Vol down and power is download mode. When doing either download mode or recovery you dont have to hold menu too, jusy the vol button and power.

You know it's great to see others help someone who is freaking out when all it takes is to hold 2 buttons down and not belittle them because they're not as knowledgeable as them. To Hexitnow and all the others who are very knowledgeable in this area and all the help you've given us Noobs without making us feel beneath you I and we say Thank You.

[Q] How to get out of Boot loop

I was trying to install Revolution Rom 2.0(gingerbread) from a 2.2 rom(project v) and after flashing the gingerbread bootloaders using odin, I flashed the rom and kb5 modem though recovery. Now I'm stuck in a boot loop. I hear it say converting partition something or other and then it says not enough space.
I think I just soft bricked it since I can still get into download mode using the up volume key and power button and recovery using the volume down key. But it shows no files now in the root file and I can't see my back-ups.
I did save all folders in my root file on my computer just in case.
How do I get back to a working phone?
in order to get into download mode with gingerbread bootloaders yuo have to hold volume up and power
thanks button if i helpled
^ I'm pretty sure he knows that.
Anyway, you can just odin back to stock. Just follow s15274n's guide.

[Q] How to use clockword mod recovery?

Hi! Whenever i try to flash a ROM i go into the Android one, not clockword mod recovery. Can someone give me a tutorial/help me? Thanks!
I'm assuming you already used Odin to put CWM on your phone?
You need to press the volume up/down keys + the power button all at the same time to get it to come up.
This is a pretty good thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309293

Sorry if this causes some work, but I never used Odin to put CWM in. A guide would be really nice, if you would spare the time.
Go look at the thread I posted, it has a video with step by step instructions on what you need to do...

Is there a difference from doing it that way or just holding my power button down and selecting recovery?
No, but if you're stock I don't think you'll have that option. I suppose it depends on what you flashed to get CWM on your phone in the first place.
Thanks! I just got my phone and have unnamed so that option is there when i hold pwr button. Just wanted to make sure it was the same.

Hopefully Not Bricked!!!

I recently purchased an atrix from a friend that was already updated to 2.3.6 and i successfully rooted it. After that i was under the impression i needed to unlock the bootloader to be able to get a shiny new rom on it. I followed the instructions given by G-Man in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26956828#post26956828
Now all i get is a FAILED TO BOOT 0x1000 screen. Im afraid to do anything else from here and risk bricking and flushing a few hundred bucks down the toilet
Can i flash the official 4.5.141 sbf?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Edit: RESOLVED+Wrong area for post.
Sorry guys i apologize! :/
fisrt:u post in wrong place like this

You're right... i apologize.
Yes i found it... thank you very much for the direction.
so have u unsoftbrick your phone?,that tool is very easy for us to unlock bootloader and flash CWM recovery
Yes i did, its an amazing tool!!
to get into CWM do i have to use a button combo or do i need to download rom manager?
Button combination is the safest way, and works every time.
I personally prefer not to use Rom Manager for anything other then replacing (Updating) the recovery. In many custom roms there is a possibility to reboot the device straight to recovery, in the reboot menu.
Enjoy

Here is an answer for the button combination.
As for a recommended rom, I am using now MorriSoft v1.0, but any CM7 based rom will do the job.
Have fun
Pshhhhhhh. Try Joker's CM9 if you can deal with the video cam and orientation issues. ICS is a joy over Gingerbread.

Help Please! Phone won't turn on

First off, my apologies if this is in the wrong forum. Mods, you may move this thread if need be. I was just shown this website about two weeks ago by a friend and have only been a lurker since. So I apologize if my first post is one needing assistance.
First off, I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to doing all this reboot, recovery, root, etc. But I can usually figure stuff out. I have researched how to do all this stuff over the last to weeks learning how to do all this. Let it be known that I was already rooted with siyah 3.4.2? kernel with superuser, CWM, and had ROM Manager downloaded. Last night I had finally decided to try and download a custom rom (AOKP), and I went through ROM Manager to try and reboot into recovery mode..the phone went dead. I have not been able to turn the phone on since last night. I have tried taking the battery out, trying to hold down volume buttons/power button to get into download mode, etc..But nothing is happening. When I power on, I can see the screen where it says "Samsung Galaxy SII" w/ the triangle, but then the screen goes black and nothing. In a dark room, you can see that the screen looks like it's trying to fire by flickering, but again...nothing. Sorry if this has been alot of reading, but I just want to be as thorough as I can. If anybody can tell me what went wrong, and how it might be fixed, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Remove the battery and replace it. hold the up/down volume and power button. The screen should light up. Continue to hold them until the phone goes into recovery mode. The phone should turn on and off a couple times before it enters recovery. Then wipe the data and caches. Hopefully at the point the phone will work. If it wont work you could always try to buy a download jig. They are only a couple dollars and can easily be found with a search.

That usually cause more trouble than it's worth. Espeically for a noob. I had been in that situation back when I first start doing it. First thing I used was CWM and I had the same/similar problem.
That is why everyone here always mentioned to not use CWM.

@BigCohiba,
You need to get into download mode. You should be able to do that without using a jig. With the phone off, but with the battery still in the phone, hold down vol- and vol+ (but not power) while you plug in the usb cable.
The following instructions given by fakhri should also work:

After that, flashing siyah kernel alone may be enough to allow the phone to boot, but you may have trouble finding a Siyah in Odin flashable tar format.
...or, flash straight stock UCKH7, or flash stock plus root UCKH7. You can find download links for those in one or the other of the guides linked in my signature.
Please let us know your success or problems as you proceed.

[Q] Following the "Update to VRUEMJ7 and Keep Root" I think I bric

I was following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504408
I flashed MI1 per the guide, and when it rebooted it went to recovery but showed no text, then went to reboot itself and got stuck at the Verizon logo. So being as stupid as I am, and after trying to reflash the MI1 again a few times, I decided, hey, I'll just flash the Root De La Vega. Bad idea, now I'm stuck on the Samsung logo.
I should mention, whenever trying to boot into recovery on my own, it will show the "Booting Recovery..." and then shut off the phone.
I'd just like to go back to stock something at this point, is there any hope?
EDIT: Flashed back to Stock "No-wipe" MI1 and still stuck at Verizon Logo...
See if you can access recovery now and do a factory data reset.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.
Yeah, still unable to access recovery, it just reboots the device entirely after showing "Booting Recovery"

Just tried holding it for a while (>1min) saw the Recovery Booting text for like a half a second before the screen went dark and continued to hold for a while. After I finally let go it rebooted and is currently stuck on the Verizon logo again.

I'll be honest I still can't find it, even with search restored, it's like the only VRUDMI1 files are no-wipe, so for some reason I reflashed the Root De La Vego or whatever it is, and I'm still getting stuck on verizon logo...
EDIT: Okay, strangely enough, I was able to access the recovery and I performed a full wipe, and was able to boot the phone, but I lack root, should I attempt to start this whole process from the beginning?

What release are you running now? If it's MI1, then I'd try starting over - flash clean, then root de la vega, restore the file, then update.
