[Q] Forgot to backup original rom... - AT&T HTC One (M7)

So I am stupid, and after rooting my phone, I forgot to back up my stock rom before flashing a custom rom. Is there anything I can do but be depressed?

You dont need to be depressed, if the flash was successful then what are you worried about?

I can't revert back to stock

Get one of the RUU's for the phone. Either 1.26.502.12 or 1.26.502.15. There isn't any for 1.26.502.10 (original shipped AT&T rom).

I actually had the 1.26.502.15 RUU, but I'm not entirely sure how to use it.

I mean, I know the whole "relock bootloader and go to fastboot and run the RUU on your computer" stuff, but the RUU does nothing when I try to run it

I actually just did a clean install of Windows on my computer, and re-downloaded the RUU (1.26.502.15) and ran it, and it said "Installscript Setup Launcher has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem." (Which we all know is bull, Windows sucks at that,..) So, is this stopping working because I don't have my phone locked and on fastboot RIGHT NOW? Because I don't want to lock it just to have it say the same thing.

It will fail of you don't have a locked bootloader that's for sure and will also not work of you're not in fastboot mode afaik but I don't know if you should be getting that.

[Q] S-OFF with HBOOT 1.08.0000

When I saw the news for the HTC Thunderbolt ICS update finaly out I got so excited, I returned my phone to stock, ran the update, and was happy... not thinking "what if they update the HBOOT"...well THEY DID. Stupid me for not waiting one more day for the rooted release! So now Im unable to acheive S-OFF as my HBOOT is now 1.08.0000.
Perhaps its too soon to be asking this, but is there a way to S-OFF the new HBOOT?
Nope you're Sol until an exploit is found. Oh and there is an if there too because I don't know how much interest there will be in finding an exploit for an old device.

Well if anything came out of this, we now know for certain the results of accepting the update and hopefully warn others. I have to take this phone into best buy for repairs, and seeing as I already did this once and they just gave me a (defective) refurbished model, they most likely will do it again.
HBroot off
I have been able to get S-off via HTCdev after I requested the code to unlock the bootloader. I am stuck now with root and I would love to know if somebody knows how to push the root onto the ICS stock rom?

Yes but the tool (Thunderbolt tool) does not handle HBoot 1.08 at the moment. I wish it would because this would solve my problem
Find the thread that has the fastboot flash able form of cwm and then get back to me. I'm thinking that the root method may be different now though so I'm worried an ordinary version of superuser won't work.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I decided to take the plunge, and perform the OTA, after that hopped over to HTCDev to get the bootloader unlock to root. Flashed the handy dandy CWM recovery from fastboot, and rebooted into recovery. Flashed the SuperUser package. Guess What? No ROOT.

I did a fastboot and flashed frev3vo, and ran adb shell.....although I wasn't root at the prompt, I was able to su root from adb shell, but I don't know at this point how to get back to root. I probably can't load an RUU either cause I lost S-OFF.

Problem Solved. I had been installing the superuser.zip package to get root, but the SuperSU solved my problem, now I just have to get S-OFF again at some point, but for now I am happy root!!!! That Fixed IT

Downgrade from 1.27.531.11 to 1.27.531.8 and S-OFF available

In my search and attempt to find a method to downgrade 1.27.531.11 firmware and successfully run revone for S-OFF, I found it.

When you run an RUU the bootloader has to be locked. You can always unlock it again. The HTC One toolkits make it really easy. Just save your email with the unlock.bin

i was in the same boat... make sure you are running the "ARUWizard" from the extracted folder and not the zip file. also do "fastboot reboot-bootloader" without the quotations. also update your drivers just to make sure. i got mine from hasoon's toolkit

That is correct, being S-On prevents that, you would need to S-OFF to downgrade.
Why back to 3.14.605.12? Is there a problem with the global leak you are currently using? The 4.3.605.2 ROM is stock, just not officially supported by Verizon.

There is nothing "wrong" with the Windows version, I have used it several times. The first time I tried it it took a good 10 times to get the timing down though, and the last two times I used it on phones with 4.3.605.x stock ROMs I have to run it a few times to get everything to shake out, it would error out, the phone would get stuck in HBoot, or something, and I would have to reboot and start over. The Windows version can be flaky, go to the Ubuntu version and try again... Make sure you watch some of the Youtube videos on going S-OFF on the the Rezound, they can help if you are doing it for the first time, the wire trick is the critical part, the timing has to be just right.

[Q] HTC Droid dna bricked

If it is still S-on, I'm pretty sure it's darn near impossible to really brick a DNA. How about some more details? How'd you get into this predicament? What did you do that caused the alleged brick? What have you tried to fix it?

Hi everyone,
I have received a OTA update for my one max the other day for sense 6.
It keeps failing. My bootloader has been unlocked and relocked. Could this be why it keeps failing? I'm still on the stock recovery , unrooted.

I did, and I still got the same error. "No such file or directory"
I must be getting the path wrong. It says checking system, data/preload/tunein.apk
I think maybe I need to create that file on the system folder, but it's not visible from my pc and I won't save on my phone, (I think because I don't have root)

Your computer wont be able to see system folder/files. You need a root browser from play store to do the trick for you. You need to create a preload folder un System/data using root browser. I believe you need to have root access in order to do these steps and for this you'll need a unlocked bootloader, custom recovery and super user flashed.

Thanks mate, I have unlocked, installed custom recovery and SU.
Now I think I will have to go back to the stock recovery for the OTA to go through. How do I work out which stock recovery I need?

Thanks heaps for your help farazhassankhan!:good::good::good:
I have finally got this to work. I am on stock sense 6 rom.
The one step I had to do different was put the three missing files in \data\preload instead of \system\data\preload
Now if only I could S-OFF.....

Hi, thanks again for your previous help!
I'm still battling away with this thing trying to get S-OFF so I can relock bootloader and get my finger print scanner working.
Firewater and rumrunner don't seem to work, they both say I need a different (unsecured) kernal. I've tried flashing one, and almost bricked my phone......
Not sure where to go from here?
Any suggestions would be awesome.

Like I said earlier, I did S-Off when I was on 2.47 hboot and I didn't need any Insecure Kernel. I am not sure if 2.49 would require an insecure kernel to S-Off with fire water.
I will read that forum for you to find out if you would need an Insecure Kernel and will let you know. In the mean time you keep searching as well my friend.

I have a plan that I am going to try this morning. I will flash CM11 then try and run firewater. I'll let you know how I go.

I'm all good now. Once I flashed CM11 firewater worked! Then I restored a back up of stock sense 6 and relocked my bootloader using scottys method, now i have my working finger print reader back.
Thanks again for you help.
