[ROM] [VZW] [DEVELOPER EDITION] Unoficial CM-10.2 by Dhacker29 - Moto X Android Development

Go here and check it out. Obviously I am not the developer. I am just trying to get the word out that this is available...
Unofficial CM-10.2 for Vzw Moto X Developer edition
####EDIT####
And if Mr. Dhacker29 does not want this posted here I will ask a moderator to delete this thread.

But be careful using it, the only way I could get the ROM to read and write to sdcard, was to do a full data wipe which left me with no nandroid back up. It booted, thank god, and I had to move all my files from my computer to my phone afterwards

Okay - well the version I have linked to is a little different as this is specifically built for the VZW Dev Edition... I'll report back as soon as I am able.

Backed up my stock rom. Flashed. And setting it up right now. So far no problems as far as data or phone calls. Wierd taking my phone out of my pocket and not being prompted to unlock.
I'll report back again in a while.

Sadly i think that's the exact reason why i'll be sticking with stock, at least for now.

Aokp and pacman will have active notification and pocket mode is a option they are working on
They did change the code so u don't have too wipe.internal memory..they added back emulated storage read in kernel

So when can we expect a new akop ROM? Enjoyed the test ROM but not willing to press my luck to often and wipe my data clean again, twice lucky, third time I'm out, if you know what I mean

I can build a new one but the active notification is not officially merged yet.Bmc08gt did do cherry picks on his first test build.. I can try to cherry pick everything needed to have active notification in the build with updated libs and kernel.
I can defently can a ROM with just what's merged in gerrit

Although cm is always my go to rom on my past phones and I love it, in this case it almost seems like it would be a downgrade. Im sure there are reasons people want this and im hoping you guys can tell me why yall prefer it to stock in case I should reconsider but I'm currently on the tmbile rom with my vzw build.prop and gravitybox for my custom toggles and I can't think of anything missing, other than maybe the quick reply for texts that cm has. I don't think I would be ok with losing active notifications or touchless controls. Can those kind of features become addons in the future?

1 reason, theme manager for inverted people app, that is the only reason. I know xposed has them engine but the only app that doesn't invert is the people app. Need my flashing fix once in a while too, big pharma has no pills yet for flashing addiction

Well - I ran CM for a couple of hours. I figured as the OP I should probably give it a go. And it all seemed pretty good. My 4G speeds and connection seemed a little off. Not sure how to explain that and definitely not something I am sure about after a few hours.
But after a few hours of pulling my phone out of my pocket and not being able to immediately swipe down to unlock, or seeing if there was anything going on as far as notifications - I caved and came back to stock.
I am glad CM is available though. Because who knows what will happen with updates from VZW.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up. Yeah being able to just pick up my phone or pull it out of my pocket and just swipe down to unlock is soo convenient! I do agree with you about the vzw updates, that's why I'm so glad we can run the T-Mobile Roms. I know they still won't be as fast as cm but hopfully no updates come that will break our ability to flash other carriers roms.

I gotcha. I've never tried the theming but it may be time to give it a try. I love inverted apps too, that's why I hate that Google seems to keep switching from holo dark to holo light in their apps! I miss having a dark messaging app like i had on my og droid. From what I remember all those years ago, it was a simple setting in the cm SMS app back then

There is no need to wipe your data on this CM rom that I have linked to. It is very stable (well for 2 hours it was stable
This is not the same rom that was posted in the other thread. Same developer - different build, This build works pretty good on the Dev Edition it was built for. Can't speak to the GSM editions.

Maps might force close once or twice until you set up wifi
I have included the KB from CM7 but the keys are pretty small so I also included the GB KB,, the keys are small as well but you can make them bigger in settings

A few people have PM'ed me asking about donating. Well, I dont/wont ever ask for donations and honestly I prefer to NOT get donations. I do this work first and for most for me(Yeah I'm a selfish bastard) so I can learn more, so I can make my device the way I want my device, I just decide to share what I make for myself instead of keeping it for myself (I'm selfish, not greedy) and I feel if people start donating they might get more demanding and feel more entitled so I'd rather just skip all of that potential drama. When it comes to requesting things in this rom, I will put them in IF it's something I would use myself. If it's not, then I most likely wont add it. So please dont donate to me, If you want to do some good instead of donating to me, donate to a worthy charity instead! Thank you all for using my rom!
Awesome!

So while I have the rom deodexing(it takes a while) I've been playing with the stock rom, deleteing crap and seeing what will break, also trying to add in some AOSP elements... that way when it is deodexing then I know exactly what I can remove and/or replace
removed a ****load of bloat and useless htc apps
rosie is gone, all the rosie widgets are gone, I have the free version of ADW, Stock GB browser and 3D Gallery all working, the stock calculator is working, GB KB included, The stock Calendar, contacts, camera or mms didnt work but I can try to tinker with them later
but the biggest one so far is I got rid of the Sense lock screen and have the stock GB one So much easier to do on GB than HC!
I might have a preview release up in a few hours
pretty cool man. but i think it would probably be pretty easy to actually build cm7 for the view. I believe the flyer has it going.

I asked the guy who did the Flyer CM rom to throw us Viewers a bone and port his Flyer version to the View. He said he might make it a weekend project but not promising anything.
If interested run over to his thread and pm the dev (very nicely) that you heard a rumor he might consider doing a View port and you just wanted to support the idea.
Maybe a little future fan influence will motivate him

Posted a preview release.. let me know what issues you guys find..
I noticed the market wasnt updating to the Play Store.. I'll include the updated APK in the next release but until then you can just install this and it will overwrite the market with playstore. No need to push it, just install it like you would any side loaded apk
http://d-h.st/aQQ
Another issue I found was sometimes the unlock slider disappears when you wake the device (just the left one though) but if you swipe as if it was there it unlocks. I'll have to look into that

Sounds great I may hold off on testing until it's done. Just hard bricked my E4GT this morning and I'm a bit gun shy.
Never hard bricked a phone before. Accidentally flashed an AOSP ICS rom over an ICS kernel. Apparently this is huge no no. Complete blue light of death hard brick. Thank god for insurance.
Just installed. Testing now. I'll edit in problems as necessary.
First thing I noticed is that the Setup Wizard force closes if I try to change the time settings. I can change the time settings just fine through the regular settings, though.
The keyboard wouldn't pop up at first for whatever reason. A reboot fixed it, though.
In the settings, the right side of the check boxes are cut off.
Also, the mobile signal level icon still shows up, even though I downloaded the WiFi only ROM. I'm guessing this is just an issue with theming for now, though.

The first issue I mentioned in the OP. The keyboard popped up fine for me the first time. The check boxes I noticed and will look into. And the signal meter will always be there even if its just wifi. But you'll see its a empty signal. The only difference is hc puts a red x through it.

You don't have to be shy. I've been running it since last night and there are no huge major bugs that are show stoppers. Every rom has issues and is never perfect. But even though its a preview release its pretty stable except for the few mentioned small issues.

Agreed. So far, it's definitely smooth, and just has those minor issues. I think this will do just fine until we get ICS (though I'll go over to an AOSP GB ROM if we get one). I like it better than Honeycomb already, even if it is an older system.

XT912, Cyanogenmod issues, other roms... some questions.

I tried Cyanogenmod after hearing about it over and over.. turned out to be pretty terrible on my Razr Maxx. Constant reboots, CPU getting stuck at full load making my phone get really hot, poor battery life, bluetooth completely going haywire almost daily requiring me to clear dalvik cache to use it.
I am looking at trying a different rom, but from what I have heard, most roms use the kernel used by CM. Now, I don't know if the issues I've had are related to the kernel, or if they're related to the software. Does anyone know anything about that? Has anyone been using a rom that seems to work pretty flawlessly on the device? All I'm looking for is something stable, lightweight, and well maintained. Any recommendations?
I need to get a different rom on there, the stock rom for whatever reason can't connect to bluetooth in my new car.
EDIT: Sorry I meant to post this in General, it wont let me delete my own threads
I have this rom and have no problems with it and I have the normal Razr but they are the same inside. Try wiping every thing and starting over that has helped me a lot

Honestly, a lot of the time the AOSP Roms such as CM just don't work as well on our locked-bootloader devices as they do on others. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that the devs here have given us these great Roms, but they just don't work as well as Stock or Motoblur based Roms do. If you definitely want AOSP, I'd personally recommend CarbonRom. It has always run very well for me on my phone.

Try it with carbon and jbx kernel. Works very well.
Carbon isn't really maintained atm but the latest build is the last version of 4.2.2. Now they are working on a 4.3 version. I will try to port the 4.3 version when it's out but I think there will be no official support anymore.
If you have the xt910 there is only my unofficial build. The xt912 has a official build.

Installed the latest nightly, will give this one a shot. Thank you! I saw it in the list but I wasn't a huge fan of the design in the screenshots, but now that I have it on my phone I like it. Hopefully no bluetooth issues since it seems a lot was carried over from CM.
I had the same Hell with CM10. And DU. And when I asked about these issues the reaction from fanbois here was terrible and hyperbolic, so from then on I just complained about them. (No GPS? No MMS? Low-rez camera? FCs? Really? {der})
So I searched and searched for a good rom when miui stopped supporting the xt910.
+1 for Carbon. It is fantastic. Sometimes you get a black screen on boot so just reboot to BMM and fix permissions. I am so relieved to have a good rom. I now have stock on slot 1, Carbon on slot 2 (daily driver), AOKP on slot 3, and an old MIUI on slot 4. MIUI5 is non-functional as system files are not actually installed.
I have miui5 installed on system 2 with bmm so far it's flawless

Well that's dynamite, marconz. But that's not on 3 or 4, is it. I am not about to replace Carbon with MIUI now.
cm10, carbon, aokp. all of these roms gave me that random NO SOUND issue. ringtone, notification, alarm...completely went silent. even if i go to settings>sounds and try to tap on the sound i want, it does not emit any sounds at all. eclipse is the only one that has not done this so i am sticking with eclipse for now. but i leave Rom Slot 1 open just so i can try CM10 every now and then hoping the sound issue is fixed. trust me, i want CM10 to work but if the sound intermittently doesn't work like that, i can't have that as a daily driver rom.

[Q] Specific ROM Help

OK, so I haven't posted much in this forum in general because I haven't had a need to really. I find what I need read and move on. But because of that I can't post in the developer section to ask this question before I flash this ROM so I will ask it here. So I'm going to take the plunge and flash Newts NOS m7 ROM. But after reading about 60% of a 949 page thread I do have some confusion. There were some updates and patches I'm going to call them for a lack of better term. I don't need to run any type of beast mode kernel. So what patches or fixes do I need to add in order for everything to work on this ROM? And I'm choosing this one over the alpha Sense 5 ROM based on data working with Verizon and not working with the alpha. At least nothing has been posted that it's working in all aspects now. I appreciate the help and hope that I can be rocking the NOS rom by tonight before I go to bed.
Really? No help out of 60 views?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
If you install the full rom, you don't need any of the patches.
Well I have the full app plus a couple of the other downloads that are mentioned to have off the bat. But has the ROM download been updated with the patches that fix stuff? Thank you for your response by the way.

3.0.7 is the only thing you need to have as of today it contains everything, patches are minor small updates and newtoroot usually will tell you what patch you need when they are released.

So you are saying that the kernel patch, the call patch, and the other patch are all included in the 3.0.7 build and I shouldn't worry about them even though people are having issues with the ROM in certain areas such as what the patches fix? I'm asking for clarification because I can't afford to screw up my one and only phone. Besides Viper Rom this Nos 7 Rom seems to be the best out there for what I want until the update comes out. This is me being cautious and doing my research. I don't want to sound like a jerk. Just trying to have everything lined up right.

Again.... just install the full rom. All is included.. Don't see how you could be confused with that statement.

All you really need to worry about if it says full Rom or not. If it is a full Rom flash it after that there is nothing else to do.

Thanks for the help. I should just take the plunge but like I said before I'm just trying to do all the research that I need and to be as well read on it before I just jump into something. I'm not a first time rooter or flasher of ROM's. This one just has me timid because even the latest posts in the thread of the ROM is saying there are data issues. So I hope you can see where my concern is coming from. I'll flash it tomorrow and see what happens from there though.
OK, so I just took the plunge and did the flash. One problem I have right off the bat is that Gmail keeps closing and failing. I can't have that because all of my most important e-mails come in thru that. So is there a fix or do I just have to go back to stock?

Never heard of that issue. I would just re-wipe and re-install the rom.

Did you even wipe data or did you just install the rom and hope that you wouldn't have to do anything about your already installed apps?
Seriously??!! Oh just install the ROM it's totally fine. Yeah well it's not fine. GMAIL is broke and I HAVE TO HAVE IT WORK!! Come on people help me out!!

You won't get any help if you don't tell us what you did..... I have never heard of ANY rom that gmail doesn't work.
and YELLING AT PEOPLE DOESN'T HELP EITHER.
Well, it wasn't meant to come out as yelling. And I didn't do anything but install the ROM just like everyone kept telling me to do. Oh and the weather on the lock screen is broke too. It always says no weather data available.
Well nothing like feeling even more of an ass. I never saw the replies I had already gotten from you guys. I guess my page wouldn't refresh. I'll wipe it and re flash it on I guess. I did all the stuff I needed to do before flashing it so I"m in the clear on that one. I'm not sure as to what all the extra apps that I've never seen before are but I'm ok with that for now. Oh, um isn't there suppose to be a swipe screen to wake feature on this ROM? I can't find it.
So G-mail is back to working now. I reflashed the ROM and did a cache and dalvik cache wipe. I also did the lock screen patch and volume to wake patch. I still don't have weather on the lock screen though. And the little click sounds that are turned on for me for when I unlock or lock the screen....yeah I can't hear them.
So, everything works now. Go figure....well minus those sounds that for some reason I actually really really liked having turned on before I flashed this. Maybe they will just start working again too.

So, in other words, all of your problems were self inflicted.
Do the flashing process properly next time and you won't have these issues.
Nope not self inflicted. I did the flash exactly the way I was suppose to. Not sure why flashing it a second time worked but it did. Now to figure out how my nanddroid back up got deleted.....or if it's just hidden and I don't know where it is. I use TWRP recovery by the way.

Why did you put this under the other CM 12 Unofficial thread? That really should be what you do, or we'll have duplication of discussion. He does have a place in post 2 reserved for partner builds.

Initially he did exactly that. Then a one of the mods deleted half a dozen posts. Take a look at the mods post in the other thread.
Since the other poster moved on, it's probably best anyway. That way he can update the build dates.
ok, so my brother has a flakey 4g lte. I tried to refresh his phone to stock and he still seems to have some issues.
I would like to throw a custom build on there and I think this would be a great one. He has never been rooted, has taken all the latest OTAs, etc and is S-ON. So... what the best S-OFF to use for the latest firmware one? I am guessing rumrunner? Then from there, TWRP recovery I see is required, but it also says use the new partition layout. Is that the F2FS?
Also, does this rom come with the easy CM updater? Or are they all manual for now?
Thanks.

Is the bootloader unlocked? If not, that's what needs to be done prior to getting S-Off.
Rumrunner should work just fine.
You really need to read and follow the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639180
Captain Throwback has done some amazing work and has significantly extended the useful life of our devices. You'll need to use his TWRP too. Nothing else will work.
Hope this helps.
New build.
New build. Sorry it took a while, I was having trouble getting it to build and I just ended up downloading the sources fresh. I'm going to be RMAing my motherboard after Christmas because it currently works with only a single stick of RAM, so it will be a little bit for more builds. I'll be sure to put a new one out before I do though.

Has anyone noticed that focus no longer works in any camera app with the update to 5.0.2? This seems to be present across all 5.0.2 ROM's.

I've tried all the current ROM's, AICP, BlissPop, CM, SlimLP, and LiquidSmooth LP and this issue is present in all ROM's so I'm guessing it goes further than just the CM tree.

Ok, thanks. I'll add these to the op.
Christmas present for you guys.
I'm curious if anyone is using this (or any) cm12 rom on an Activated htc evo 4g lte sprint phone. I ask because I have a couple of these phones that are not activated I give my kids to play with. My wife has this phone also and I'm thinning about installing this on her phone but wanted to know if I should expect any issues with data or GPS. We travel allot so a concern is the ability to quickly transition from 3g to 4g back to 3g. With a "stock based" rom it has no problem but I noticed with cm11 it had issues keeping data

You Sir are a CHAMP!
Do you know are the "post-22nd" bugs mentioned in the op still there? I know you're not doing dev on this yourself, just curious if anyone has noted upstream fixes and this thread is pretty quiet.
Wanting to take it for another spin but with small kids and holidays my camera is getting a workout. If not I'll fire it up here in a day or two, check for myself, and report back
Thanks a ton for keeping this going. I'm squeezing every last mile out of this phone as my family is between homes at the moment so I'm squirreling away every dollar I can.

Still doing it on my phone. I'll probably do a new build when I go to bed.
EDIT: Now I'm not an expert at this but this looks like it should fix it, so I guess in the morning I'll find out, I'll be sure to change the OP if it does.

is the mate 2 lo3 worth getting?

compared to say the grand x max+? also which is most stable rom besides stock for lo3? thanks for replys
also to root i have unlock it?
Yes
I've had a lot of good phones. Original Note and LG G2 among the best. I still use my Mate 2 as a daily driver. Totally love it. It will be a sad day when it stops working.
Off the top of my head (which may be really outdated), spec-wise and price-wise, I think the Mate 2 is better than any other of its competitors. Again, I haven't been paying much attention lately, so I might be out of the loop quite badly. But for a nearly 4,000 mAh battery and, thanks to some amazing people on this forum, quite a few custom ROMs, I have absolutely no complaints. I'm not replacing this anytime soon. My previous phone was used for either 3 or 4 years.
Just be glad you weren't here from October 2014 to June 2015.
Lol true. Got my own cm ROM made. And working on compiling omni ROM. Shm has several ROMs for it. And cm has L and MM as well. Way better device with stock ROM replaced.
usps says my phone will come monday, YAY!

I've actually been using the stock ROM for the past month or so, maybe longer. Actually not that bad, I like EMUI. However, I am missing some features of custom ROMs, like swiping notifications on the lockscreen getting rid of them instead of opening them, and being able to change the DPI without everything breaking.
Also, Xposed apparently doesn't work on B322? I haven't tried it myself, but that does suck if true. I used several modules back on B128.
Edit: Does anyone know if there's a way to get the Huawei camera app on CyanogenMod? I think I'm gonna switch back, but the stock camera is garbage, and Google Camera has a weird preview issue in portrait (image is squashed, but turns out fine after it's captured).

Just hope something doesn't so wrong. I have one rebooting from Bluetooth being turned on and they won't replace it.
am i supposed to update the phone or anything before unlocking?
You need to be on B322
And if it is CC or wind. Unlock the carrier lock before flashing CM etc

Indeed! Only thing to note with Candy Six is that live wallpapers seem to be broken at the moment, and Clock consistently crashes every time I try to open it. That may or may not have something to do with the Layers theme I installed though.
