Official Samsung S-View Case not working for me :( - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

On a whim I walked into a T-Mobile store while driving to Orlando when we stopped for Starbucks just to see if they had any cases and there was the elusive S-View in black and white. I signed into Foursquare for 30% discount plus did the buy 2 get one free and in essence got the case and screen protectors for my N3 and my daughter's iPhone 5, the guy put them on for us all for 60 dollars total.
I love the case but I can't get it to do anything except wake up and shut down the screen when opening and closing, no S-View windows, clocks etc. I went into settings where there's a couple of options under accessories and nothing. I thought it might be the rom so I flashed stock, Darthstalker and Myrom to no avail. Any idea how I get it to work or maybe just a bad chip in my case? Fyi I mentioned how hard it is to get these cases and the manager told me they are a Galaxy Headquarters store , they had a special Galaxy counter and display as well.
I have to drive back to Orlando Sunday so if its not working still I will stop in and try another case and hopefully that will work unless there is something simple I'm missing, he put the case on for me and I should have tested out the functions there but we were already 30 minutes behind schedule, I got the white case for my white N3. For anyone in the South Florida area its the store in Port St. Lucie just off 95.
I can only guess that the 3 roms from development took out the S-View apk if there is one or I have a defective case.

Check the case. I just came from the store and they had 3 bad cases. On the right hand side there is supposed to be 2 metal pins. We checked out 8 cases and 3 were missing the pins or weren't glued down.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Yeah check if it has the metal pins on the back. I bought one from AT&T that didn't have the pins glued down and I had to return it

Maybe this is why Samsung issued a recall for some of the cases.
Someone mentioned it on this board a couple of days ago.

Samsung QC is getting pretty terrible..

Samsung releasing the Note 3 without OEM accessories is pretty bad imho. Finding a case in London and Manchester including the Samsung Experience store at Stratford is next to impossible.

There are none to be got in Ireland either

The pins look fine, after using it for two days even if it had worked I'm going to get my 60 dollars back, guess I'm just not liking the functionality of having to use two hands with this type of case. Also the flap tends to stay ajar quite a bit, I'm just going to stick with the Caseology case that was waiting in the mail when I got home tonight, cost a few dollars and it looks and feels perfect to me.
Thanks for the responses guys.

Well I ended up exchanging it and this one worked immediately. I was all set to just get my money back but it's just too cool, switched to a black case just because it won't show dirt.

i had one and they are ****. sorry to be frank, but honestly, for 65 bucks, that stupid thing should have a magnet to stay closed. my brand new phone would be going on and off all day long because the flap would open and close. as soon as i'd use the phone it would stay open, or bounce a bit... whenever i moved it, sure enough, the screen turns on because it opens and closes again
totaly crap samsung... if you aren't going to have a magnet, then at LEAST make it out of something that won't try to hold the damn thing open
i give this thing 1 star, and the only reason it gets that is the idea itself is pretty cool... too bad the implementation felates a horse

[Q] Meh dropped my phone again

So for the second time i dropped phone on the concrete portion of the road while getting out of the cab. I think it's time for me to invest in a bumper to prevent this from happening again
Before we move forward, is there any way i can get the casing replaced?
I was initially waiting for the 32GB version to pop up and sell mine for cheap but the last drop put a nice dent on the bottom right corner
Good news: Galaxy Tab 10.1 takes decent quick photos

That was my intention from the beginning to replace it with a 32GB version but 32GB version never came out. I may grind it out a little longer for the nexus prime assuming it does come with an AMOLED HD screen.
ah yeah.. my Dell Streak from back in the day (RIP, officially discontinued) came with a 16GB card.. so I use that.. I used to use my SGS II for media but I find the headset volume to be too low so I went back to using my Zune HD

that is an exspensive fix mate , the only way i could find to replace the silver bezel is to buy the screen with the bezel attached wich is about £80
you then have to fit the new screen etc
it was cheaper to sell my scratched sgs2 and buy a new one
i sold mine for £385 and got a new one for £445
Kicked out your girlfriend over an accidentally dropped phone? Youch.
Just get a nice cheap case to hide the damage until you sell and buy a new phone.
You'll feel better
Might wanna consider investing on case-mate tough case series.
Also dented the "silver" in a few places, and much to my own amazement I'm not too bothered! But will be buying a the thinnest blackest bumper I can find for future drops.
Please also post the drop related issues here,

Now that's what I'm talking about!
I have the official samsung on mine, the mesh type but it doesn't protect the top or bottom.
IV had several very lucky breaks so far because The phone is so thin and light IV been able to catch it between two fingers when almost dropping it on several occasions.
I only just noticed the metallic black bezel after reading this thread so it worries me a little more now that its not protected all the way around.

Cracked case around speakers

it started cracking (from what i noticed) like, last week
yesterday, it's totally broken off
anyone else have a DIY fix? superglue i'm thinking
****sux because i had the touchpad inside the official case day 1 AND it doesnt get moved around often nor does it see heavy usage
i have a theory that the case actually helps increase the chances of the cracks because any vibration/pressure is transmitted somewhat equally around the touchpad so even if the speaker side was not touched, any other force small or big goes speaker side and will eventually crack
Why don't u contact HP Support? They will replace the case!
I have the same problem that you are having. I have my touchpad for about a week or so and it cracked between both speakers it really sucks. So what I did was used super glue to fix the problem it might not look the best it works for now. Its nice to find out that its just not me having these problems but it really sucks.
Sent from my GT-i9100 using xda premium
ya I know about the customer support replace, just wanted to get opinions on superglue approach before then because I'm sorta scared that my touchpad will get replace with a diff one or the screen gets scratched etc
if the super glue works I'll just do that
Don't do the superglue, I really regret doing it myself, it's not clear and is very ugly, i need to find a way to get it off before i can send it in.
I'm thinking of getting mine repaired and then getting it wrapped in ghost armor.
The armor works great...

I didnt have "Cracks" but I have the ripple effect on the small plastic part like it was going to crack.
wondering about the superglue method myself (i have cracks on both speakers). does it melt the plastic cover?
I have cracks on my TP as well. It's a hardware defect, much like the original Pre / usb door cracks. The plus side is that it will never spread to the screen, and it does not affect the performance (or looks if it's in a case).
I don't recommend sending it back for "repair" ... it's not worth it and you don't know if you'll get it back.
It works.
I just noticed cracks as well. I'm going to check out that ghost armor. Looks neat.

well the cracks around the speakers is cosmetic. Contact HP Support they will replace the casing.
I had the same issue with my TP. The customer support was good. They sent me a return box and label. All you have to do is to pack your TP as per instructions and drop it at nearby UPS store. I received the repaired TP within a week.
Act fast before the warranty expires.
I just noticed a crack in mine. Called them and they are sending a box out. It's covered for a year they said.
10 have it back. I'm sad but will be happy to get new one and will have armor case ready and waiting for it.

Yea. HP is going to get my tablet back in a few days. I have to go drop it off. I wonder if they've fixed the problem and the new ones don't do it. I sure hope so.
I have dropped mine and its cracked on the corner and some of the plastic has come away. Does anyone know if replacement covers are available while searching about this? Cant seem to find one.
My TP has now developed a crack near the speakers! Spoke to HP who said there was a batch of TP`s who had a "bad" batch of plastic and the new plastic they use is better and should not crack!!
I have to send photo`s of the crack to their Argentinian office and then the TP gets sent from the UK to Hungary for repair (through UPS)
Hungary?? I think that is the first time I have read the word "Hungary" anywhere in months (do not spend a lot of time looking at maps of Eastern Europe).

Sena Ultraslim (white/white) mini review, pics

I've had my ultraslim for about 5 days now and had a pm from a member here regarding it, so figured I'd post a few pics and a mini review. First off, good customer service. About a week and a half went by after I ordered and I had not received my case yet (I'm in PA, they're in CA i believe). I called up and the rep said it appeared it might've gotten lost by usps due to the tracking not being updated. No questions asked he sent me another via Fedex priority and I had it two days later.
Pics and then a bit more info:

First, I definitely like this case. With the size of the note, I was way too hesitant to drop good money on something that would make it any bigger. I've never used a pouch for a phone before but I'm liking this. White on white looks great too, to me. Have had some compliments on it already.
Fit: I received my case literally as I was going out the door to go to the gym. As I immediately noticed that my phone kept rebooting every time I put the phone in the case, and when it was on, the volume kept changing. I realized the inner seams were pressing up against the buttons. I was very upset at first, and then realized I just had to put it in a bit crooked so the seams run along the edge of the buttons rather than on them, not a big deal. Took about a few days for my case to start breaking in and now the note fits snugly but easily pulls in and out of the case. Also note that the case has kind of formed to the 'crooked' way that I put the note in. It's not like I need to make sure I'm avoiding the seams when I put the phone in, it just slides in exactly how I want it to now.
I rock my note upside down in the case, since I have BLN on. All I have to do is lift up the top flap a bit and I can see if I have notifications.
Protection: Obviously it'll keep away scratches. Drop protection... it really is thin. However, I'd be fairly confident that on a regular drop, the case would save it. It's basically just a thin layer of leather, but I think it's enough to absorb the shock. It's like the difference between the metal cased iphones and plastic phones... just a little bit makes a difference. That said, I'm not going to test it. But it really does add essentially no noticeable bulk or weight, and gives you a better grip when removing it from your pocket.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Very classy looking, thanks for the share.

$35. And I don't quite understand your question... See you asking if your phone with case attached will fit in the pouch? No.. It's designed to perfectly fit the phone. Then again I don't know how thick your case is but I highly doubt it and aren't sure why you'd use both

Samsung Book Cover case for 7'' Tab

So I've been looking for this case but it's always been too expensive everywhere. I found this one but I'm not familiar with this site. Has anyone ever used them before? Looks like a really good deal.

That looks pretty good. If it didn't already have the expensive cover I would try that one.
I like the way it can stand up at 2 different angles, I wish it could stand vertically though.
not endorsing brands mart, however they had the oem case for $38
not endorsing brands mart, however they had the oem case for $38. I bought one their, other electronics I bought their went yours tits up before 6 months, so caution on everything else.
I just bought this case a few hours ago from my local store here in Dubai. It fits well on my tab. But the problem is that the hinge next to the camera hole is quite narrow. Every time I close it, it touches the power button unexpectedly causing a restart. Maybe it will differ on other stocks of this item.
I'm not using the camera that much so instead of opening the cover to the right, I rotated the tab covering the lens and made it open to the left.
Be careful after a month or so you might end up with fraudulent charges on the card you use, I did.
Yea, I wasn't sure about using that site so I ordered one of the Poetic cases from Amazon. I had one on my old ASUS Transformer and liked it. Good price too.

I wouldn't bother with that one. I bought this from eBay and I can't believe how practical, sturdy and well-made it is. And matches my Tab2's color

I ordered this case last week, so far I like it a lot. It's slimmer than Samsung version and I like the way the felt part that covers the screen doesn't end up on the outside of the case when you open it and set it down. I was worried about getting dirt on the felt and scratching my screen.
I also like that the cover latches without needing the elastic strap, although it does have one. It also stands at 2 different angles.
It does smell very plasticy, hopefully that will go away soon.

Tech21 Case

Received my Tech21 case yesterday. I have to say, it's awesome. Of course I threw it on the ground as soon as I installed the case I'm impressed. It fits nicely and is a lot smaller than I thought it'd be. With the Tempered Glass screen protector, this phone should be able to withstand any normal fall. Shipping from the UK didn't take as long as I thought it would either. Very pleased. The only issue I see is the style of plastic is "hard" not the softer type. I'm used to Incipio Feather cases and they have a softer more "grippy" feel. (I know; use your Big Boy words.) Anyway, I recommend this over an Otterbox, unless you need to protection from water. This will not protect from water damage.

Those cut outs are huge... It looks nice with the exception of the abnormally large spaces on the back and ports. It seems like companies think it's too hard to make it a perfect cut out similar to Spigen on the back.

i love this case and the grip it gives. the cutouts are large but i am sure that is to ensure all/any cable would fit.

You have a good point because the stock cable is rather large. I wonder if the large cut out on the back was to prevent any interference between the case and laser.

Yeah my spigen case for my s4 wouldnt let me use my aux cable i had for my car. And i had to find a fitting cable which was annoying.
As for on the back around the camera the larger/wider cutouts probably work better as well when it comes to feel since the case is fairly thick a staunch drop right around the button could possibly make it more annoying to fully hit the button from multiple angles while holding the phone..
I assume all of these things are thought about im just thinking as to whywhy.. Its a great case though im gonna keep it until the US slim guard case becomes available.

Other than BestBuy, T-Mobile and Sprint corp stores are selling it too.
The T-Mobile by my house was having 30% all accessories last weekend when I bought the G3. Saw this case in blue and knew I had to have it since I had one with good results on my old Galaxy S2 back in the day. Its been a little over a week and the blue areas that actually rest on surfaces tend to turn a little black though. It's not awful (to me anyway). Just a heads up.
Dropped my phone the other day flat on it's back from my pocket and cringed knowing the orange goodness was on the top and sides but it was still fine lol.
