Best Tablet to Accompany N3 - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 General

I previously had a Neuxs 7 (dropped and broke it), but do to the size of the N3 there's no point in getting a 7 or 8 inch tablet. I just bought the Sony Xperia Tablet from Best Buy, but now it almost seems like a waste of money because the N3 can do almost everything except be used as an ebook reader for me.
Are there are any cheap tablet alternatives out there that people could recommend?
Also is the Note 10.1 worth the price?

ipad of course

I picked up the new Note 10.1 yesterday. Awesome tablet.
Has all the same functions as Note 3, of course. Super thin and light, and the screen is AMAZING. The 32 GB version costs exactly the same as the 32GB iPad, which is what I'm switching from. Plus you get expandable storage.
To me, it's well worth the money.
I'm just still having a hard time finding a good case for it. Will probably get a sleeve until Samsung gets its crap together and mass-releases the Book Cover.
Samsung blows at accessories. Simply terrible.

Should I buy touchpad now?

I'm looking for a tablet under $300
was thinking about buying kindle fire, nook tablet, or htc view.
but just saw touchpad @amazon priced $290.
how is touchpad compare to those devices i mentioned above.
Is it a still a good buy?
First of all..the other device mentioned are all 7 inch screens. What are you looking to do? I would say the touchpad hands down...but then again I have a touchpad so I'm biased

I personally don't think 7" is a large enough screen for tablets. The ipad is 9.7" and so is the touchpad (at a fraction of the cost). Phones are nearing the 5" mark for screens so a 7" tablet will probably feel more like a big phone then a tablet.
touchpad for sure. I just bought a 32 gb for 200. There are still deals, you just have to be quick and watch ebay close.
I wouldn't get a Touchpad. The plastic crackers near the speakers, and it's thick. If you were to spend $300, you could probably just get an older Transformer, or a Samsung 8.9?

Yeah I guess the customization and performance under 300$ means nothing when choosing a touchpad/sarcasm/.
Get real! The two products you mentioned are no match! HPtouchpad is the HD2 tablet version. You can run virtually every OS on it.

The Touchpad Definitly!
I got a 32Gb Touchpad for Christmas for $295 and got my wife a 32Gb Xoom for $484. My Touchpad with WebOs is the better tablet in my eyes. Yes, the Xoom is alittle lighter and a nice tablet in its own right. I would not want to trade tablets with her.

A good cheap case for the Galaxy Tab 2 7

When I picked up my GT27 (or whatever acronym that should be used to save time typing, which really didn't in this case) I was terrified at the prospect of it being damaged by my clumsiness. I dunno about the rest of you but $250 is a bit of money for me so I am hoping to use this tablet for quite some time before replacing it.
I did a bit of searching for a good cheap case and found a decent one that I am happy with. It fits the tablet snugly, and I think it works well.
I picked it up at Amazon for ten bucks with free shipping via Prime membership. It is a MoKo case.
Here is a link to it: http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Samsung-Galaxy-Elastic-MicroSD/dp/B0083OYIBW/
Just got myself one.
Thanks
Just got one too good quality for such a low price and fits the Gtab2 7.0 perfectly!
Thanks OP for the heads up!
Glad you two are digging it.

Thanks again.
This is my second case, very nice though, and it fits like a glove, it has some nice texture on the back. You won't regret, I bought it from this guy on Ebay :

Otterbox Defender for Galaxy Tab 2

Soooo they make them now for our tabs. I'd really like one but I'm waiting for amazon to have them a little cheaper than the otterbox website. I've always kept an otterbox defender on my phones so I'd really like one for my tablet too. Size doesn't matter to me. (I have a nice targus case now)

So what does everyone think? Own one? Show us some pictures and give a review!
This looks great. I wonder how heavy this is. I have Otterbox case for my phone and it almost doubles the weight.
Lol,$70 case for a $170 tablet. I would buy @ $40 though. Waiting for samsclub to get it in stock.

Looks good, but I have a BT keyboard case and I would be a pain to remove the tab from the case when I want to use the keyboard folio.

+1 way to much for a case. I ended up ordering the Moko rotating case for 20 bucks from amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083OYRD6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01 it should be here wednesday.
$170 tablet? I paid $270 for mine the day it came out at best buy here. I was the first to get one around here and even though I paid more than some I had mine before everyone else! lol
Be glad when its cheaper or at least at the local bestbuy. I'd be tempted to buy it if it was right in front of me in person.
I don't mind paying good money for a good case. They have the best warranty. I've broken them (belt clips) and they've always sent me replacements.
Thanks for the opinions.

I got my 3113 from amazon on thanksgiving for $180, if it wasn't for the price I never would of gotten it and probably gone with an SGP 4.2 but since the price was so close between those 2 items i went for the bigger screen and massive battery.
The last two Otterbox cases I have bought... have been crap...
Way overpriced imo.
The external rubber shell barely stays on my sons Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

They will replace that for free .. I know ive replaced my evo's once already
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Yes they'll replace it for free. Any part, even send a whole new case if needed. They're great about it.
I've had a defender on five phones. Each time I've sold it with it and I always buy one when I get a new phone. Wouldn't run without it!
I have yet to get one for my tablet. I'm glad I didn't because I'm trying to sell my tab now so I can get an n7.

I've had Otterbox cases on all of my Android devices. Since I use my tablet at work (tech coordinator, teacher, and coach at a middle school), I have to have the protection. The Defender case for the 7 inch Galaxy Tab 2 is one of the better designed Otterbox cases I've used recently. It isn't as bulky as some I've had, it's not really too heavy, and it feels and looks like a high end case. Even though my Tab is a Best Buy refurb unit, I'm glad I ordered this case. Amazon has them a little less expensive than others now.

I have the galaxy tab 2 7.0 with the otterbox defender. I went to walmart and purchased it for 199.00 I also pick up a wireless usb keyboard and touchpad combo made by logitech for 29.99. Then go to ebay and get the charging port extender and you have the perfect combo all for under 300.00 I did get lucky though and found the otterbox defender brand new from someone on craigslist for 50.00. You cant go wrong with this setup.
I've had the Defender for about a week and I love it on my tab 7. I was using the RooCase before but decided I'm not a huge fan of book cover/leather cases
I have it on my gtab2 10.1 and it rocks!

Dang, I paid $325 for mine brand new, except mine is the i497 for AT&T. I like to have 4G when I am not at home. At home I have a 17" laptop, so I don't use the 10.1" tab... Does the defender have an opening for the IR port?

yessir this has a very nice cutout for the IR blaster.
I've had this tab/case for about 3 weeks now and I've dropped it a bunch of times. -_- don't tell samsung or otterbox, but the day we bought this tablet for work, we dropped it from our roof and it was as if nothing happened at all lol. you can't even distinguish the point of impact on the otterbox.

Thanks, I bought the case, and so far I like it. Not too crazy about the screen protector, but it's better than nothing. I don't like big cases for my phones, but the tab works, even like the stand.
Some people might have paid over 200 for their tab, but Imo 70 for a case to protect a device that can be replaced with a brand new one under warranty now for 170 (and price will Continue dropping over time) is crazy.

Bought one. Time to pick a case

I got my 12.2 this afternoon. So far so good but now it is time to get a good case, having that big screen unprotected is leaving me nervous.
Anyone having good recommendations?
Tab was pricey but came with a 64gb card and 6 months of Netflix free.
I haven't had much time with it but let me know if you have questions. This is my first tab (of any kind) but I've used Andis for a long time and have a rooted Note 2.
Thanks.
you bought the 12.2 note pro or tab pro? i'm looking for the 12.2 tab pro and it's not released yet..
It doesn't look like the cases from Samsung are out yet, and are only for pre-order at the mo. Also I don't see much in the way of 3rd party yet. It's great to have a bleeding edge device but it sucks to wait for everything like cases, root, etc..

12.2 Note Pro.
I'm not fully sure I will adapt to the size or if I need a tablet at all, so something tells me I might end up selling it in two or three days. That will definitely be a needless loss of money, but sometimes there's no way to know until you experiment.

try getting a BT keyboard and mouse, it might make things better, I guess..
If you search eBay there are a ton of cases for around $20. However, when I pick mine 12.2 up on Sunday I will be getting the Zagg Cover-fit bluetooth keyboard case. (link) I've had the original tab since day 1, almost 3 years ago, and I've been using the Logitec bluetooth case that is very similar to the Zagg case in the link. I literally have about 7 cases for my original tab at home that I've collected over the years but have only used the keyboard/case exclusively since I got it.
The Zagg is $100, which is what the Logitech cost at launch (I got it later on clearance for $15), but it's worth every penny.
Picked up an 8.4 yesterday and it's fantastic. Literally only the Belkin case is available immediately so I passed on that. I paid 50 for the Samsung Book case on their site...it appears to be available now, so hopefully it gets here quick. Toddler in the house!
Now we just gotta get these things rooted and unlocked with a form of stock Android. Magazine UX is terrible.
I'm waiting on the Tab pro to come out, but after using the poetic slimline case on my N7, I'll be looking at something like this http://www.amazon.com/Series-Samsun..._sim_pc_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=10YW9X29YEQEN39KKBS8. By mid-March, more cases may be around for 12.2.
The IBlason cases are linked in the Accessory thread.

I like this one.
I've been very happy with this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H1OQYIA/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Moko Samsung Galaxy Note PRO & Tab PRO 12.2 Case.
It's cheap, but feels sturdy and nice materials. It has magnetic closure that turns off the screen of my Tab Pro 12.2 when I close the case. It props up nicely. The only minor issues I have are the pen holder is cheap stretchy material and is badly located and the case has a cheap elastic strap designed to help keep it closed. I don't use the strap. I may cut it off, but it's not intrusive.

Pen replacement

Does anyone have suggestions for buying another pen? I've seen them for $30 & $60. Sort of pricey.
Sent from my SM-T830 using Tapatalk
You can get cheap ones on eBay or Amazon. They are just cheap Wacom ones. But they aren't as precise and seem to track about 2mm before the point
Actually, I had an old pen with the my note 4 (phone) and it works fine with the tab s4. I have one in my bag and one on my desk. it is just smaller.
The Pen from my Galaxy Note 2014 Edition also works. The tip is smaller. It was narrow bodied to fit in a recess in the tablet body, works fine, but is uncomfortable to use compared to the bulkier pen that came with the Tab S4. Not something I noticed with the old tablet.
