Battery hog? - Themer General Discussion

*DELETED"

Galaxy S3 with Slimbean ROM and my battery usage from Themer is 2%
My current theme does not have a news widget so if yours does, check the auto update schedule.

Same here. Too much battery drain and taking up RAM. Couldn't expect less from an almost 10 mb launcher.

I started getting a constant LocationManagerService wakelock recently and I think it might be because of Themer or either Accuweather or The Weather Channel app. I uninstalled the weather apps since they don't even do anything for Themer.

same here...my battery is draining fast when I am using themer

Massive battery hog. Triples battery drain by 3x at least. Especially while idle.

I uninstalled the weather apps since they don't even do anything for Themer.

I found it is very rom dependent, if your running custom roms. I've had it use up to 40% and barely over 5% with the same theme depending on the rom/kernel. However I'm not a developer so I have know idea what could be causing such a big difference across roms.

Hi,
First, there are many reasons why Themer itself could be draining your battery when compared to other launchers. Some themes comes with 3-5 pages of widgets. Now these widgets have to redraw almost every minute. We've been trying our best to reduce this battery usage, but for now using a single-page theme will definitely help use less battery. Also, constantly changing themes will lead to battery drain. This is due to Themer having to download and apply an array of widgets, icons and wallpapers to fit your device. Therefore sticking to a theme per week will really help too.
Next, make sure that there aren't any background apps, widgets and launchers that are running. Sometimes Nova launcher will run in the background, as well as the widgets that were on that homescreen. Therefore make sure only Themer is running.
Sometimes uninstalling Themer - deleting the /sdcard/MyColorScreen/ folder - then reinstalling Themer will give it a reboot and battery usage will improve.
Finally make sure that Themer is always up-to-date
Hope this helps!

great battery
But I have a zero lemon lol

Any idea what's up with this? Surely this isn't meant to happen. I don't even use google maps, don't think I've even opened it ever.

EDIT: Saw that there was an update pending. Installing, will report what happens.
Mine is almost always 90% display, even though I have all of the power saving options set on my Mesmerize... My battery lasts maybe 8-9 hours, but usually more like 6-7. It's terrible. Any ideas?
Its a known bug, install autostart from market and desible the autostart option for google maps. Try this and you will get a lot more battery.

sorry to revive and thread. I installed autostart, but not sure exactly how to disable the google maps or other apps. Any clue or pointers?
TIA.
Try using titanium backup (free) and freeze google maps or , if you don't use it, delete it using the same.

Whoa. Do you have the touchscreen bug fix kernel applied? Because without that CPU usage on touching the screen is way too high and that would cause a lot more battery usage. 90% is still too much though.
And yeah, I updated to the latest version and it doesn't seem to be doing any weird stuff now. I'll keep a watch over the course of the day.
this is a bug that is stated somewhere in the thread.. either Cyanmod7 or Gingerbread. both have these problems.

Widgetlocker draining battery

Hi. Yesterday I installed WidgetLocker and there's a huge battery drain. Phone was awake every time - also when screen is off. Here's a screenshot.

How can I fix this?
Thanks.
i have similar problems with the awake time but i can't seem to find the application responsible for it. How do you know that is widgetlocker(i dont have it install)?
you just installed it and the drainage happened or do you have some other application that keeps a history track of various applications battery usage?

I installed WidgetLocker and the battery life became horrible.
(You see that in the screenshot).
I have widgetlocker until now and it has not caused me any problems with the battery so far(if i'm gonna date it it's around the release of void.delta iirc) Did you try rebooting the phone after installing it?

Oh, I think I didn't.
I'll install WidgetLocker, reboot the phone and test.
Edit: Till now phone isn't awake every time, battery drain reduced.

I used it for over 3 days and did not have any problems with battery backup. Andy's ROM with Andy's kernel was what I was using at that time.
Installed two days ago. No battery drain.

[Q] Please help with my battery issue

I really need help understanding what is draining my battery, sometimes even while it is charging.
I'm rooted, and on Simply Honey 5.1
I've set up my Facebook to sync once a day, Titanium Backup to backup 2ce a week, and usually, while I am sleeping, all my wifi/bt/gps etc are off.
Recently, i've noticed that while my battery is charging at night, i wake up with a low charge (50 - 70% range), and that basically my battery has been draining at the same time.
I installed Watchdog lite, and have had System Panel monitoring my system.
Here are some screen shots.
System Panel - Plot - 8 hours - battery drain even while charging. CPU is being used a lot, even though the device has not been touched.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
System Panel - Top Apps - 8 hours. System, system process, calendar storage seem to be using a lot of CPU
Watchdog Lite - Android Process Home Screen - what is that? and Facebook doing it's daily sync, I assume.
Can anyone explain to me what System, and System processes do? Also, what is Android Core (Home Screen), and why would that run, if the device is asleep?
Any answers would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
I ran into the same problem, what I did I went ahead and got juice defender from market. It allowed me to turn off all radios at night. This allowed the phone to remain charged the whole night. Also while charging I activate the clock app and dimmed the screen at night while charging this also helped the phone to charge 100%.

I have juice defender already, but i don't turn off all my radios at night, because i do want phone calls to come though if they have to. wifi/bluetooth and gps are all turned off though.
I'm really wondering what Android Core (Home Screen) and System/System Processes are, and why they are eating so much battery.
Thanks for your help, fear676
have you tried clearing your cache and fixing permissions? since juice defender doesnt work, you can try to uninstall facebook and see if that changes anything. i know that i had a problem with both facebooks on my vibrant and i set the integrated account to sync once a day and the app to never sync.
i also had a problem on my SGS4G where my android core killed my battery in 2 hours randomly. i ended up having to reformat everything on the phone and reflashing the rom.

[APP] ChargeBar - MIUI Battery Bar

So, I noticed the charge bar available in MIUI (and Shostock) and went searching for how to add it in. Needless to say, the editing and coding was quite tedious. I decided to put off adding it until I had the time. Randomly, I stumbled upon this app. A free application in the market, it provides the same, highly-customizable MIUI bar. I had to share. For those who aren't rooted, you're in luck; it doesn't even require root.
*For anyone not familiar with this, it provides a visible, representative bar of your remaining battery above your status bar (location configurable).
It runs as a running service. I don't anticipate it adversely affecting battery life, but I'll edit this post if it does.

If you look closely, it's activated. It's much more visible on your device.

Seems like it, also, how can I tell if these apps are on in the background or only draining during usage?
I guess that if you're connected to a network it will constantly be checking for the adds.
Use better battery stats, it will tell you everything you need to know for each app that uses battery.
AdFree? yes, it sure does.
Your posted image, my daily experience along with Biporch's thought, surely it does.
The question is that should we get rid of AdFree or keep it or any other alternative tool that not causing battery drain.
I use adfree to manually update the hosts file occasionally, but leave everything else off in settings.
Try Adaway. Its a nice alternative to adfree
No drain

CollegeProfesor what program is that you are using to track battery usage. Seems very nice.
I do have better battery stats but it isnt as easy to view.

That is BetterBatteryStats. He is looking at the Process view, which can be obtained by clicking on the dropdown menu at the very top and choosing Process. If you are asking about the overall look of the app, seems like he has some ICS-esque theme going on there.
This is just the battery stats viewer that comes with the miui from

You folks could also just place the host file yourself. No ad blocking application required. Though my favorite is adaway. Essentially init.doh adblocking is adaway with 1 more list merged thanks to adaway's awesome features.
Yea, I like adaway because it's open source.
Well, 2, 3 seniors suggest adaway then adaway, here I come
Give it a try.
Thanks all
