[Q] Set XBMC as only launcher? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm working on a custom rom and I want to know if I could set a modified XBMC (launcher flags enabled) as the default and only launcher, so there's no other launcher except this one. I've tried removing android's default launcher and putting xbmc but when booted into android I get the unlock screen and after that nothing happens, it does not put xbmc as default nor does ask for default launcher app.

2.3.3 web settings & music widget

There used to be an option to choose: android, desktop (user agent). its gone.... anyway to get that back??
Also, the music widget, its there when i use the stock SE launcher but when i use go launcher or any other launcher, there is no music widget in my widget options?? how do i get that back without using stock SE launcher?
nobody has an idea?
That's the browser's problem. I don't think the option was there on 2.1 too, I only get that option with Cyanogen ROMs.
I dont think the default browser supports changing user agents. Try downloading a browser like dolphin browser mini, or Opera.
Also the SE music widget and other SE widgets are Sony launcher specific, meaning that they will not work with other launchers (kind of like the Go widgets).

[Q] Getting rid of Android's default lockscreen

I'm cooking my first ROM, based on GingerScape 001 and using QQ Launcher as default. The QQ Launcher lockscreen is still in beta, but it's (for me) the best looking and more responsive lockscreen around, but it's embeded on the launcher.
My problem is, even when i turn QQ Launcher lockscreen on, sometimes the default Android lockscreen shows up too, so i have to unlock my phone two times.
There is any way i can delete de Android's default lockscreen?! Or maybe extract QQ lockscreen from the launcher and use it as a standalone app?!

replace default launcher

I was wondering if replacing neutrino 2.7 launcher (which is go launcher) was as easy as removing the system launcher.apk and putting another launcher renamed to that.
I wanted to try this as a default launcher:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEwMiwibW9iaS5TeW5kaWNhdGVBcHBzLklDU1BsdXMiXQ..
EDIT: I was also wondering, if someone knew how to change the default lock screen as well, or how to change the theme all together, since my launcherpro wasn't working to change the theme for some reason (after flashing the theme changer enabler)
Just download another launcher, install it, and select to use it as default.
Get Widgetlocker from the market to change lockscreen.

[Q] No possible way to clear default launcher?!

I have a new android phone. I really want to get rid of the horrible stock launcher however I cannot. In application management when I find this piece of stock launcher the clear defaults is grayed out (I am 100% sure this is the launcher). Default management apps show this launcher as the default but again 'clear default' is grayed out. Opening Nova launcher and going into the nova settings and clicking 'set as default launcher' sends me back to stock launcher and has not set the default launcher. At this point I am getting more interested in whether my phone blends or not.
I have tried a bunch of launchers and still I can't set any of them as my default. If they try to set themselves as the default launcher while in them it just quits back to stock launcher. In an application default chooser app that should show the launchers I could be able to use it only had the stock launcher and I cannot unset it, for all other apps it works just fine.
After some testing it looks like the phone does not recognize any launchers (other than stock) and treats them as if they are any other app.

How can I remove shortcuts from the Android (non-desktop) launcher?

I disabled the default desktop launcher in Remix OS.
This gave me a traditional Android-style launcher.
I did this so I could have features like multiple desktops, swipe navigation, ability to use widgets, etc.
The problem is that I cannot remove shortcuts from this alternate launcher. I can only re-arrange them.
If I perform a long-press on a shortcut, the only option available is: "Uninstall".
This makes it impossible to organize my shortcuts.
Remix OS forces every app shortcut to stay on the desktop.
There's no way to remove useless shortcuts I don't need.
Is this by design? Can you all check your launchers and let me know?
I use Nova Launcher, works great for what you are trying to do.

Click to collapse
Yes, it seems the two default Remix launchers are terribly limited.
So I don't understand why they block Nova Launcher (re: Third Party launchers not supported).
Thankfully, I figured out how to use "SD Maid" & got Nova Launcher to work.
I haven't experienced any glitches, and my launcher is now so beautiful & fully customizable.
So it makes me even more confused why Nova Launcher is blocked.
