[Q] [SlimBean 4.3] Add own Battery Icons to Settings - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I flashed the Sabermod version of SlimBean a few days ago. It is awesome, but there was one thing bothering me: None of the Icons you can choose (in Settings -> Interface -> Statusbar -> Battery Icon Style) pleased me. So I wanted to add other Icons to the menu. So I extracted the frameworks-res.apk, Settings.apk, SystemUI.apk and some more files and searched where this menu gets it's themes. The only thing I found after hours of investigating are the Icons you get, when you just select Icon in the Settings. I replaced those with my own and it worked, but I have two problems with this.
1. The default Icon does not support 1% steps (which the other selectable Icons do)
2. It doesn't complie with the idea behind this menu
Does anyone know how this menu works and where I can add my ressources? Or at least where the other options in the menu are stored? I searched the whole Rom by now. :crying:
Cheers,
Darky
PS: This was supposed to go in the developer thread for this Rom, but as a new user I could not post there :/ .

I'm not sure how to change it to *exactly* the icon you want (custom icons), I've never done it. What you can do is look in the themes and apps section, there's mods to flash a different battery icon. Should be plenty which are compatible.
Sent from a galaxy far, far away

I just found it in the source code:
github.com/SlimRoms/frameworks_base/blob/8c3428ebc393c112bef6ff3ab845ab61942de784/packages/SystemUI/src/com/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/CircleBattery.java
Unfortunately it's hardcoded. In the same package is a BatteryBarController.java which holds constants for each of the options. So without modifying and recompiling/flashing the whole Rom it is not possible as far as I understand it.
I will try one of these BatteryMods to get the 1% steps and modify SystemUI.
Edit: I just modified the SystemUI.apk myself to get the 1% steps. The files to modify are in /res/drawable: stat_sys_battery.xml and stat_sys_battery_charge.xml.
It is enough to just add steps from 0 to 100 in those files and add the images under res/drawable-hdpi.
The input can be produced easily with a pythonscript like this.
Code:
#!/usr/bin/env python3.3
def main():
for i in range(101):
#for stat_sys_battery.xml remove 'sys_battery_charge_anim'
print (' <item android:drawable="@drawable/stat_sys_battery_charge_anim',i,'" android:maxLevel="',i,'" />',sep='')
if __name__ == "__main__":
main()
Cheers,
Darky

Change in v6.3
- Someone when using the new method instead of V6.2 theme, it do not work, but it work on v6.1, so in this version I've added the old method for mode 1 theme like v6.1, of course it was much more optimal, but it is recommended to use multi-mode is the default theme for a more optimal, multi-mode default theme is still the method used on version v6.2,
- different for each theme. when you checked the items, and then set the theme, it will save the state mark of theme packs and reload this status for next time is to use a theme that, with the new theme it defaults to checked all
- Add 1 functions to make and fix themes . If CM theme not displayed in the list, please enable mode displays all applications and choose it from list , then click Make and fix theme , in this mode I 've added some structure 1 automatic correction for the theme , such as edit file name is not capitalized , it will automatically switch to often .
There are 2 modes to make and fix in the theme options :
- Default is automatically all process make and fix theme :
All process:
1. Copy theme to sdcard/hkthememanager folder and Decompile it
2. Modify with: Replace res folder from Theme choosed decompiled to Sample folder decompiled in sdcard/hkthememanager. Try auto fix some error, make new Androidmanifest.xml and redirections.xml

- The development mode . You can execute the step -by-step process on , This is useful when the theme at fault and should intervene to fix it before doing the next step . (folder for work: sdcard/hkthememanager)
- The options applications that have added:
+ Optional multi- mode or single- theme theme as mentioned above
+ Option automatic mode or step by step in make and fix themes
+ Options screen always on (wake lock) when make and fix a theme , it is good if the theme is the process of making , sleeping system , and the process stops
+ Options notified by vibration , message , tone for error report or when completed reports
Speed theme of creating and editing process can take up to 3-15 minutes depending on :
- Speed Phone
- Size theme
===============
To use this function, we need to use apktool on android:
<b>Download at:<b>
https://apktool.googlecode.com/files/apktool4.4_armhf.zip
download it and extract it to sdcard, so that the path is:
sdcard / apktool / jvm.tar
please credit to [email protected]
I have used this project to create option make and fix theme , of course I have improved it:
By default, it creates frameworks (apktool if) with 1 framework poor and I have often have problems when decompile themes error, I then modified my app, using the file system / framework / framework-res .apk in phone system to use, of course it is complete and error problem when decompile theme has disappeared
Changes in v6.2:
- more optimal and can use heavier themes
- remove multiple theme options, instead multi-mode theme, multi-theme mode if you only use one theme, it will same one theme mode in old version
- remove automatically search and downloaded theme when the application starts, it automatically search only the first use, then it will automatically save and reload results in the following opening times, to update the new theme select Refresh it
Changes in v6.1:
- Completing the optimal speed for 2 mode of multi-mode and 1 theme, it can faster 50-100ms than v6.0;
Changes in v6.0:
- Has been optimized and the speed increased significantly.
- Use 2 methods to change the theme, A method for optimal speed and fastest mode instead of using one theme. When using multi-mode theme, even though the optimal speed has improved significantly, however compared to the method used to replace one theme it is still slower than 100-300ms depending on the size of the used themes. This is easy to understand when I have to use a lot of loops and conditional control over the selection and installation of multiple simultaneous themes. I will try to improve this for the most perfect possible with later versions. Because of this, if you do not have the need to use multiple themes, I recommend using one theme mode . It should not be too worried about this when in the second mode will increase the speed and stability
Change in v5.2
-With the version of this v5.2 it will fix the one the problem Fatal at version v5.1, which I have detected and quick fix it
at version v5.1, you will not be changed items applications if you do not choose add change android (System framework)
-I have detected a loop excess, i have removed it, i think it is better, more optimal,
Change in v5.1
+ Fix problems not full change of theme icon on v5.0
+ Improves the speed , I think it's a little more flashy v4.0 but of course not comparable as v5.0
+ Adjust some logic in changing the regime has chosen theme for theme packages the same time , this course is not recommended
+ Added option to display all the data or system applications ( Relationship with search options :data , system search) .
I do not recommend for this finding , since the mechanism to find the current theme is very stable and accurate . If there are themes you can not see in the list , then I think your theme is the problem of its activities ( for error or because of incompatible systems ) . It resulted in the system not able to read and receive information resource icon and the whole of it , then the system will display an app 's icon to the default error icon . so HK Theme Manager will not be able to read and get information resource for the theme of change too
Change in v5.0
- fix lag when change theme, reboot faster,... if you are slow, i think your theme is too heavy.
- Add settings options
+ replace with layout, default is not use, it will better if you do not use it when change theme, unless you are sure to replace this layout for your theme is fine
+ add menu support change multi theme, so now you can use multi items in multi theme combined for change
+ it can update change without reboot except when change framework (android) it will quick reboot.
update v4.0, change log
- In this new version I updated to add some new functions
+ Search options only on data or system , or both if both are selected . Default search just with the theme installed on the data , so the search time was much quicker
+ Is the default search with the theme contains redirections.xml , however some CM theme have not it and we can not find it in list theme. So a new option in the search options to try search with all that theme have not redirections.xml, the choice this will take more time searching
+ A new additional functions compared to version v3.0 . This version allows you to select the components to replace , meaning that for each theme will allow alternative image updates , icons on the different applications , with this option you can customize it for replacement with each application instead of updating all of the components and the whole Theme
+ Try replacing with the support framework : twframework - res.apk . I can not yet tried it , I need a response from you
update v 3.0, change log
- change method get theme file, and it can show and list theme that have not xml/redirections.xml (for any CM theme with meta data redirections)
- replace icon with new method with without redirections.xml, or with redirections.xml, you only need checked at : Set theme with use redirections.xml file?
- add view preview image for CM theme
- add button make Redirections.xml file, so if your theme have not redirections.xml, you can make it and add to your theme if you need. file make will in sdcard
- change interface of my app.

Any web for cm themes ? ?

Whoa!! Looks amazing!!! i'll check it out...
btw, thanks!! :good:
Hey man, great stuff! I have a small problem though. Some CM themes (actually most of them) make my Nexus 4 (stock ROM) slower. For example, try applying a theme and then open 'Apps' under Settings. The list of apps take a long time to load.. Some of the themes that give this behavior are Alloy Blue, Simplex Blue, etc..
Thanks man! By the way, i don't mean any disrespect to the developers of the themes i mentioned above..
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanx Man for your work
Thank you man for your help and support.
May I know from where I can download them shown in screenshot shared by you. And basically what kind of themes I can use with this. I tried 2 CM11 Themes from play store but after that settings become very slow and search of installed app in you app also crashed for 3 time and then showed installed app.
i want to install Crimson cobalt theme from play store but is not shown in hk theme manager. (after i did all the steps). What can I do?

I think it is not difficult to find the CM theme, play store, xda forum .... and you can search in google.com.

thank you for test it and have comments to i can devlop it
I think it is probably slower than the theme that is too heavy
I'm still optimizing and developing it , the search method and a method to apply the general theme so I 'm using , if only for configurations with 1 search limited only by the user - permission as xtheme . or recognizing anything beyond information seeking applications mentioned in androidmanifest , it will reduce the inspection process and looking theme , so will quickly make search results more
Maybe I 'll add search options so that it can search faster , or will have other ideas for developing better
Also in theme installation method , I have been studying to optimize for reading objects faster, thus increasing processing speeds and when replacing system theme.

when you installed it, you go to settings> applications. You view icon of it,
If the application icon is the default icon of android bug, I think that your application is defective or it is not compatible SDK for your system, because the system is not able to retrieve information resource to the application icon, so icon error given default by system, and therefore HK theme manager also can not read and obtain its resource
Is there any way to solve this issue? I'm having the same problem the person you quoted has

i don not understand, can you talk detail your problem?
Never mind, am using theme engine much better
Is it possible to redirect smali with this app? If not yet, would it be possible to implement?
Also, it would be great if you added it to the Xposed repo so that it could be installed from within the Xposed Framework app and we would be notified of updates.

Thanks for the effort mate.
Just to ensure can we use any CM theme with this Xposed MOD or is this only support Xtheme apk
This is promising. Unfortunately, the lag it caused for me with applied betterkat cm theme, is just ridiculous.
I've got a couple comments regarding this module. First I'd like to say that it has HUGE potential, just like XThemeEngine. Unfortunately the developer for XThemeEngine seems to have vanished and all development stopped. I'm hoping that doesn't happen again here.
I am currently working on theming my S4 and Note 10.1. I started by creating an XThemeEngine theme, which I am now using with HKThemeManager. I had some big issues with XThemeEngine which unfortunately still exist in HKThemeManager, that I am hoping you can resolve.
Basically, certain things are simply not themeing. There are images in twframework-res.apk, for example, that if I replace manually in the .apk the changes are reflected in the phone/tablet, but if I try to redirect them with XThemeEngine or HKThemeManager they simply don't change. I've been making CM themes for years so I'm not a novice and I know all of my syntax is correct. Also, in certain apps, such as Tasker, the same image will change in some parts of the app and not others. I tested this by creating a CM theme and applied it on a CM ROM - all instances of the image in Tasker changed. If I apply that exact same theme on a non-CM ROM using your HKThemeManager, the image will change in some places and not others.
Is this something you can fix, or is it just a limitation of the Xposed Framework itself?
For the time being I am replacing all images manually and everything is working. The problem with this method is that every time I flash a new ROM or an app I themed is updated I have to manually replace the images again. And since I am themeing my phone and my tablet, I have to do twice the work. It would be a much better solution to be able to use HKThemeManager.
Also, and less importantly, is it possible to allow HKThemeManager to redirect .smali files similar to redirecting images or .xml files? As far as I know, the only way to modify .smali currently is by decompiling and recompiling the apk. If you could somehow allow for redirecting .smali your app would certainly be a HUGE asset to the Android platform.

[APP][ENGINE][2.3.6+][Xposed] Resflux - A powerful and very easy to use per-application theming module.

[APP][ENGINE][2.3.6+][Xposed] Resflux - A powerful and very easy to use per-application theming module.
Resflux
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you want to THEME your phone easily, without learning how to do it?
Then you are in the right place!!!
Resflux is very straight-forward. It's very easy to use. You don't need to learn anything just to get started. All you need is your common sense. Once you launch the application, you will see very big buttons with one-word description of what that button will do.
And I forgot to tell you that Resflux supports Gingerbread 2.3.6 and up! yeah you heard it right!
Just use the ported version of xposed installer for gingerbread users...
What else can I do with Resflux?
Tons! All you need is the idea!
- Theming an app or all of your apps.
- Replacing icon and name of your apps.
- Translating app from one language to another
- Overriding default settings inside frameworl-res.apk, settingsprovider.apk and systemui.apk
- and many more posibilities!
Laboratory
The laboratory is where most things will happen. It is where you start theming resources of a specific package. You can theme as many as packages if you want.
After you have selected the target package, Resflux will redirect you to the Experiment area where you can see five buttons namely "Drawable", "String", "Color", "Boolean" and "Integer" though you can only see their icons.
When you click a tab, the list will be populated with the corresponding resources and their current values are even shown so you can tell if it is what you are looking for and trying to replace.
Drawable Tab
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In the Drawable tab, previews of every drawables are shown and by clicking the selected drawable, you can replace it with a new one.
This is replacement drawable chooser dialog
String Tab
In the String tab, you can take a look at the list of all string resources in an apk. The current value is shown in each string resource and you can replace the value with a new one if you want by clicking it.
Color Tab
In the color tab, all the color resources are listed and the preview of each color is also shown. You can replace it with a new color using the HoloColorPicker dialog.
Boolean Tab
In the boolean tab, you can see all the boolean resources of an apk. Boolean is type where its value is only true or false. You can also change it anytime just like the other resources.
Integer Tab
The integer tab is new in Resflux, since the old Resxploit only supported Drawable, String, Color and Boolean.
Export
If you plan to distribute your work or do a back-up or share it to your friend, then you can export it anytime. You can select which packages you want to export and which are not to be included.
From there, you can also completely, remove all modifications made to a specific package by long-pressing the target package.
Import
If you have exported a mod or got it somewhere and you want to upload it into your Resflux, then all you need to do is to put the zip file inside /sdcard/Resflux. By putting it inside /sdcard/Resflux, Resflux will quickly find it, but you can still leave it in other directories as Resflux will also search the other directories inside your sdcard.

STEP 1: First, open Resflux then click Laboratory.
STEP 2: Next you need to choose the application you want to modify from the list and then click it.
STEP 3: Once you have clicked an application, Resflux will start mapping it's resources, you need to wait until it is finished before you can start.
STEP 4: If the mapping of resources has finished, you can now start changing any resource from the list. They are actually categorized as Drawable(Images), String(Texts), Color, Boolean(Switch) and Integer(Number)
STEP 5: Once you're done, you need to reboot your phone in order for the changes to take effect.
Sample Scripts
Disables Low Battery Warning notification

Scripting
(For themers and programmers)
Apart from the Laboratory where users are provided with user-friendly interface, there is an another way to make modifications and that is by using the scripting feature of Resflux.
Soon, I will be focusing on adding more features to it. One is providing support for layouts. Not the whole layout, but to the components inside defined with an id.
When you export packages mod in Resflux, you will be given a zip file. And when you look inside it, you will actually find atleast a Resflux.ini file. And when you look inside the Resflux.ini file, you will see how Resflux turn everything into series of keys, sections, comments and how they are arranged.
The structure of the Resflux.ini complies with of an INI file as defined here:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/INI_file
From the INI File wiki page, you can learn about which one is a key, section or comment.
From it, you may start studying how to write your own.
If you are a programmer, you may find it very easy to understand on how it works. And you can see that you are like dealing with objects. For now, we only have drawable, string, color, boolean, integer, layout, resflux and ini.
Rules
Resflux have rules in when it comes to syntax, grouping and arrangement.
RULE 1: The Resflux.ini can contain only keys, sections, comments and blank lines(with space or not) and should follow their corresponding syntax and must occupy a line therefore two keys in a single line is not honored.
For comments:
Code:
# [any text here]
; [any text here]
For sections:
Code:
[package.name.here]
For keys:
Code:
object.property_name = value
object.property_name : value
For blank lines:
A an empty line or composed of whitespaces.
If an invalid syntax is found, resflux will return error status 0
RULE 2: All resflux.* must be grouped together and must be placed before sections and any other keys except comments.
When this rule is violated, Resflux will return Error Status 1 during an attempt of importing it.
Rule 3: ]: All ini.* must be grouped together and must be placed after resflux.* and before sections and any other keys except comments.
When violated, it returns error status 2.
Rule 4: Before starting defining a key, you must have atleast defined a section. A section is composed of a opening square bracket "[", followed by the package name of the target app, and then a closing square bracket "]".
For example:
Code:
[com.my.app]
Rule 5: Each key must follow their respective value's format.
For drawable:
it could be a PNG image relative path like:
Code:
drawable.ic_launcher = icon.png
# or it could be also a color hex code:
drawable.ic_launcher = #ffff0000
For color:
color can have a single possible format for its value.
Code:
color.bg_color = #ff0000
For boolean:
boolean can only have two choices, the value could be either true or false.
Code:
boolean.enable_nothing = true
boolean.enable_nothing = false
For string:
string can have any value.
Code:
string.app_name = anything you want!!!
# enclosing value with quotes is also fine and work with all types of keys
string.app_name = "!want you anything"

Thnx for the reminder sir...
I've uploaded it to the Xposed Repo.
I'm also planning to make it open sourced, but I still need to fix some things up. XD
Excelent work.

Has anyone been able to use this with Hangouts at all? It seems to never get past the "Mapping Resources" screen...
EDIT: Maybe I'm just not waiting long enough. Is it normal for it to take more than 10 minutes to map resources for some apps?

It really depends... if the /res dir contents of the apk file is really big for example (more than 1k resources) then it should take some considerable time... and it will also depend on ur phone's processing power...
I tested the framework-res.apk with a quad-core phone(not mine) and it took more than 30secs...
and when I tried it with my Samsung Galaxy Y, it took almost a lifetime...

Yeah, I let it go even longer, and it finally finished. I'm on an S4 Mini, which only has a dual-core Snapdragon 400.
Now my other problem is that when I look in the drawables of Dialer or Camera, there doesn't seem to be any launcher icon in the list. (I'm running an AOSP-based rom, FYI)

Ohhhh, right. Now I feel dumb. This is an awesome module, I'm gonna have fun with it!
I'd like to offer a UI suggestion if I may though. Some of the lists are very long, and they scroll very slow on my phone. How about enabling a draggable scroll bar on the lists, so we can jump down to the bottom quickly?

New problem...I changed the Hangouts launcher icon, but it's not actually changing after I restart. Any idea why this might be?

have you check the resflux in the xposed installer?
are you using samsung's default launcher?
coz I think it caches the packages' icon that's why u can't see the changes...

Yes, I have it checked in the Xposed Installer. No, I'm using the Google Now Launcher (running SlimKat). The xSuite module also has trouble changing the Hangouts icon...there must be something different about it than other apps.
Great

Actually, I'm not sure. It's taking me quite a long time to test...I haven't been able to find a launcher icon to try to change in Phone, Dialer, Camera, Gallery, or Chrome. And each time I try a new app, it takes 5 - 10 minutes to map the resources. I'll find a small app to try and let you know...
EDIT: Ok, I just tried changing the icon of Buildprop Editor, and it worked perfectly.

Hey everyone - me again, resident no-one-in-particular. Much like my previous forays into "projects"... I'm finally getting to where I feel good about posting this little mess - and it only took 4 months! Clearly I am still lacking a bit in the speed department, but hopefully folks enjoy what I've managed to muster together so far. This was originally based on the stock UVUDNF1 T-Mobile TouchWiz 4.4.2 and is now based on the stock UVUDNF9 4.4.2 base - the most recent official update at the time of writing this post... In other words - this is a stock modified T-Mobile rom! As I already mentioned this took quite a while to put together as a number of my tinkerings had to be more or less reworked from scratch (stemming from tinkerings on other devices and changes between 4.3 and 4.4.2 - and even between 4.4.2 builds), but on the upside I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out.
It should be noted that I still consider this a work in progress, so even though there are a number of things that I still want to include - at the time of writing this post I feel enough is done to warrant it actually being posted. That way others (assuming others give it a shot) can let me know if things don't work or if any oddities come up. Also feel free to comment on how this might improve, if I've gone about anything in a not-so-smart way, or if there is anything you would like to see (or wish wasn't there) - I can't promise I'll do anything about it, but such requests keep me motivated and learning, and thats been the driving force behind my tinkering since it began really
[size=+2]I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE![/size]
In an attempt to keep things clear and concise, see below for links to posts containing various bits of should-be-read info on what this is all about.
[size=+1]PLEASE NOTE:[/size] Make sure to THANK @RErick because without him the deep sleep issues that result from a disconnect between the ATT 4.4.2 kernel and the NF9/NF4/NF1 /system base would still be with us - BUT THAT IS NO LONGER THE CASE! As of Tweaked 3.9 all fixes are now included in the main install - and thanks again to RErick for the hard work on solving the deep sleep woes!

KRYON THEME
FOR THE GALAXY NOTE 3 on ATT & TMO RUNNING TWEAKED NF1 KITKAT ROM O N L Y
KRYON THEME is a new theme that digs a little deeper into your Touchwiz ROM's DNA. Its not just image work, but expanding into the smallest things and exploring/exposing new ideas that will make Touchwiz become almost a new UI feel. With KRYON THEMEs, I wanted to merge that edgy taste with a bit of class, to the Touchwiz experience while driving that happy feel and sleek look through out. As an avid AOSP lover, I simply love the Note 3 and all its glory, just not the hideous look of stock TW. KRYON THEME hopes to make you smile
These versions are IN BETA RELEASE and consists of the Main Structures-Framework, SecSettings, SecContacts, SecPhone, SystemUi, S5-Mms, Calculator, Job Manager, MultiWindowTray, MusicPlayerWT, Camera and Clock of course there is more to come. Just getting started...

[size=+2]TWRP/Safestrap Installation instructions[/size]:
While this rom does offer some customizable options at install - THE CUSTOMIZATION PROCESS IS NOT QUITE THE SAME AS OTHER ROMS!!
What does this mean? Well, if you want to tailor your installation using some of the available options, you'll have to read up on how to do so.
Wut?!? I have to read then!?! NOO!!!!
LOL - well like I said you really don't HAVE to read about this, it's only if you want to customize things outside of the default setup. If you don't want to customize anything, then simply flash the main TweakedN3 zip and be on your way. NOTE:Info on default and custom install options can be found in the installation instructions zip!
So you want to customize the install? Sounds good - and read on.
This was an idea that I started using over on the Note2 (though I've changed what I consider "default" a bit), and given the lack of aroma capabilities while using safestrap it at least offers an approach that lets users customize things a bit. Another advantage (for those that like customizing a bit at install anyway) is that after an initial step - future re-flashes of the rom will always utilize the same selections (assuming you don't delete some files in a particular directory of course). This should be a boon to those that enjoy flashing this and that, as the process of reinstalling this will now be tailored to what you want. [size=+1]NOTE:[/size] Unless you use the default approach you will most likely need to edit/redo this process for each update to make sure all new/edited options are up-to-date! This isn't excessively relevant yet, but it will be soon enough I imagine.
A complete explanation of the customizable-install approach can be found in this post, but for the sake of brevity and simplicity I am going to focus on the approach most fitting to the general (or new-to-flashing) user.
Before getting into that though, remember that the usual rules still apply:
- While very much stable in my experience you should be cautious whenever you flash. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset to avoid issues.
- I highly recommend wiping data before getting started with any of this. This is just a recommendation - not a requirement - though if you have issues that is almost always one of the first recommended fixes.
- I also recommend you already be on the 4.4.2 update, as this is a 4.4.2 rom and I imagine requires (or if nothing else works best with) a 4.4.2 kernel
- Tweaked needs to be flashed in a custom recovery - and thanks to the hardwork of @Hashcode this can be done via his Safestrap that can be found here. Make sure to THANK HIM for this, as none of this would be possible without his work!
[size=+1]THE SUPER SIMPLE SAFE APPROACH[/size]
Well the super simplest of all approaches would be to just flash the main install zip. For those that tried any of the 4.4.2 alpha/beta zips discussed here the result will be very similar to what was experienced with those. For those that would like to tailor the install a bit, you'll need to check out this post for instructions. Basically there is a directory you need to place on your internal or external sd card, and inside that directory are files that can be edited to reflect the particulars you would like to be installed.
Below is what I would consider the general fits-whatever-install-approach-you-chose installation instructions:
[size=+1]THE GENERAL APPROACH[/size]
- Backup your current setup/data
- Decide which install route (default/custom) is best for you
- Download the main installer and put it on your internal/external sdcard
- If you decided on the custom install route
--- Download relevant zip for said approach
--- Extract directory inside zip and place it on internal/external sdcard as instructed
--- Edit install.prop and anything else required to reflect your install choices
- Boot into safestrap recovery thanks to Hashcode
- Recommended to wipe data/factory reset
- Select and install the main Tweaked rom .zip you put on your sdcard

[size=+2]How to custom install Tweaked[/size]
So you've decided to customize the install a bit eh? Good to hear.
[size=+2]NOTE:[/size] For this approach please be aware that the process will likely need to be redone with new versions to make sure you have access to all available options!
I will try to keep changes to these files minimal, but changes are inevitable, so make sure to stay up-to-date with the version you are flashing, as otherise you will likely get the default install!
[size=+2]ALSO -[/size] with this custom install approach you can place the TweakedInstall directory on either the internal or external sdcard. That being said, in general if you have a TweakedInstall directory on BOTH your external AND internal sdcard, the files in the external sdcard directory will be chosen over those in the internal sdcard directory. Furthermore - it is VERY important that you DO NOT RENAME ANY OF THE FILES OR THE DIRECTORY! If you do you will likely get a default install when flashing the main installer (not the worst thing of course).
[size=+2]----- CUSTOM -----[/size]
This approach requires changes you will have to do, and therefore needs a little reading and preparing ahead of time. In order to help things along, I've put together a zip file (see downloads post here) with instructions and needed files - make sure to read the... well, the README! The contents of that readme file are below:
--- From the READMEFIRST-INSTRUCTIONS.txt in the ATTInstallInfo.zip file ---
####################################
# HOW TO CUSTOM INSTALL ON ATT: #
####################################
### NOTE: THE INSTALL.PROP EDITING DESCRIBED HERE ###
### NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO FLASHING THE ROM! ###
1) Decide if you will be editing text files on the computer or the phone
- regardless of where you do this, the result must go in a specific directory on your internal/external sdcard (see below)
- if you use a computer to edit, make sure it uses the Unix-style end-of-line character (you can use Notepad++ on a PC)
- Not all text editors work as you need them to if doing this on the phone - I have only tried it using the built-in text editor in Root Explorer
######## THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND A SOURCE FOR SIMPLE MISTAKES - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! ########
2) Extract the TweakedInstall folder (either on PC or extract it to the ROOT of your sdcard - internal OR external)
- Inside are five files - the main one of interest for installing is install.prop
3) Open install.prop using a text editor and read the instructions
- it is on this file you select options
- this is similar in idea to how aroma works
- ALL you are doing with this is changing the numbers that come after the = signs
- DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE! ONLY NUMBERS!
- Follow the instructions for what each number means for each choice
4) Complete any other OPTIONAL file edits per how you want to install
OPTIONS INCLUDE (these are for the more advanced users around - THEY ARE NOT NEEDED AND CAN BE IGNORED):
- If you opted to further debloat beyond available options and have set dangertweak to = 1
- edit the applist file with the apk name that you want removed
- ONE APK PER LINE
- see baseapplist.txt for a list of apk names that are included on /system as "default"
- If you opted to keep some pre-existing system files and have set savelist to = 1
- edit the savelist file with the full path to the file you want saved
- so for example if you wanted to save a script file called 02ForExample that was in the init.d folder, you would enter
/system/etc/init.d/02ForExample
into the savelist file
- ONE PATH PER LINE
5) Make sure the directory along with your newly-edited files are moved to your sdcard if not already
### IMPORTANT: THIS DIRECTORY HAS TO BE AT THE ROOT OF YOUR SDCARD (INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL)!! ###
### IMPORTANT: THE NAME OF THIS DIRECTORY MUST NOT CHANGE!! ###
### IMPORTANT: YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! ###
6) Boot into recovery and flash the Tweaked rom zip
TAKE HOME:
The edited install.prop file (and optional ones related to it) being kept in the TweakedInstall directory on your sdcard will make it so you won't need to do any choosing the next time you want to flash the main installer. You can always come back to or reflash Tweaked exactly how you have set it up with no extra effort!
#########################################
# HOW TO USE MODIFICATINATOR ON ATT: #
#########################################
### NOTE: THE MODIFY.PROP EDITING DESCRIBED HERE IS ###
### TO BE DONE WHEN WANTING TO MAKE CHANGES AFTER ###
### THE ROM HAS BEEN INSTALLED! THE EDITS NEEDS TO BE ###
### COMPLETED PRIOR TO FLASHING THE MODIFICATINATOR! ###
Ok, let's say you've installed the rom and made a few custom selections, or regret not making some in hindsight. You can - without reflashing the entire rom - just go through and install/uninstall the particular thing you want to change using the modificatinator zip. BUT - it also requires you to do edits SIMILAR (but NOT IDENTICAL) to those you made to the install.prop, however in this case you will be using the modify.prop file. If you followed the above instructions for preparing a custom install, the modify.prop will be in the same directory as your install.prop.
1) Decide if you will be editing the modify.prop on the computer or the phone
- regardless of where you do this, the result must go in the same specific directory on your internal/external sdcard that the other files mentioned above are in
- if you use a computer to edit, make sure it uses the Unix-style end-of-line character (you can use Notepad++ on a PC)
- Not all text editors work as you need them to if doing this on the phone - I have only tried it using the built-in text editor in Root Explorer
2) Open modify.prop using a text editor and read the instructions
- it is on this file you select options
- this is similar in idea to how aroma works
- ALL you are doing with this is changing the numbers that come after the = signs
- DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE! ONLY NUMBERS!
- Follow the instructions for what each number means for each choice. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN!
4) Move the edited modify.prop to the proper directory (same one the install.prop is in) if not already
6) Boot into recovery and flash the modificatinator zip
TAKE HOME:
The edited modify.prop being kept in the TweakedInstall directory on your sdcard will need to be edited every time you want to use the modificatinator zip.
### WHEN EDITING TO MAKE A SELECTION MAKE SURE THAT ANY OPTIONS YOU HAD PREVIOUSLY SELECTED HAVE BEEN EDITED BACK TO "NO CHANGE" VALUES AS WELL!!! ###
--- End READMEFIRST-INSTRUCTIONS.txt -
The hope is that these instructions are as simple but as thorough as possible for those wanting to embark on the custom approach.
[size=+2]FAQ[/size]
Q: What the hell is TSMParts (new option in Settings menu)?
A: An interface for a huge slew of mods and tweaks, the base of which was originally put together by the original members of TSM and has since been inspired by impressive works of numerous others - the TSM Parts interface acts as a control for all of the customizable fun available. There are a large number of options there - so make sure to check them all out!
Q: TSMParts is asking for superuser access?!?
A: Yep - there are some options that will need it, so make sure you grant it!
Q: I'm having overlap issues with statusbar icons and center clock - what should I do?
A: Yeah - things may overlap, so you will have to either change settings to avoid the issue or just deal with it.
Q: I set a statusbar icon to hide, but it's still there. What gives?
A: The statusbar icon tweaks may require a little effort on your part for changes to take effect. All changes can be elicited with a reboot/hotboot, BUT for most there are other ways:
-- Bluetooth/vibrate-silent/alarm icons/ime/nfc/wificalling -- just change their state (on/off or vibrate/sound, etc)
-- No sim -- if the notification is already active you will need to reboot/hotboot to hide it
-- smart "eye" icon -- changes will happen once the eye triggers
Q: How is battery life on this rom?
A: This is a stock modified rom. As such, battery life will be equivalent to stock were you to be running a similar array of apps and kernel - it really should be no different than stock otherwise (which imo is not half bad really). The kernel and misbehaving 3rd party apps have more to do with battery life than a modified stock rom - at least in my opinion (and experience, though it's limited).
Q: So tethering is a common topic... can it be done with this?
A: To be honest I am unsure as to how tethering will behave using AT&T as the carrier... there was an annoying upsell message that TMo folks would get that I tried to set up to avoid, but in theory tethering SHOULD work on this. I will update this once it has been confirmed by a few folks
Q: Why isn't the accurate data icon mod working!!?!
A: The only time that mod shows an effect is when you are on the T-Mobile or ATT network - I don't believe other networks will see a change in data icon behavior.
Q: What is this LMT thing? How do you use it?
A: You need to check out noname81's thread here for info on that!
Q: Why can't I toggle off/on the security settings for exchange-based emails using the stock email client?
A: Mostly because I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. As long as you set it up to how you want PRIOR to setting up the account, AND you don't change the setting later - you should be fine.
Q: Why is it that when I swap the settings UI type the settings icon itself seems to move in the app drawer?
A: The toggling of the two UI types make the SecSettings package "appear" different to the system, so it's location in the app drawer may change after toggling depending on the launcher and settings used. This is normal and of no concern.
Q: I have an N9005 - can I flash this?
A: Thankfully the N9005 can pretty much flash any N900T rom, but there can be issues with things like wifi/bluetooth/nfc. Thanks to some due diligence searching of @galaningenieros and his pointing to the good work of @cdmvirt here, you can fix it right up by flashing the files found in this post!
Q: I'm getting a force close when I try toggling N3/S5 in TSMParts > Statusbar options... WHY YOU MAKE ME BREAK MY PHONE?!?!!
A: This has been an odd one, but it appears as if the blame resides within a few xposed modules. In particular, the iOS battery module and wanam have both been implicated. I will try to come up with a way around it, but if you uninstall these modules your toggling experiences should improve.
Q: I flashed this in safestrap and either used an old install.prop or none at all - why did I get an AT&T install?!?
A: I did this on purpose - I made it so when flashing it assumes that if you are using the default install.prop and in safestrap that you want an ATT-ified install (assumes you have an N900A and ATT as a service provider). If this is NOT the case - you can override this by updating or setting up a current install.prop
Q: Why don't you mention blah blah blah in your FAQ? It would have helped me a lot!
A: My bad - PM me anything you think should be added to this that would be helpful for the general user base!
[size=+2]Miscellaneous Notes[/size]:
- [size=+1]REMEMBER -[/size] Regardless of what install approach you use you can always use the Modificatinator to un/re/do virtually [size=+1]ANY[/size] of the options available to you in the main install! No need to reflash the whole rom!
Even if you don't use it right away, make sure to GRAB THE MODIFICATINATOR HERE NOW so you have it if you want it later!!
- Updates that come after the initial release MAY also have a flash-update-only option - whether or not it does just depends on the specifics of the update. [size=+1]NOTE:[/size] Depending on what is updated, an update-only flashable may break things if you are themed! I will try to avoid this as much as possible, but all it takes is a minor edit to a framework-res.apk string (for example) to necessitate an overwriting of a file typically quite important for themers (resources.arsc) - just be mindful of this please
- This is still pretty much an unthemed rom - so if any would like to change this PLEASE let me know (a themer I am not!). This is reflective of the thinking behind the whole setup as being nothing more than stock with some extra options. On that note - for those that like flashing various mods and what not, be wary - unless it specifies that it was made to work with Tweaked it likely will not.
- If you are unable to grab a logcat of a force close/issue, there is a directory on your phone that may contain files I can use in a similar way.
/data/log/ is the directory, and the files that offer tidbits and clues as to what the issue was start with the name "dumpstate_". If you send those to me along with an explanation of what went wrong, I will be much quicker to figuring out (and hopefully resolving) the issue!

No need to use the custom install if you don't want to customize the install beyond the default - you can just flash it.
Is there a better way to portray that in the OP(s)? That is definitely the feeling I wanted to convey, and not surprisingly it seems I fell a bit short of the mark

Was been a bit cautious that's all, at first it sounded mandatory (myable BC I've been working all night) I installed it with material L theme and boy is it smooth, I might have to return my G3 now. Thank you!
Awesome thank you! Can't wait to download and flash this beast! Wallys themes are sick.
@dwitherell,
Thanks so much for giving us another ROM option for our ATT Note 3. Install went without issue. I had an issue with data, but added an apn from here and now have data. Had an issue with wifi passwords being remembered after a reboot, but applied fix from @Walter.White ...."Change the following line in build.prop:- ro.securestorage.support=true to false" and wifi passwords seems to be sticking after reboot.
I'll let you know if I see anything else. Once again...thanks very much.

Nice
I'm curious - are you seeing the wifi calling toggle? It almost seems like you didn't get the ATT stuff in the install process - and that should have included ATT apns and an ATT build.prop with that securestorage edit. Let me know

[MOD] Change apps' icons - system and user apps everywhere

Hello,
i'd like to share instructions for a mod that lets you use custom images (.png) as icons for apps system-widely (in recents menu, in launchers, included One UI home) in stock-based samsung roms.
This works fine on Android Pie 9 rom (it might work also on Android 10 Q if the engine hasn't changed).
Story:
I was searching a way to get rid of adaptive icons (i hate small icons inside white circles, i simply can't find my apps) and get back freeform legacy icons. Unfortunately OneUI home launcher does not allow custom icons, while using third-paty launchers only lets you change icons on the launcher side and not in the whole android system.
Samsung has created a great theme engine but they like to protect their things from personal use too (seriously: who's still making money from theming nowadays?).
Basis:
You need to edit the theme_app_icons.xml file in framework-res.apk from system/framework folder and the only way I found is by replacing framework-res.apk with a modded one (ROOT needed).
I made several attempts to create a working overlay (root-less) for this particular file in framework-res but it seems that strangely this file cannot be overlayed using the Resource Overlay framework (Samsung restrictions? So far it seems that other themers could not find a way, too).
So, for ROOT-LESS users, you can only customize predefined samsung/google apps icons (apps listed in theme_app_icons.xml).
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) decompile framework-res.apk (i used TickleMyandroid https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633333)
2) go to decompiled res/xml folder, open and edit theme_app_icons.xml adding new entries for the apps you want. For editing you can use Notepad++, avoid Windows notepad.
You need to add the package name of the app and an ic_xxxxxx custom icon name you'll use later.
For example, if you want to customize the icon of the XDA app you'll add this line:
Code:
<ThemeApp className="com.xda.labs" iconId="ic_xda" />
3) save, recompile (for recompilation errors you need to look in the error log and delete duplicate entries in styles.xml similarly to what is described here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78541190&postcount=838 )
Then drag and drop the theme_app_icons.xml FROM the recompiled apk TO the original framework-res.apk, because if you use directly the recompiled apk you might have bootloop (apktool problem with res folders, happens also for other system apks)
4) now -directly replace- or -system-lessly replace using a Magisk module- the framework-res.apk with the modded one and reboot
5) Open the Galaxy Theme store, download a random icon pack but DO NOT APPLY IT, export the apk (you can find it in data/app folder), decompile it and replace and add icons in res/drawable-xxxxdpi folder with your custom PNG icons (you can also replace default .qmg files with .png ones).
Now recompile the modded icon pack apk and replace the downloaded one on the phone with the recompiled pack
(you can A- directly install it over the original one if you have the "Core Patch" edxposed module/Smali patcher signature mod magisk module or B- uninstall the original pack using the terminal command "pm uninstall packagename" and immediately install the recompiled one.
The same concept can be used to install custom themes, for example these or using the "Custom Themes Installer for OneUI Pie" app )
6) Finally apply the icon pack using Galaxy theme store and you are done.

NOTES:
-The modded icon pack might disappear from the personal list in Galaxy theme store after a reboot, but the icons will stay there (and also the installed icon package).
-Every app still has its legacy icon in res/mipmap folders, so you can extract and use it in your icon pack
- you can adjust the icon size using the "icon_scale_size" integer inside the icon pack (max 100)
Hope you enjoy, i've been experimenting a lot during this lockdown time. I'll try also to answer the questions and give help.
This looks promising! is there anyway that the icon shape can be changed too?

Yes, more or less on those lines. I personally hate the squarecicle icons, can something like rounded rectangle be achieved? something that miui, huawei etc has

This is interesting. I just found that theme_app_icons.xml and tried to make an overlay to target it and failed. Then do a bit research lead me to this post. But I still want to find out why the overlay method didn't work. So could you share your steps and method that you use to overlay target that xml? I have a thinking that maybe the level of priority of the overlay is the issue.
well theres 2 minutes im not getting back. -_-

I simply edited one of the stock overlays you can find in /vendor/overlay folder. Tried fiddling a bit but was unsuccessful.
Please let me know if you find a solution (as far as i know not even professional themers so far have found the right way)

Themes / Apps / Mods Custom Magisk Module Mod Maker-ADB and Zip Installers

The purpose of the ADB installer is to generate for you a custom module that you can flash in Magisk App. The Zip Installer actually installs it for you on the final step and is done thru Magisk app instead of your pc.. Both will have all the mods that you have selected from the installer menu-folders. You need root and of course you need to be attached to your PC. On first installation of systemui base, a pop-up asking to give ADB shell root permission will show. Please do so.
Zip installer is installed from your phone, not your pc. You will install the mods through Magisk app. Unzip the Zip Installer onto your internal sdcard. Like ADB installer, start with a SystemUI base. Do not reboot between selections as Magisk as shows after flashing selections (options are found inside the numbered folders). Hit the back button to make your next selection. Do not reboot thru Magisk until after you are done with your selections and have flashed the "Complete Installation" zip.
Custom clocks (date, etc) and internet speed indicators do not change colors due to light-dark background colors like the statusbar icons do.
I'm also including my Pixel Launcher mod below. Also a ADB Installer. You can change app drawer background-text color (separately for light mode and dark mode). Change the number of hot seat icons on home page (and size) as well as change the number of columns in the app drawer.
ADB and Zip Installer Instructions-Root is required
1. Flash a SystemUI Base First. It provides the necessary smali files and public ID's for everything to work.
The difference between color base and stock base :
Color Base:
You have to flash a color in order to change the color of the QS tiles (default is blue). You have a choice to leave the "OFF" QS tiles as a inverse of "ON" QS color or you can change them to Gray. You also have an option to change lockscreen colors. Color base doesn't always work nicely with light theme. Nothing horible. just some text in places that is not as bright as it needs to be.
Stock Base:
This is the one most people need to use. To change the color of the QS tiles for stock base you go to settings/display/device theme and select the color you want. The "OFF" color tiles remain gray. You have an option to change settings/notification/volume bar backgrounds to black. The background accent also works with Color Base. There is no option to change lockscreen color with Stock Base.
2. FLASH ALL THE MODS YOU WANT. ONCE YOU DONE WITH EVERYTHING, FLASH THE "COMPLETE INSTALLATION" Option. This will create a Magisk App flashable zip in a folder on your sdcard called ozop (for ADB Installer). Flash that to install your selection of mods. Flashing it for Zip Installer will install it as a module and is your final step.
Root required
ADB Instructions.
1. Unzip ADB Mods Installer Files.zip on your PC
2. Run TulsadiverModsInstaller.bat (Give ADB Shell Root Permissions. If missed on first opportunity, turn on in magisk manager, superuser)
3. ADB debugging Enabled
4. Flash the SystemUI Base First. It provides the necessary smali files and public ID's for everything to work
5. Go through the other options selecting what all mods you want. It is generally best to start at the top and work your way down.
6. Once finished with selections, run "Complete Installation" at the bottom. This will generate your mymagisk.zip module in a folder called "ozop" on your sdcard.
Root required
ZIP Instructions.
1. Unzip Zip Installer onto your internal sdcard
2. Flash thru Magisk app. Flash the SystemUI Base First. It provides the necessary smali files and public ID's for everything to work
(Do not reboot between selections as Magisk shows after flashing selections. Hit the back button to make your next selection)
3. Go through the other options selecting the mods you want. It is generally best to start at the top and work your way down.
4. Once finished with selections, flash "Complete Installation" at the top. This will install your selections as a Magisk module.
If you installed the color base version, once installed and working, go to settings/display/Device theme and reselect the QS/accent color you chose from installer menu.

If anyone needs more help, here are the steps that worked for me:
1) Make sure device is rooted.
2) Enable USB debugging from Developer options.
3) Plug device into PC.
4) Device should have Android launched and sitting at your home screen.
5) On your PC, open ADB from command prompt, and call "adb kill-server" and "adb start-server".
6) Open on TulsadiverModInstallerStock.bat.
7) Type 1 and press Enter. Select an option and press Enter again. You should see a quick flash of text, which indicates failure in this case. Look at your device and you should see an "Allow USB debugging" prompt, so accept this.
8) You should get a Superuser prompt at some point here on your device. If not, go to Magisk > Superuser and enable "Shell".
9) Retry step 7 and it will work this time. The app will take some time to generate the base file. You can ignore any errors that show up here, as long as the creation process continues.
10) Follow any intermediate steps you want. These will be very quick.
11) Complete the last step. This one will take some time.
12) Go to Magisk > Modules > Install from storage, and install the module that was just created (found in the /storage/ozod folder).
13) Reboot.
Hey, it seems very interresting !
2 quick questions. When using full screen gestures, does removing navbar/set height to 0 break things ?
And is it possible to add things like : Double tap to wake (instead of single) // Double tap to sleep on launcher and lockscreen. Thanx !
Unsure about double tap. In regards to navbar, I don't remove it to 0 dip, but to .5. That seems to eliminate breakage. That being said, I'm currently redoing this mod as I've found multiple bugs.
I've identified an issue that causes the navbar to scroll off-screen when the notification panel is shown. First I turn off my screen by pressing the Power button (but phone still kept unlocked by Smart Lock). This causes the issue to start. Then I select the Lockdown option to lock my phone, and this fixes the issue:
screen-20211101-082000[1]
Watch "screen-20211101-082000[1]" on Streamable.
streamable.com
This creates a problem for many apps that have content which is aligned to the bottom of the screen, as it resizes the app's content. It's especially problematic for list content, since the list scrolls up a bit when this happens and the scroll position stays that way:
screen-20211101-081102
Watch "screen-20211101-081102" on Streamable.
streamable.com
EDIT: Wait, is this a problem with stock Android 12 when not using gesture navigation? It still happens even when I disable the Magisk modules. It doesn't seem to be a situation I can even replicate in emulator.
February update has been uploaded.
A new ADB installer has been uploaded to update the "NavbarGone" option due to the 2nd generation February update. That is the only thing that needed updating. Another option would be to replace the "nav0" folder that is inside the "navbar" folder with the attached.

I just added one for 12.1
April update for 12.1 has been uploaded.
Used ADB install for RC/battpercentgoneswap and flashed waterfall28.zip separately. Working perfectly and very easy to install. Also works alongside HideNavBar and USNF. I was banging my head trying to stack the standalone mods.
Thank you for the great work, and thank you for being patient with users like me. So glad to have my battery and time looking the way I expect. You never know how much you miss something until it's gone. The mods really make it so much easier to glance that information.

Glad you tried it and that it worked for you. Also, thank you for your support.
Mods for April update will work on May update.
I uploaded the old firmware. There were some changes, apparently. Please hold off for a while.
The services.jar and SystemUI has changed. It's going to have to be updated.
June update has been uploaded.
June update working and easy install! Think you could incorporate waterfall28 into the ADB installer so it's a one-stop shop? Right now I have to reboot and flash them separately, which is fine. However, I have been using your mod for many months and intend to continue for even more. It would be a nice convenience.
