No hotspot after rooting. Please help! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, so I've been trying to fix this for a while now wondering if it's something that I've done wrong but with no success.
Here's my problem.
I rooted my S3 mini (GT-I8190N) running on 4.1.2 using this guide. Everything worked great, had no problem using it to root the phone at all.
After I removed all the 3rd party pre-installed crap -facebook- and finished setting up the phone the way I like it, I noticed that the hotspot was no longer working!
So I tried using hotspot apps, re-rooting, resetting and even leaving it off for a while just to see if anything would happen. It did not.
After looking around a few people have had this issue but I've not been able to find a working fix for mine. Could anyone point me in the direction of one please or advise me on how to fix this as I use it a lot.
Thanks.

Sorry, this is not the s3 mini forum. Completely different phone. Please use the /!\ report button to have a moderator move your post to the correct location.

[Q] Do these apps work for the Kindle Fire?

I have a Kindle Fire (that I love!) and have tried almost everything posted on this website, but so far nothing has worked.
Does anyone have a REAL solution to this issue? Sorry, I don't mean to sound rude, it's just really frustrating that I cannot get anything I've read on these forums to work.
I just want to be able to download apps from Android Market which is obviously ran by Google. I am completely at a loss here and not to tech-savvy.....
Thanks for any info that anyone can provide...

[Q] Phone remote control

Hello,
Just wondering whether anyone had any ideas on this.
I use a PC at work all day but quite often want to use GTalk to chat to people. Unfortunately my company blocks it so I can't use a browser to chat but obviously I can through my phone.
I used to have an HTC Desire that was rooted so that allowed me to use droidvnc to connect to my phone from my PC via vncviewer using USB(There's no wifi here).
It then meant I could type on my keyboard which makes things a whole lot easier when you're in the middle of something.
Basically now I've gone to an HTC One X I'm just wondering whether there's any app or anything that would let me do the same thing but without rooting the device as I don't want to invalidate any warranties just yet.
So in summary I'm really after a bit of software to let me remote control my phone via USB for the purpose of using GTalk or any other ideas anyone might have to get round it
Thanks

[Q] EAS / CellBroadcast Not Working on Verizon SGS4 on Any ROM

Hi, folks. I'm having issues getting my Emergency Alerts (EAS/Cell Broadcasts, etc.) functioning on my VZ SGS4. It works fine and I can get into the cell broadcast settings screen *only* on the stock, unmodified ROM.
I'm currently using the latest Hyperdrive ROM (5.7), but this issue is present on three others that I've tested.
I've found a couple threads that provide a flashable fix, but it never worked for me. I can confirm that EAS alerts existed because a room full of iPhones went off and mine didn't.
Not really sure how else to troubleshoot this. Any ideas?
Just to recap: I want the alerts, use a Touchwiz ROM on Verizon. I'm rooted and use TWRP.
I appreciate your suggestions!

private SMS

HI! I'm sorry if i post in the wrong place but i have a question. It can be a little bit stupid but...
i am in a project and i have to send SMS to different numbers. Somewhere 500-1000 messeges and i want to be private. So the people would not know the number. It should be something like the private messages from Gossip girl i think.
i Posted here because the phone from where i want to do this is a samsung galaxy S3. i9300 with android 4.3. rooted
thanks in advice!
There's no setting on the s3 that will hide your number
Use a computer or talk with your network

do you know any program on pc?
or maybe an application that will send my SMS under another number? i found one app but it is not working
the idea is that i want to send SMSs and the reciever should not now my number. i don''t want to make anything illegal. only something nice for a party. for al the participants to recieve nice SMS from a known number that is not in their agenda or a unknown number.
Thanks for your help!
You'll have to Google it. Its not something I would be comfortable helping you with. Suffice to say, there's nothing specific to the s3 that can do this

Not sure if you'd have this option available to you but one carrier in my country supports this (but not every carrier here, just this one). You have to start typing your message with some operator code and then type your message normally. Just to clarify, this opcode goes in-message, first thing you type. This way the message you're sending goes anonymous.
This is not my carrier so I only know it's something in the lines of *#number#. it'd probably be useless anyway, since not even other carriers here do this, I'm pretty sure it's specific to this one (its tmn portugal, btw
Maybe check with your carrier if they do? Regardless, I've seen people do this since cellphones exist so it's got nothing to do with the s3.

sorry if i said it wrong and i can not make you believe that i am not spamming. i can only describe in more detail what i want to do. i am in a non profit organisation that needs funds for helping people and in my country we can make money organising partys. but the problem is that in the same night there is another organisation that wants to do a party too and we want to make something special for the people to come.and we thought about sending to all people that want to come to our party smss. like " hi party people, have a nice party and we hope that you will enjoy. i can not tell you what organisation because we do not want for our "enemies" to know and copy our idea. but if you want i can tell you that in private. this organisation is internatiol and you might know. o hope this helps. i don't want to spam. thank you!

[Q] inquires from a galaxy s3 newbie

Hi everyone,
First of all it's my pleasure to join your forum, and I wish to be an active member and helpful as much as I can.
I bought galaxy s3 lately and I was unable to figure somethings.
1- I searched everywhere for a "device options" shortcut icon app and I couldn't find it, so is there any way to get it without holding the power button?
* the "device option" menu shows when holding the power button, and it contains power off and restarting options.
2- how can I stop charging the device when connecting it to my computer through a usb cable?
I may ask you another questions if I didn't find answers on the internet...
Thanks in advance,
& Best regards.
Welcome to xda.
1. What exactly are you expecting to see when you say "device options"? All settings are covered in the "Settings" app.
2. There is no way to stop charging when connecting via USB. Don't worry, it's completely safe. Battery is really precious on any smartphone; you'll soon find the more opportunities you get to charge it, the better.

Thanks for your fast reply.
1- The point from using a shortcut is not to use the physical buttons frequently, that's why I need a shortcut for the "device options menu", and the "device options menu" shows when you hold and press on the power button, the "device options menu" shows the restart, and power off options.
* Please be noted that I already found some apps on play store but they require your device to be rooted, and to be honest I am not comfortable with that.
2- So I think the only way to transfer files between the phone and the computer without charging is witlessly if I am not wrong, and please confirm this info for me.
I got another inquires if you don't mind...
3- Is there any way for a forward button or lets say undo back button, as sometime let's say on play store when I am searching for something and accidentally pressing the soft back button, so is there any way to undo this step, and get back on the same page?
4- How to search for a word in play store, for example when reading the reviews on some app, I need to search for a certain word in the reviews page, like when browsing the internet on my PC, if I want to search for a word I'll simply press "Ctrl + F", so how to do it on my phone?
Thanks for your reply, appreciate it.
1 - this is a developers forum. The assumption of being a member of this forum is that you're here to learn to modify your device and that starts with root. If you're not comfortable with root, this probably isn't the forum for you. It is not a help forum. I'd try android forums
2 - yes.
3 - not that im aware
4- no

Take it easy my friend, I know it's a development forums, and actually I am planning to be an Android developer in the near future, but for now I am just learning the basics, so forgive me for not being comfortable with rooting my device at least for now.
Thanks for your advice and answers
Regards.
Im just answering your questions and giving you the benefit of my experience.
