So, i've got this 3G/2G Huawei e1756 modem that i want to use on my galaxy s3 . Basically because on my country mobile data plans are very expensive for my cellphone modell and i don't wanna upgrade my data plan. I had this another sim card with another data plan (cheaper one) and i want to use it . it perfectly works on my pc . But u know i want some kind of alternative when i run out of megabytes on my main phone data plan.
so i was wondering if there is a way on tablets to make this work. Does also on a samsung galaxy s3?
(i've read some guide for tablets but there is something that isn't on my phone, the "only modem" option . And also i don't know if modifing those system files on the rom would affect my normal signal coverage )

Oh.. that's really bad to see that no one replied, anyways found the fix... you can use your USB Modem sim card, through this mobile, and make your mobile as wireless router...

anyone, glad you found a solution. If i seen it earlier, i would have been able to say that , yes as long as your hd2 is on virgiin network, or its unlocked it would work. 3g modems take normal phone simcards. infact there is no difference between the sim cards except for the plan that is associated with them. you actually hgave a mobile number, the sim card can even be used to make calls and send texts in a phone but ofcoarse you would get charged for it.
I used to have a 3g modem of tmobile, and i would actually swap sim cards when i used my allowance up, as i had unlimited data plan on both phone and modem. now that i have hd2 i canceled my 3g broadband plan and use just my hd2 (as my phone plane has unlimited date subject to fair use policy, which is 3gb)
Hey guys I am not sure what's going on but I have the galaxy s2 on at&t and when I flash some roms the mobile data simply wont work i have tried reflashing , enabling and disabling data and it just wont work.
Works on Villain Rom but might not work on other rom.. someone suggested to flash basebands i tried basebands like KI3 , KI4 , KH5 i belevie on this one specific rom and other one and it won't work.

I am having the same issue with my SGSII on AT&T on GoPhone unlimited plan. I called At&T today and they said I am using a Smartphone on a none smart phone data plan. I guess maybe Samsung has released the IMEI numbers for the international models to AT&T. I could be wrong so don't think this is written in stone. I did however get internet service off and on flashing other ROms.

you seem to be having at&t related issue I am on postpaid with 2gb data plan my issue is when flashing other roms , sometimes rom just becomes slow when i try other one it wont give me data but it will give me regular service and wi fi works just fine
Hello I'm wondering about a data issue I'm giving my mother my gs3 and wanting to know if I can go without data because she will not use it she has parkinsen . Now we use at&t I have data and I'm getting a new phone and I also ordered a sim cutter to make her sim work her sim is a go phone sim the metal area is the same size but one end looks a bit different.
Would unlocking the phone work without the data ?
Will I be able to do this without the data charge for her ?
Any ideas ?

So, can't we, owners of non-4G S III, connect 4G modem to S III and make it working?
Maybe, is there a way to take a case, which will cover back of the phone, and to hide under case a 4G dongle,and connect it via cable with charging-and-OTG-in-one. After that we put one sim-card without internet to phone, and one sim-card with 4G internet to this dongle.
May we make 4G dongle working on Android, especially S3?
P.S. Yes, I know, that it's better to buy another phone, but I want to do some experiments with this device.

You can buy a 4g phone, better spec than the s3 for £150 with lollipop included.

Your tricks sound like Project Ara to me! That's technically impossible!
So I've been searching everywhere online to see if it is possible to mod my USB modem and I haven't found anything useful, so do any of you guys know how to help me? I want to disable the data cap that is on the device, it has a sim card and IMEI number so I assume it's relatively similar to a phones hotspot, I could be wrong though I don't know much about this stuff.
Edit: I have an unlimited/15gb speed plan for the USB modem but it slows down to 600kb when I run out
