Please help thanks,.. SIM card contacts - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hello Members, I've just starting to get to grips with the XZU. I've also done various Google searches on the info I'm looking for so help would be great thanks.
The problem is I'd like to keep my contacts on the SIM card, and also save them by default to the SIM card, trouble is, if I go to my contacts the only option I can see is to copy them to the phone, if I go to the SMS app and want to add a recipient none of my contacts are shown but if someone calls they appear in the call log with there contact name, so the phone is seeing my contacts in the SIM card.
So all I'd like is to continue to save new contacts to the SIM card, but also have the XZU get it's contact list from the SIM card.
Help would really be great as I'm lost to now know all my numbers (stupid I know).
Regards
Livo

Just to report regarding my post, the answer is 'no', the contacts have to be imported to the phone, this has come from Sony direct, although when the time comes any new contacts should be able to be exported back to the SIM card for future use.
Regards

I think it is an android limitation... I tried on my Galaxy Note (custom JB rom) and my old xperia x10 (custom GB rom).. both of them dont have export to sim option...
Maybe because with the current capabilities of phones, manufacturers dont see the need of saving contacts to SIM anymore...? :what:

Already Set to Phone Memory, But whenever am saving the new contacts it saves in Google. Don,t know why
I know what you mean, yeh. It's one of those glitches I think. My phone memory/sim memory numbers change all the time when I look in there, especially if I have to take the sim out. I think positioning of the sim is a factor too

PROBLEM Solved.
I already Set the Contacts option to Phone Memeory.
But Whenever you are trying to save a new contact, after the name option there is option of of Google, Phone and Sim. So evertime you have to select where you wanna want to save.

Shortcuts for direct call

Hello,i wanted to set up my most called contacts as shorcuts on the home screen on my Evo,but when i chose shorcut>direct call it gives me only people with phone numbers imported from my facebook account. Is there a way to give me the contacts from my sim card only so i choose among them.I tried with people widget, but in all groups it gives me to choose from contacts from my gmail acc, only in the frequent group displayed me the contacts from my sim card, since they were the ones i called mostly.
So how do i get the phones on my screen from the sim card as shorcut?-or i should use another app from the android market.
P.S. In people i've set the options to show me only contacts from sim card and phone memory.

Try this.... Go to your "people" app and open it. Click the phonebook tab at the top, it'll let you choose which contacts to show. That's how it works on the Rom I use, (mikrunny 3.5 sense) might be different on yours. Hope this helps.
This is what to show in people app,in my case when i pick address book ,yeah i see only people from sim card. But i wonder why when i try to add the contacts as shortcut dials,i see only the ones from facebook.
is there anyone who tried to make such speed dials and experienced such difficulties?
P.s. Anyway thanks for the try

Gear S (Standalone) - Add contact

Hi all
Just got the Gear S, do not own a Samsung Phone, using it standalone (for now).
Anyone figured out how to add contacts to the watch?
I select "Contacts" from the menu. All that is happening is the spinning animation with the text "Syncing contacts". I can't add a contact from the message app or the call log either.
I dont want to go back to memorize numbers again.
edit1: tried to add some contacts to SIM card. Not picked up by the watch.
edit2: added some contacts to SIM card. They do appare on incoming calls, and appares in phone application when searching in the dialer.
You can't. Majority of the functions of this watch requires a Samsung phone. The only thing you can do is make or receive calls, send or receive SMS. That's about it. Some built-in apps may work (weather, HERE) to certain extent. Most apps won't without a phone.

Yepp, unpaired and alone this thing is dumber than a dumbphone. Not a problem for me actualy, I have a dual sim phone, so I just dump all the contacts to the sim card. I can see who's calling me and search my name in the dialer. The "contact" homescreen does not work, but that is fine by me.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to run the gear s as stand alone and getting my contacts to appear was the main issue holding me back. I was happy to discover the trick about activating it without a Samsung phone and your contact trick might be all I need.
I carry two phones - work and private. My private phone is a phablet that I love (Nokia 1520) which I do all my emailing and browsing on. My work phone is just for calls and sms so the smaller the better (carrying two phones is a pain especially one being a phablet), but I need my contacts to sync via my exchange account so I use a small smartphone (Nokia 800). I'm hoping I can go Nokia 1520 and gear s stand alone using the tricks posted here.
The gear s seems like a perfect solution - I actually need the two phone numbers (and, yes I have thought about a dual sim phone but there are issues with that scenario). Although, I am suspecting that as much as I love my 1520 I might end up getting a Note 4 to make it all more convenient, but I just hate the thought of android, sorry.
My SIM contacts automatically shown in Gear. But i want to add new contacts. Is that not possible?

I think Samsung may have out-of-the-box disabled that feature simply for that reason-- to encourage users to have to use it with a phone. However, on the Tizen Developer website they list the source code for a simple contact manager (ah! New user, can't post links yet... just Google the Tizen SDK) that is able to interface the contacts API. This should be pretty simple/straight forward to compile and implement for the watch with the SDK.
I haven't quite made a decision about whether to purchase the S, or if I had more time at the moment, I'd do it. However, my point being the contact restriction I believe is only concerned with the built in contact app... I see no reason why another app should not be able to access it and thus get around the apparent limitation.

Adding contacts to your Gear S2
You can add contacts. I just did it. You have to log into your online account via your cell phone provider.

[Q] How do you manage numbered contacts from different services ?

Hi everybody!
Simply put: how to backup only contacts with numbers to safe place ? Then the long story....
Im using stock 4.4.2 kitkat with galaxy s4+ and it seems impossible to seemly superior smartphone to give me an option to backup/organize/merge.. (you get the point contacts with phone numbers to one safe location, i.e memory card, sim card, or even phones own memory. So now I have contacts from sim, gmail, outlook, phone memory and if someone these fails, I lose the number if I dont give them to organization which is required to give them to terrorists, that itself gives you no reason whatsoever to trust big clouds in personal matters. Even if the servers and business were in EU, that would make too much a hassle to always backup and restore hundreds of contacts overrided many times each other by different services and many times copied themselves, so you in the end you have 5 Joe Duffs in your contact list with same number
Moreover, by default gmail (I think) put obsolete email-contacts to place(my contact list), where should be only real people, with real numbers and selected by me. Not cool.
This is somewhat frustating situation and not only because of the problem itself, if you managed to read through my rage hope i just missed something and you got the point since number by number copying is something you did even before cellphones and simcards.
Ps. I only found one solution earlier by googling and it was "merge contacts" but I dont have that option.
And up!
cannot believe that ppl just keep their numbers in whatever places

[QUESTION] Please suggest a good dual-SIM contacts app

Dear Experts,
I just got a dual SIM phone, but I am very disappointed by the contacts apps for dual SIM phones...
I am looking for an app, that will show the contacts,
stored in each SIM card IN A SEPARATE TAB
And it shall show the name and the number below.
Right next to it, there shall be a button, which allows me to call that contact.
The closest I found is SIM contacts manager, but the design is terribly ugly - all red and even the green button is red !!! And the dialer is really stupid, no letters for quick search - terrible !!
What I need is something like RocketDial but with two tabs for each SIM card...
Many thanks in advance !!
