[Q] WiFi won't connect (logcat included) - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
My Phone has some Problems with Wifi since this morning, happened out of the Blue.
What the Problem is:
Cannot connect to any network, it says wrong password, even on open networks.
When it says "Connecting" the Wifi Signal Strength goes from Full to Zero.
What I tried to fix it:
Ofc Restarting Router, changing channels (also 2.4ghz + 5ghz), but that didnt seem to be the Problem. All my other WiFi Devices would connect without a Problem. And I was literally standing right next to the Router. I mean it used to work fine for the last 1.5years...
I was Running CM 10.2 Nightlies + CWM Recovery so I thought there might have been an Issue there.
First I wiped everything clean and reinstalled the newest nightly. Still the same problem.
Then I reinstalled Stock Recovery and the latest Stock ROM. Still the same problem.
Tried it with turning off the Power Saving Mode (*#0011#) didn't help.
Now I know you guys are big on LogCats so i attached mine here. I saw some E/ concerning Wifi but I don't really know how to make sense of it. So if anyone here wants to take a look at it knock yourself out.
Edit: its too big as an attachment so here's the dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/btqr0l8t0zm573l/logcat.txt

Yes i can see the networks just fine, but as soon as i connect the signal indicator goes to zero and it gives me the error
another thing that might be related is that i also cant pair any of my bluetooth devices anymore, i can find them, but pairing wont work

Same problem bro, am an old android user who went to iOS 2 years ago, and went back to android 10 days ago xD
first thing to do was getting rid of any rom and flash latest cm ! and buff ! can't connect to any wireless network, i flashed stock back and everything went fine, it just won't work with cm or aokp and i wish i know why !

it sems a sort of kernel config issue conserning wifi ...

how could it be a kernel issue? i tried cm and stock and both wouldn't connect.
but oh well, on monday i brought the phone to my provider, on tuesday i had a new replacement waiting for me so its all good
i think the wifi/bt chip was slowly deteriorating. BT Audio would sometimes crackle/stutter to the point where you couldn't understand anything, and that across multiple paired devices and ROMs

Wifi issues

I've been having issues with wifi on my tab. I visit a friends house and it won't pick up the wifi. My phone picks it up fine, laptops pick it up ect. I stand AT the router and still it doesn't pick it up.
I thought it was a 1 off but it started happening at work too. The only differenceis that is WAS working fine at work, now won't pick it up. And now I have the same issue at my parents.
Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know a fix?
Cheers
Try wifi sleep policy and play with the options. Mine was set to "Never" and I was having random problems. Now set to "when screen turns off", and I never lose connection, screen on or off... On the other hand your problem may be different.
/reviveThread
Can't be sleep policy as it picks up other wireless networks fine.
I was just living with this issue until it lost my Home Wifi! Now thats gone I have to turn Hotspot on my phone, which I shouldn't have to do.
I thought it might be a problem with the ROM, so I've tried Task's GalaxyTask v5.0 and I still have the same issue. Might try flashing Stock and seeing if I get the same issue.
This is doing my head in now!
I flashed 3.2 Stock (rooted) and it picked up the missing Wifi connections. The rom is full of hebrew with silly boot and shutdown animations though. Tried flashing several custom 3.2 ROMS other than that and same issue as before.
Also, added connection manually and stood next to the Wifi antenna at work. Still got nothing. WTH is going on?
I read somewhere that Galaxy tab is not able to connect to some channels of wifi.
I believe it was not working with channels above 11
Try changing the channel and check
Thanks for the reply.
My home network is on channel 3. Plus it doesn't really explain how it can work 1 sec then totally disapear forever. Also doesn't explain how it works with the stock hebrew ROM but not with any others I've tried.
Just trying to find the wireless details for work now so I can change the channel anyway.
Then go with the Hebrew Rom and select English as language

I'd rather have no Wifi than see that nasty looking shutdown animation.
Anyway, problem seems to be semi resolved now.
Changed my wireless from channel 2 to 12, still didn't show. Back to 2, still didn't show. Changed it to 10 and it magically appeared.
Not sure what the work one is on. Still waiting for access.

[Q] Unable to scan for wifi signals no matter what rom/kernel

Okay guys. I'm currently running Eternity 3.0 R39. No matter what kernel I use, no matter what rom I flash (sense or aosp) I cant connect to a wifi source.
Here's what happens.
Wifi is off.
Turn wifi on
Under the wifi toggle on the actually wifi setting it says "scanning" but it's only there for about 1/3rd of a second. I dont get any errors saying that im unable to connect - I just get nothing. WPS wont work either. I'm pretty sure it's a software issue because it was working fine up until I was downloading a rom from my phone while I was cooking dinner the other night, then it just cut out and here I am, unable to connect to or see a wifi point. Anyone have an ideas?

Do a full wipe, use Virus's Superwipe.zip, then flash a stock ROM. Boot into the ROM, skip everything until you get to wifi, connect to your network, then skip the rest (sync, gmail, tell htc). Reboot to recovery(1.4) or fastboot to recovery(1.5). Re flash the superwipe tool, flash the ROM you want. Boot it up and you should be fine.
Starting the process now, I'll let you know how it goes.
Those steps did not work for me. I'm still doing half a second scans and getting nothing. :/ any other ideas?

Hardware issue? Take it to sprint and see what they say about repair, or you can call a supervisor and get them to fix it.

Loss of WiFi connectivity

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S III while on vacation. I didn't really want a US model, since I already had a Galaxy S II and the only compelling reason I would upgrade was for the quad core Exynos.
Well here I am back States-side, and it's been working fine for a week or two. Last night I suddenly lost the ability to connect to WiFi networks.
Basically I can search for a connection, it will show up and say it's "Saved," but it will not connect, even if I manually choose the option. If I choose "Forget" and reconnect, it will connect briefly for a few seconds and promptly disconnect again.
I've tried the usual steps of rebooting, checking my network, etc. I've gone as far as reflashing the firmware which doesn't seem to fix my issue.
I have several other devices and none of those have issues connecting to my wireless network. I've tried a couple different AP products, including an Apple Airport Extreme, a Linksys WRT-600N, and a bunch of really old APs with a different chipset manufacturers, none which seem to work.
For OS, it's currently on Android 4.0.4 with the stock Samsung TouchWiz interface, no carrier customization.
Since returning/warranty for this device is out of the question, I am looking for a possible solution to my issue. I am not a big Android user. I used to be big on Symbian, and now I'm mainly an iPhone user. I have an Android phone to keep up with the times, so to speak. Is it possible I'm missing something? Could I have changed a setting that would cause my wireless issues?
Thanks!
(Tried searching this topic, didn't turn anything up)
I'm having the same problem too. Everything connects except for the S3. If I reboot the router it works for a day or so then the problem re occurs.
If you get disconnected meaning there's interference in the frequency range, you could change the channel so it doesn't overlap with your neighbors' or your other APs, remember any AP operating on the same channel or nearby channels in range is likely to cause signal to interfere with another AP's wifi signal.

I had similar problem. A factory reset fixed it.

I tried another factory reset and I'm still experiencing this issue. I'm a bit bummed out at the moment. I can't connect to other networks either. At least I have cellular data to work with for the time being, but I expect I'll get throttled sooner or later.

I don't think it's an interference issue.
Like I said, none of the other devices have connectivity issues. I haven't really changed my wireless setup for the last 10 years. Always the same channels (with difference channels for each overlapping AP—channels 1, 6, and 11). My cordless phones all use DECT which runs on 1.9GHz and I usually have Bluetooth off when at home. As for neighbors, the distance between our homes are far enough I am never really in range of their networks.
If enabled, turn off power saving
same problem as yours. i've replaced the kernel and still testing.
I have this problem, i think it's hardware problem, just updated the f/w hasn't made it better.
Try adding your wifi manually and select correct security protocol....it resolved an issue like this on my iphone4s.

it doesn't work for the SGS3, it's a known problem, i've checked a few sgs3 and some have this problem including mine, i'm changing my unit tmr.
Has there been any temp fix for this? I've been noticing this a lot more when using WhatsApp, usually you can see the last time your contact has been on, but it only shows if there is a current connection to the internet. When I'm connected to the wireless, it'll show up but after a while, I assume the wireless loses connectivity (sort of) and it won't show the last time they were on. The thing is though, I'm able to get to any pages like normal, so it doesn't actually lose connection.
Why don't you flash a better rom~~
S3 wlan bug
Paranoid Android wlan bug
Hello all together
I need flash PA v2.1 on my SGS 3 !
I have problems with the Galaxy S3 and WLAN simply gets no connection together!
I've already tried all possible steps like Stockrom flash with Odin to the bootloader from the Android 4.0.4 to get! Because it means that even if wifi is broken, you should flash back to flash and then stockrom Paranoid! Wifi can not connect!
I count times on what I've already done everything without success:
ICS 4.0.4 STOCK
wipe data
wipe chache
wipe Dalvik
Permission fix
Flash paranoidandroid
flash gapps jb
flash hw compressor
Wlan ist broken
Then I created a backup of it.
Have again flashed back to stock 4.0.4 ics because I had suspected at the bootloader.
Ics 4.0.4 on it again as everything was wiped and the backup recorded. Again the bow
Then cm 9 installed as described
there is also the wlan bug
from CM9 paranoidandroid
still wifi bug
then back to stock and on CM10
end result
wlan goes
paranoid then flashed wireless bug
then of stock on CM9 on from there and CM10 on paranoidandroid wlanbug
from CM10 by backup still wifi bug.
I just do not know how to fixxen it.
Would appreciate your help very
fix permission reboot
've Tried all sorts of variations but always without success
Please help I really been at a loss why ?!
Am grateful for every tip!

Wifi/Radio Problems on cm10

The short of it is, my Wifi crapped out for reasons beyond my experiences thus far.
The long of it. I flashed epinter's 07/25/2012 Nightly and everything seemed to be working nicely, Wifi especially. Then today, out running errands and dropped my Atrix in my Car Dock and attempted to turn on Bluetooth for the first time since flashing, and the device froze then restarted. Once back up, I tried turning Wifi back on, and the device froze again and restarted. Thinking maybe the radio driver went south, I grabbed epinter's 07/27/2012 build (epinter-cm10-20120727_1846-UNOFFICIAL-olympus.zip), and still no luck. Back into Recovery, Wiping everything and also factory resetting then flashing twice over again, boot up, still no wifi, and if it manages to seemingly fire up, the device hangs and restarts.
Within the last 2 hours (Been at this for about 12 hours now.) I grabbed Jokersax's build (Beta 0.1.0), wiped/reset/flash twice as I have before. Now as I take a breath I noticed that the Wifi Icon came up in the Notification bar, but when I go into Settings and Scan, I see none of the Networks around me. I looked under Advanced and noticed that my MAC Address is 'Unavailable' nor am I showing an IP address, even though Wifi is saying 'On'. Verified on my Router, my Phone is not connected to it.
Odd Side note, installed aLogcat just to see if I could catch any errors, and it is not giving me anything, that is, I am not seeing any logs through the app. Most likely an unrelated issue, but still a tad annoying.
Everything else seems in order, including Mobile Data (Able to access Web Pages, Market/Play Store, receive email, etc.). Just Wifi pretty much 'Lights are on, but no one is Home.'. Any suggestions on next steps?
We discussed this issue over in some other threads and conclusion is that it's a hardware malfunction Ur broadcom chip is burned, many people (including me) had that problem.

I need to really work on my searching, tried several variations of 'atrix WiFi cm10' and could not pin down a related thread.
But back on topic, CRAP! What I was hoping was not the case. Thanks for the reply, will continue to dig for those threads and cross fingers the chip really is not fried (doubtful but hey, people can dream right?).
Thank you for the reply.

I can't search the threads right now as i am typing from my phone-search is limited to 20-30 posts... But keywords for ur search should be : "atrix wifi error" or "wifi and bluetooth error on atrix" Several forums have this kinda threads, not just xda unfortunately ... seems like it's very often malfunction on this lovely phone. I couldn't repair my previous atrix so i bought another one.

We're talking fastboot wipe kind of clean install? Going to give that a go as a last attempt, will post results here.
Glimmer of hope tonight, was discussing the problem with a friend, went to turn on WiFi and it actually scanned and connected for about 2 minutes before crapping out. This tells me there maybe life to the chip still. Now to get fastboot to connect and try a wipe and see what happens.

Any news on this front? I am one of the afflicted as well.
I'm having a similar issue. though my BT works just fine, no delays, no errors, no intermittance.
Wifi, I can scan for networks just fine. i click on mine to connect. it shows connecting, noting that when it says connecting the signal shows 1 bar as compared to the full set of wifi bars when scanning, i am also right next to the AP. is tries connceting for about 20 seconds or so. then goes back to saying "saved" under the SSID, other networks showing "disabled" when this happens. i originally noticed this after flashing epinters cm10. i tried flashing 37p, 36p and 30p radios with no difference.
EDIT: also want to note that i HAVE disabled the "avoid poor connections" option. and have tried setting static IP.
I flashed the same and I am unable to get my wifi to work after clean wipe, radio install or anything else that I have tried. Could software have really burned up a wifi radio????

Mine works occasionally so I don't think the radio is dead. The rom just acts like it's not there most of the time and doesn't give a mac address. Sometimes it works though after a reboot. Would flashing a different radio help? My baseband version says N_01.77.37P
I had an IP and a MAC, but no wifi internet.
Using mobile data, I downloaded Set DNS and then enabled wifi, works fine.
Now it's working but mobile data is going very very slow, it took 5min to download Set DNS.
I have a skyrocket but the "no wifi" issue is probably the same - your not getting DNS
I'm going back to CM9 for now.
+1 wifi matter under CM10
Try rebooting the router.
Experienced same issue (unable to connect, showing full bars, dropping to 1 bar when connecting and never being able to complete a connection) rebooting my router has fixed the issue. I'm not technical but it might have to do with the DNS release for addresses .. in any case unplugging my router for a bit and restarting it fixed the issue for me.

Wifi stops working after a while

From since two weeks ago I am having issues with the wifi in my phone. It happens that whem I am browsing Internet or watching videos with the Wifi on sometimes the phone stops connecting to the Internet. It cant connect, but the Wifi is still working, since the icon shows that it still is activated.
Also, when I restart the wifi conection, it starts working again, and again it stops after a while, which can range for two minutes to one hour.
This started to happen when I flashed Ultima ROM 16.0, but kept happening with oher ROMs I flashed, even with CM 4.2.2. I suspect that this is a problem of the XXUGMK6 modem. What do you think?

Thanks for correcting me. Then what could be the problem of his wifi. How it can be solved ? You have any idea
No but multiple identical posts may give an answer .
Mmm, I dont think this is a kernel issue, maybe because when I reinstalled the CM 10.1, it used cyanogenmods stock kernel and it still gave failures. So all is left to two options: the modem or the Wifi router. What do you think guys?
As a kernel, I use Boeffla Kernel 5.1 beta 7, for Sammy 4.3
