[Q] Ubuntu software center - Ubuntu Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If you were to make an app for Ubuntu touch, would there be a sign up fee? Android has a $25 sign up fee, and both iOS and Windows mobile have a $99 a year fee. I would think it would be free, but I also thought it would be free for android also.

I think (from what it says here: http://developer.ubuntu.com/publish/) its free but they take 20% of the money earned.

No need to quote OP, but other than that I like that idea. But if I were to get (a little far fetched) $1,000,000 for an app I would only be making $800,000. But if it goes to the development of Ubuntu I wouldn't mind.

Free ATT Galaxy Note + $100 from ATT....

I upgraded to the iphone 4S two months ago. Then the Note came. For some reason ATT let me do the online pre-order for $318( including tax 2/10/12), when i received the Note i put my Iphone 4S onsale CL and sold $500.
The weird thing is until now my credit card have not been charged the $318. I waited for my next bill 2 days ago to expect a charge. But still nothing. I even called ATT for $150 credit from another thread showing the advertise 50% for new/add a line and got only $100 credit to my account.
Anyone have the same situation? Basically i got almost ~$1000 free if i don't have this charge. hmmm. Can't complain if it's really happening
I can't find this deal on att site. I've been looking fir hours. M8be ill call

This. Big companies have a dozen people checking for errors like this, and they DO find them. Id wait at least 2 months honestly.

I would too. I had a similar thing like this screw me over, luckily it was only like $75.
Be careful; they charged my card five days after it shipped.

I can be a little shady, but there is a way to do it if you google it to get it for 15 dollars. I did it, and you have to enter in a computer profile which I entered as a generic Asus laptop, and bam. Beats Vista by a mile, but am liking me some mint, just like you said. Unfortunately, it has a blue screen crash that takes me back to when I was young.

how much is T-Mobile restocking fee?

im about to change carrier and im eyeing the One. i'd like to know how much is the restocking fee for 14days?
50 or 75 I am pretty sure 75.

50$ for sure.. I had to return my s3 grabbed the note 2

Do they charge if there is a problem with the phone? I got my One on Saturday and it has shut off twice on me already. I've never had to return a phone, so I don't know how this restocking fee works.

If it's a reproducible problem you might be able to get out of restocking...if it's intermittent, probably not. The fee is $50.

Does that apply for an exchange as well? Or just a return?

I have a problem with mine too.. but the challenge is finding a place that has them in stock. If it's a problem (they're usually asses about it) they won't charge the restocking fee. It's 50 btw

That's because you can't restock service.

I believe the restocking fee is $50 if you are returning the phone within the 14 days (retail store) or 20 days (t-mobile.com). Now sure if it changes if you are also canceling service.

I'll just go to the store. Thought I might get lucky and find a store employee who knows from experience. It seems that phone reps know nothing about how things work in store.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
It'll be a $50 fee for any exchange unless you can reproduce the issue and are exchanging for the same phone. If you have issues they will exchange it for the same model with no fee charge. If you want a different model, then a fee will be charged. Choose wisely

I am a RSA in a T-mobile Corp Store. From T-Mobiles return/exchange policy there is a $50 fee for return/exchange for most smartphones. Some of the smartphones have a $75 fee like the Note 2 and the Iphone 5. The Manger has to override the restocking fee and most mangers will not override it unless you can show us the problem in the store. There is no known issue right now about reboots in our internal system. I am not saying that it isn't a issue but I have yet to see any HTC One reboot that I have sold. Most of the time if you want to exchange the phone for the same model the fee is removed. If you want to change to a different phone or just do a full return the fee is almost always charged unless we see the problem.

T-Mobile also replaces your phone for one year (refurbished), or if you have the insurance bundle they will always replace it. They send it next day air, then you return the defective phone. It's $5 if you have insurance or $25 if you don't.

Its what we have been told when we tell customers. Its pretty much just like the new PHP costs. If you get PHP for your phone and the full bundle is $11.99 your phone most likely has a $75 restocking fee. I am sure it is because of the cost of the phone. The Note 2 is a $700 phone where the GS3 is a $500 phone. I know the HTC One for PHP is $11.99. We were told to put the $75 restocking fee sticker on the phone for customers to know. Also if you look your re receipt it talks about it there as well. I think T-Mobile calls the $75 ones super phones where the $50 ones are called smartphones.

You might want to check with your manager about that before an angry customer comes in saying you guys lied about the restocking fee and enforcing it at that price when it shouldn't have been.

Old versions of tapatalk gone only new tapatalk and tapatalk pro?

Yep the old one is free..
But I have paid for the old one and tapatalk 4 and now they are both gone from the play store and there is tapatalk pro.... which I have to pay for again?
Really.. I'm not paying for the same program a third time..
I've supported them enough.
I'm off to look for software from a company that will not take my money then stop supporting the software in six months
Is this how it is now? Or am I missing something?

Really, do you buy Windows? What about Microsoft Office? What about adobe products? In what universe does paying 3 dollars entitle you to updates for life? If the dev wants to make the new version paid and the old version free let him and just don't buy the app. But programming isn't easy, it's not exactly completely out of line, it's just against the norm.
For what its worth, the paid version is no longer on the play store.

That's right the paid version is no longer on play store.
You know the paid version I paid for so I don't have to see ads?
The version I want to use..just like the old version of Windows I use because I think Windows 8 sucks..
But even in all their glory Microsoft never forced an update to their new junk by hiding the one I paid for.
I paid cash for software that had been removed from the only place I can get it.
(Is the classic one ad free? Is it someplace easy to access, can I install it with out changing my settings? No)
That is completely out of line.

The paid version was in the store on October 7, removed from the store on October 8, and then back again with a fresh update and a price tag on October 9.
A representative from Tapatalk advised me on the 8th that there was no longer a paid version at all, that it was free for everyone. But quite obviously they lied. I'm very unimpressed.
I don't deny that you have a point about how various windows products have similar business models that force you to pay for the latest versions. It's just not something we normally see in Play, and the fact that they're being shady about it adds to the frustration.

I don't know if anyone still has it, but it was discontinued because the exploit was patched by HTC.

No. It will not. It relied on a server side pc during the exploit. That has been shut down specifically because of people who 1) failed to comprehend that it NEVER worked on every phone and 2) people who *****ed about the $25 for sunshine.
That said, if you want s-off and everything you can do once s-off pay the $25 and support the team who makes it possible. No other team has made a software s-off possible.

$25 will buy you three full meals at McDonalds. What would you rather have: 1) fleeting gastral satisfaction that will result in a few extra pounds on your body and a phone that remains to be unrooted and unlocked, or 2) an unlocked and rooted phone, no extra pounds of fat, and continued support for the people who make unlocked bootloaders possible on this phone and possibly a phone you buy in the future.
Do you know how many phones they bricked and how much time they spent to find these exploits?
