Need help! - Themer General Discussion

I have an ASUS FONEPAD which is not able to show up the themes in the 'Browse Themes' section!
My device isn't in the 'Not supported' section but it still doesn't works!
When i launch the app,it says my device's resolution is not supported.
Can anyone tell me a solution to the problem.

The Fonepad is not supported, and Google Play doesn't have it as an option in the "excluded devices" field which is why you were able to get it on your device. But we don't support any tablets yet, though that will come in the future. :highfive:

[Q] Can apk's from other devices be used?

I was just wondering if apps from other devices can be installed on the prime. Like modded flash 11 apk for hulu and other apks that are in other android threads?
As far as I know they should...

Strange question... AFA they are not specifically designed for a specific hardware, all Android apps can be installed...
Just read carefully the OP if those apps, most of them have a market link, check on market that they are compatible..
You can install other apk from other devices but if they're not compatible with your device they wont open, FC ,or will give you an error that it isnt compatible with your device. Kinda sucks but thats how android is for now until everyone jumps on board to ICS. Atleast that's one of the point of ICS is so apps made for it are compatible across all devices with ICS.

[Q] Bypass device restriction in Google Play?

Hi
I can't install many apps on my device (Galaxy Player 5 USA) from the market, it says "Galaxy Player - This item is not compatible with your device".
I'm sure if my device woulda been a Galaxy II or III it won't be any problem downloading the app.
Is there a way to bypass these restrictions so I can download ANY app from the market?
Notes
My device is rooted
My country is already hacked
I have a higher density than the standard
Thanks

Its probably because you changed you LCD density. Clear data for market and Google services framework, change your density back to normal and reboot. Then open up your market let it load then change you density back to whatever then reboot.

I kinda prefer the change device model solution because many apps are blocked even web I set the density back to the original setting.
Anyway, I installed a build.prop editor from the market, but I'm unsure what setting to change.
I think it would be grey if I can turn my device into a Galaxy II or III, or perhaps even "upgrade" my Android version, or fake the density.
So bottom line, if you could please tell me how to change device.
Thanks a tone!

The device id lines
Code:
ro.product.model=*insert device here*
ro.product.brand=*insert line here*
ro.product.name=*insert line here*
Also I wouldn't recommend changing the Android version if its a really high jump (2.3 to 4.0 for ex.). This would probably cause incompatibillty of the apps since some have version for both OS version such as GMail or YouTube.
I would recommend using something with the same or similar SoC so that you get the right graphics package with games. The Galaxy Play 5 uses the Exynos 3110 SoC. Ther is a list on Wikipedia of other devices with the same SoC:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exynos
The Galaxy S and Nexus S both use that SoC and are popular enough candiates to use as a build.prop.

You'll also need to change the fingerprint ID.

I'm a noob.
Can you please tell me exactly what setting I should provide for each of the above lines in order to fake it to Galaxy S 2?

Missing out (again) on Device compatibility. Virgin TV Anywhere (UK)

I see the Ultra is not supported for this App. Disappointing considering we still can't download with Iplayer.......
Devices which can use Anywhere app
Sony Xperia L (C2105)
Sony Xperia SP (C5302/03/06)
Sony Xperia Z (C6602/03)
Sony Xperia Z1 (C6902/03/06/43)
Sony Xperia U (ST25)
It's Virgin's responsibility to update their app. Send them a mail and ask if they can update it.
The Ultra is missed by a lot of developers. I've had a good response rate from developers and they have all said that they acknowledge the issue and will get an update done.

They have only just added any Android support - took them ages. Use the "Contact Us" form on their website to request it to be added, that's what I've done.
If you are rooted there uses a module for xposed called play store fixes which tricks it into thinking the dpi of the phone is different.

I don't believe it's a DPI issue, it's model.
Answer from Virgin Media, not good news:
Thanks for your e-mail to Virgin Media about the availability of the
Sony Xperia Z Ultra on TV Anywhere.
We understand your concern.
Right now, we're sorry but it doesn't look like we've got any plans to
add Sony Xperia Z Ultra on TV Anywhere App. We're always working with
the providers to bring our customers even more choice on Virgin TV, so
keep your eyes peeled! And check out www.virginmedia.com for the latest
stuff.

I don't see why there's a problem, there are many android devices with the same screen resolution and processor.
I would try one of the market helper apps, or xposed, to make Google Play think you're on a recognised device. I had to do this with previous phone, Note 2, to load the tesco clubcard TV app.

Doesn't the phone have to be rooted to use xposed? If so, then the app won't work anyway on rooted devices according to the comments in the store
A late reply but I have a One X which is also not supported. I used Device Spoofer to make my device appear as the HTC One. I was able to download and install the app from the market. In addition the app's record, remote control and program manager functions work perfectly however the ability to watch programs on the phone is blocked by a root checker.

You can only install the app on an approved device though (officially). The TVguide app has record functions but it doesn't have have network remote features.
Why do they do a root check? You can use the software on any PC, with whatever hacks you want installed, but there's some obsession with root on Android...

[APP] Sky Online - how to extend compatibility to smartphone?

Hi everybody.
I'm writing from Italy.
Here we have the tv provider SKY.
There is an Android app for the users that is call SkyGo and it is compatible only with some device. But on the internet you can find the "modded version" of this apk that can run on every device ( tablet and smartphone). So there is a person that modded this app and released it for the community, but i don't know who is this person.
This italian tv provider lauched an online streaming service that is called "Sky Online". It offers some Live channels and different contents on-demand. I'm an user of this service and i love it because you can choice what you want to see and pay for it, month by month.
They released the Android app only for Samsung Tablet ( NO smartphone). And they said that for the moment, they will not release the app for the smartphone. You can find it here: http://apps.samsung.com/venus/topAp...|@tot=863|@idx=0|@doc=G00020657218|@title=nil because it isn't on the Play Store.
Someone posted the apk on internet and i tried it on a HP Slate 8 Pro and it works. Other users tested it with other tablets and it works.
I'm not a developer, and my question is. Someone can decompile, modify, and recompile the APK to work with smartphone? Because if you install it on a smartphone, when you launch the app you receive a error.
My purpose is to use the service that i pay, everywhere i will be. On my smartphone.
If anyone want to help me, I attached the apk of the app.
I'll up the thread because the mod of the forum sposted it in the right section and so, you can see it in this section.
I very appreciate if anyone can help me. :good:

If you have a rooted device, you could try to change LCD Density (screen dimensions) by using exposed app settings module.
You can find the thread on this forum or search in italian pages for "xposed framework" "app setting".

Can't start app because "device is not secure" after rooting

Hi guys. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place or been asked before.
I just bought a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and rooted it. No problems.
But, when trying to start the app "T-We See" (not allowed to post links yet) from my cable company to watch TV on the tab I get your device is not secure error when launching it.
I called them and they say this app is not working on rooted devices. I have no knowledge of writing apps, but is this a check that can be easily removed? First time I met an app which denies me because I have root.
