[Q] Share to a network drive? Possible? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Please can someone help with the below, I don't know if it's possible or not.
My idea is as follows:
I go into my gallery, click the sharing icon at the top, select a specified network drive and it copies the picture(s) to it. A simplified means of communication between my phone and home PCs.
My current way of doing this is using File Expert, I browse SMB shares on the network and select the folder on my laptop on one tab, I then go to the tab for my phone, go to the DCIM folder and select files, copy them then paste into the network drive.
My hope is to speed up this process, I take a photo, go to the gallery, share, select the icon for the share on my laptop and pictures are copied.
I know there's tons of variations such as Samba Share or connecting via USB, Kies etc on doing this but wondered if there is an app that can be configured in the way mentioned above at all that anyone knows of? Or if a sharing shortcut can in any way be created to do this?

From the gallery itself im not sure. Is it just the odd photo or all of them? If it's every photo, it can be even quicker with foldersync. Just set it to.sync on a schedule or on folder change (new photo) to your nas / computer.
Actually I use this to sync my entire sdcard overnight whilst I sleep. I may ditch it though and use tasker with scripts directly instead....
Apologies, I know this isn't what you asked for and if you don't want every photo on your pc - it's not a solution... however it would be better solution for all photos

Many thanks rootSU, I actually just downloaded something similar as I thought it would be a good idea to backup my pictures and videos on my PC anyway. I think that would work well as a solution

[Q] Gallery -- how to view favorites?

Hi,
I liked how the gallery app syncs with picasa straight away, but it doesn't give me access to my 'favorites'. My wife uploads our baby pictures to her web albums and she is a 'favorite' so i can easily view pics via pc. it would be great to somehow access her web album by phone. seems like it shouldn't be difficult to do, but i haven't figured it out.
does anyone know whether it can be done? if so, how? if not, can someone recommend a good alternative?
thanks!
Not sure if this will help as I manage my photos on picasaweb a very specific way. Once I've uploaded pics to Dropbox, I go to picasaweb on my laptop, go to my Dropbox album....click on edit....then Organize And Reorder....
From here I select or CTRL select multiple images, and MOVE them to another folder or an existing folder...that folder then appears in the Gallery as a seperate picasa folder. This method can get a bit unwieldly if you have TONS of folders on picasaweb, because they ALL will display in Gallery. But if your careful to organize well this seems as good a way as any..Only takes a minute or so to do unless your moving tons of pictures around....Hope the idea helps..
thanks. that might be worth a try.
i was really hoping for something a bit more automated since my wife usually takes care of the photos. seems duplicative to have two sets of the same web album, but if that's the only way...
thanks again!

Windows Mobile Facebook notifications possible?? I have an idea . . . . .

Hi guys,
It's been annoying me for a while that Windows Mobile users are unable to receive automatic Facebook notifications, while iPhone and Android users have been able to do this for a long time.
I've come up with an idea that I think will achieve this for Windows Mobile, but it will involve writing scripts, and unfortunately that's not something I even remotely understand, so hopefully some of you 'Script Wizards' will be able to help/advise here!!!
I don't know if this is even possible but here goes. . . .
I'm looking for a way to display RSS content on a page in WAD2 (or other such program).
Here's the idea:
I have my facebook notifications set up to be viewable via RSS in Google Reader, and I use Speeed Reader on my phone to view them on the go. I'd like to be able to have them displayed on a page in my WAD2 theme, so they are easily accessable (and hopefuly up to date - see further down).
Here's the problem:
Speeed Reader saves its downloaded content in an xml file on my storage card. Is there any way that this content could be written to the registry so that a WAD Registry Text could be added to the WAD page to show it?
I wondered if there was some way of using xml2reg.exe to do this, if the correct script(s) were written to accompany it?
Further to this, maybe a script could be written to run Speeed Reader automatically at periodic intervals, then close it, so the latest notifications are saved to the xml file, then written to the registry, so WAD can display them?
Maybe all the above could be icorporated into one script?
This seems to have been done for Accuweather according to
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?p=99103 so hopefully my idea will also be possible.
If this can be done, this may be a good way to have Facebook notifications automatically delivered to your Windows Mobile phone, similar to the service which iPhone and Android users already enjoy
Failing this, does anyone now whether the xml content be converted in some other way so that WAD is able to display it?
Thanks in advance,

[Q] Sync files between PC, Android and Cloud automatically

Hi guys,
that is a problem that has bothered me for a long time and I'd really like a solution to this.
I'll start with an example:
Say, I have a folder on my PC. It contains subfolders and mostly but not only pdf files. I want to have that data on my Tablet/Phone too. But I don't want to have to transfer it through a USB cable or something similar. I want to have a two-way sync, so when I edit something on my PC / tablet, I want to change the file on the other device too.
And, most importantly, I want it to work in the background. I don't want to open an app on my tablet and tell it to download a folder, I just want it to see, what has changed and download that content LOCALLY.
Sure, that eats up space but I don't have that many documents.
I hope, I made my point clear, so is there anyone who can help or has any advice on how to achieve that?
Thanks in advance!.
Don
You can use dropsync pro to do 2 way sync in the background, on a schedule, or auto-detect changes.

[Q] Any app to automatically copy new files (photos) to a network drive?

Hi guys,
I'm trying to get a lil' privacy here
I know right now it's rather hard, but I'm trying to take my steps. So far setting Seacloud with https and encryption on a 2TB HDD wasn't too hard. Problem is, it doesn't upload the phone pictures to the server, at the moment. A second solution would be to have an app to sync those pictures to a network drive, which is already on Seafile, and would be then automatically backed up. This could be done via SMB or SCP/SFTP. Do you know of any apps doing this, copying any new detected file within an specifed folder to a network share?
PS: Yeah yeah, I know owncloud does this out of the box. Their apps are far better for this, but the way they store their filesystem isn't very clean IMHO, so I preferred seacloud instead (owncloud uses normal files for its storage, which can lead to issues implementing file history, while seacloud uses a database structure).

Accessing Shelter (work profile) data from computer

Couldn't find the answer through search and Google.
There doesn't seem to be any Thread dedicated to "Shelter" too, kindly direct me to it if you know any.
I am utilizing "Shelter" app on my Android phone for privacy purpose, but recently there are some hardware problems with my phone, and I needed to back up the files from work profile. After plugging in my phone to PC, I could only find the media files from "main profile"...
May I know where can I find the media/documents from "Shelter" (work profile)? For your information, due to the aforementioned hardware problems, I can not use my phone's File Explorer to copy those documents (I need to use my computer instead). Kindly advise.
