Formated All With Cwm Recovery, Now I Can't Upload Cyan .zip - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I formated everything with ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.2.9, format /sdcard, etc. But this also formated my external SD, deleting the CyanogenMod .zip inside.
I try "mount USB storage" and Windows shows nothing. What can I do?

ODIN
try to get into download mode and flash the rom with ODIN
or get the sd card out of the phone and stick it on a other phone.
good luck
PS: if you don't know how to get into downlaod mode on the samsung galaxy s2:
VOL Down + Home Button + Power Button
and wait

Never used ODIN, I used Heimdall to flash the ClockworkMod Recovery.
I just want to insert "cm-10.1.3-i9100.zip" in my phone in some way, but how? I don't have a 2nd phone at the moment.

do you own a Mac, Heimdall is almost the same just do this:
Step 1:
Run Heimdall
Step 2:
go to utilities tab
and click on detect device or the detect button and the you should see some message that is connected
Step 3:
Create the pit file by clicken save as on the downlaod pit file
Step 4:
got to Flash tab (because "Load package" tab doesn't work without firmware.xml and some roms doesn't have that)
choose the pit file you just downloaded
Step 5:
unzip the rom you downloaded in your case cyanogenmod
Step 6:
click add (still on the flash tab)
Step 7:
where it says partition name add each file that was in the zip there.
if you find it hard to understand watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7u-iUo5C6M

Most newer PCs come with a memory card reader built in.
If you use a removable micro SD card, it should have come with an adapter that turns it into a full sized SD card. You can put this combo into the card reader, re download the ROM then copy to the card and flash as normal 'in phone'......
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

I build my PC myself, no SD reader.
So, there is no way I can just copy the zip in my phone with a USB cable?
What about the "adb sideload"? I tested and don't show my device, maybe I installed it wrong?
Can I copy things to the phone in download (odin) mode?

no but you can flash new roms en kernel :l

Somebody on here posted that you can mount SD card (or something) from within cwm and copy the ROM direct from your PC to your phone that way....(it's been a while since that post so I can't remember exactly which storage volume was mentioned)

Already tried similar method, but didn't worked.

Good to see you Keith! Hope everything is well mate :good:
Yes, from CWM, go mounts & storage > mount usb storage. From there, you can plug your phone into PC and transfer whatever you want to the SD card.
Using ADB push is also a really nice way of doing it, good job OP. Please add [Solved] to the title of your post.

[Q] phone does not boot

Hi
I am on Wolfs TW Gingerbread. I went in xrec and formated system + cache and clicked on fix permissions. Then I have restarted the phone and it stucks on the Sony Ericsson logo. I can't even enter xrec.
But the real problem is that my usb doesn't work and i cannot connect the X10 to my laptop. Is there a way to fix it somehow without connecting to a computer?

You have formatted system???!!! That an anwer why you stucked on SE logo
Now you have to download ROM again, place its zip on sdcard and flash it again. You dont need usb cable.
How to install it? I can't enter xrecovery

You have to get your usb port fixed, I don't think you can enter anything since you've formatted your system.
Follow these steps because you cannot connect your phone to the computer:
1. Get your memory card in a card reader.
2. Connect it to PC and copy the rom file in the memory card.
3. You cannot enter recovery because maybe you formatted your memory card too, find a tutorial on how to install x-recovery manually on youtube and install it in the memory card using the card reader.
4. Place the card back in your phone and press the back key as soon as you see the SE logo. You should now be able to install the rom via zip in x-recovery .
I hope this detailed info would helps you.

I am almost surethat this wouldnt help him. X-recovery (and other recoveries) are placed on system partition (you can see that manual installation of xrec was to place some files and chmod in system root FS), so he formated recovery also.
As told before, now you need to fix usb port first. Because only solution is flashmode flash with Flashtool. No other way dude, sorry..

Go into TWRP and adb push a rom.
There is also USB storage under mounts.

You could always go back to stock ATT firmware. Download the LGNPST and the firmware and then put your phone into download mode and flash it. This will overwrite your recovery with stock stuff but at least you will have something running so you can start over.

If you have an OTG cable you can also load a ROM onto a USB flash drive and connect it to your phone via the OTG cable. TWRP will need to be set to "External SD" in order to see it. I had to do that with my Nexus 7 when I did something similar.
Edit: Duh, I'm an idiot. It would be far easier to unmount your microSD card with TWRP, take it out of your phone, put it in a SD adapter, then load the ROM to the card from your PC, put it back in your phone, remount it in TWRP and then set it to "External SD" to flash the ROM. Provided you don't have an OTG cable, but do have a SD adapter.

Dude, all you have to do is mount your storage, download which ever Rom u want on your computer and transfer it to your phone. Then do the wipes and flash the rom.
i did that once, thats y i keep copies of my fave roms on my extSD, twrp can read from the extSD and flash from that. i've done nocturnal and slick from flashed from my extSD not internal and it worked just fine, if u prefer tho twrp can copy the file to the internal storage and u can flash that. if u dont have any roms on ur extSD just plug that into the comp and copy a rom to it then restart in recovery and flash away...same idea as baron but using the extSD instead of mounting storage and plugging the phone into the computer

Won't boot via memory card if not connected to USB cable

I have a weird one. I have rebuilt my Nook and followed the directions about how to make the SDcard active, the flag is correct and everything. It will load the loader if I power it on via a powered USB cable but when I try to power it off and back on without the cable, it goes directly into the original nook tablet OS. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

now it seems u know the steps already but im reposting in case u missed something.....i had the same problem. i found that some NT's only respond to this exact file that i will provide. use my files in this step and get back to me. REMEMBER TO READ ALL STEPS I PROVIDED IN CASE U FORGOT SOMETHING
step1- download (https://www.mediafire.com/folder/dd1cwv3uw0u18/NOOK TABLET) <<-----sdboot.zip and cwm.zip
step2-download minitool partition wizzy
step3-put sd card into computer
step4-using minitool, delete partition, create partition (make primary, and fat32), right click on sd card (usually F set flag to active and change partition ID type to 0x0c fat32lba and then click apply. (IN THAT ORDER)
step5-once parted copy from the sdboot attatchment provided to sd card, the recovery.img, MLO,flashing_boot, and u-boot. Also put the cwm emmc.zip provided as well into sdcard.
step6-put sd into nook, MAKE SURE NOOK OFF BEFORE U PUT IT IN OR U WILL HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, then plug nook into computer via usb cord, be patient and wait for nook to boot, once it finally boots, U MUST BE VERY QUICK AND PRESS "N" THE SECOND CYANOBOOT POPS UP, GO TO SDC RECOVERY NOT INTERNAL RECOVERY. that will load up sd cwm, once it is up it will now let u install the cwm i provided. install it.
step7-once this is done unplug it from comp, turn off, and repeat steps 3-6 (BUT THIS TIME ADD THE CYANOGENMOD 10.+ YOU WANT TO USE IN THE SD CARD AS WELL ALONG WITH THE CORRECT GAPPS) once sd cyanoboot pops up choose internal recovery instead of sdc recovery. install cm10+, gapps, and the internal cwm emmc.zip i gave u as well for good measure.
step8- once done take out sd card and reboot regularly with/without usb doesnt matter. u should be good...........it seems like alot but its actually rly fast when u got the hang of it.

[Q] Help! No ROM, USB not recognised!!

Hi all,
First off, get the laughs out the way. Not posted on here before but used the forum a lot over the past year or so and i desperatley need someones help.
Long story short.
1) Currently i can only access CMR 6.0.3.2
2) I have no ROM available on int SD due to doing a system wipe while flashing Cyanogenmod 11 nightly which failed due to Status 7 error ( did not think this error would happen!)
3) My PC & Laptop will not recognise the S3 through USB despite all correct drivers being correct.
4) CMR will not let me mount the 8GB ext SD card. I have tried formatted to NTSC and Fat 32 and both not mounting, get the mount error message.
To sum it up, im fooked. I cannot access the int SD to drop a ROM on it and cannot access the Ext SD card through recovery which DOES have a ROM on it.
Do any ofyou fantastic people have any idea what i can do apart from dress it up nicely and make an ornament out of it?
Thanks!

Yes Scott. Do not make an ornament out of it!
Okay, serious .. download the ROM of your region from sammobile.com. Install Odin on your laptop. Boot your S3 in download mode. Flash the firmware from sammobile.com on your phone using Odin.

Sorry, I thought that your phone will get recognized when in Odin mode or download mode. I am afraid I am out of tricks for now, but let me search and get back to you in case I find anything
Hello Scott,
Can you enter in Download mode on phone?
"First shut down your device, then power on by simultaneously pressing the power button, home button and volume down key. Now you will see download mode and you will be asked if you want to cancel or continue. Press volume up to continue or volume down to cancel and reboot."
For that part you don't need connection to PC (yet).
If u succeed entering in download mode, then use the link that Hamza posted, to restore your device through Odin
HI!
Its no problem to get in to download mode but as the laptop and PC will not recognise my S3, neither does Odin.
The very 1st think i knew to do was to try and flash a stock ROM via Odin, but sadly can't
I've flashed ROM's a lot however it was a rookie mistake not to make a backup on this occasion that was accessable in this situation. My backups and ROMs are on the Ext SD card....
Ive searched and the only 2 outcomes i can see to resolve are to mount my Ext SD card, which i can't do on CMR or to make the handset visible o use Odin or to drop a ROM on the Int SD but again, can't.

Tried various USB cables and nada. Due to this Odin, Kies or anything will else will not recognise the handset and that's on a PC and a Laptop.
As for the Mass Storage in recovery, the version of CMR doesn't have that option otherwise i would have tried!
I was focusing more on trying to mount the Ext SD card on CMR. Is there any suggestions on this? Tried NTFS and Fat 32 with varying cluster sizes but not happening. Any other suggestions?

Fat32 should work, not sure about NTFS... Did u tried another card? Or removing battery and reinserting after SD card format?
Thanks for all the suggestions.... Had a family emergency.
Tried everything, i now think that there is a hardware issue with the phone as its a Code 43 error whenever i try to update the driver so the handset can talk to my PC. Seen as this option looks fooked i can only now and try to figure why the Ext SD wont mount on CMR and how to resolve it.
If i can;t then no option but to send it to the big warehouse in the Sky,
Just to exclude, did you tried another SD card?

Extra note 3 stuck at recovery booting!

I have an extra note 3 phone and when I plug it in and hold the power button down it comes on but only shows the Samsung screen in silver with the words up top left recovery booting..... In blue letters And then it will go black. And if I push the power, home and volume up or down instead of going into recovery or download mode it just vibrates and shows the Samsung in silver and recovery booting.... In blue and then goes black again every once and a while I can get it to make a sound like I took a screen shot. but it just gets hot until the battlery dies. So I wish I could fix it and sell it but I don't know what else to do so any help would be appreciated.
I think it's a timing thing. As soon as you feel that vibration press volume down and home key. Try it a couple of times. It happened to be once.
No I've tried that I'm good about the whole timing thing to get in to either mode. So not sure still I saw a thread on an unbrick image that you can put on an sd card and it boots from that but I have no clue on how it is done.

True there is a thread on that, but you have to be able to get into recovery, stock or custom so that you can toggle to the sd card. So just to be clear, you are holding down the power button, volume down button, and the home button at same time under constant pressure until a screen with a yellow triangle comes up asking if you want to go to download mode by pushing the volume up button or reboot the device by pushing the volume button down.
BTW here is a way to do it without toggling to your sd card. Here is the link for a SM-N900P unbrick img. for your sd card http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2651696&page=2 go to post #19 and download the file to your PC desktop, remove the sd card from your device and install in the adapter that allows it be installed in your PC. (black plastic adapter that comes with ext sd card) First, backup all data on sd card to PC. Format/erase your SD Card, then copy and paste .img file to sd card, install back in phone and boot up device. Once phone is booted, and settled down a minute power down device. Pull sd card, boot phone into download mode and use odin to flash a fresh copy of NC5 on phone. install sd card back in PC and format/erase it, now install back in device and all is back to normal.
Got the info from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600869 but you don't have to create the boot img file someone already did it in the link above on post #19.
Thanks for this. But no I can't get in recovery or download mode. So can I still do it if I can't get in download mode? Also I need to buy another sd card to use I don't want to use the one in my current phone. And the only other one I have is a 2gb sd. Also I have formatted a sd card once before to fat32 but I have forgotten how to do the formatting. How big of an sd card do I need?
Ok so I read the links and it seems I need a 16 or 32 gb sd card and I can just format the sd card on my current working phone in setting/ more storage. Hope fully this will work thanks so much for the help.

Ok, but you are talking about a ext sd card in your working device, right? If so just copy the entire sd card via your usb cable to a file on the desktop of your PC. Then format/erase the sd card and copy the SM-N900P unbrick img file to the sdcard and install in the bricked device and boot it up. Then Odin the stock NC5 through download mode and once it is up and running, erase the sdcard via usb cable to PC. Put the sd card in the other device and copy the files back from desktop file, and all should be ready to go.
Before you do all this. Try booting to download mode. If you can get to download mode you can push a recovery image again via Odin. That would fix issue or even flash nc5 tar to go back to factory
