To change the firmware to generic (or in theory to any of the firmware listed in post two -although this has been untested at this time - only generic UK has been tested) follow these instructions:
Follow the instructions here to obtain root. If running "adb devices" at the command prompt lists no devices when the phone is actually connected download the USB drivers from here.
Download the attached build.prop file which is for Generic "Customized UK/Black"
OPTIONAL: Using notepad replace 1238-0199 with any of the values from post two (the CDF number) to change to another variant
Push the edited file to your phone's sdcard: "adb push build.prop /sdcard/build.prop"
Then: "adb shell" and type "su", grant the root access on your phone and then "rm /system/build.prop" and "./busybox cp /sdcard/build.prop /system/"
Lastly use the Sony Ericsson Update Service to install the new firmware

I believe there is a generic Spanish, here is only that of Vodafone (U20i VFE-1-8-8821 1238-2538 CDF1238 Vodafone ES / Black
.) The one used in Spain is U20i WORLD-1-8-0199 CDF1238 1238-0204 Customized UK / Black, that if in the list.

So we can use the uk black for our vodafone branded mini pros without problems?
cannot copy modified build.prop
No permission, but i have root permission, my phone is rooted.
build.prop deleted in system folder.
Cannot copy from file explorer on the phone.
adb Shell works, cannot copy from sdcard to system folder.
Any idea?
@x10minipro, apologies I missed a few commands. Follow the last few steps of the guide in post 1!
Caution!
Don't delete build.prop and reboot your x10 mini (pro)!

Tried with all the dk roms from post two, and none of them works, flashing generic UK no matter what digits you change in the build.prop. :/
Hmm thats a shame, I wonder if its anything to do with the following line:
ro.semc.version.cust_revision=R11A
Maybe try changing that line to: ro.semc.version.cust_revision=R1A
It's a long shot but might work

after knowing that the ICS for XM has rolled out i have created this tread for collecting maximum information about CDA number of xperia mini that have upgrade to ICS.
The first info after reading , SI and CDA are different number , SI number (Sale Item) and it written on back of phone behind battery see here,and CDA number ist the number designed for a region of device software the handset.
How To get CDA ?
on your phone compose #*#*7378423*#*# (*#*#service*#*#) after Service Info then Software Info read the value of customization version in format XXXX-XXXX-RXX

HI,
Checking the SI list in sony mobile is not realy reflect what region is designed for (we have no reference about SI) but with CDA all can upgrade to iCS, with changing owner CDA number with one that situated in the same or with same customisation.
already 2 days past from upgrade , but the SEUS or PCC doesn't make update cause a internal server error , i wait when sony fix the problem

I have not used any custom rom on this phone yet, so if someone didn't change the firmware except factory itself, one of the SI numbers of 1251-0020 R7D CDA is 1255-8757.

no it's reverse SI written on the phone back and CDA is written in software then CDA 1251-0020 and SI is 1255 8757

This can help to try ICS before it will be released to your network/country by force update with change build.prop and cust.prop

But SI code is enough to update via PCC or SEUS.
Can i ask something as new android member - if we really have ftf file, is it true everybody can upgrade? Arent firmwares region specific? And how can ftf file be flashed?

Flashing FTF will make SI code like country from where is FTF file, e.g. I'm from PL so if you flash ftf file from me you will have PL too.

Both are correnct. under back is global (hw, preinstalled SI cod), in sw info is operator, customization code.
We need this code from sw info.

dial *#*#7378423#*#* (its the word "service")
go to Service menu
then to Software info
then to Customisation Version
take a screenshot like this (I flashed the MY generic 6.0.B.3.184 ftf, so I dont know the SI number from my country - sorry)
No personal info are within the screenshot, just the SI number and build customization (which are also inside the build.prop file)

There are two SI numbers.
The one is inside the build.prop file (which you can also see at the Customisation Version screenshot) and the other inside of your phone.
When you request the update/repair through SEUS/PCC it "reads" the build.prop and according to the SI number you have it tells you the version of update that is available for downloading...
As for the other SI number (the one inside your phone) I really dont know its purpose, (I think that it comes from the factory production number and it might be a particular batch for a specific country - but I might be wrong).
Check your SI number inside the build.prop and you will see that it is different from the one at the Customisation Version inside the service info.

Hello all,
This is my first thread for XDA. I made this tutorial for get any Sony XPERIA U official ROM in the world.
Before you need:
ROOTED XPERIA U
Root explorer or Solid Explorer
PC Companion
first open the build.prop (system/build.prop) using root explorer. and edit these 3 lines to your desired firmware customization number
(Customization numbers @ 2nd post)
ro.product.name=ST25i_XXXX-XXXX
ro.build.fingerprint=SEMC/ST25i_XXXX-XXXX/ST25i:4.0.4/6.1.1.B.1.10/9bt3zw:user/release-keys
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
(XXXX-XXXX = you must enter customization number you want in this field)
Please use only the first customization number of this list.(Highlited ones on this attachment)

Now connect phone to the computer and repair the phone(re-install software) using PC Companion (not SUS)
then it will download new firmware before you chose. after it will say to turn off your phone and connect with flashmode. dont do it.(Because it won't work)
Close the PC Companion software to cancel update.
Then go to this location of your computer:
"C:\ProgramData\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\db\13740270\blob_fs"
(you can directly go to this link by pasting your address bar)
after you can see 3 larger files name like this
FILE_XXXXXXXXX = ~63KB
FILE_XXXXXXXXX = ~400MB
FILE_XXXXXXXXX = ~14MB
copy this 3 files to another folder and create ftf file.

There are two XXXX-XXXX" "XXXX-XXXX number of each row.
1st XXXX-XXXX one is software customization number
2nd XXXX-XXXX one is SI number of your phone. (see the info under the battery)
don't enter the 2nd number to build.prop. use the 2nd one to find your original firmware (Ctrl+F & search it)

search it by using SI number.
WARNING! : do not try to install ST25i devices firmware to ST25a. I didn't test it.

So can I switch back to my official ROM by changing SI number in the build.prop to the one found on the back of my device? and follow the instructions to create the ftf file?

edit: its ok, i downloaded my 6.1.1.B.1.10_1261-8375 , but it doesn't update to .54 , it say's its the latest .. hahaha

its depending on the firmware. most of firmwares not updated to .89 yet. Its a Sony's fault.
Ex:
If you choose UK firmware 1261-5359. you will get B.1.10 firmware.
If you choose NCB WORLD firmware 1262-3293. you will get B.1.54 firmware.

grrr is it posible that i havent still got the ics update....My si number is 1261-9036 and i am from serbia and phone is sim free.the most interesting thing is that both 1261-9037 and 1261-9038 got the update in serbia also but not my si number

To change si code, you need to edit build.prop. Set the following lines to the choosen SI code (remeber to only change the 8 si numbers):

ro.product.name=LT22i_1261-8592
ro.semc.version.cust=1261-8592
Just change the numbers to the si code you want to use.
and ro.semc.version.cust_revision to R1G, just to be sure

ro.semc.version.cust_revision=R1G
You need root for this. After that, reboot phone and check on sus or pcc. If you update, please provide a ftf so other users can try too.
SI codes are regional/customization codes, you can check what brand/region is the code by searching on the attachment file. For example, 1264-3189 is the generic US firmware.
One notice: I cannot guarantee that these SI codes will work on devices other than xperia p, as I have extracted them from the firmware list for xperia P attached on the post.

Sorry pal, I dont work on Sony or related to them in anyway. I just extracted the codes from the firmware list and made a small program for checking all those codes on sony server.

Try another one and did you reboot after changing the si numbers (all changed in build.prop)? And restart pcc or sus for me it worked yesterday.
