Weird ringtone behaviour on self-made ringtones - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all
I made a ringtone for one of my contacts which i am using for both calls and messages.
And it seems to work everywhere except for WhatsApp.
In whatsapp the ringtone starts and then gets started again. Basically interupting itself.
Do you know what I mean? It doesn't play through once but starts and then restarts before finishing. I tried shortening it and lengthening it. No effect.
Does anybody know if there is some way to fix this? Do i need to set a certain flag/tag?
Thank you guys!

Sms Ringer Problems

Actually I have two different issues that are somewhat related...First, i think he's talking about the text message ringer. For example...if i set a ringtone to my text messages(songs that is) and i recieve a text message, there is now way to shut the ringer off...it just keeps playing and playing and vibrating and vibrating....the only thing that will make it stop is a power down or soft reset.....whats even weirder is if i recieve a text message while the first message is ringing it plays the ringtone a second time in the background...so not only can i not stop the first one but there a second one that i cant stop either...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!....now for the second issue....i downloaded mring for my phone and it allows me to stop the problematic ringer from before by pressin any button on my phone (GREAT!!!!!!!!) no, not great...when i set my text messages to ring and vibrate it rings, but no vibration occurs...and if i have it on vibrate only...it doesnt vibrate either....at first i thought it was problem with my phone, but the vibration on telephone calls works fine...it's only text messages...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS!!!!!! if anyone can fix the problem im having with mring that would be great cuz i want to continue using that program seeing as how i purchased the product and now that im having that problem its basically useless...
29 views and no responses....does anyone on ths site know anything about phones...obviously not...
hi i am fairly new too this stuff and what i think is happening for the first issue may not be happening.....but only a professional can correct tht....when a txt message ringtone plays it basically plays the whole song or ring..before it stops....it almost as if when u recieve a text message windows media player launches in the background and just plays till the end....but it dose not do that for phone calls because any musical content or data service is stopped the second you recieve a phone call...as for the vibration issue i have no idea what too tell you oon that...but what u can try is use small sound files as ringers tht way they wont overlap each othereaside from tht i think there is a registery key tht you can change to achive a limited time ring when a text message is recieved....
as for the reg key you will have to search the forms for tht i believe....
What i do is crop my songs / sounds for text messages. I crop them to about 2 seconds or a little bit more and I dont worry about ongoing sounds playing.
Also you can change the settings on your phone to vibrate and ring, ring, vibrate and so one. See if any of those settings are interfering with your notifications.
Ive tried all of your suggestions in the past..the whole reason im using songs as ringtones is so that im aware of when im recieveing a text...if i wanted a 2 second ringer id use a stock one...guess the problem is unfixable...thanks for th input tho

Muted Ringer when call recieved

Hi all,
I was wondering whether anyone has any advice on an issue i'm experiencing at with my Hero.
Whenever I receive a call the ringtone (and vibrate) do not function at all. This is despite having them both enabled. I have tried formatting my phone completely and trying different Roms (such as Cronos and superhero) It works fine for a while after a new ROM install but soon after stops working again.
When I receive a call the mute icon appears on the notification bar temporarily. I also have lost the ability when i receive a call to push the volume buttons on the side up and down to change the volume.
Can anyone think why this might be happening? Could it be down to a program such as juice defender? (i have tried disabling it to no luck!)
Any help is appreciated

[Q] AOKP PUB 12/27 Sounds issues

I love Steve's AOKP PUB Rom but I seem to have one really irritating issue upon using it. I set my ringtone and notification sounds to the ones i always use. Pyxis for Ringtone, and Don't Panic for notifications. Then i noticed that i was not hearing the sounds during incoming phone calls and texts. So i go into the sound setting to see whats up and they both have unrecognized sounds listed. When i try to re-establish the original setting all the choices are gone except for 2 or 3 instead of the usual several dozen. If i use Root Explorer to go into the media folder all the ogg files are still present. Sometimes they come back upon a reboot. Sometimes they dont. Anyone else seen this or know whats happening? Thanks.

Same here. I'm back of AOKPBRAVO at the moment because of the sound issues. One thing that helped me a bit was to disable vibrate with ring and have ring only but it still would lose the ringtone and on calls the screen would light up and i had missed calls because the ringtone wouldn't be recognized.
I have noticed this same issue and believe I have found a work around for the problem. First take off the Vibrate on incoming calls. Then in the root of your sdcard there is a ringtones folder. Make sure that the ringtone is in that folder. With some of these new roms, they will only play ringtones that are in that folder plus the default that the developer chooses. Go into contacts and set the ringtone for the contact. First I would do it as a test ringtone on a number you can call from. If you have the same ringtone for multiple people then you have to make a new copy of that file. It will only play it for the last contact you assign it too. That is how I cleared my troubles with it. Hope this works out for you.

Missed call notifications

Hi all,
Soooo, I've got the le max 2 running TeaMSpaiN CM13 and all seems well. However I've just noticed that it's not showing any notifications for missed calls.
I'm using standard Google phone app, and in the call log it seems to show the calls as being answered rather than missed, but they're test calls that were definitely terminated at the caller's end not mine.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Also tried using another dialler, and setting it as default. Still no joy. No missed call notifications.
All other notifications seem to be working fine...
Did you tried gi to battery and disable all those power saving options?
Yup, as it's CM13, the power save isn't as agressive as in EUI, but it's all off and still no luck ?
Randomly, it's also now not notifying for some FB requests and such. May be time to try a new ROM...
