Poetic Bumper Case Review - Borderline - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

I just got my Samsung Note 3 a week ago, and earlier I received my Borderline bumper from Poetic to go along with it! After installing the case and using my phone for the day, I have to say my first impression is very positive.

The case consists of hard plastic coupled with a gray dense rubber that provides a small bit of shock and drop protection. The favorite thing about having a bumper like this is that it covers the metallic ridges on the side of the Note, which I found personally to be ugly. With this bumper on, the phone has a uniform black look that I find much more appealing.
The volume buttons on this case feels snappy and clicky. The power button, on the other hand, is mushier and you’ll need to hit it in the middle for it to register. Another thing to note is that the case makes it slightly more difficult to take out the S Pen. These are only minor complaints, though, and the good outweighs the bad in this case.
As you can see here, there is a pronounced lip on both the front and the back of the case. This lay-on-table ensures both your front screen and the rear camera lens aren’t touching the table’s surface.
The Note 3 is a sliver-thin phone, and the Borderline adds little thickness or heft at all, only a few millimeters on either sides. From the pictures, you can see the Note’s slim profile persists in the Borderline. Unless I’m seeking more protection from my case, I can see leaving my Note in this minimalistic case.
Anyone who is looking for a simple, unobtrusive bumper case for the Note 3, be sure to check out the Borderline.

Thank you for the post and pictures. I am going to pick this up. Glad that Poetic release this bumper.

First bumper case I've seen without the antenna cutout on the top. Will be ordering one asap! Thanks for the pictures

I really want to know if this bumper will work with the Samsung wireless charging back.
If anyone sees this mentioned anywhere, please repost it.
EDIT: I sent an email to Poetic to ask this. I'll post the answer, but I will be amazed if they know.

It is snug fit based from the picture. Very Simple bumper case. I bet it will not work with tempered glass screen protector. I will post the answer once I got this case in 2 days.

Does this case work well with the official Samsung Qi charging battery door? My understanding is the door is a bit thicker than stock and has prevented people for using normal cases.

What does it feel like? Looks like hard plastic. I'm looking for a grippy texture. I wouldn't mind having something grippy on the sides and a textured back

I use one of these on my nexus 4. Its saved it a few times.

Nice pics and review picked one up as others for 5 bucks , can't beat that ...........this will make case 6 ............ to the collection................

Just ordered one as well, good find.

I had a Seidio Active case on my Skyrocket. Personally, I think it's the absolute best compromise there is for size vs. protection. For the Skyrocket, I used it as my everyday case. I just ordered one for my Note.
My only complaint is that the rubber is a little too grippy, which makes it a slightly harder to get in and out of pockets than a tpu case. And it will collect lint. The one for my Skyrocket got better the more I used it though.
Nice, glad to hear ur getting good use out of it. I rocked the otterbox commuter on my gnex for a long while and the rubber part definitely collects lint. Microfiber cloth once in awhile cleans it up pretty well. I'm definitely interested in seeing how the rubber from the active compares to the commuter

The Seidio Active will be half the size of the Otterbox products.
Just received mine and I love it!! Kickstand is nice and sturdy and easily goes in and out of my pocket..

Cool, I'm looking forward to using the kickstand too. I'm not a fan of docks and the kickstand will be nice for laying it sideways upright on the desk for sure

I actually decided to return the case for a few reasons.
1. The kickstand feels cheap. It is a very light plastic with a small magnet embedded on one side of it. I like how the magnet makes it snap into place but it feels like it could easily snap off when open.
2. I don't like the ridges on the soft silicone. It makes it too difficult for me to remove from a pocket.

I still love my Bodyglove case. It's a hard two-piece case the perfectly slips over the phone. The red looks really nice. I've had it for a short while, still like it. Dropped the phone a few times no damage. Although once on a hardwood floor the bottom of the case popped off (kind of like when you drop a phone by itself the battery cover pops off).
Here's the original thread about it...

I dropped mine on concrete from 5 feet in the high gloss silicone case from vzw on day 2. It's still flawless.....
I use the standard kickstand case on htcpedia. Has a beltclip. Case is slim and tight. Doesn't cover the very top or bottom.

I'd like one too. I usually use the silicon one from VZ if I have one on but I can't stand how cheap it is. And I wouldn't mind one that's thinner too. Really just to protect against scratches and keep the camera lense off of the surface or a table lol. This phone feels great without a case, not so great with one. Does anyone know the thickness of the silicon ones? I see that the seidio cases are 2.0 - 2.2 mm thick

It's very good quality. It's a two-piece design that slide and lock together so it will not fall off when dropped. Also, there is felt on the inside of the case so your phone doesn't get scratched.

The description says pu leather, that's polyurethane leather, also known as "pleather". Another way to say fake leather made from a plastic material.
It might not look bad in person, and given how thin it will be it's probably more protection than real leather.
I don't really mind that most phone accessories aren't real leather, but I do wish the sellers would say "leather-look" instead of leather.

I'm sure that dBrands will make a vinyl skin that looks like carbon fiber and improves the grip. They have great reviews for all their skins on the Nexus 4 thread. No impact protection of course but excellent scuff/scratch protection, easier to grip, and good looking.

I recall someone in the forums of one of the older phones I owned, might have even been the Note 2, got some 3M type carbon fibre vinyl sticker, of sorts, and covered the stock cover with the stuff. Looked pretty sweet, not sure how well it would work on the Note 3 cover considering it has that fake stitching, but if you could find some cheap enough, it could be worth a go. Just got mine today. Overall i'll say it's ok. The quality of the cover feels a little more plastic as compared to the original but once you snap it onto the N3, you can't really tell cos it's fits very well. The one plus point about this cover compared to the original is that it does not get any finger prints and does not feel oily. The textured surface is just right IMO. Does not feel too rough. Attached some pictures for those interested.

No cases at my store, I'll check other stores tomorrow but thats the style I like except I want a kickstand on it, I'll take whatever they have for protection and exchange it when more come in I guess. I loved the Body Glove Fusion with Durastand i had on my G2
I have the same case on mine. i also had it on the note 2 but it had a glossy shine to it.i dropped my phone several times and nothing happened to my phone. i really like these cases but i wish they were clear like the one on my wifes s4 not this grey color.tech 21 i found to be really durable.

My brother has this Tech21 case on his Note2, and the buttons are a ***** to press. A little overpriced too, for what it is (simply TPU), imo.
Does it make the phone a lot wider in comparison to a naked device. With the Tech21 on my S4, the phone gains about a cm in width and height.

That's exactly why I'm returning mine. The case itself and protection is fine. It makes it too tall and wide. I like the thin-ness just as with the S4 but it's that girth that's really annoying.

I just went to best buy to see if they had any cases to which they did not but a sales associate told me that he saw someone that had the Platinum case holster combo that they had gotten from the best buy mobile store in the mall so that's where I went. Upon arriving I asked their associate if they had any cases for the note 3 and he said no that they probably wouldn't have any in for a week or two. I told him that the associate at the big store said that I should come there because he knew someone that had gotten one from there. So he says no but I'll check. About a minute later he come from the back with a case and tells me it's the only one he had so I was in luck. So I took my other case back and am rocking this until the Ballistic hardcore is released or I may just keep this. I like a lot of protection but I hate how it bulks up the phone. I also hate putting things in my pockets so I'm a holster guy.

Anyone tried? Has good feedback. Sold almost 200 of them. And has all the qualities of the good ones we want. The hardness rating. The oleophobic rating. The scratch proof.
I've had one glass before. It was a spigen glas.t. loved it. I want the same experience.

Post in the 50% off or more thread if you would like. Glass screen protectors are normally at last 50% more.

Guys who bought one please update us on how these are.

I am tempted to order one myself. It's nice that it ships from the US as opposed to China so shouldn't take too long.
I bought some crazy ivisor XT from the AT&T store and I can't stand it. But it's better than nothing.

In the picture it looks exactly like my Mime Ghost Glass, but for $20 less. I didn't see any mention of rounded edges.

Just ordered one for my note 3 and one for the wife's s3. Just going to try it out since its cheap and shipping from Tenn and I'm in Ga.
Just ordered myself one. Can't go wrong for 8 bucks. Anyone else get there's yet

I was tempted until I read his recent feedback. 34 negatives in a month, 95% are of orders not being received and the seller not responding. A lot of the neutral feedback is of items received damaged because of the way it's shipped.
No thanks.

8 bucks if any things wrong don't even contact just file dispute in PayPal. Its a free refund. Because he can't use his PayPal till he finishes the dispute so he can't make any money.... Simple enough. It freezes his account

I just got mine in today! Looks good, feels good, and fits really well! It even came with a "JellyBean" button!
I'll post pics soon!
Edit: The top left corner of the screen protector started to lift up off the screen. Not sure why because there is no dirt/debris in that area that would prevent it from staying stuck on the screen.

Here are the pics of the packaging:
So are you using it. How is it as far as feel and HD. Is it clear.. Is it better then these Verizon store screen protectors lol

I'm using it alright. Only took about 2 minutes to put it on. Feels great... Like glass... Lol! The S Pen works flawlessly with it and it's super clear that you can't tell that it's even on. I'm excited for those who decided to pick this up. I just put two more orders in so I have spares!

Just ordered mine. Can't wait till it gets here. Then once I get my Aluminum bumper and use my Carbon Fiber back I'm set lol
I forgot to mention the fact that the edges are rounded and it gives you enough room for a case. I have my SUPCASE on and it gives perfect clearance along the edges. It looks like it's part of the case.
