[Q] Rezound internal memory - HTC Rezound

I installed INFECTION 2.9.1 over my rooted ICS installation, but decided I liked the look of the ICS sense better, so I decided to restore my nandroid image of ICS. It booted up but got stuck on the screen right after the white HTC one. I flashed back to jellybean and tried a FACTORY RESET. It reboots me into RA-VIGOR with the error message "E:Invalid command argument"
I can boot back into jellybean but now it is telling me there is NO INTERNAL memory. Where did it go?
Have I killed my phone here?

No you just didnt read threads or previous quiestions...upon moving from stock to a 4.2 based rom you got the bug from memory on that...you need to switch to twrp if not on that and mount and partition your emmc and internal sd card....this has been a known bug for the longest time now....dont use Amon Ra (RA-VIGOR) as it gives bugs on rom installs for any rom really and it doesnt play nice....such as possible phone overheats, battery drain, and many random reboots even after not upping your min frequency

Yep, you are right, I did not read previous threads as I did not know there was a problem with Amon Ra when I first installed it. The Infection 2.9.1 thread recomemended using it! Anyhow, I have since got a message pop up on the screen that said something about bad memory and told me to format it. I did, and now I can see my internal storage again. It is now empty of course, but what was on it when it was factory ? Is there anywhere I could get a copy of those files from?

the files you had on it prior to formatting? no....unless you know how to use pricey data recovery software

Yep, the software that was on it before formatting. It was just whatever default files were on the phone from the factory, and I assume some of them files were to restore the phone to factory. Is there anywhere I could find those files and just copy them back to the phone?

Oh, so I don't need any of the files that were on the internal memory then? That would be good. Hey, as you seem to be very knowledgeable about all this (and i'm most definatly not , what I ultimatley would like is jellybean with the sense clock and weather . I also noticed from the infected rom that the camera did not report how many pictures could be taken with the available memory left. Is there is a rom out there can satisfy my needs? The phone is S-on BTW
Thanks for all your help so far

if you mean internal as in the 10gb usable memory that pictures and stuff store to than thats cool....dont delete anything in the root of system if thats what you mean...ill look into the specifications you want...ive seen a few...as far as sense clock and weather there is a few apps you can download in the market that replicate it and is themable

Yes, it is the internal 10gb that I meant. For a while it was not showing, either on the phone or in windows. After the message on the phone came up to format it (which I did) I could then see it in both windows and on the phone. I had not taken any notice of what was on it beforehand. I have only had the phone for a couple of weeks as it was given to me by a friend who was cut off from Verizon for not paying his bill !! I shoved in a TMOBILE sim from a spare phone I had and it works just fine for making calls but only Edge for data (not that it matters as I have a Optimus L9 for data)
Any info you could find would be most appreciated.

to go back to stock you actually have to first s-off and unlock the bootloader....also 4.2 reboots furiously if you dont set things up right...try a 4.3 rom like Tachyon or Carbon Rom....on either one of those ive yet to have a randoom reboot on proper settings that i set up

I was looking at the Tachyon rom yesterday as it happens, but I read somewhere that in 4.3 they changed something with the way memory is handled? and that you can no longer select the external SD card in the camera app, only the internal memory. Is that right?

yes but to be honest....stock is the same exact way
Edit...if your looking for a good fresh fast and to have everything work but base build go with tachyon....if your looking for fully customizable everything thats fast and stable go with carbon rom or pac 4.3....also you can download and replace the stock gallery with one that does save to internal sd card which is 10gb...you can always transfer to external sd as well as to a pc

[Q] Boot Manager Issues. About to rip my hair out.

title shows the way it is...i've had it UP TO HERE with Boot manager.
I love the HTC Sense 4.1 camera on Newts HTC One XxX ROM but I dont like the bloaty sense framework that It has...right now i'm running AOKP 1.6 Linaro because it's fast and has no sense. unfortunately, I can't have both..and I found out that an app can "dual boot" your phone into 2 separate ROMS so that you can enjoy both. However i've been having NOTHING but PROBLEMS with boot manager. What started off as a simple idea has become a curse spewing nightmare
I'm s-Off and running Snuzzo's kernel from AOKP 1.6
1. I've searched the forums and done everything that other people have said
2. I'm using the Lite Version of Boot Manager since I only need one slot.
3. I have errors with "Error building new boot.img"
4. Disabled SU Logging and even wiped and tried SuperSU instead! (with logging disabled of course)
5. tried to install slot 1 via Zip file AND NANDROID BACKUP. Still having issues!
6. When installs are successful with no errors, when rebooting into the SDCARD Rom it just hangs at the HTC splash screen. mocking me.
7. Tried installing from external and internal storage..same problems...and i'm having a flip flop issue as well in regards to that..**
I'm at my wits end and am about to scrap this whole dual boot idea
**What I will say is that file explorer apps show my SD card as Internal Storage. and the internal storage shows my SDcard files...dafuq?! maybe SD card format?? that's for another forum question though...
If anyone can help me get this to work..I'll thank you and be sure to buy the app. But as for now...I'm glad I didn't spend my damn money!

From what ive heard the app has been abandoned by the developers. I wanted to dual boot too but I got the same error with the error building new boot.img as well so i quit trying. btw are you s-off? the app requires s-off so it can flash the other boot.img of the Sd roms.

yes..I'm S-Off and recently in April of this year the developer made an update to support the Rezound. So even if the app has been abandoned for future devices....it supports the Rezound...and I've looked in the forums and people HAVE got it working on the Rezound. Same with me it was part of the reason i went to s-off. Hopefully sometime in the future the dev of the app can update it to fix the bugs.

what about the other people that have got it working???...how come they didn't have to quit?
Maybe the AOKP ROM i'm using is bad (since the SD CARD and INTERNAL MEMORY labels are switched and it possibly is confusing the boot partition)...perhaps I should try installing the AOKP Rom on sense
Took me a few tries but I did this :
Use ext4
Use internal sd
Force screen on
Install from nandroid
For me it's actually easier to just restore nandroids if u wanna jump from one rom to another..
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Squirrel is right ot much easier to just make a nandroid and bounce back and forth..

In AOKP the labels are switched..so use the bullet option "external SD" because the internal SD is labeled as the external.
INTERESTING: when I set boot manager to install to internal (i have to select "external) it STILL installs it to the sdcard but in a folder that says sdcard/sd-ext.
NOT to the actual internal memory. I will move that folder to the real internal memory when the install finishes and see if it will work. If not. I'm almost POSITIVE that the switched Internal Memory and SD card labels in AOKP are to blame...and it that's not the problem. boot manager can f$#k itself.
Edit: I fuking quit. I did everything and the install worked from a sense ROM.but it past the splash screen and hung at a black screen.
I'm such a whore for screencast and that 4.1 Sense camera..i'll stay with One xXx for a while (even though sense ROMS are against my grain)
Boot manager hasn't worked properly with aosp since the mount points were fixed in aosp. It's the way it differs from sense. Using emmc as internal unlike sense which It's mounted as sd card. You can use it to switch between sense roms all you want to but not aosp
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Xparent SkyBlue Tapatalk 2
im not sure if this is one of the problems but i noticed when i tried to use it earlier that it asked if i was on the newest hboot (2.21) or an older one but we are actually on 2.27 so that could be messing with things
I used to use Boot Manager with 2.25 with no issues, and there isn't much difference between 2.25 and 2.27.
I'm in a very similar boat....I have a recent ota RUU and s-off and bootmanager actually installs for me (yay) but I never have data. EVER. Data never works for any slot roms, only for my phone rom. I hear this is because of AOKP vs sense. My phone rom is Viper rom, and I tried to put AOKP linario for my slot 1. It installs and boots fine but I dont have data. I also tried MIUI but again no data. However if I put them on my phone rom, I have data. I figured I put it on the phone rom, make a nand, put viper back as my phone rom, then nand restore MIUI or linario to a different slot ..... no go - still no data. I think I read here that at this point I can only user boot manager to switch between sense roms and not between aokp/sense.
If it's also true that they dropped support for it I will be extremely sad. I paid for an app that doesn't even work/have suppor then .......
I actually just pm'd both devs the other day. I'd have emailed but their email rejects anything saying "over quota" or something. And their forums give me a 500 http server error.
If you make and headway let me know because I'm lost too

[Q] flush-179:0 eating CPU (and battery)

Hi,
My EVO 4G LTE is S-OFF. I've been running FreshROM 5.3.1 since it was released without issue. Last Thursday I started getting a lot of backround app crashes. Not a big deal, I wiped, reloaded the ROM, then restored everything via Titanium Backup pro. All was well for a couple of days.
Yesterday, my battery died within about 3 hours. Normally, I go over 16 hours. After some investigation and I found a process 'flush-179:0' eating CPU (and battery). I've wiped, flashed again, even flashed different ROMs. It's still there; every time.
I found one post on XDA where someone said it was caused by a performance tweak app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016993). Their fix was to flash stock, radios, etc. then root again. I haven't used any apps to tweak anything. So, if it's a similar cause...data/config corruption?
Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know of a fix?
Thanks!
I'm not familiar with this specific issue but you mentioned that you restored everything using titanium backup. If you are experiencing problems I would strongly recommend NOT restoring all data as you may be restoring that very same issue. If you don't want to have to start all over then at least only restore just apps and data. Never system data.

Of course, the problem is that it's there when I wipe and flash a new ROM (Fresh, Rejuvenated, etc.). Even before I load my data via TB.

I think I will; this seems to fit with the latest info I just figured out.
I flashed Fresh again, and suddenly started getting the warning about the SD card being damaged and to format it (as we know, that's not the external SD card). No matter how many times I format it, the error comes back. From some other searching, the 'flush-179:0' process seems to have something to do with storage, maybe because it can't read that partition it's causing issues.
I updated the firmware and radio, still no luck.
So I tried loading another ROM (I went with Mean Bean). That fixed the issue with the SD Card partition being unreadable/unformatable. Maybe that was caused by multiple flashes
But, the flush-179:0 process is still eating CPU and battery.

As far as I can tell, it's part of Fresh 5.3.1 and other ROMs I had on my SDCard that are based on the old OTA. The latest Mean Bean doesn't have the same issue after wipe & flash.
I emailed flipz (the Fresh dev), though who knows if/when he'll get back to me. For now, I'm thinking about running MeanBean for a while.
You really can't go wrong with mikeyxda and his mean series of ROM's. That man consistently puts out quality work. No doubt about it.

You nailed it. I was having issues with the flush-179 system process taking up 100% of my CM10's (JB) CPU time. It got so bad that I couldn't even reboot or shutdown without pulling the battery, which of course caused other problems. Initially I thought the "System" process was just out in the weeds, but by using OS Monitor and unchecking "Hide System Process", I was able to find the flush-179 culprit.
My first clue that it might be SD card-related was obtained after opening a terminal window and typing 'mount'. The line for /mnt/sdcard showed (paraphrased):
# mount
...
/dev/block/vold/179:65 /mnt/sdcard vfat rw,dirsync,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,...
...
Realizing that a "flush" process probably had something to do with filesystem caching and seeing the "179" in the mount output, I focused on my SD card. After pulling the card, backing it up, formatting, and restoring it in Windows, I am happy to report that my little Android has been fast, snappy, and problem-free for several days now.

Broken Amaze to bare fundamentals of owning a phone

Today, I wanted to flash myself to the "stock RUU" provided by Wind Mobile for my HTC Amaze (4.0.3). Since I no longer had the stock recovery to flash this and, for some reason my phone had cleared the backup I made of HTC sense, I decided to use a trick I read on the forums. This trick some of you may had heard is to Relock the bootloader. Which I did using Hasoon2000's Amaze All in one tool kit. My problem after I had done that was it displayed a "Security Error" in the Bootloader and, each time I turned off the device it will put me in the bootloader with that devastating message. So being the person I am I panicked and, reverted back to what I knew before. So I had unlocked the bootloader again, without having access to Android so far. Now as I turned on the phone, I was greeted with the Cyanogenmod 10 bootscreen. I had thought that it was over. However I could have not been more wrong. It would not get passed the screen. I kept it there for a good hour. Again I knew my next course of action is to go into my recovery which is 4ext for your information. It took longer then usual to get into the recovery. In the past it only took the recovery to the count of 11 to get in however this time at the count of 21 . "Please wait! Recovery takes a long time booting without access to /internal_sdcard" at around the count of 42 it says "Error mounting sdcard" Then the recovery booted into safemode. In safe mode I cannot run backups recoveries or anything. After a bit of looking around at what I can and cannot do I decided to wipe the cache and, return to factory settings. This seemed to work because, Now I can boot into Cyanogenmod 10. However I am now encountering my roadblock. Apps and, the system cannot access the SD saying it is not mounted. Which I find ridiculus because, I had been able to save my Google Account, It synced my settings and, background and, gave me my wifi pass code. I am also to set alarms and, rearrange icons on my homescreen. Now I am not entirely sure but, I am almost certain to does kind of changes you need to write to the internal memory. Another odd thing is I can flash recoveries onto the device from my PC using Hasoon2000's tool. Which from what I remember while dragging files to my phone a week before this is saved to the internal storage. Unfourtionatly I think the worst that there is some corruption on the phone storage. All I know is I cannot install Apps,Can not access my storage in anyway but, use all basic services like phone calls text messages and, data. If any of you have encountered this problem and, fixed it please tell me I am stuck with a crippled phone for another year until I have the ability to purchase another.
Thank you for reading all this I wanted it to be in detail so I won't need to write it later on. Hope this issue can be solved ASP but, I am not picky as of when it can get fixed. If you skimmed it please read it all the way through.

I have not tryed to but it maybe possible since 4ext does show me I have a possibility to format my card. However I am afraid if I do this and, it does not work I maybe left with a pretty serious softbrick. So I need to be insured that I won't brick my device before I get to doing that. Thank you for the suggestion I will take it into account as a last ditch effort if nothing else which seems more favorable to me comes in.(or if I can build up the courage to do it which ever one comes first)
Are you s-on? I don't think you can flash ruu of you are. You need to place the ruu on you SD card and rename it to PH85IMG (for t mobile, may be different for wind). Install it from boot loader. Search the return to stock thread for more info

Thank you over much for posting a reply however, my current problem is that my Amaze won't read or write to the phones storage. (Or mount the internal storage) However, thanks for telling me this it will come in handy once I fix my current issue.

You have to do that on the external card. Try putting the stock ruu on a micro sd and rename it PH85img and then boot into bootloader.

[Q] Really need help

So, I've had quite a long night trying to accomplish what seems to be such an easy task for every one else. My main goal for tonight was to root my HTC One and install a custom ROM, preferably ARHD 4.3. This was unfortunately not the case. This is my first time handling anything along the lines of rooting a phone or doing anything like that.
I started off by unlocking the bootloader and then moving on to install TRWP as my custom recovery image. Once I rooted my device after that, I started looking up custom ROM's only to find out that I would need to install firmwares before I installed the ROM's, which required me to pretty much re-do every thing above.
Here's where the problems began to happen. I had to try and get my S-On to go to S-Off and I got errors everywhere. Either I got an error trying to do one guide via terminal command inside of an app on the device, or my model number didn't show up on available methods. I don't even know, all I know is I never got to actually succeed with getting my thing to S-Off, therefore I never could do any firmware installs.
I then read that the Google Edition 4.3 only needed the radio to be installed via firmware so I thought hey, I bet this ROM is perfect for me. But, then I read that you still need the firmware upgrade to be stable.
My actual question because I'm just overall sick of this and it's beginning to scare me that I've ruined my phone and I'll never get it to how it used to be;
I just want to go back to how my phone was. Factory settings across the board. However, I have no idea how to do this and the 2 backups I had in TRWP aren't showing in the recovery, however they are showing in the ES file manager within the Google Edition 4.3 ROM.
Please help, this is starting to freak me out. I had to pay $600 for this phone off contract and I made a dumb ass decision tonight.:crying:
You don't have to install firmware for any custom rom and you may never have to.

Really? What exactly is firmware and why is it not needed? On the ARHD custom ROM threads, it says at the bottom that it is not needed, but recommended. I also read people's comments saying if the firmwares aren't installed, then you lose stability for your custom ROM's. Is that true and if so how?
I currently have the Google Edition 4.3 ROM and it seems to be workng fine without the Radio firmware. I just don't know what is needed and what isn't. But, my device has the bootloader unlocked, TRWP installed, fully rooted and Google Edition ROM 4.3 installed.
Am I okay?

You are FINE, that's the same set up I have basically. Unlocked BL, Root, TWRP and sinless GE rom from the International forums. I have never touched s-off or any firmwares/radios.
I've run nearly every sense and GE rom in the One forum and never had an issue.
In theory I suppose the upgraded firmware could be better but I haven't heard of any real benefits of doing it. And have had no issues without it so it seems kinda pointless.

Oh wow, thanks a ton for the reply. That made me feel a ton better. I've been panicking about this.

No problem... I was worried to when the firmware update came out and devs started putting little disclaimers in their posts about recommending it. I'd be willing to bet that there are more people in these forums with s-on and stock firmware flashing away without issues.

My only concern right now is that I have a tad bit lower free space now that I've made backups and flashed my ROM and such. The stock HTC One comes with 32GB but you get about 27GB~ to use. Before I did anything I'm fairly certain I had roughly 25-26GB of free space. Now I have 20GB. Could this be from the backups taking up a lot of space? I have 3.

ummmm... yes if the backups are stored on phone
backups backup everything on the phone... so you saved 5gb in copies 3 times...you're lucky they are compressed
You should really have just one copy saved on a safe pc or flash drive

Well, when I tried to put the backups on my phone by copying and pasting them, it only pasted some of the stuff inside of it and not all of it. It was weird but it didn't let me paste all of the inside contents onto my computer.

That's strange I've transfered backups before without issue. I would try again, it may have just been an anomaly.
I would recommend keeping at least a stock as possible backup on your phone to be safe.
Personally I keep 3 backups: a stock AT&T one, an InsertCoin Sense edition, and a SinlessROM Google edition.
The resulting space is enough for me, if your worried about space your only option is to keep the other two on your PC, not really a way around it.

Well, I have a backup that is only an unlocked bootloader + root with the stock AT&T ROM, however I don't see any possible way of putting it onto my computer since I can't access the file from my computer. Originally the backups were in the TRWM folder in the internal storage on my computer, but then they stopped showing up in the backups through TRWP so I had to move them to /data/media/TRWP instead of 0/data/media/TRWP or whatever.
I'm not sure if that makes sense because it barely does to me either.

Ya I know there are issues with storage going from 4.1 to 4.2. I'd recommend getting a good file explorer from the play store (I recommend es file explorer) use that to find your backups... Just search "backup" using the search function if you need to. Then copy the backups somewhere you can see them with your computer like to the root of your storage. From there copy to your computer.

Just like fandroid I have a copy of a Stock GPe 4.3 and an Stock AT&T version backup on a usb drive that i keep safe and as for the firmware and s-off/s-on at first i had a little trouble with getting s-off but i tried it 3 or so more times then on the the 2nd or 3rd time (I can't remember) it worked and i got the new firmware and it has been all good for me.

[Q] Major Issues!!!

I have done all the things in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632730
Everything "seemed" fine until I tried using WiFi, I actually have to hit the wifi button and then restart my phone for the wifi to actually work, weird...
Besides that, the phone has just been restarting itself and it's happening more and more. And lately, it's wicked slow with just about everything I try to do... its just super glitchy. So I thought that maybe starting from scratch would be the best way to make things right, and then re-root...
But doing this caused many questions while reading through the forum and I'm hoping that someone can help point me in the right direction...
I guess the most important questions are:
Do I wipe the phone and do a clean install, going back to stock first?
If so, because I have followed the instructions in the link above, what are the exact steps so that I don't brick it?
Should I just buy a new phone?
If I did a clean install and then re-root will it run better than it is now?
I have many more questions but I think answering these first will help out a lot...
Thanks to whoever can help me out...

Edit: I installed the new Dodol Launcher and miraculously my WiFi is working again! So I uninstalled the Nova Launcher... I am happy that I can toggle my wifi settings once again =) But I read something extremely upsetting about 2mins ago in regards to the people with unlimited data which I have, and that is, we cannot use third party apps to tether the hotspot if we did the 4.3 update!!!??? Does anyone know if this is true? I thought that I couldn't tether because my phone is somehow screwed up, not because they blocked me from using it...

Thanks lacoursiere18!
After I get back to ramc3 and reunlock do you know how can I stop the OTA from popping up and trying to get me to install it? I want to be able to tether a mobile hotspot, so I need to stay on this one (because of the unlimited data), I think...?
On another note (no pun intended), I was starting the backup process and noticed that the phone has 10.3GB of internal storage, but when I add up all the folders it only amounts to 2.24GB! Does that mean that the OS is taking up 8GB!??? It just seems like a bit much and I can't see anything, there were no hidden folders or system files that I could find either... weird...

Try backing up your data and then reformat it through your phone settings. If that doesn't work you might want to reflash the ROM. Or go into the settings and remount it that way. But if it worked fine before you flashed the ROM I would reflash....

I had no luck with the memory card back up because I had to format my sd card as expat for version 22. Do you know of any way I could email the developer of my Rom to see if there is a fix or update on the way to fix this. It says I have to wait to have 10 posts.

It has to be the something to do with the format of the memory card and the ROM. My twrp recovery reads that all of my stuff is still there. It's just the version of the ROM that doesn't. Any ideas?
