[Q] apps missing - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Wondering if any one else is having this problem.. There are several apps of mine that don't show up in the app listing but they are installed. The only place they show up is in the folders that came on the factory install. The Google app folder for example has gmail in the folder but the app doesn't show up by itself in the app listing

I believe thats just part of how this phone keeps the apps in a neater arrangement.

wow i just seen this right after posting a thread about something like this
some how my sprint folder just came up empty an all the apps are no where to be found that was in that folder
i thoght it was just me but maybe not

Paid Apps

Hi Guys,
unfortunately a friend of mine has lost his gmail account (someone broke his password), and therewith all his apps bound to that account.. of course thats at the moment not extremely bad, because the apps are still on his phone, but if he might update the rom or buy a new phone, the paid apps will be gone.
therefore i am wondering, where these apps are stored. i found out, that most apps are stored in /data/app, but for example new applications, which i bought lets say an hour ago, are not stored there (think that this has something todo with 24h refund).. has someone experience with this? will those apps work, which i bought and then copied the apk file from data/app to a backup?
Yes, they will definatly work. you can use "appManager Pro" to back up the apps realy simply, or you can use "mybackup pro" to back up all your apps. Google seems to have no DRM in place whatsoever for the app store, so you can back up your apps manualy or with the above apps and they will still work, on any phone!
yes okay, the first app (appmanager) works, but only with some apps, not with all
for example i have the app "colorUp Lite", there stands "geschützt"/"protected".. any idea how the programmer managed to protect their app? and how to store that?
edit: i found out that every app, which can be backuped is stored in /data/app.. for example the app from above "colorUp Lite" has no apk-file in that folder.. theres just a zip-file with some pictures and templates in it.. where do these apps store their binary on the phone??

[Q] unable to open folder named 'Games' on homescreen

I have a small bug but very annoying to me. I have a few games installed. and I just want to create a bunch of shortcuts to them stored inside a folder called 'Games' on the home screen. The first day i create the folder, it will work fine and open the folder. but then usually the 2nd or 3rd day it will not open the folder.
i have other folders for the same purpose created from that 1st day and they still work by the 2nd or 3rd day, but they are named differently for different apps.
I'm thinking the 'Games' name is interfering with some android processes or something.
Dont know if this happened to anyone else? my searches came up empty.
if someone could try it then post the results from the 2nd or 3rd day, i would be able to troubleshoot it further.
LauncherPro home screen (not Plus)
Stock Vibrant Rom with JI5
I've had that happen before where if you have a taskiller, home replacement the folders sometimes won't open. I usually just force close the home replacement or reboot phone and it works again

taking control of apps and downloads

ok so this is my first smart phone and i hate that i feel like such a noob! i am accustomed to having control of everything win7.
i have astro installed on my rooted phone. just downloaded an app from amazon. i have not installed it yet and have no idea where the dang app is temporarily stored.
is there anyway to take control of the default file location for downloads? i would like to save the apk to my pc prior to installing it on the phone.
additionally im guessing that when an app is installed it creates folders and file locations that the app needs to function on the phone. so when apps are installed and uninstalled over time will there eventually be orphan files and folders that just take up space and cause performance issues?
Most market apps are stored in data/app. No. It wont cause performance issues.

[Q] Why do apps move from the folders that they were placed in?

Hi Guys
Had a SGS2 for a couple of weeks now and have been enjoying it.
However one major niggle.
I've setup four folders: Games, Productivity, Creativity and General. Into these four folders I have distrubuted my apps accordingly. Then these folders were placed on my home screen. The problem is that randomly the apps move out of these folders and scatter themselves back into various places, either on my apps menu or even stranger within another folder. The folders on the home screen are untouched as the shortcut isn't in live contact with original folder.
This is on original KDD stock rom, no root. Anybody else having the same problem?
i have the same problem with one particular app - he keeps escaping from the folder that i put him in. he's a very naughty boy !
no idea why though. i think it might be to do with installing new apps.
do you use the touchwiz a-z sorter app at all ?
No. Not used any sorter or changed from icon to list view.
I think you may be right about installing apps though.

[Q]App Folder

Ok, Seeing as how the first 10 pages and search yielded no results, I think I might be one of those special kids mentioned in the terms and agreements video.
I need to know where Astro installs the apks, because obviously it's not under system/app nor data/app. I've browsed both twice while revealing hidden files but they have not yielded any results. I can find every app on the phone but the ones that I've installed through Astro... So if anyone can shed some light as to where I might find them, that would be great.
try here
dont know if its similar but i have same problem with ics not being able to find apps that were unremovable (they just kept reinstalling) but noticed some apps were also in /preload (dont know if this helps your case or not)
Maybe /mnt/sdcard?
Check peferences in astro for home directory?
Other apps also in /data/app

Thanks for the reply but it's not an unremovable app, just a few apks that I nicked off the internet. They show up under settings > applications and can be removed, but I just can not for the life of me find them on the system folders

Yeah, I've checked those, and all the home directories and usb directories and sd external directories, pretty much all of the directories listed in the preference for Astro with no success. Also, somehow, my /data/app folder only has the stock apps, nothing new that I've installed so far. Appreciate the reply though
Use your root file explorer to search your device, it will show up eventually.....
Edit: so no confusion, I mean the search function within the app

If you have your phone set to install apps to external memory, there should be a folder called "android.secure". This is where the phone puts apps that are installed to the SD. (by default) Now I am assuming you have not formatted you SD to include a EXT 2/4 partition, or else you would know to look there. I would investigate to see if you can find an android.secure folder.
