Rom manager actually isn't necessary for flashing Roms luckily (assuming you are already rooted with clockworkmod recovery installed)
you'll just need to download the zip file of the rom you want (you can browse through the ones in the development section)
and place the zip file on the root of your SD card (or in a file if you prefer, its just easier to find on the root of the internal sd card)
then reboot to recovery by turning off the phone.
then power it back up while holding power + volume up + volume down at the same time. (its a bit of a balancing act..)
this will put you into recovery mode. (it should say clockworkmod at the top)
it should look something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
then choose install from internal memory and choose the rom you downloaded.
once it finishes you can reboot and it will boot into your new rom.

What he said above (to an extent). If you are only Rooted but still have stock recovery, then you won't be able to follow his directions as you will have 4 options and Install from SD won't be one.
What you need to do is go to my Repo thread in the Dev section and download the CWR zip. Offhand I can't remember if it is named Update.zip, but if not you just have to rename it. Boot into Stock recovery via the key combo and hit Reinstall Packages. It will cycle through and should change your recovery. If not, then hit Reinstall Packages again and this time for sure (I have one Vibe that'll do it on the first time and another that takes 3 times). From there, all you have to do is flash your ROM based on it's OP instructions.

Well I have superuser permissions but how do you know if you have clockwork recovery?

[Q] While installing Cyanogen7, I get (status 7)

Hi every one.
I own a Samsung Vibrant, and I am trying to install the last CM7 on it, but I keep getting this annoying messege (E:error in sdcard/dcim/update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-vibant-signed.zip) (status 7) installation aborted!
I kept searching in the forum , and I think I know the problem, my device is vibrant put when I start it it shows GT-I9000
after further searching, I found this post,
By atinm
Make sure whatever you flash has the name "Vibrant" in the file name, status 7 usually means you're trying to flash some other device's file onto the Vibrant. Or you have your properties set incorrectly (which happened if you flashed bilboa1's broken kernel - I think he might had a fix for this if that is the case with you).

I could not find the fix he spoke about.......so what can I do?
thanks in advance
Try Odin back to jfd and then install. Also 7.1 rc1 is pretty old. You should pick up one of the nightlies to get a more up-to-date CM7.

Thanx geoffcorey
this worked perfectly......I will mention the steps just in case someone needed.
1- I downloaded the following files:
T959UVJFD.tar from http://android.azizus.info/vibrant/T959UVJFD.tar
Odin from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821625
512 pit file from http://www.4shared.com/get/tOVvEDQr/s1_odin_20100512.html
the latest cyanogen.....check cyanogen website under (devices)
*put the cyanogen file on the root of the SD card
2- I followed the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
so now I have a stock Vibrant.......Time to root
3- root using this thread (follow the video exactly!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
now we have a rooted, stock ROM vibrant. lets go cyanogen.
4-download the latest clockwork rom manager from the market (use the markt enabler if it is not shown in your country, like me)
5-press on the first option (flash clockwork mod recovery) and choose vibrant
then press on reboot into recovery.
*if it did not reboot into clockmod recovery and booted in android recovery (blue font screen)

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
just click on the second choice (apply sdcard update.zip ) then repeat step no.5 so you will get clockmod recovery menu
6-then just coose wipedata, then wipe catch
then install zip from sdcard, choose zip from SD card, choose the cyanogen
zip file you put in the sd root, and there you have it!
thanks for all the help I got from this great forum, I wish this helps any one in need.

This helps the op to answer his question how?
Also, stop spamming to get people to use that rom when your "suggestion" has nothing to do with the question.

This is the jb pic if u want change the boot animation go to theme and app and u will find how to change the boot animation
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Choose your rom , stock or another jb variation like cm10
Download it save it on your phone normally comes a .zip format
Download odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722686
Download cf root to give you root and recovery(cwm)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
Follow instructions of installing ( via a pc)
So now your phone has root plus a custom recovery if you press the 3 BUTTON combo of power+home+vol down it should boot into cwm based recovery 5.5.04 cf 1.5
Now once your in recovery you can "install zip from sd card "
Choose zip from internal
Select your zip you downloaded
And then yes.
Wait ~ till finished installing then "reboot system now"
Jb running on new phone .
Most custom roms come pre rooted , stock roms do not so will have to flash cf root again.
i miss anything ?
Custom boot animations require custom kernels which allow it . I use siyah but it is not compatible with jb.
Then scroll down to page where it says "need help installing custom boot animation" in themes and apps

[Q] Getting error trying to flash

OK, so I'm having an issue trying to flash a new ROM. I'm currently using the LiquidSmooth JB ROM and I want to switch to the Paranoid JB ROM.I downloaded the necassary zip file and I put it on my internal SD card. Went into CWM and wiped data factory reset,wiped cache,and wiped dalvic cache, then went to install from internal SD card,selected the zip. It says installation terminated and gives error 7. I've tried this numerous times with 2 different ROMS and I'm getting the same thing each time. I completely wiped my internal memory and put the files back on and tried again and I'm getting nothing. I'm thinking I need to redo Odin and reflash CWM but before I do that I want to make sure its not something I'm just spacing out on. I'm fairly new to all this but I was successful with my first ROM using the same method. Any suggestions?
Oh I'm using the latest CWM touch.
Error 7 means your recovery IS in fact out dated. You have to update to latest version. A simple search would have provided the answer
TWRP recovery is highly recommended
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
I had searched to see if I had the latest CWM but I didn't specifically search error 7. Either way its kind of what I was thinking anyways. Can I just overwrite CWM with TWRP by flashing it with Odin or do I need to somehow delete CWM first.
Sent from my SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
You flash the TWRP zip and as it flashes, it overwrites the CWR. It reboots to TWRP.
TWRP is a friggen awesome upgrade to recoveries. I have to get over to their thread and give them a donation. Its a beautiful piece of code.
Oh here's a pic of my error just in case

Simple Steps to Root Without PC and Without loss of Stock Kernel
Removed.. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Haresh Gulvani said:
Hello,
Simple way to root and unroot stock kernel without flashing insecure kernel.
Don't worry about custom counter and yellow triangle, with this method they never appear, because we only rooting, it's a rooting script not a custom kernel.
This rooting script included Busybox installer.
Rooting :
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip
- SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard or external SD
Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Rooted
Unroot :
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip
- SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard
Choose and Install SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Unrooted
Tested on latest stock Galaxy S II ICS rom.
Tested on latest Galaxy Note by some user (thanks for report)
Note: This method should work for other device with ICS rom, check CWM that compatible for your device.
You can download all the zip files from this thread. ROOT/UNROOT ZIP Files
Thanks,

[Q] Help. Stuck in Android system recovery<3e>

hi i managed to update my tab to the latest firmware 4.0.4 . Previously it was already rooted and TWRP installed. I was thinking of rooting and backing up this build so from romtoolbox i boot into recovery mode (thinking that i will be seeing TWRP) But when boot i was shown the folllowing picture
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
since all of my buttons are not working (hence the reason installing TWRP ) i was ok fine lets reboot it via adb. therefore i run adb reboot and yet it still boots back to the same screen . Thinking i need to reverting all of the changes via odin i tried reboot download also does not work. reboot-bootloader also does not work. apprently i am stuck at this screen.
Right now i only have access to adb and is there any way i can recover from this?
many thanks again
I'm assuming you were running some kind of custom rom with TWRP as your recovery before going to stock ICS. Essentially, flashing stock ICS overwrote the old TWRP.
To fix it, flash in TWRP again (its somewhere in the development section) via Odin.
EDIT: If you can't access download mode... Try push the TWRP .tar file via ADB

the thing is i only root and installed twrp for the sake of backing up since my daughter loves to install application. I've read about pushing / Installing application but that would requires root right? this is my command console like
Right now is there a way to force it to boot into download because thats the only way i see i can fix it (without using physical buttons)
Again many thanks for replying.
