Xposed App Settings & keyboards - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I was wondering if anyone knows of any work around to get the keyboard scaled right. I have everything apps and all dpi set to 370. That seems to be a sweet spot. The only problem I'm having is the keyboard. I'm stock rooted. Here is a screen shot. Currently I'm writing everything outwith my S-pen.

Maybe because I'm using the xda app I can't see the picture, but you did post a picture correct?

I'm running into the same issue. Did you ever find a solution?

One thing I miss from my iPhone... Is there an android alternative?

When I got a message or notification while my screen was off it would light up the screen automatically to show you the notification on the lock screen. Is there an android alternative?

go sms works perfectly as you described, and its my choice, but see what works best for you.

Honestly I looked into a few of those recommendations but I chose Tasker with the plug in Secure Settings.
Now I can choose to wake up my screen on any notification for a defined amount of time before it turns off automatically.
Tasker is a very powerful system app. So if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. It's a paid app ($6.95) but very worth it. If your skeptical go to the developer's website for a trial.

Tasker is pretty awesome. Amazing things can be done with that app.
Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting you to say that Tasker is your solution.
Agreed with slix, go sms works great

Stock does not show you the message contents on a pop up on the screen.
Widgetlocker + gosms widget. This is my set up.

Well the OP didn't word it that way. If that's the case, then people have made plenty of suggestions.

True. I made the leap because my wife had an iPhone and knew the behavior the OP was referring to.

True, I've had multiple iPhones as well. I actually HATED that feature and I still don't like it on my note. It should come with a damn LED notification like 99% of every android phone.

Homescren landscape mode in dock, why not without?

When I place the device in the factory desktop dock, the homescreen rotates into landscape mode. Is there no way to do this when not docked? Clearly the phone is capable. Stock and unrooted...unfortunately.

if rooted, it's possible, yes.
Also if you use a diferent launcher.

There is an app in the Play Store that will make it go to landscape. Can't think of the name right now but I will post it if I think of it.

Yeah I can't remember the name but it was discussed in themes and apps at one point
It's called "ultimate rotation control". Works great on the stock device.

You're welcome. Its surprising how such a little thing make a huge difference.

Flashing screen in landscape

In many apps, some that lock to landscape orientation and some that don't, I've been noticing that the upper left corner of the screen flashes and 'melts' colors together for a split second, then goes back to normal. That's the upper left in portrait, and the lower left/upper right in landscape. It doesn't do it with all apps, but it does with several and it is greatly annoying. Is anyone else having this problem? And if so, what's causing it?
I've been noticing that it mainly does it with ken magic's solitaire app, and with the stock messaging in all orientations.

I had seen a post regarding this a while ago. It seems there is a layer of glue that holds the capacitive layer the screen. If it starts to come unglued the result is that color banding you see. May want to take it back if still under warranty, doubt it will get better by itself if that is truly what is occurring.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
If that's so, why does it only do it in landscape with certain apps?

I don't know, are both corners the same color in that app regardless of the orientation? If not, maybe it's more noticeable with certain colors. If so, then I don't know what to tell you. Sorry.

Best camera for 4.3 roms

So I just flashed a 4.3 ROM and noticed the camera doesn't shoot wide screen and I have the two black bars along the sides.
Are there any apps that will be similar to the stock Samsung camera app??

I don't know if it is similar, but look at "focal".

Try shooting at 4128x2322.
I have to second the recommendation for focal, even though it's fairly new.
It's one of the best free cameras you can get in the Play store right now, and supports multiple shooting sizes which may resolve your issue.
Default 4.3 cam...at least on SlimROM. Go into settings, then click the second icon in from the right. The one labeled "True View" it changes the display to either show in the fixed res or fill the screen.

Stock gallery photo editing compresses file

Love the phone but I tweaked a photo the phone compressed the file down to 245kb from 3mb. Does anybody know how I can keep original resolution without using a 3rd party app to do minor photo edits??
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
What tweaking did you do? I set a wallpaper from the home screen settings menu and it for sure did not compress it. Did you by any chance crop it with a certain resolution set?

It does not compress when setting a wallpaper. All I did was straighten a sunset very slightly. Once edit is complete it will save a copy of the edited photo in the gallery. The edited copy went from 3mb to 247kb.
It does this with any edit. I tried several. Please try to edit a photo in gallery with the stock edit tools by clicking the pencil at the top and see.

You are right, it's horrible...
Sent from my LG-F320L using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I feel like I must be missing a save setting or something. It doesn't make any sense they would do that on purpose considering the camera is so good.
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
Even the stock Google gallery app does this to some degree (though that sounds far worse). I've always used snapseed for my editing for that reason. Not sure if even that would preserve the original quality though given the 13MP on the g2.
There has to be a way to turn this off somehow
It must indeed be Android specific
Sent from my LG-F320L using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes it sucks, I don't really edit on my phone but its nice to be able to without that happening but I don't see a setting anywhere.
I'm afraid that with epic quality we just need to dump them like a real camera.

Yes but I haven't looked for one yet. Its just disappointing that I would have to use one. It's like buying a $600 watch that keeps perfect time but no dial to set it.
