[Q] Tried to flash CM (wrong version) need help - HTC One X+

[SUMMARY] - If you're bored or find this kind of thing funny you could read this post from the bottom up and watch a noob go from freaking out, to learning how to troubleshoot then finally resolving his issue... all of this just by reading the FAQ thread and following some advice found there. I've learned my lesson... read XDA *before* trying to flash a new ROM.
[SOLVED] - Solution was to flash the boot.img from stock ROM. Once I did that the phone rebooted and went into the typical device setup. Now I guess I can update my ROM.
[FIRST UPDATE]
Turns out a lot of exactly what I was looking for is on the FAQ page (first bullet in Q15, no less). Trying what I found there. Please don't blast me with, Maybe you should have read the FAQ... I've been all over the place trying to find something that would work quickly... I only have one phone and I commute into Philly for work so I need a working phone... Now that I've found the XDA HTC ONE X + FAQ, I think I'll be fine. Thanks for the great site... so much info on here to read... good for long train rides.
[ORIGINAL POST]
Hi, I ran into a problem trying to flash CM to my HOX+ (AT&T). I followed the instructions here (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_enrc2b), but that was for the International version, not the AT&T... Dumb? Guess so, I don't know much about the difference, but it's what happened. I've tried to connect to the phone (per the instructions on the wiki) to adb push the ROM I want to flash, but I keep getting the device not found error. The instructions warn of possible driver error on the PC, but I haven't found a driver yet that will allow me to connect. I can get into recovery (CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.7) but with no ROM on the sdcard I have nothing to flash and can't figure out how to get the file onto the device. The wiki should probably mention putting the ROM on the device prior to going through the HTC unlock steps, just in case, but maybe they assume a more cautious user than I am. I've tried to flash from sideload, but don't know if that is even possible?
Can someone point me in the right direction, or start asking questions to help me figure out what my next step is? Just want to get back to a working phone...
Thanks!

New to rooting - Need help

I've been trying to root my HTC Hero for the past 2 days and since I'm COMPLETELY new to all of this, I found no easy method.
After a lot of research, I realized I need to patch my recovery screen so I can load new ROMs (correct me if I'm wrong). I've tried many methods, one where I install Flashrec onto my phone, but that didn't work. I also tried this method I found on android.modaco.com. I can't link outside of this site since I'm new, so I can't show you the method. I can tell you the problems I encountered when trying the two procedures and maybe you can tell me what to do from there.
I also tried the Goldcard method. I think it worked out and my memory card is good to go, but I don't know where to go from there. (Also, how can I test out my memory card to check if it really has the Goldcard?)
Please don't bash me for not knowing anything on this stuff. I'd love to learn about it, but I just don't know where to start.
Help would be very appreciated.
EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I searched throughout the entire site and tried to find the most appropriate section for me to put this thread and thought this was the place.

5 reasons not to root your Android
Hello Moekz, I am more or less in your situation, may I ask you a question? are you usually developing? if yes.. you probably will need a root, if not then probably it's better to keep the device as it is. There are few problems with rooting the phone and if the reason is to update to the 2.1...forget it now! At the moment there is not the perfect ROM on Web, we need to wait until HTC comes out with the official ROM. If you decide to root the phone you have to be sure the bluetooth, wifi are ok and the battery life is good...then is tricky and maybe dangerous for your phone if you don't follow step by step and perfectly the tutorial of Unlocker.com and xda suggestion. Anyway there is a video even on youtube: How to root your Hero with one click..watch it and then decide. I would wait 3-4 weeks. Good luck!

Well, that's just it. I don't want to wait 3-4 weeks for the update. It's been a while since HTC released Android 2.1, and we still don't have it for the Hero.

[Q] HTC Eris Rom Flash NOOBIE

First off, thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have been trying to root/flash rom since yesterday at 11am now 2:19pm a day later. So before whinning here, I did do my research. Flash is now done, *sigh*
I would like the froyo tazzv26 or 28 rom flashed on my Eris
I've watched yourtube how to videos, unlockr videos, several adroidforums how to posts. they all revert me back here.
My issue is this #1:most of those are old posts(which I've read and been reverted to), and obvious upgrades have been made therefore what thier videos/posts show are not what I'm seeing or reading . Being that this is new to me I feel lost and confused.
Issue#2 I found the rom I wanted, here when I searched Roms for Eris however a link that is next to it sends me to another and another page. Very frustrating.
Favor needed: I've never done this before so can someone please help walk me through the process of being on the ACTUAL page with the download link, and what happens from then. Then let me know what i'm supposed to be seeing on my computer screen once the process starts .** WOW this part is massively missing from all noobie post/videos= FYI for admins and moderators
FYI Eris is already rooted wth 4zroot (instead of HTC1 click since the power up and power button thing didn't work 4 times) I have superuser, quickboot, rom manager, and astro file manager all installed and ready to go.
I'm ready to take your lead
Dulce,
Saw your post over on AF and replied over there, but did really get the gist of your needs until I saw this thread over here on XDA.
Rooting with Z4 root does indeed root you, but this will not allow you to flash or install a custom ROM without having replaced your stock recovery with a custom one, the "one" being Amon_RA (stay away from ClockworkMod at this time for the Eris...the details are probably more than you want or need to know at this time).
The 1-click method that you mentioned previously is what you want and it will install Amon_RA's custom recovery for you.
I would highly advised you to read and understand this thread over on AndroidForums: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/127861-universal-eris-root-dummies.html
You will learn what you need to know from that thread and it will also show you how to install the very same custom recovery as the 1-click method/app. It is clearly more verbose, but the trade-off / benefit is that you will have the best instruction possible regarding rooting your Eris.
Check it out and good luck!
Cheers!

[GUIDE]Complete Guide to Obtain S-OFF, Flash Recovery, and Install ROOT for the EVO3D

Hello everyone,
I wanted to take some time today to make a very clear and concise guide on how to complete the root process for the EVO3D. I understand that there is at least one other floating around at this point. If you don't have a firm grasp of how all of this works though, you may run into problems or have questions. I commissioned my guide to try and add clarity to the process and to also teach our communities newest members some of the ins and outs of modding our phones. The guide is far too large to post in a thread, therefore I've created a PDF of it and am offering it for download.
Feel free to mirror my guide and provide me with the link so that I can add it below.
Below is a Preface and Contents of the Guide. Feel free to ask questions or address any concerns you may have as I will be revising the guide.
The Complete Guide to Obtain S-OFF, Flash Recovery, and Install ROOT for the EVO3D

Revision 1.1 - Published July 30, 2011
Preface
Prior to reading this document, please be aware that as a disclaimer, I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong in this guide. Some people will run into issues that others do not. This is especially true with the differing versions of the Android-SDK. Some advanced users are using an older version which uses different commands than are offered by the latest Android-SDK. I encourage you to ask questions and keep an open mind. Try to understand the commands that are given here, and how you might have to be flexible in changing them to work for your situation. If at any time you are not comfortable with this process I highly recommend seeking out assistance from a more knowledgeable friend.
What this Guide Assumes
I assume that you will be downloading the latest version of the Android SDK which at the time of this document’s creation is R12. I also assume that you are using Windows 7, but this translates very easily into Windows Vista or XP.
Disclaimer
I am not responsible for any problems or fatal errors that may or may not occur through the process of performing the instructions of this guide. If at any time you are not comfortable with this process I highly recommend seeking out assistance from a more knowledgeable friend.

Used your guide and had no problems thank you!
Have not used it yet but this is very helpful... will be rooting my wifes e3d tonight... wasn't going to do it off of the other thread... I had no idea what it was talking about. Thanks for taking the time to put this together

Kind of hilarious to see my access.log right now. Lots of people looking at the guide interspersed with a few people discovering my site's index.html.
Used your guide and almost worked flawlessly The only problem I had was flashing the TeamWin recovery with the following command: ..\tools\fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img
The img that I downloaded through the site was like 1.0.1, but the error was on my end. Otherwise awesome guide!
So much info!!! love it.. nice

I think they may have updated since I first published. I might see if I can emphasize that you're supposed to use the downloaded filename in the command.
Excellent guide!

I actually tried to load the zip from http://goo-inside.me/superuser and it wouldn't work. Retried it quite a few times and got the same error. I found an unsigned version of it in clark44's guide and that one worked just fine. Not sure what the problem was, hence my recommendation to grab superuser from the market and follow it's instructions instead. Seems to be working out well.
I think I might add something about this to the guide if too many people are running into the problem.
Any problems with not being able to send/recieve calls/texts with this? Haven't really messed around too much with the girlfriend's phone b/c she's terrified of not being able to get calls and what not..
I know this is a beta setup for now, so i'm assuming it'll turn into a simple one click type of thing when it gets to that point..?
Edit: I went through all this on my phone and had no problems really except having to call Sprint ..
Followed the guide as instructed...revolution wont recognize my device...it just hangs on waiting for device. I double checked to ensure usb debugging was enabled but it just hangs there.. Again i did follow the guide from step 1 and this is where im at...any suggestions?

I would take a look at the documentation for the Revolution EXE, it could shed some more light on the situation that you're experiencing. Off hand though, I do have some recommendations.
Do you have HTC sync installed? I was reading around and found that this was causing an issue with the revolution program. Try removing that first.
If that's not the case and this still isn't working, there could be a driver conflict with some previously installed android drivers on your system. To clear that up, I would recommend grabbing the latest HTC drivers mentioned in the Revolution documentation. This is the most recent link that I've found: http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
The process may require you to manually remove the old drivers and manually install the new ones. If you're not certain of how to do this, it's beyond the help of my guide. I would encourage you to look up the process online or ask a friend to show you.
Hope this helps!

The only related issue that I've come across is the "Error 16" when provisioning the phone after s-off. As you found, this usually fixed with a call to Sprint. I'll never say, "never" though. Be aware that making modifications to the phone always carries with it an inherent risk, however small or unlikely. The risk of course is part of what makes it fun, but girlfriends (mine) seem to seldom understand this.
If the root method is ever released, there is potential for it to become more of a one-click procedure, but I don't think there's a guarantee of course.
Thanks for the guide!
I'm stuck though!
The Revolutionary Command Window says:
"Waiting for fastboot..."
And my phone rebooted into the HBOOT screen but it shows: S-ON
What should I do?
Is this in your guide?
1. Install drivers: http://www.multiupload.com/2OFYWZFCCR
2. Put phone in full boot, usb debugging on , charge only.
3. Uninstall HTC Sync if installed.
4. Profit.

OX+ need help flashing.

Ok, you know, today I got my phone, I had been waiting forever, I got it and within 2 hours I screwed it up. I have followed and followed many forums and posts on how to fix this, and I am just.. lost. So please i need your help, I am seriously stressing out, and I know I shouldnt, but this is my first android phone. I am shot right now.
I had unlocked the bootloader, and then I tried to root it, then it rebooted and went into bootloop mode or whatever it is.
I still cannot figure out how to use this Hasoons2000's OX+ AIO kit. So I am just leaving it alone.
Ok the PC doesn't recognize it as a storage device, but the fastboot does recognize it, as I have executed a few commands, like reboot or something, just to test that it works.
My phone is ATT but I am in Russia so there is no sending this anywheres. All I want to do is reboot the OS and have it work again, I dont care what mod or stock rom it is, I just really need some direction here.
I know something about RUU, ATT RUU, Fastboot, some other stuff, I have like 5 pages on XDA pulled up and I cant figure this out.
What is the CMW or TWRP or whatever it is called? How do I flash a zip or an img to the phone? I really just want my phone on again.
Yes Ive done stupid noob stuff, but you learn. So please I am kindly asking for any assistance,
No need to stress. Its fairly hard to brick your phone, good way to learn quick also is to screw with it.
Just need the right guide and I think this will help you since u have fastboot access hopefully. Its a pain rebuiling so read everything so u only have to do it once.
Remember these guides are for different phones so don't use the ruu or recovery links, user my links below.
Your phone is:

Or this guide:

This is for another phone so you need to choose an ATT ruu from here for step 1:
Your phone is a HTC One X+ for AT&T(Evitare)*

More info here for custom recoveries etc which is cwm and twrp for deploying roms, backing up your current installed Rom and general tools for fixing or enhancing your phone, displayed prior to your phone booting into android:

thank you very much I really appreciate your help. I finally figured out the ruu.exe thing, I didnt know they had to be the same numbers, ex 1.15.xxx.xx or whatever.
You see what happened originally was that I unlocked the bootloader, easy pie, but I tried to root it and that is when it started looping. Maybe I didnt understand something, but I seemed to have messed up right there.
Is there really any reason to root? I mean yeah there is super user, but doesnt bootloader help with that a bit? I know BL is for flashing custom roms and all.
May I ask how to flash a custom rom? I really want all of this ATT stuff off of my phone, I really dislike it.
Yes I know I can search, here, google etc. And maybe I should, but I end up getting so many different results, and here and there, and this and that. It really is just easier to talk to one single person who knows what they are doing. So if you could help me, I would again extend my appreciation.
Also I have the android revolution for ox+, and I dont know if it is.. you know.. THE BEST or not. Dont know what to do.
And yes, you live and learn, took me forever with iphones, then I realized hacking and roms and stuff were completely different from iphone. So new game new story.

[Q] Bootloader stuck - PLEASE HELP! - will sell my soul for a fix (to my phone).

Long story short, bootloader is stuck. -- Phone is stuck in a boot-loop of sorts ... it keeps showing the very first screen that shows the Galaxy name and some other info and then flashes that screen over and over again. It is not a boot-loop that loads the OS and keeps loading that continuously. From what I know about phones/programming, which is limited, the bootloader either doesn't exist anymore or the code is not executing properly.
I know there are guides that are similar to my issue, but none of them seem to answer my questions specifically. And when I have attempted some other fixes, nothing happens. I am hoping for a direct answer if anyone has one.
Here's what led to this:
1. I wanted to install the new Android Revolution rom which suggested I have the MJ5 bootloader. I have not attempted to install this rom yet, my issue occurred when I tried to flash the new bootloader.
2. Followed a thread that explained bootloaders and how to install mj5 on note 2 via Odin. --> then got this boot-loop. MD5 and all that jazz was fine. Downloaded from reputable source too.
3. I was/am running a custom rom (JellyBeans build 26 I think) with TWRP recovery. I was previously running CWM recovery, but switched to TWRP because the guide suggested TWRP or Philz recovery for MJ5. Switch between recoveries went just fine. Also, I don't remember what bootloader was installed before I broke it.
I am not a developer (obviously), but I am fairly computer savvy. I can do most things if explained properly. Although I am prone to being an idiot so if someone is feeling a little helpful a step-by-step guide may be best.
I am hoping that someone could (1) provide me with a how-to fix this issue, (2) provide me with a link to the right bootloader that I need to flash in ODIN in order to fix this issue.
PLEASE HELP! I am waiting for some job interview calls this upcoming week and I will be F***ed without my phone. I know it's my fault that the phone is stuck, but I know one of you geniuses here will be able to provide me with some information.
In Summary:
Bootloader is stuck
Phone can get into Download mode, but that's it.
Odin will connect and phone shows up on COM port.
I am an idiot.
I am fine going back to stock recovery/build if necessary to fix this issue.
Thank you all in advance.
P.S. Soul is available upon resolution of the issue; shipping and handling extra ; ) If you don't want my soul I will send you a holiday card with my dogs on it.
You flashed a bootloader for a different phone. Mj5 is for the n7100. The Verizon Note 2 is i605. You have 2 options to get your phone back to 100%. Either use kobols unbrick method found in the general section or send it off to mobiletechvideos and pay them to get it working.
Here is a link to kobol's method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615587

Thank you for the reply, I will try this now. I saw this thread but was hoping I wouldn't have to do this because of its requirements (screwing with the hardware and such).
Like I said, I'm an idiot.
Thank you for the tip though, it is much appreciated.

axpaxp,
You may try the method in this thread: How To: Unbrick A Hard Bricked i605 [n7100 Bootloader Flash] NO Resistor , as an alternative to Kobol's method.
