Do you enjoy using the Stock CyanogenMod Kernel because it is extremely stable? Have you ever kept using the CyanogenMod kernel but wished you had some Governors and I/O Schedulers for better battery life and speed? Then look no further! Introducing the SimpleKernel! This is nothing more than the CyanogenMod kernel (Thanks to dhacker and Hashcode) with added governors and I/O Schedulers added to enhance the kernel slightly, and it has been compiled with the Linaro Compiler. Other than that, this kernel has no other pieces of code added to keep it simple.
This is only for CM10.1 or a ROM running 4.2.2.

There is a thread in XDA forums that explains EVERYTHING on this topic, so repeating is futile.
This is nice - we have now two kernels, nice work!

The last time i saw that post it did not have many of the newer governors.
Anyway here is a link to the same thread which has now been updated with a lot more details.

can you try a kernel build for droid 4 ?
there is a problem with the sound in cm10.1 and cm10.2 and until 10.1.2 it worked fine with cfq or deadline but now cm10.2 and 10.1.3rc2 are not working anymore no mater what scheduler I choose.
I flashed this on droid 4 cm10.1.3rc2 is booting and everything seems to work except the hardware keys (option, home, back, search). I would like to see if it's working stable with row scheduler.
I tried to build my own cm but the zip file will not boot and I followed several howtos and all the files are in the zip file.
Regards

This sounds like something is wrong upstream which I simply pull my source from. And without a Droid 4 or any sort of log I can't fix this. Sorry.
As for the hardware keys, do they not work completely or do they just not light up?

Its great to see more options for our razr! I look foreword to seeing what you will bring to the table. Congrats on release.

yes, the sound is upstream, but I think that is a bug in the motorola proprietary drivers, but it worked ok with cfq and deadline (found it by chance because noop was previously the default one).
the keys light up on screen touch or on hardware keys touch(not those on screen).
Previously I tried with an older version of jbx kernel but it will lag after some time and I am curious if your kernel will not lag but without home key I can't use the phone .
O maybe you can tell me by PM how you compiled the kernel so I could try with droid 4.
Thanks !

Working great. Thank you

My WiFi is working fine have you guys tried running the wifical.sh script them turning airplane mode on and off. Although I did have trouble with slim/jbx and WiFi not working after a dirty flash but a fresh install took care of it I think somehow some data might have gotten corrupted

I tried manually running the wifical.sh script and it comes back with an error and says could not calibrate. Tried reflashing cm10.1 and WiFi worked, then flashed simple kernel again and WiFi is broken again.

No Wi-Fi here also. LS2.9

I have tested again this kernel over last official Carbon 4.2.2. ROM using Safestrap in Slot1 and I got same problem... It doesn't boot, I got a black screen...
Any help would be appreciated. I'd like to test extra governors and ios...
Thanks!!!

Thank you for the kind words live2die. I already have JB AOSP Port of the kernel ready, but no roms to use it on yet. =/ Will be working on Sense 4 as well soon dependent on feedback.
Thanks for your work......using this (AOSP from your Android File host) since yesterday.....working great. Thanks again....
Sweet, more kernel action. I do have one hope for a kernel, which is CIFS support. I have been unable to get CIFS working on any of the ROM/kernel combo I have tried. I have tried quite a few.
Any thoughts on this, anyone? Usually my CIFS inquiries go unanswered, lol.

Thanks for the work, I just installed AOSP finally and Neo includes your kernel in his Rage rom. I was wondering if you were considering adding badass governor in the future. My last kernel, dsb9938's rezound cubed, had it and it seemed to give slightly better battery life than wheatley.

I just optimized Wheatley for a slower cpu ramp but have yet to pull/cook in the changes. On another note, v1.1 is now online with CIFS. For those who don't know what CIFS is, it allows Samba shares to be mounted acrossed an internal network to allow streaming and file sharing.
I have yet to build v1.1 for AOSP since working on the wifi wakelock issue currently (might as well kill 2 birds right?)
Although with your recommendation, I will look into it. Again Tuesdays are the usual build days.

Don't say that. I have seen your posting. You're pretty damn smart.
For those who have downloaded Global v1.1. It will softbrick. I need to redo the boot.img. You will end up in a bootloop
It's good to see another kernels show up on the scene. I'm gonna wait a little bit for it to mature, but I'll definitely be trying it out sometime soon.
What is up with that site? I made an account then clicked your link again (specifically the AOSP one). I saw a delete button and thought "no way I could delete someone else's file" so I clicked it and it deleted it (the RC zip)... did I just delete your files or is it only gone for me?
Crap. Its OK. I got RC1 locally but won't be able to reupload til later. I'll think of a different way to give you guys access to previous versions without being able to delete. Please be careful next time. I'll fix it later.

[KERNEL][26 APR] GLaDOS V1.4 for JB 4.2.2

Aperture Laboratories presents
GLaDOS V1.4
The latest innovation in human-smartphone interaction. Our scientist have shown in extensive tests that humans operating our kernel on their devices experience 67% more joy in life while simultaneously the likelihood of being maimed or killed by falling space debris is significantly reduced. Also preliminary human trials indicate that it might offer some protection against lethal dosages of gamma radiation and blows to the head with a rod-like object.
Features:
Based on stock Android kernel Jelly Bean 4.2.2 JDQ39
Simple I/O (SIO) and Read-over-Write (RoW) block schedulers
JRCU
FSync Control version 1
Generic CPU hotplug driver version 1
UV interface (Francisco Franco)
GPU OC interface (Francisco Franco)
CIFS
NFS client
NTFS read/write support
Cleaned out all unnecessary kernel features and drivers
Various other tweaks
I do not support the Cyanogen Mod (CM) ROM and if you run into any problems using it with this kernel you are on your own.
Download (only for 4.2.2 JB ROMs):
http://goo.im/devs/Ezekeel/GLaDOS-Nexus7 (thanks to goo-inside.me for hosting)
http://d-h.st/users/Ezekeel/?fld_id=5237#files (thanks to Dev-Host for hosting)
GLaDOS Control app:
Market: https://market.andro...l.gladoscontrol
Android Pit (accepts Paypal): http://www.androidpi.../GLaDOS-Control
If you had a different custom kernel installed before, you might need to reflash the original kernel that came with your ROM (boot.img in zip).
During installation the cache partition, Dalvik-cache and modules and init.d scripts from previously installed kernels are cleaned.
Source code:
https://github.com/Ezekeel/GLaDOS-nexus-7
This kernel is optimized to run best at the default options. There no need to change options like for example CPUfreq governor or min/max frequency - changing anything can have a negative effect on stability and performance.
Do not use profiles or hotplugging, they are unnecessary and only lead to instabilities.
If you experience any problems and are on a nightly or kanged ROM, try the latest stable version of that ROM first. I will not give support or answer any questions if you do not try this before reporting a problem with the kernel.
If you experience stability problems like reboots, freezes, FCs and SoDs and you did OC, first try changing back to the stock settings. If this solves the problems, your OC configuration is not stable. There are some indications that OC settings which run fine at high battery charges might still cause problems at lower battery charges. So to be safe always check that your OC configuration runs fine at low battery like 5%.
When reporting a bug always include information about your ROM and hardware model. Also be as precise as possible when describing the problem. Just because a single person is experiencing a problem, it does not mean there actually is a problem with the kernel. I always wait until at least one other person can confirm the issue before I look into it. So if you see someone posting a bug report, do not be shy and feel free to confirm the issue or if you do not have the problem let me know that too.
When asking for a feature you would like to see implemented in GLaDOS always provide a link with information about this tweak and preferably also a link to the source code.
Aperture bootanimation courtesy of Rascarlo ([twitter]rascarlo[/twitter]).

the kernel boots fine. if you came from a kernel with a modified ramdisk you'll need to reflash the ram (as stated in OP)
thanks for the kernel @Eze

It seems like i get these weird lock screen thing. I'm not sure how to describe it. I'm on vanir ROM. Whenever you lock screen then turn it on again this thing happens where the screen is flashing? I'm not sure what it is. I'll try to get a video of it. It's the kernel as i have no problem on Franco or lean.

This has been discussed on the ROMs thread. You need to comment out the GPU clock set line in vanir.conf on the SD storage.

I have released GLaDOS V1.2 adding the RoW (Read-over-Write) I/O scheduler and fixing the kernel crash when unmounting USB OTG devices.
Flashed the new kernel and its super smooth. But all 4 cores are on constantly. Even when is idle. Is it supposed to act like that?

I'll try to flash it again to test soon. My first attempt resulted in a boot loop for some reason. I am on the most current bootloaders too.

Mmm stock xnna2? Can you give me a link to the rom? I want to try with it but I can't find it....
The "unavailable" on the kernel version is an issue about the name but nothing else...
I will fix that in the next version...
What do you want to say with button light? The capacitive buttons light doesn't turn on never?

you have clearly not done any research on the subject of overclocking this phone
please take some time to read up on the subject of overclocking before you go requesting for it
as for making request
at no point should you forget that developers on here have their own lives
the work they do here is a hobby
they do not get paid to do this work
keep that in mind at all times

Yeah, I know that it's unstable and a little dangerous to overclock this phone, but it shouldn't harm the device to go to 1.2ghz, right?

Overclock the Mini S III is a hard work and probably not feasible due to battery drain ... On the other hand, I have my device little while ago and do not want to damage it yet
I'm sorry but I can't provide overclock for our device...
Still, I'll take a look about it.

[P710/P713/P714][KK][KERNEL] KitKat Kernel for LG Optimus L7 II

---KITKAT KERNEL---
By @airidosas252
I'm glad to introduce first custom kernel at XDA for our LG Optimus L7 II (model P710)
Disclaimer:
HTML:
* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features of this Kernel
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTML:
My work done ever since now:
After having problems with Wi-Fi, now kernel is kinda universal,
since it accepts any modules available in /system/lib/modules folder.
Thanks to workaround, I had succesfully disabled vermagic checking
and Wi-Fi is functional and kernel is fully functional now.
Overclocking is still very basic and I don't think I'll be able to go any
further.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This kernel now moved out of ALPHA stage. Now it's in BETA stage.
Changes in my kernel (v 0.3):
-Further optimizations
-CPU overclock to 1036 Mhz
-GPU overclock is fixed now (available steppings: 320, 400, 450 MHz)
-USB OTG support (you need to fix permissions using USB Host Check app
-Fast charge
-USB HID support
Now available features in my kernel (changed in 0.2):
-Now it is much stable than it was before
-Much more responsive to heavy CPU tasks
-UI performance improvements
-Battery life might improved a little bit
-Drivers are optimized using additional ARM flags
-Different memory allocator (SLAB)
-Kernel version 3.4.2
-FRandom (needs testing)
-Used different toolchain with -O2 optimizations (Linaro 4.7.4)
-Enabled NTFS file system, prebuilt exFAT file system support (exFAT is probably only available in v.0.21)
-Additional GPU clocks for better performance: 320 Mhz, 400 Mhz, 500 Mhz.
-Additional CPU governors: lulzactive, Smartassh3, ondemandX, smartass2, lulzactive,
-Some additional IO schedulers: sio, sioplus, vr
-Universal modules support (can be buggy in later revisions)
-Fully working ZRAM (rather slow at the moment)
-SWAP
-Smaller kernel footprint thanks to the Linaro toolchain
Bugs:
-USB OTG still could not work. Drivers are very buggy. Always use powered USB Hub.
-If you want to use exFAT formatted sdcard, you'll need to mount it manually. Otherwise the system won't see it.
Post bugs in the comments section below. I will always read them all.
Link for the source code is https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzS7kS2MZuyucVpyNWlvVThOSHM/view?usp=sharing
Just flash this flashable zip through CWM and you're good to go.
I know there are ROM compatibility problems, but will this kernel work on a LG L7 II Dual? (P715/P716)
It should work, but I can't assure, if dual-sim functionality will work.
Just make sure to make backup of your existing kernel, in case something goes wrong.

I flashed this kernel. It worked pretty well the performance of temple run speeded up!
But, i have a doubt. I flashed this kernel. If i have to get back to the previous kernel, what will i have to do? I have nandroid backup, is it enough or i missed something?
Sent from my p714 running p710 KK stock rom.
If I remember right, there is boot image compressed seperately, when you make nandroid backup.
Didn't do nandroid backup for a long time, so can't tell everything precisely.

Is there option to add ''2 ways calls recording'' to this kernel?
Now I don't think it's possible. Will look, how to implement this feature in next kernel release.

Should be pretty simple IMO: Take boot.image from your nandroid backup, and insert it into airidosas252's zip image instead of the boot.image that's there. Then you can flash it via CWM the same way.
I think I won't get back to Jelly Bean. Now I'm starting to like my phone.
I guess new governors helped quite a bit. Been using VR as IO scheduler and smartassh3 as CPU governor.
I'm about upping to 3.4.10 and patch my kernel with -O2 optimizations.

sorry for my bad english :cyclops:
There are no root apps, which are capable of rooting this firmware.
There are several solutions to this, like flashing back Jelly Bean, rooting it, then flashing Kitkat flashable zip through CWM.
