VZW LG G2 Price Reduction - $150 on contract, $550 full retail - G2 General

First post. Apologize if this is a repost, but the Verizon LG G2 is currently $50 off, for both on contract and off contract pricing. I'm considering buying it at full retail since those prices normally don't drop
Edit: I can't post the VZW link since this is my first post, but if you goolge "verizon lg g2" it should be the first or second hit.
Cheers!

I think they had to because of Amazon's $99.00 price. I complained last week and they gave me the new sale price though I no longer feel I did anything sober they probably knew the sale was coming. I should have paid the 35 restocking.

wonder would ATT match that price drop to the ones that recently bought on?

I just bought my phone 2 days ago. Will they honor that price since I am still within my 14 days?

Try should, usually Verizon has decent customer service in this regard. Besides, what do you have to lose by asking?

I will try for sure.

Called today and they credited my account for the difference. Thanks for letting us know about the reduction in price.

on the website you can get an extra $50 off if you use promo code VZWDEAL. ordered mine today for $99.99!!!!

Wow! So Sprint users are totally getting hosed. First, they have to be last to get it. They've barely been allowed to pre-order it. And the pre-order price is 199.99. If I was still on Sprint I'd be on the phone with customer service threatening to cancel my service.

Did you purchase the phone in store or through customer service?
I tried to get the reduction yesterday, but they told me it either had to be purchased in store or through customer service to price match. I bought it online, so they said I couldn't get the discount.

Bought in store. I can't see why it would make a difference if you bought it from Verizon.

Because, depending on who you are talking to, they don't have access to the other systems. It's not universal. Ridiculous if you ask me, but is turning into the norm with a lot of businesses lately.

Thursday, the Amazon price was $119.99 vs $149.99 at VZW. I started a chat w/ VZW and asked if they could match the Amazon price. The answer was no, but he'd give me a discount code worth $50, so I ended up ordering it Thursday for $99.99 plus activation fee and tax - $137 and change. It is due to arrive Monday.

I got my G2 for a grand total of $50
Not really sure how I got it for that cheap.... I upgraded through my work place, and they said all I had to pay was $50 lol

I still feel lucky. Paid $26 from letstalk a month ago. They actually honored the price, which was shocking.

I agree. I was about to preorder it, but I decided against and I'll wait for Sprint's black friday deals to upgrade instead. My only concern is that I'm on SERO and I hope that they don't mandate some weird pricing for us to limit discounts.
I don't mind waiting an extra two weeks from the release date if it means I can save $50 (hopefully) or so. It'll make a lower resale price (like everything else on Sprint) a bit more palatable. Plus, I'm selling my 4S, so I should come out to a wash with this upgrade cycle.

It really is a shame. They're the 3rd largest carrier yet they act like they're further behind. One of the reasons I left. That and the roaming.

I just want to say that thanks to this thread I was able to get $50 worth of credit onto my account.
Plus thanks to the 30% coupon during the unlimited data glitch sale I paid ~$160. (Which included a $30 upgrade fee which will be reimbursed later due to a promotion during that time as well).
So in the end I will have paid ~$80 for the phone and keep my unlimited data!
Once again thank you so much!

Rezound now $199 at VZW!

The Rezound is now $199 online at VZW.com. I wonder if they will honor our "worry free" period and give us the difference back?
I upgraded to the GNEX and was told I had to the 15th to return it. I did return for a $35 restocking fee, then go the Rezound. Can I still get $100 credited? What should I say to the CSR, I have a feeling that aren't going to give in easily?
They must have a lot in stock, surplus or b/c of the sales decline in HTC.
EDIT: Just got off the phone with the rep, he credited my acct $100 of my next bill. I don't know if thats because I had until Jan 15th until my "worry free" grace period was up or if they will honor everyone? I would try it though, he didn't give me any problems when I asked for it. He actually said he had no idea there was a price drop.
They usually do if you buy it within 30 days, so it wouldn't hurt to try and post your results. Good luck

Tell them you bought the phone for the $299 and now its on sale. I did that with the thunderbolt they sent me letter with $50 dollars off and the price also dropped a $100 so they gave me $150 off three weeks later.

I doubt for those of us who bought it day 1 will get anything. I mean it has been 2 months. They are probably prepping for all the CES releases.
Funny thing, their "flagship" Razr, and Nexus are still $299.

Nothing exceptional. I just explained I purchased it on Thursday online, and noticed that the price dropped $100 today. I said, "Can I get a credit applied, or do I need to refuse delivery and reorder", but I doubt it's even necessary to say that.
Just ask for the credit. There won't be a problem with timing of a few days.

Worked for me, first try. All he did was call the store to confirm the price and credited me the money on my next bill. He didn't give me any problems, all I said was I ordered the phone for $299 and I saw $100 price drop.
I just got off the phone with Verizon. I have to wait until I accept the delivery and activate the new phone before they can issue me a credit.
FYI, Verizon offers a 14 day price guarantee (that's what the rep told me on the phone), So if you ordered yours within the last 14 days, call in and get your money!
If I bought my phone at the Verizon store do you guys think they will honor the 100?

Rep I just spoke with said they only honor price changes up to 15 days after purchase. I asked about the people who bought it during the holiday return period and she said no. I was nice to her, and she was nice back, incase anyone is curious how the convo went.
Rep said the credit is automatic but she did notate my account.
Good call. I got my phone new years day and they had no problem crediting my account. Good looking out.

I have always been an early adopter and paid full price when things come out. My current Droid Incredible works fine for what I use it for so I will just wait a bit. Figure another month perhaps and $99 will be the new price. Keep the other $200 I saved for other toys.

BestBuy $100 EvoLTEs

I've searched and not found so if it's posted, just delete or whatever is necessary.
Looking at Bestbuy's web site and also calling a local store (Detroit area, Michigan), the price of the EvoLte has dropped to $100.
Not sure what other offers are included.
Also seems that you cannot get to the actual EvoLte page unless you click on the link for "reviews" for the devices.
Anyone have any info on if Bestbuy is trying to sell them out and not restock? I know they've had a bunch of returns in this area because of the constant busy signal problems when making calls with bad service connections. Just speculation, no facts. I've actually had to swap 2 EvoLte's myself.
Here's the link.
That's what I paid at Best Buy 2 months ago.

I stumbled upon this at Costco over the weekend and was happy to find the deal. I'd been thinking about moving from Verizon to AT&T for a while now due to needing better 4G/3G coverage in a few areas and this sealed the deal.
Funny thing is that if you'd asked me what phone I was getting a few weeks ago I probably would have said a Galaxy S4. My last few phones on Verizon have been Samsungs (a Fascinate and a Galaxy Nexus) and I've been pretty happy with them overall. But after playing with the HTC One for a while I found that it fit better in my hands and that I liked the screen better. (Those are two of the most important phone features, IMHO.) The more distinctive looks of the phone sealed the deal and great pricing was just icing on the cake.
It is a great price and Costco has gear return policies. 90 days.
I regret purchasing square and trade be a because Costco has a 100 up front and only 25 deductible.

Can you do an upgrade with Costco in the store? I was looking at their website and it seems like the offer is only for online.
I asked them and he said you can, but I would call for clarification. I'm confused with this:
The $70 discount said you have to have an "available 2 year upgrade" and sign a 2 year new contract.
What qualifies as a 2 year upgrade? Just a general available upgrade or it has to been 2 years?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I was on a month to month contract with ATT (switched from Verizon and used an old GS2) and upgraded in store at the $159.99 price. I actually need to go back and get my $30 back for the price reduction.
Most contracts for subsidized phones are for 2 years so the carrier can get their money back. You have to sign the 2 year contract agreement with ATT or face an ETF should you choose to end it earlier. Pretty standard these days.
Another important thing to mention about Costco is that they only charge you taxes on $270 rather than the full retail ($549 IIRC) so it came out to much less than what it would've cost direct through ATT (about $180 total after tax with the $159.99 device price).
does this mean no taxes online order or through the in-store? Also, no HTC One in black at this point. I will wait another week and see if they get it in stock.

I see you live in CA, so those taxes will apply to me as well when I upgrade. I'm excited to get my HTC One and SGS4 in July. Hopefully they have similar deals to the ones right now!
Anyone know if Costco will allow me to use the upgrade on one of the lines on my family plan, then just switch the One to my line??

Yep. They can handle that
I picked up the one from costco over the weekend. They had no problem keeping my grandfathered unlimited plan. They didn't have the black and told me to come back any time within 90 days to exchange when it arrives.
Just picked up the One on this deal. mmm. Initially, I really wanted black, which they will ship you, but I also wanted immediate gratification. I am getting to like the silver more and more and the free accessories kit isn't horrible
Oops. looks like my xda sig needs updating

If you upgrade through Costco and sign a 2 year renewal would you need to stay on the data plan for 2 years as well?
Or you can still drop the data plan by switching back to a dumb phone without any penalty from Costco?
Looked at one today at a local Costco. The silver one on display was full of gaps and the buttons sticking out all over. They told me that they could order a black one to have it sent to my place. Also, I got 90 days to exchange or return if I don't want it. I think I'm gonna wait till HTC straighten out this gap issue.

I looked over all the paperwork and the best I can tell is there is no penalty by Costco and it seems you can kill the contract after 14 days and pay the $325 ETF.

Is this the tiny gap along the top, most noticeable near power button? It almost looks like the edge of the white plastic there has a slight difference in level.

Something else interesting on the AT&T vs. Verizon question: Straight Talk now supports AT&T LTE for $45/mo.
My G2 was $540 on release day, as were some others that I've read about.
It supposedly has to do with the difference between the AT&T Next price and the Full Retail price, with the former needing to be price-adjusted by the rep, but most reps don't realize they need to or have to.
My reps never understand why I want to buy phones at full retail (I've bought like 5 or so in the last 6 months). It must not be common?

This.
Multiply the "Next" price by 20 and thats what you pay + tax for any phone in the store.
in this case its 27x20=540 + tax. The listed retail price is meaningless.
Whats really interesting is the new iPhone 5c is listed as $20 on Next pricing which would effectively mean it will only be $400 brand new, but their listed retail is like $549

I bought mine on launch day and the display said $579 no contract price, but I was charged $540 (before tax). I thought it was odd, but wasn't about to complain. This phone is a steal at that price.

I thought about that too, but wanted to save my upgrade for whatever comes next. Also, it depends on which state you live in. In the lovely people's republic of California, we have to pay tax on the retail price regardless.

I got my Note III... for $7!?

Ok, I don't know what happened exactly today, but technically, I got a Note III for free. Somehow. Lemme explain:
I saw the Verizon30 promo code online last week. I called customer care, and asked them to add it to my pre-order. Un-possible they said...
I was able to get customer care to add a credit to my account for $45, then they would credit me another $45 after my 2-week return period ends (to know I'm locked in to my contract)
I then got my upgrade fee waived with another $30 credit to my account, because before they offered me my $90 credit, someone in Telesales said I could get my upgrade fee waived; I took her up on her offer, but with another supervisor.
THEN, I today received my Note III at work. I couldn't open the box, because I ordered the phone in CT, but I ordered it to my job in MA, where they charged tax on the full retail price on the phone. So, I returned the phone in the Fedex box unopened without a restocking fee, and went to corporate to do the return.
I was going to just return the phone, buy a new one and be out.
Then I realized the Verizon30 code was still valid, so I did an order on my laptop in-store, and did an in-store pickup option.
The salesman was processing my order, an error came up, I don't know what was happening.
I was coming in prepared to plop down $299 + CT taxes on the phone. I walked out paying a mere $90!!!
I don't know what the hell happened. I returned the other phone, and the money was being processed to my card already, have the receipt for that. Then, they only charged me $90 for the new one....
I asked them why, they didn't understand it, maybe an error with the promo code or something, but instead of getting $90 off the phone, I payed that amount. They said I shouldn't argue with that price, I agreed, paid and left. Now, I still am getting that $90 credit on my next bill, plus the credit for the upgrade fee I payed in store today. So, technically I paid $7 in tax for the phone at the end of the day, which is nutz.
if anyone else can explain what happened, please tell me, otherwise I'm very confused.
I only paid 175$.. don't know how either.

I got mine for 80$. I used the Verizon 30 code and they said I wasn't able to buy it for 209 so I had to get 120 in free accessories. So I just went back and returned the accessories
Same here.. I used the code and selected store pickup.. Walked in a hour later expecting to spend ~$250 all said and done... and was happy about it compared to the $350 it was going to be.
I get to the store and after playing a game of musical SIMs to get the Note 3 on my unlimited line, we come to the payment screen and he says $127.. I ask him if he was sure and we look at the break down and my unlimited was untouched and the discount charged me $90 for the phone instead of taking off $90.. Then $30 for the upgrade fee and I walked out with a Note 3 on my unlimited line for $127.
Verizon defiantly has some glitches in their system right now.. Here is to hoping they stand up for their mistakes and dont try and screw us later..
Just as a question, if they sold a phone for $90 on accident, could they then demand us to pay the rest? Or is the phone then legally ours?
Oh cool guys. I only paid $750 for mine. Lol

So with this "glitch", is this ordering online and doing an in-store pickup, or is this being done at BestBuy? How did you do it? I want to see if I can do the same.

me too haha
I also only paid 90 bucks. instead of charging me 210, they took 210 off the price! im so glad i wasnt the only one who did VERIZON30 and in-store pickup, now i dont feel as guilty :silly:
Wow, this thread is incredible. I was going to wait to get my Note 3 until root was available at least. I think I'll be kicking myself if I don't jump on this deal today. Thanks for the info, guys.
I believe it has to do with the VERIZON30 code and selecting In-Store Pickup. For some reason a lot of people are getting it for $90 when they do a store pickup (at a Verizon location, not Best Buy).

Mine only gave me the option to pickup at a offical verizon store. Which I didn't like because I really like the guys at the phones plus here better than the official vzw store.
But mine said that my phone was going to be 209 online but only charged me 89.99 once I got into the store.

This is just crazy. I'll be doing this over my Lunch break in about an hour from now. I'll post back to let people know it's still valid. Wish me luck!
What is the exact code for the promo? I'll do this right now

Are you guys upgrading your line? Will this work for those wanting to buy the phone at retail price?

I think this is for subsidized pricing only.
How does one get the $30 upgrade fee waived?

Complain about it to csr at store. I got mine waived. But that was before I heard about this.

Did you guys have to enter in credit card info online too?
It works!
After reading through this thread at 12:00pm eastern time (I'm in NYC) I decided to pull the trigger and give it a shot. I logged in online and put the order in with the VERIZON30 code. I entered my card number and it showed the total to be ~$260. I got the confirmation e-mail and went to the store where I was able to get the last black Note 3. The rep did the standard stuff with setting up the phone and checking out but he came across an error message. He asked his associate if he had ever seen anything like that before and the other guy shook his head. Unable to figure out what had happened he proceeded with the check out and I was able to pay for the phone for only ~$130 (couldn't convince him to waive the upgrade fee but I can't complain). I'm not sure how much longer it'll be before Verizon catches on but pull the trigger now if you're definitely sure about buying it!
Same here, I only paid 128... when i pick up the phone at the store last night, they want me to sign the bill, it was only $128. I was like really. The employees there was confused too. But they didn't care.
