[Q] Miracast with Xperia Z ultra? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

From all I can find online, it seems miracast is supported by the xperia z ultra. However, I can't seem to find the same "screen mirroring" option under display as I can find on my xperia z. Is there an option somewhere else?

It's under Xperia-connectivity, screen reproduction.
However, I can't get it to work. My tv LG 55lm765S supports miracast they can find each other and connect, and the nothing happens. LG calls it screen mirroring.

In the Google Play Edition, it's under Settings > Display > Cast screen > Enable Wireless Display.
But I haven't tried it; I don't yet have a Miracast device at my TV.

Allshare-Cast

hey guys can this work without the need for the ead-t10jdegsta all-share cast hub/ dongle ?
using a s3, and UA46ES6200MXRD smammy smart tv.
the all share stuff works awesome, if i'm in the default video player, can easily throw the video to the tv ...
but what about the screen mirror function?
ie http://youtu.be/7p6nOAcSUsE
i have a nfl game pass subscripton, and this is the easiest way to get it on my tv as far as i can tell ...if it works.
the allshare cast option on my s3 doesn't find my tv when it scans .... so i'm thinking maybe only the series 7 and up tv's actually do it with out the dongle.
but man ... if thats the case ...is it mearly samsung holding it back to sell more dongles or tv's?
i mean if i can send 1080p video to the tv via all share ...then why not screen mirror /allshare-cast?
wonder if there is a non official app on the market somewhere
same shiit here,i have 40es6800 tv and cant connect with my s3 via allshare cast. Maybe it is needed allshare cast dongle or maybe it is bugged ^^
I read somewhere that screen mirror via normal all share cast is not supported, only with the dongle whereas I am not sure if this is 100% true. (just got a normal Samsung TV and waiting for my dongle to be delivered)

as i heard that dongle is needed for non smart tv which doesnt have wifi direct, my tv has wifi-direct+wifi integrated adapter and still it doesnt work. Maybe sammy doesnt released atm firmware with that feature enabled
yeah from what im reading even the screen mirror (allshare-cast) isn't working via the dongle either ...which is a bit of false advertising imo if the case, all it does is provide wifi for non-smart tv's ?
wonder if it's a rights thing? i see they removed tv->cell screen mirroring from the samsung smartview app ...as in removed functionality what WAS working ... hmmmmm

The TV's need an software firmware upgrade which Samsung is working on.
Samsung advise that the option to use your S3 as dongle is still in development - they cannot give me any time frame. I think they are trying to get people to buy the dongle just in case this works with all DLNA / wifi enabled TVs, if it does they wont sell out as many dongles when the app come out.
I say this as I cant see any reason why it would still be in development, it was "coming soon" months ago and cant be that difficult to get working if the dongle has the same tech / protocols, should just be an app port at most.

It' working very vell, I'am mirroring from my sgs3 via allshare cast dongle to an old b7000 samsung TV, also works without problems with an LG TV. My note 10.1 mirrors as well, so stop telling BS it's working.

AW: Allshare-Cast
No dongle on my main TV (sorry dongle was connected all the time) but had to pull the lan cord to get a wifi connection(this was for the smart view app), hope they correct this in the next firmware.
LH2 on the note 10.1, LH1 on the sgs3. Tv dunno I'am not at home.
Sorry for for the confusion! Mirroring was accomplished with the dongle. Will try without when at home.

Dongle is required for all TV's at the moment, Samsung havent yet enabled it properly for use with WIFI tv's, Samsung or otherwise. If you want to mirror now you will need the dongle and be using stock ROM.

HDMI Out and YouTube

When I connect my Galaxy Nexus to my TV over HDMI, I can play YouTube videos but *only* the video shows on my TV.
I paired my phone with a Bluetooth mouse, but if I move the mouse or click (or tap the phone with my finger), the pause button and seek bar ONLY show on the phone, NOT the TV.
Is there any way to fix this?
I would like to use the Bluetooth mouse as a remote, but obviously with no on-screen controls appearing, this is difficult.
Anyone?
Try to use tv remote. A lot of stuff can be controlled on my android phone via tv remote when connected via hdmi.

Darn.
I'm trying to use my phone as a set top box for YouTube etc, but the mouse not showing the on-screen controls on my TV make it impossible.
Well it turned out I was wrong. Nothing works via tv remote control. Tried with YouTube and xbmc. It was my sister's Xperia S. On Xperia everything works via hdmi except text input. No 3rd party app available afaik...
Sorry for inconvenience.

No problem. I just wish there was a way
A phone with a Bluetooth mouse would be the ultimate set-top box:
- Free (since I already have a phone)
- And easily portable
Did you try this:

You can change the dpi for 160 putting it in tablet mode and every thing is going to be better on a bigger screen... or just install paranoid and change just the yt app for tablet mode

thank you all for your help
What Rom are you running? Pa? If yes then put the yt app in tablet mode.
If you are not running any kind of pa the are you rooted? If yes, make a nand backup and change the dpi to 160 and reboot, connect to the tv and voila... The yt will be in tge tablet mode where you have all The options on screen. Are u gonna use The nexus as a tv box only:

I am using a stock rooted Galaxy Nexus 4.2.
No, this is my daily phone, not just TV box only.
What is paranoid and how does it change the dpi of just the YouTube app?
Pa is a custom Rom that allows you to go under settings and customize the dpi and UI/ layout of each app... so you can have a app like the camera in the phone UI so that you have the buttons very big and you have also the Gmail app that is in tablet mode so that yo can see it in the double panel layout....

Screen Mirroring Question

I have tried, without success, to connect my Samsung Allshare Cast dongle to my Z Ultra.
The farthest I get is notification that it is connecting.
I assume that the two devices are incompatible. Is this correct?
I've read that the Z Ultra will not work with Chromecast. Are there any devices I can use which would allow me to mirror to my (non-smart) TV?
Many thanks for your help.

[Q] [INFO/HELP] Xperia Throw compatible with Intel WiDi?

Hey folks,
I've recently purchased an LED Pocket Projector (LG PB62G) which supports Intel WiDi.
My idea was to mirror the screen of my Xperia Z2 to that projector, since Intel WiDi and Android/Sony use the same standard for wireless communication: Miracast.
Whenever I want to mirror my screen, the phone cannot find the projector.
Is there any way to get this working?
Edit: I'm still running the most current 5.x stock rom for z2.
Thanks a ton in advance.
It's rather Screen Mirroring than Throw.
Tried lots of stuff and googled this issue for hours ...
Nobody here with a similar problem or - which would even be better - a solution?

Screen mirroring not working

Hi,
Was using a USB C to HDMI wired mirror screening dongle with LG V20 earlier without any issue but even though Poco F1 plays USB DAC and other storage devices normally mirroring doesn't work at all. Is dongle not compatible or Miui issue? Anyone using a mirroring dongle successfully then pls link it.

I've read a couple of threads on here and one on Mi forums where people have found the same. I'm hoping it will be added in a software update. Meanwhile it casts to Chromecast natively (not what you're asking for, but something)

Yeah looks like one of those things that Xiaomi thinks doesn't matter to include. Also, I see 'wireless display' in settings on Poco but doesn't mention what kind. So my extended question is does it support Miracast/DLNA?

The "wireless display" function initiates Chromecast screen cast. It might do Miracast as well but I don't have a dongle to test
Found that OP5 has same issue and they found a solution https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/themes/wired-tv-one-plus-5-makes-displaylink-t3667974 though it's more expensive than a Chromecast/Miracast. I miss my LG now.
My Poco F1 also not connecting to MI Android TV through Miracast

I think that I read somewhere that it is Google which has made the change in Pie so that only Chromecast will connect. May be an earlier version of android will help.
Hi! I don't want to start another thread, so I'll describe my issue here.
I have last MIUI 10.3.8.0 and I have problems with screen mirroring. Previous MIUI I used to connect my phone to my Samsung TV and it worked as a charm. Yesterday i tried to connect again, but i didn't manage to connect. Have anyone the same problem? Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance.

Did u find a solution bro? I'm facing same issue.
Yes, I did hard reset and all is OK now.
Hi you all probably figured this out already but it seems that screen mirroring native miracast is broken on most recent xiaomi phone models since they were updated. I have a Redmi Note 5 (Whyred), a mi max 2 and a mi max 3. Only the Max 2 works normally. The other models can cast using apps that cast like Prime Video, VLC etc but can't simply mirror whatever is on the screen. The Miui forums are full of such reports. No response from Xiaomi and no viable workaround. I was already reluctant to upgrade because Id been waiting for MHL hardwired video out to be implemented and it never was (Id pay a premium fot a xiaomi phone that had it). I saw a couple of XDA threads where folks got mirroring to work via custom roms and my phone is rooted but I am uncertain which rom might accomplish this fix for my particular model.
These are my last Xiaomi phones unless I see something official from them about a solution for this known problem. Mirroring is anessential for me not just for entertainment but for work.
Hi I finally solved the problem of screen cast
first (turn on Bluetooth and WiFi )
Then enable the Screen mirroring on the TV
Then connect the WiFi to the TV
Enable Screen cast on phone and search and connect to TV

Poco X3 is not able to Cast screen by using Wireless Display or Google Home App with Google Chromecast. Need solution.
I don't know whether this might help anyone else but I had disabled miconnect package on my Xiaomi devices. when I re-enabled miconnect service and uniplay service, Chromecast started working again (I am not sure why miconnect should matter ... it isn't supposed to be related to non xiaomi devices, but it is something else to try if you disabled it too).
