[Q] Wifi AP on ICS/JB - Xperia Mini Pro sk17i - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello, I have a problem with the wifi ap in all roms / kernels I've tried based on ICS & JB, I can not get internet connection for any device. I tried several kernels and roms and tried to connect different laptops, pc computers, etc ...
I have no problem with kernels and roms based on GB, so I guess it's no problem of mobile.
I currently use the lupus v7 kernel and the Hepta Erro 4.2.2 rom, all is working perfect except this.
If anyone has the same problem and was able to fix it, would be greatly appreciated to help me.
Greetings.

Thanks Alex, but it is not the same problem. My wifi works well, what does not work is the wifi hotspot or wifi ap.
I had the same problem as you say, and I solved it by installing the kernel v7 lupus. Then from the terminal I used some commands to restart the wifi, it was easy. Think i remember they were these:
/su
/lupus
After I chose the option "5 / Clean & resolve tweaks", then restart
Hope it helps!

You can look up a bluetooth apk or simply.. just flash a new ROM such as CM7.2 ICSFinal by jusada. Everything works fine on it.

Wifi hostpot problem

I have a SGS II with Simplistic ICS RC7 and my main problem is that it doesn't seem to find the wifi hotspot created with connectify(software that shares your internet connection thru a wireless card) in my work (no router there).
Previousily i was on Miui 2.3.7 and it worked . Doesn't seem to be an ICS issue , more like a STOCK firmware issue, as my coleagues on stock 2.3.6 didn't find the hotspot eighter so i'm thinking it must be an modem driver issue or kernel. any help would be apreciated.
nobody knows????
I've no experience with connectify, but you could try changing out your kernel. Wifi drivers are in the kernel, I believe. Give Siyah a shot.
well the only custom kernell from siyah for ICS available right now is an alpha version. tested it. wifi still doesn't detect my hotspot.
Sorry, totally missed the part about you being on an ICS ROM.

[Q] No Wifi at all on ICS and JB Roms

I've been trying to fix this for weeks, but I just can't find a working solution so I am asking you guys for help!
My WiFi works fine if im running a Gingerbread Rom, I currently have WIUI (the GB Version) flashed and the Wifi works fine. It won't work on any ICS and JB Roms however. I've tried MIUI, CM9, Resurrection (Both the ICS and JB Versions), F1 Galaxy Nexus, Lite'ning Rom, Paranoid Android and more, all I get is "Authentication Error". I tried to restart it several times, change the Network Security, the Radio Channel (I dont know it thats the proper translation, excuse my english), and installed various Apps (WiFix and such), Kernels, Modems etc but none of them seem to help.
I'm so frustrated with my Galaxy S2, so I'd be really grateful if someone could help me out!
You tried many ROMs, but WiFi is controlled by kernel :silly:
So, try other kernels.

[Xperia S] Problem at Tethering on Stock Rom + Custom Kernel/Custom Kernel/Custom Rom

I'm having problems in trying to do WiFi tether in my Xperia S. When i try to connect any device at my portable hotspot (at least i've tried with a Galaxy S3, Optimus 3D, Linux Notebook and Windows 7 Notebook), the device just cannot lock the IP address. It stays a bit in "Obtaining Ip Address", disconnects, tries to connect again, "Obtaining Ip Address", disconnect. Are any of you having issues like this?
Could we try to pinpoint the problem? It would be a custom kernel problem or a custom rom problem, a combination of custom kernel/stock rom problem and others? Maybe someone know somenthing that i dont, and it would be nice to have it documented here, so i created this topic to ask for your help in this issues! How can I solve it? Better, how can we solve it?
So above is the list of kernels and roms that i have tried and failed miserably in make my tether work:
Stock Rom Generic UK 6.1.A.0.453 with:
XSX Kernel 3.1
Advanced Stock ICS Kernel 11
The only mod i have at the phone is QuickPanel
i've been trying, using my self compiled kernel and stock ICS rom, nothing wrong with tethering, it just working fine...
Thanks for the test fajarep!
Here i got nothing!
Failed trying now:
- Flash LT26_6.1.A.0.452_Generic_CH_1257-3740_.ftf (read somewhere that generic/international firmwares have no restriction in tethering)
- Many tethering apps, rooted and non-rooted ones (max i got is a message of failure in setting ad-hoc)
-Adding a ",dun" at the end of my "APN Type" in Data-Management-mimimi-i-dont-remember-put-the-name-here-later-menu

hmmm.., I don't use Generic version, only using our SEA ICS version, it maybe doesn't have any problem with tethering stuff. So, I can't help anymore..
No problem with wifi tethering on stock ics and also on miui (both 2.7.20 and 2.7.27 with advanced stock kernel build 11). During the last two weeks I used it every day without any issues.

Next trying = MIUI 2.7.27
How is the battery life in comparison with stock?

Battery life is absolutely great in standby and just as the stock with the screen on. I have no complaints regarding the battery with miui.
In a quick test it seems that with MIUI i can tether. I will do further tests and report here
Glad to read that and to be somehow helpful!

I had the exact same experience with my wife's phone that I bought of ebay. I even flashed a variety of RIL's (radio interface layers) and different modems. I'd never had the problem with my SGS3 before, and have hundred of different roms on it.
Anyway it seemed to be a kernel issue and after trying ever combination possible I found that wifi would always work perfectly on any stock based rom or any CM based rom (assuming that hey used the CM kernel). It wouldn't even work on a CM rom if I flashed a different kernel such as Yank's, Boeffla or Googy.
Also at the time I trawled the net looking for answers and found one or two others that had the same issue, but could still use stock Sammy or CM. Strange... almost felt like it was an odd batch.
