Hello, so my girlfriend bought the Evo 4G from best buy about 3 weeks ago because at the time we did not know the release date of the new Evo 3D. So I was wondering if she would be able to take it up to best buy and do a return/ trade in at no cost because the phones are the same price and she is within her 30 day return period. I was not sure if it was just that simple or not so I decided to come here and ask if anyone here has ever had any luck doing one of these switcheroos such as the one we are hoping to try and do?

You can return it for the 3D, just got to pay the difference. They will probably give you hassle though, but it is their policy.
I was in the same boot. I was told you could if you return it to the point of purchase. They gave me no hassles at all

Thanks for your reply, im not too sure what you mean by point of purchase though. Does it mean to return it in new condition or to return it to the same store you received it from?
I'm pretty sure he means same store you received it from. Also, I'm not sure if Best Buy charges a restocking fee, but I know Sprint does, so that's something you might want to look into. Sprint's is $35.

Just a final update in case anyone was wondering... They exchanged it without any issues (even though her phone was still rooted), they were also able to move her black tie protection and buy back program to the new phone. The phone is very cool btw and she loves it.

Stopped by a blue shirt store (Best Buy), strolled around looking for it. Couldn't find it. Finally a drone asked me if I was looking for anything. Said, yes, but you don't have it. Told her and she said, "oh, we have them, we just didn't bother putting them out". LOL No display for the device, nothing. I said do you even have a non working one. Oh, I guess I have one behind the counter, but with the new iphone coming out....I just turned and walked away.
Best Buy has become such a joke. About all it is good for, is going into the
store to actually HOLD something in your hand, then buying it from Ebay or
Amazon for LESS.
Stopped by a corporate death star store and saw a FUNCTIONING one. Wow! Fast, smooth, BRIGHT. If it wasn't for the smaller 4.3" screen vs the 5" screen I have on the streak, I would have gotten one right then. If the Note comes to the shores before 2012, I'll get one, or just bite the bullet and get the SGS2.
Kind of hard going back to a smaller screen when you get use to a 5 incher.
Yeah Best Buy has gotten bad. I went to make a simple exchange of Infuse for Galaxy S II and left those crappy headphones home by mistake and she wouldn't let me exchange. There was another Best Buy on the way home, stopped in there and the guy didn't even ask about the headphones. They were sold out at 12:15 though so I had to get a return and go to AT&T to get the phone.
The pricing in there is ridiculous. They are butt raping people, 40 dollars for a 6 ft HDMI cord? Get out of here.

They also price matched AT&T for me this morning and gave me 10% off for my whole purchase because im a rewards member. Me and Best Buy are friends. lol

Both best buys near me got two each, and one of them is always being slammed by tour busses. I don't know why so many best buys are only getting 2 GS2s each but thankfully I got one of those two so I'm happy.

That went over employee news. We can do something called a instant ship though. Which takes about 1 biz day. Cause we basicaly get it from a near att store. lol

My local Best Buy only had two also, both sold. I got mine from AT&T just around the corner.
They also only had two Samsung Galaxy 8.9 Tablets, a couple weeks ago. I bought one of them.

Does the Best Buy package come with the HDMI adapter? My box doesn't have one but I read in a review that AT&T was including it free.
brianlp, i purchased at Best Buy and it didnt come with the HDMI.
I love the best buy in Fairview heights IL. They only had 2 let me pre-order and then gave me 32 dollars off the phone bought my captivate off me for 112. Everyone was super nice and always have been.

AT&T didn't package crap with this phone. No HDMI adapter, headphones or anything that came with the infuse for 50 more bucks. Oh well they did include the dual core processor lololol

That's what the BB guy told me. He said he could get me one from another store, which I assumed was another BB. I asked him when would they get another shipment, and he said Thursday's is when the truck came in. I said thanks, then drove over to AT&T.
Best Buy can be a PAIN, I will readily admit that. However it can really depend on the service. I tend to get really good service at my local Best Buy. And since we recently bought a new home and upgraded out TV, fridge and washer Dryer, I had a BUNCH of reward zone points. So I pre ordered my GS II at BB. when I got there they where great, they returned my $50.00 pre order to my card. Price matched the "rumored" $148.88 Wal-Mart price, and did it all pretty dran quick too. My total OOP for the phone was $1.88. So while I can agree that in many cases BB isn't the best, currently I am a fan.
I have not had an issue with Best Buy. I had gotten my Nexus S there, now my SGS II and everything went smoothly. They even price matched WalMart for me.
So I've been thinkign about buying a note 2. Have purchased a razr last year (13 months ago) I'm not elegible for an upgrade; but it has god awful battery life (it predates the maxx; which pissed me off).

So I wanted to check verzion final price on the phone; went to website; add it to cart month-to-month; then wanted to see if i could actually purchase it. Nope; have to add a plan (as a side note the plans have been raised to $20 so without discountes the $80 plan is now $100). Wiat this is month-to-month - I don't need (or want) a plan so I hit the chat button. Rep comes on and I tell them the problem. You have to add a plan they tell me. We can always remove it later if you want but to purchase you will need (another) plan. But I don't want a freaking plan I just want the phone. I'm sorry we can't sell you a phone without selling you a plan but ....

So not only do they charge more for the phone than any other brand (at&t, sprint, ...) and then they break features on the phone adding their own local hacks (block call and similar); they won't even sell the bloody thing. Maybe that is a hint !
I ran into that too, but I went to a local vz store and bought mine the day they where released with no problem.
You should also realize you don't need to buy your phone from Verizon, there are many other ventures that are selling the Note 2 both oncontract and off.
There site may just be flawed pick it up in store if you need.

I did find a use one for $450 that is tempting but I won't be going home for a couple of weeks; maybe I'll wait and see if it is still for sale - but i worry a bit about warranty; while $450 is a good price; at $600 or $650 which is more common I think maybe that warrany is worth the few extra dollars.

Sure can if you want to pay $800. Actually they sell it via best buy. There is suppsoe to be a 'developer' version direct from samsung but i couldn't find it on their website; they sure like to hide such things.
You can get the Maxx battery put on your razr. My brother had his done through a company and they even gave him a warranty for it. Just thought I would share. Funny thing is that his phone now says razr maxx under about phone .

You're wasting your time (and money!) trying to buy from Verizon. It's extremely easy to pick one up BNIB from eBay or Craigslist. Worst case scenario you'll save $50. Best case you'll find somebody trying to offload a gift they don't want and save a lot more. Mine, the guy hadn't even taken out of the box. Found on Craigslist, he wanted $575.

Yea, that's me. Good to see you here, I still have two Rezounds.
I really loved that phone but they seem awfully slow and laggy now compared to the N2 when I play with them.
This is kinda funny, I have a 12 year old daughter that plays soccer and I help coach the team. One of the Moms from the team was telling me how much she hated her older android phone and was planning to use an upgrade to buy a new iphone (and lose her unlimited data plan to do it).
I showed her one of the ROMed and highly tweaked/unlocked etc Rezounds and offered to give it to her for free (and she could have kept her unlimited data package). She basically said "no thanks, I never want to see another android phone at this point"
She bought a new iphone the next day and when I asked her a few weeks later how she liked it she responded "I absolutely love it, this is what I should have bought in the first place"

For $575 I might take a chance on it, but there is not a chance I would buy one off ebay or craigs list to save $50 over buying straight from Verizon.
Log in to the site, then it will let you buy it without adding a plan.

To me Iphone users are weird. IOS 6 feels the the same as android but one has to pay for every useful app. Being locked into Apple's web browser and walled garden is crazy. People are ok with it and it blows my mind.

I completely agree and I have an ipad2 (I'm typing on it rightnow)
I bought the ipad way back when they very first came out and it's the first apple product I have ever owned (except my 12 year old daughter has an ipod touch) It is the 64 gig with both WiFi and 3g. I have done Windows mods/repairs etc for years and home build all my PCs.
I really wanted an android tablet but all the android tablets that I tried back then sucked. They where all laggy/slow etc and the ipad just blew them away with its smooth glitch free operation.
I loved the ipad at first but the more I used it, the more the limitations of it really started to annoy me. Now, I hate the thing and would really like to sell it and buy an android tablet but I have so many apps etc in it (it is jailbroken) that I don't really want to dump it either.
The thing that really annoys the living sh** out of me is, I started posting on an apple message board (very similar to this one but only for iphones/ipads/ipods etc.) EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried to get help for something that irritated me about the ipad, I would get flamed like crazy by 50 a-holes claiming the ipad was absolutely perfect just the way it stood and if I didn't like it I was an idiot and should go buy something else.
I couldn't believe it, I was not trolling AT ALL, just asking legitimate questions and most of the posters (who where technically retarded) could not stand for anybody to post even the tiniest criticism of their Apple products.
I sort of addressed this at the start. First the note 2 is $700 at amazon and verizon; the $800 price is via samsung website which uses bestbuy. For $450 or $500 I would be willing to buy it used in the right situation (there was one 'new in box' for $450 but it sold pretty quickly). However at $625-$650 I tink I would rather have the warranty. Locally I've not seen one below $625 and on ebay folks are trying to sell them with cracked screens for > $600.

If that used one was a legitimate sale and not beat up (not a CL scam), it's already sold. That's dirt cheap for a GN2. Even bad esn GN2's sell on eBay for that much. A reasonable price for a like new GN2 will be between $5-600 on CL. More anywhere else online.

If you are already 12 months or so into a contract with shared data, another option is to get it on a new line ($299) then cancel your old line and pay ETF (approx $230 if you're 12 months into your contract), total $529 plus tax from Verizon with full warranty and support. If you want to keep your old number just port it out to Google Voice.
I considered this when it first came out, and confirmed it would work at my Verizon store, but decided to pay full price to avoid entering yet another new 24 month contract.
Yea I thought of something similar; switching to at&t (I have another thread). The more I look at how these companies work the less I like them; Kind of hope google offers a (good) phone service alternative as is currently rumored. Its not just the prices but on top of the prices the crap they stuff/cram/ram/whatever up the users whatever.

I use Dolphin on Android and they have a web app for IOS as well. There are options, but the majority of android users don't even know they can use a different browser, and they don't even care. The majority of android users don't take advantage of any/all of the features android offers over IOS, so it's not hard to see why IOS is perfectly fine for so many people.

That way you get both LG's warranty as well as AT&T's. Amazon didn't have any for sale off contract (not sure if they do now yet) but if they did, that's the route I'd have gone. Buying through eBay can be sketchy. I got lucky to get a good unit (knock on wood) from a seller with a super high positive feedback percentage. It's still a risk though. If it goes belly up, I have to try to get LG to honor the warranty, which might be a struggle. Craigslist is strickly "as is" with no hope of any remedy other than buying a new one if anything happens to it, but if you get a good enough of a deal it may be worth the risk.
TL;DR: It all depends on how much you're willing to pay for peace of mind.
picked mine up sunday for 487 including tax at the att store. includes warranty and return period, if I was an idiot it would also include the option to insure the phone. mostly outperforms my tegra3 device with two cores tied behind its back (eco mode)

I got mine off of eBay too. LG requires a proof of purchase for any repairs so I am SOL warranty wise.
I got mine off Ebay for $395- NEW. Look for them you eventually will find a great deal!

Im willing to spend up to 400 max, not to say it isnt worth more cause im pretty sure it is, but with the nexus 4 back in stock on the play store, its either an optimus g at 400 bucks or less ( the optimus is the one i really want) or i just get another nexus 4. Picked up mine brand new off of craigslist from a guy who gets a hefty discount for 175. It was from best buy.
I got a good deal on mine off of Craigslist. Traded my skyrocket plus 150$ I bought my skyrocket on Craigslist for 200. So basically add that 200 and 150 so I paid 350 for it. Not to bad really.

I was about to give up, but I thought why not ask about Amazon. So, we made it through just fine and she called over someone to approve it. It sounded like they were trying to find a way to deny it, but it ended up working. Hopefully this helps someone else. I was trying to originally go to Target, but they were out of the black ones.
If a picture or something might help someone else get that deal from Best Buy, just let me know and I will be more than happy to help out.

From my experience with two different Best Buy Mobile managers they are very strict with their price match policy. I highly advise you guys go to Target and get the $250 Amazon price match.

Best Buy doesn't price match online competitors for mobile phones. It's possible to do but not required by them. So if you get the right person who is willing to bend the price matching policy then your in luck.

tried to price match here in Clermont FL no go at target as they have yet to carry the note 3 and the price for the ATT one went up to 350 which is weird. I bought mine on amazon yesterday and it said it was back ordered 8 weeks at 250 this morning I got confirmation it was shipped!!!! will arrive Monday.
I got lucky my mobile best buy store at mall price matched it to 250$
Went to best buy today to get my price match for the note 3 i bought on Oct 4th. I was kinda nervous cause of the people who said their best buy wouldnt take the amazon credit. The one I go to must just be really nice I showed her the ad and she approved it immediately without question or a call to sprint like some people had to deal with. I guess it really just depends on the person you get to help you.

Note Cards??? I'm all about the whompasaurus rom. And as of right now I'm way too busy with school and working at best buy lol. I love this phone stock anyways.

Yeah, it highly depends. I called my local best buy before going in and they said they wouldn't price match because their terms specifically say they won't match contract phones from online retailers like Amazon.
I tried to push my luck and just went inside the store and asked if they would price match and the guy there did it without hesitation. Awesome!
