I think I might be going back to my G Pro in day to day performance it seems my G Pro does better.
The Screen on my G Pro is a LOT better as well not sure if I can get used to the back button but for some reason my G Pro feels better in the hand and I have small hands.
Anyone else returning the phone?

My G2 replaced my G Pro on Monday, and not a single thing I miss about my G Pro, and I loved that phone. My G2 screen beats the heck outta my g pro! Speed isn't even in the same class at all! Maybe u got a lemon?

Damn!
I keep looking at the G2 and G Pro...
You just made it that much harder for me to decide... But in 1 hour I have to have my mind made up...
DAMN!

No comparison. Get the G2, way better than the Pro.

Funny we were playing with some G Pro's yesterday at work along side my G2 and getting everyone's opinion between the two.
The G Pro's screen is definitely beautiful, I would say very comparable to the G2. I say they are both on the same level quality wise. I want the G Pro's blueberry background picture btw, it really makes the screen pop. At this PPI density (400 vs 441 I think?) it's hard to tell between the two, they are both exceptionally sharp and bright.
Really like the color notification on the G Pro's home button, very nifty. Love the removable back cover, expandable memory and removable battery.
Speed wise they both feel similar in daily use but I did notice a few places where the G Pro would stutter and lag a bit where the G2 would rip through it. I also noticed a few areas where the G Pro's software seemed more polish, like the lockscreen. On the G2 if you unlock it real fast sometimes the screen swipe effect doesn't render the unlock animation correctly(just shows a black blob), no such problems with the G Pro, I'm sure LG would iron it out in some software updates. Camera wise the G2 definitely took the better pictures. Sound quality wise the G Pro is definitely louder than the G2.
As far as I can tell, the G Pro is definitely an awesome device and I can see if you own one there isn't much of a compelling reason to upgrade to a G2 unless you like a slighter faster experience, better camera, and smaller form factor.

G Pro camera sucks?

To me the G2 is too small.
Im looking for a phablet. I dont want a phone.
Thats the only reason I want the Pro over the G2.
If the G2 was just a bit bigger.
My hands are huge, I need a phablet.
I would be happy with the Galaxy Mega but its not even rootable.

Galaxy Mega Sucks :/ The Screen is terrible such a low resouliton smaller than than the 4.7inch HTC One screen.. And its a low end device seems slow to me with nothing at all installed.

I have both (hi hyelton), and there's a fine line between both of them. Matter of fact, the only determining factor would be the size - either you want a phablet or a 'phone'.
Beyond that, they're nearly alike.

Well I think if it had regular volume and power buttons I think I would take it! I think thats why I dont like it is the way Im having to hold it

why you dhont buy galaxy note 3?

The g pro's annoying hardware buttons. Especially the recessed home button. It was always tool hard to press. I could never get used to the back button being on the left side.... The ability on the g2 to switch the button layout up was genius in my opinion...

Jumbo phones
I think that cell phones in history have taken a weird turn - started out like holding a brick to your face, then they got smaller and smaller, but now all the high end phones are jumbo phones.
Not much you can do when it's packing a quad core processor, etc.
Honestly I think my LGOG is the largest I'd go. SG3 maybe is easier to hold, but is taller. I really like iPhone 5 form factor, but screen too narrow.
I went to local ATTs and played with each until I was sure.
If you told me I would be using 4.7 inch back when I had my iPhone I wouldn't believe you

I can't go smaller now, but my jean's pockets are about maxed out with the OG. I'd go bigger, but I'd need jeans with deeper pockets, ha ha.
I had the Inspire for a long time and loved the size of the screen.
After I got the OG, I was like, Damn that's small..
This is pretty perfect. Other phones too massive for me.
As far as my normal everyday phone use goes, I'm maxed out with the OG. Honestly, it's mainly because I can't fit anything bigger in my pocket without worrying I'll snap it in half. I have and old Galaxy Tab that I love for watching movies, reading, etc when waiting in line somewhere. And a Xoom for certain situations at work

3.7..? Did you mean 4.7 at all?
If not, what phone do you have lol. And what made you come here if you're fine with it? :x
my nex7 fits in my pocket......
I moved from a Samsung Captivate to the LGOG. I "tolerate" the LGOG size for the features and better screen, though I prefer the Captivate for pocketability. I wouldn't go any bigger than the LGOG regardless of features.
I think its 4.7' for me. I don't see a reason for any bigger really. I have a tablet, a laptop, and a 55 inch TV so if I ever need a bigger screen, I have it.
Nexus One
The 3.7 inch screen on the Nexus One was personally my favorite size.
Optimus G is the biggest I'm willing to go. I can't see myself going any bigger.
Don't think I can handle anything bigger than the LGOG E970 due to arthritic fingers. This phone size is still comfortable even though I use 2 hands a lot. Love the screen size due to eyesight, etc. I have 7", 8.9", & 10" screen tablets for bigger screen needs.
With smartphones, started off with 4", then went to 4.3", then to this LG. No bigger for me.

I jumped from an iPhone 4 to our device and I still don't believe how comfortable I am with such a larger size. That said, I absolutely love it and wouldn't even trade for the Nexus 4 at this point!
To answer the original question, I'd say the largest I'd go is probably around 5 inches, maybe 5.5 if I had a chance to hold it before I bought it. I have huge hands, and so it's more a question of what will fit in my pocket!
Sent from my LG Optimus G - I can't believe it's not Project Butter!
I have to say 4.5". I love the LGOG but I think it is just a tad bit too big. Maybe I wouldn't notice it, if the back button wasn't so far away. But it's barely one-handable.

It's so cheap on att and only $50 on wireless amazon currently. It comes with all the top specs you can find today, excluding the upcoming 1080p devices. However, I'm getting mixed reviews from websites such as amazon and phonearena.

Pros: screen, best processor, micro SD slot, everything else I don't list as a con
Con: ..... I don't really consider these things bad at all but they are not the best. Battery is good for me. Camera takes good pictures for a smartphone. Its overheated like three times not really a big deal and I've had it since the beginning of December when I bought it for 200$
The combination of the amazing processor, plentiful ram, display( quality and size) , and the inclusion of a micro sd are its main points.
Yes this phone is highly underated and cheaper and still the phone i would go out and purchase today

Well in my opinion it's the most underrated phone on the market. Fast, well designed very mild LG skin(I use Nova so that takes care of that for me) and a nice sleek design even though I have it cased up due to work.
This is the third LG phone I've owned and the best device by them by far. Although I liked the other two I owned. Coming from the HTC One X and I don't miss that phone at all, nice device but dev unfriendly and HTC just isn't my thimg with their horrible Sense junk.
Buy it for the price you won't regret it imo. The dev community is a nice solid group as well.

Well I personally haven't had the overheating issue and like I said I rock a case because of work. Then again even though I have overclocked ever other phone I've owned, I just don't see a need to with this phone. I've also noticed very few people with the issue. If it was an epidemic I'm sure I would have noticed more since I seem to practically live on XDA, lol. Between here and the Note 10.1, One X and Atrix HD forums.
What's annoying about the phone is that sometimes you cannot put the brightness all the way up. Also camera is not so hot. Great phone overall and happy i have it (first android phone). With decent use my phone lasts about 10-12 hours.
If you have a decent phone right now I would just be patient and see if you like any of the 5 inch 1080p phones coming out (and possibly Galaxy S4). The screen "should" be superior, we won't know until we see it in hand comparing but another thing would be that the new phones will have a bigger battery (optimus pro g if in the USA will have a 3300 battery). If you are fine rooting etc than this phone will be fine but if not maybe the newer phones would be best as it would come with Jelly Bean and more than likely come out with 1-2 more updates (just pure speculation on my part)...whereas this phone will prob get Jelly Bean and that is it- however JB or not this phone runs very smooth and quick on ICS.
If you decide on this phone you will definitely be happy with it, especially at 50 bucks! Hell the Optimus G for Sprint is buy one get one free!
I think one of the reasons this phone is so far under the radar is due to the Nexus 4 stealing it's thunder. The OG and N4 have all the same "guts" but the N4 gets all the press due to having "pure android" and being first in line for all OS updates. That is all well and good, but I couldn't stomach being restricted to 16GB (11 usable) of storage. Not when I can buy a 64GB microSD card for only $40 and store all my media that I like to have on hand. Don't trust the cloud...
The OG also has LTE. That's not important to me since I'm on a Straight Talk plan, but it is a nice bonus feature for most people.
So as long as you're comfortable waiting for the devs here to keep you on the latest and greatest software, this phone IMHO is better than the Nexus 4, which most reviewers are in love with.
Thanks for the great feedback everyone. I was indeed comparing this to the Nexus 4, but this has LTE and N4 does not. However, i was also debating whether or not i wanted to wait for the 5 inch 1080ps instead because well, I like a big screen.

My personal opinion is that the phones are getting too big. I played around with the Note and Note 2 to get a feel for the size, and I just didn't care for it. I need a phone. Not a phablet and that's what I see it turning into at that size.
I agree. Phones are getting way too large, the Note and Note 2 are way too large for my taste and hands for that matter. I have a Note 10.1 tablet and love it so why do I need a bigger phone? Just my opinion as I know phablet users who love it.

Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Only real complaints I have are the speaker volume (fixed with the Sony enhancement) and the camera isn't that great (which doesn't bother me too much).
Also, the lack of updates. It doesn't effect me since I'm a flashoholic and will flash ROMs anyway, but still... It's more the principle of the matter. LG sucks so much with the updating and this phone should have had JB upon release.
What ever, I want AOKP and CM anyway!

Yeah I do like larger phones. My brother has a Note 2, and upon playing with it I already know its the perfect size. However, I have yet to get the Note 2 because of its price and me being a fairly smaller guy, I'm afraid the Note 2 will be indeed too large for my skinny pockets. Its definitely underrated. There isnt any major marketing of this phone, and to be honest people dont really trust LG because of the lack of support and updates. But they did a terrific job with the optimus g, every review that i read/watch praises this phone, how crazy fast it is. Now lg needs to support it and build some momentum to carry it over the optimus g pro.

The 5.5" screen is way too big for me. However I like the other changes they made with it (like the faster processor, better battery, etc). The higher PPI doesn't bother me too much, I can't see the pixels in this display anyways.
I heard that its supposed to compete with Note 2 not the S3 because of the 5.5 inch display, But I cant stand a screen that size,If that was the case i wouldve purchased the note 2

The Pro is a Note 2 competitor, not an s3 competitor. The s4 will likely combine the note and the s series, according to rumor, but the Pro and OG will still be viable. IMHO, anything beyond 5" is too big. And anything below 4.3 is too small.

The Moto G is a low budget phone with a quad core processor and no LTE with a 5 MP cam with flash using the latest android.
It has its ups and downs.

Ic. I guess I just didn't know enough about that phone. I was fooled by their personalization color case commercials

Bought a G2 in October a few weeks after launch - great phone but I always change phones after about 6 months. Normally I'd have waited until after Mobile World Congress to sell but this was such a good deal for a nice device that I jumped a bit early. Now I have a phone I can tolerate for a little bit along with plenty of cash for the next big thing. Maybe the G2 Pro or something.
The lg g flex it looks pretty sick. I wonder what iPhone people feel since they always change to the same phone
I am going to buy g3, pro 2, and the flex to see which of the 3 I will like the best. Then I'll have 2 phones for sale. I currently have a g2, of and the og pro. As far as lg products are concerned I didnt like the s4 so I sold it. Phones are getting cheaper for lg compared to Samsung. Also I got a 3.00 pay raise so these new phones got affordable.

Well as it stands I currently have the e970/e980 and the g2. I will buy the other 3 when they are out and about. I will sell my g pro and g2. The e970 has a cracked digitizer up in the corner but works fine. I mill through phones very fast. Wife gets annoyed when I buy extra phones for Pandora or media remotes. So I often have 1-2 of each device.

I have an e970, been looking around for a g2 for a while now. It may be a few more months until g flex and whatever else makes it out. It'll be cool if we can make out a deal on the g2 when the time comes around
edit: didnt realize G Flex is out already

I paid the 150 and the lg g is a great phone. There isn't anything that really is making me switch. Yeah I love bigger screens but I am OK with that size. I was gonna get a moto g. But new for a lg g 150 or even 200 is the much much better deal. The lg g is a better phone. The moto g is great but for the same price u or less get the better lg g. Just not much cases for the G version from att.

I can't make up my mind between the moto g and Optimus g. Which has the better camera? Which has more bloatware?

Go with the lg og you wont be disappointed. The moto g is a nice phone but is a downgrade in comparison to the og with aosp or stock. You can always root then debloat stock and have the lg goodies. Plus 2gb of ram over the motog's 1gb. 8mp camera(lg) vs 5mp camera(moto). Plus lte on the lg optimus g and sd expansion etc etc.....

Well the lg g has an 8 mega camera. A better front camera a better processor a better screen not by much but it is better and so what bitter. The lg g does has more bloatware but u can easily root it and put an cm11 ROM or so on it. U get a better speced phone with the lg g in comparison to the moto g. And it is also cheaper then the moto g. Remember the moto g is a phone made as an beginner smartphone the lg g was a flagship device and made for being a high end phone. So there is no question the lg g is better. But the moto g is a great phone but u get the lg g for a insane low price and better specs. And also has the lg g LTE and NFC what the moto g does not have.

The way I see it other than the android version lo og out classes moto g in every way... just sayin. Also the lg og may feel like it gets hot but its the fact it has a glass back. Makes the device feel hotter than most devices.

G2 Family.

Took me 2 months but I convinced my wife and my 15 year old that the G2 was the way to go. So there are now 3 of them in our house now lol.

Ya I hate everything Apple lol. That's what my family used also until recently. It's an adjustment for them coming off ios but for the better for sure.

It's hard to convince people away from Apple and Samsung. Can't understand how people can't like the G2...although it's not perfect, it's pure amazing.

Ya only way I'll trade this out will be for the G3. Rumored 8 core processor and 3 gig ram. I'm already sold lol. Slightly larger screen also.
Just hope they refine the stock firmware.

It all comes down to marketing. Samsung did a good job in this & LG didn't. A waste that an amazing phone like this never given a chance to fight.

Ya I agree with that. But that actually makes the G2 even more of a major contender in my eyes because it's popularity is still growing regardless.
Couple that with Samsung's basically failed watch campanion promotions. And the rumored improvements to come on the G3. And I think LG has the foundation for an epic device long term. As long as they clean up the software.

Yep pretty sexy. No shiny back plate to lol. Should give the Note 3 a run for its money. Even though I think the G2 has it beat in every aspect except screen size.

Screen size is already going a little too far. Plz stop asking for bigger screens
I wish flagships stop at 5 inch screen and leave the bigger size for phablets.

I agree with that also. The screen is plenty big. If I want a bigger screen I'll just use a 7/10 inch tablet. Bigger screen on a phone just isn't practical in my opinion and intrusive in most cases.

My dad has a G Flex and my mom has a Nexus 5 so in a way we're sort of a G2 family.
But then my sister's the black sheep with a Moto X.

Have you tried out the Vutalk feature yet? It seems cool/fun but I don't know anyone else with an LG phone, unfortunately, so I can't test it out myself.
Other than the slippery back, easy-to-scratch screen, mediocre speakers, and lack of cute aftermarket cases, I LOVE the G2. The Knock On feature and battery life are so damn amazing. Every phone should implement Knock On!
I have super high expectations for the G3 after being wowed by so many of the G2's features. The "delightful discoveries" page is great!

I have had the G2 since mid December. I gave my wife my old S2 skyrocket and sold a HTC one x I used as well. She loves my g2 and how stable it is..I offered to buy her a Optimus G or G pro off eBay but I can't get her off her skyrocket. She said when she needs another phone she will for sure want a lg because of the UI.

We bought G2's the day after it launched in Canada. And 1 S4 which is being used as a toy by my youngest. I have a MacBook which I love, and an iPhone 4 which I loved. I was all set on getting the entire family on iPhones by the end of last year. And then the unthinkable happened: at my daughter's request I started looking at Androids. At first I was 100% opposed. But Apple's lacklustre iPhone 5x announcement and their refusal to make a bigger screen phone sold me on Android. And now I would laugh in the face of any offer to switch back to iPhone. The G2 has been the best phone on the market since it came out.

Ya family is for sure not regretting switching from iPhone to the G2. I'm just hoping the G3 is going to live up to the rumors or exceed them. I really don't plan on switching phone brands in the future. Or is anyone in our house lol.

My last two phones were Samsung...never again. I went to get my G2 on Friday, the Verizon store was sold out and so were all the stores in the area. The sales rep ( a family friend) just ordered it online for me and should arrive Monday.
$99 for a 32 gig phone with these monster specs? Yes please!
